My sister is moving to Minnesota. The house they got there fell through so they needed someone to care for their dog...so of course I volunteered. We get to keep her through Thanksgiving. I have a new walking partner! Boy do I ever. She whines until you put your shoes on and then she barks at you until you take her for a walk. She'll even bring the leash to you. Crazy dog. I have to take her twice a day or she gets crazy. ... Mon, 22 Sep 2014 16:44:39 EST Crimson Classic http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5778589 Today is the 2nd Annual Crimson Classic at work. I work at a University so they do a 5k every fall for all students and staff to participate in. I signed up for the 1.5 mile walk. Normally I'd run/walk the 5k but I don't want one of my employees to walk alone. She has dropped 40 pounds and still going. So a group of us from the office will walk together. She's worried that she will hold us back. Last year I did it with her (we walked the 5k) and we came in dead last but I told her it ... Whoa. Eye opener this morning. This week I hope to track everything before I put it in my mouth and consult where I am at more closely. Plus, work out each day. The repairman came out and said it would cost $404 to replace the control board. So needless to say, I'll be getting a new oven. I'm so darn excited about it. I'm getting what I want not what my husband suggests. We went to Home Depot last night and he goes to the bottom of the line oven and says this will work. Uh no. If he can buy a brand new boat, I think we can spend a little to get a middle of the line oven. I'm using the 6 month no interest to spread out the payme... Thu, 24 Apr 2014 11:30:51 EST Back in Action http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5674474 I tried another fitness app and discovered I didn't stick to it because it lacked community. I missed checking out my various teams and interacting with other people! So I'm back to Sparking. My goal this month is to be consistent with recording and getting in at least 10 minutes a day of fitness. Yesterday, I saw my inspiration board when I was waffling on exercising at lunch and the first picture that popped up said....Get Outside! So I did. :) And felt better for it. Thu, 17 Apr 2014 15:13:28 EST Weekends http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5376741 Wow was I bad this weekend! I started ok with a salad but then had a cookie and went down from there. I need to carry a healthy snack with me when I am out and about. I got real sleepy in the afternoon and had nothing with me so ate a not so healthy McDonalds chicken nuggets. Sunday was just as bad. We were out on the lake and son got a bag a Cheetos. I did ok until afternoon again. Snacked on bad stuff. It didn't make me feel any better. So I grabbed an orange and ate that and insta... Roasted root veggies, steamed broccoli, spinach and garbanzo salad, stuffed peppers. I brought a chicken and blueberry salad. We are still #4 and it is week 8! I'm at the bottom of my team but I've definitely have been eating more fruits and veggies than I normally do. Sadly I'm the one lagging on my team but I'm not the one groaning about being sick of fruits and veggies either. I'm holding steady. You get double points for super foods like Kale, strawberries, spinach, blueberries, etc. the rest of my team is eating all super veggies. I'm mixing it up more. Plus gas is so expensive. My husband has a 2000 F150 truck that he uses all the time and I have a pathfinder which is a little better than the truck but still a gas hog. I told my husband to drive my car instead of his truck everywhere so we could save on gas. I would take the bus/light rail to work. The other win beyond cash savings is I walk more. I went to his practice on Thursday and was amazed at how well he was handling the ball. It's cool to see the progress. You don't often see that when you go to every practice. It's more subtle. I often wonder will he ever get the skills down? It was ne... Sat, 1 Oct 2011 10:54:29 EST Good News http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4506975 My sister had an MRI yesterday to see how far the breast cancer had spread. Luckily it had not. They did find a very small instance of it in the other breast though. One she definitely has to have a masectomy. Depending on the test results of the other, she may or may not have to have one there as well. She is going through with the masectomy though and will have reconstructive surgery. My older sister teased her telling her she could have any size she wanted (silicon). :) What a reli... Tue, 27 Sep 2011 15:26:42 EST Horrible week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4504324 Last week was sooo stressful at work. Next week won't be any better. I'm measuring my food again so I can somewhat come close to my goal. I'm making progress so that's encouraging. This weekend we are going to a church camp retre... Wed, 7 Sep 2011 15:35:14 EST Broke even http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4442457 Whew. After a stressful week and some not so great food choices, I stayed at what my previous week weight was. <BR> <BR> Jake started school today. I heard his teacher was good from other moms so that was a relief. I can't wait to get home and pick him up to find out how his day went. He's now in 1st grade. It will be interesting to see how he does with the increased work load. I think he should be fine. We have sporadically worked on reading over the summer and he loves math by def...
