Since this weeks theme was about staying motivated I though I would write a blog about it.

Continuing motivation can be tough even under the best of circumstances. So how can you stay motivated when you have a to-do list that’s several pages long, you had a flat tire on your way to work, your boss yelled at you for being late to work, your co-worker deliberately tries to sabotage your heal... Mon, 29 Sep 2014 22:05:43 EST My hometown An old high school friend of mine posted this video on Facebook. I wish I could have downloaded the video and then put up on here but I couldn't. Anyway, I thought I'd share it with all of you. 41

Most people think of Denver when they think of Colorado but there are many other places in Colorado that are cool too. I really miss my hometown and my family especially now that I'm going to be a great aunt ... Mon, 29 Sep 2014 00:09:34 EST 5% Challenge has begun So, this is my 5th or 6th time doing the 5% challenges. I really like them and really like the Teddy Bears team I'm on. I really like how this team really encourages and supports each other. This is my 4th or 5th time as a Teddy Bear. The thing that I like about these challenges is that each week we focus on a different aspect of becoming healthier. Like water, fiber, 5 servings of fruits/veggies, etc...

I'm still doing the FMD. I'm finishing up my 5th month of this eating pl... Mon, 22 Sep 2014 20:39:35 EST Week 3 Blog: Favorite thing about Fall/Autumn This week for the Aspire and Inspire Autumn Leaves BSG team we were asked to blog about: What are some of your favorite things about Fall/Autumn?

Some of my favorite thing about Fall/Autumn are: 1) The colors of the leaves changing different colors.

2) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Halloween!!! 419 420 421 422 423 275 333 424 431 It really is one of my absolute favorite ho... Fri, 19 Sep 2014 03:01:04 EST Week 2 Blog: Fall Weather This week for the Aspire & Inspire team we were asked to blog about fall weather. 1) Are you looking forward to cooler weather? 2) What is your favorite outdoor fitness activity to do in the fall??

I can honestly say NO! No, I am not looking forward to cooler weather. Summer, this year, was so strange that I felt like we barely even had a summer. Usually I am okay with the changing temps and weather in general but this year I am most definitely not ready for fall. I’m beginnin... Sat, 13 Sep 2014 18:35:24 EST August Review/September Goals August Review

Well, August wasn't a good month for me in general. I dropped a mere 2 pounds. August is usually not one of the better months out of the year for me. Yes, my birthday was last month but I also have lots of anniversaries in the month of August. Know not the happy kind of anniversaries. My grandma that helped raise my sister and I died in August several years ago. She died just 5 days before my birthday. She died from ovarian cancer and her memorial service was on... Fri, 5 Sep 2014 02:45:27 EST Me??? A size Small??? As most of you know that I've banished quite a bit of fat from my body. No, I haven't lost it as in...whoops, I lost that fat/weight somewhere and need to find it. Nope, never want to find that weight/fat again!! I'm around 20ish pounds away from my goal weight. After seeing my doctor last month the dosage on a couple of my meds had to be lowered. More pills to take for one because it only comes in 5 mg or 25 mg and I have to take 20 mg. So, that's not great but the dosage is lower so tha... Wed, 3 Sep 2014 03:43:38 EST Depression and suicide I felt like this blog needed to be done since Robin Williams' suicide. I have been terribly depressed in the past. I have been to the point where I can't see any reason for living. I have been there many times in the past. The first time was in high school when i was being bullied by these girls I knew and several other times since then. I KNOW what it's like to just want life to end!! I been through mild, moderate and severe depression many times in my 45 years. Thankfully I got help w... Fri, 15 Aug 2014 00:51:18 EST I'm just not in a happy place right now Well, I've been in a bit of a funk lately. I dare say a bit depressed. You see, my weight is still coming off but much slower now. I'm beginning to reassess my long term goal weight. Each week my weight is anywhere from a 0.5 lbs down to 1.5 lbs down. One week I didn't lose weight at all. I know, I're going to tell me to focus on the NSV's, how much better I'm feeling, yada yada yada yada. I KNOW that but it's just not doing it for me lately. Don't get me wrong, I'm very ... Fri, 8 Aug 2014 21:13:09 EST THIS is how I would like to look I'm sure most of you have probably seen this since it's gone viral all over the internet but this girl is amazing!!!!

ark-videos-detail.asp?video=100

She's my height and she weighs what I would like to weigh...100 pounds. She's not overly muscular or anything. I think she looks awesome and she's an awesome athlete!! Now I don't expect to ever be able to do what she did nor would I try, especially at 40 something... Fri, 18 Jul 2014 01:48:10 EST Trying to exercise with your pet... Trying to exercise with a pet in the room can be interesting and a bit difficult at times. My feathered puppies (a.k.a. cockatiels) had to be banned from the room I was exercising in finally because they wanted to "help" a little too much. It became too difficult to exercise while trying to make sure I didn't step on one of them while exercising. Anyway, I thought all of you who have pets might like this video. 334 413 401 404 239 ... Sun, 13 Jul 2014 19:04:22 EST Being Honest So, it's been a while since I've blogged about how I'm doing. Yes, I'm still doing the FMD and still losing weight. 244

Now comes the being honest part. When I finished the last 5% challenge I don't believe I lost as much as I said or thought. My scale was giving me fits. One day I'd be at one weight and the next day or two I'd be up or down as much as 10 lbs!! I kept putting off getting a new scale. I just didn't want to spend the money on it. I was finally forc... Wed, 9 Jul 2014 02:53:32 EST What is wrong with people??? I think you can tell what type a person someone is by the way they treat an animal, particularly a stray. Hubby and I are both well educated and used to live someplace where education is important. Along with that most people seem to be empathetic to strays. Now that we live in a community where education is at the bottom of the list of priorities we've noticed that the people here seem to lack empathy. We live out in the woods and people are always coming out here to dump their unwanted p... Mon, 30 Jun 2014 05:01:02 EST A&I Stunning Strawberries: Staying active with hot temps outside This week for the Stunning Strawberries A&I BSG team we were asked to blog about how we cope with the hot temperatures & still stay active?

Well, that’s simple I keep the AC on when it’s hot and avoid going outside or doing outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. Hubby and I usually go for a walk in the late evening at the high school track. 342 I also exercise to a video 4- 5 days a week but again not when it’s really hot even if I do have the AC on.... Thu, 26 Jun 2014 02:49:26 EST A&I Stunning Strawberries: Vacation Plans This week for the A&I team we were to blog about our Vacation plans this summer? What type of activities are planned, any sightseeing?

We hadn’t exactly planned on a vacation other than going to Illinois to visit hubby’s aunt. Those plans have changed though since she fell and broke her hip at the beginning of last month. Was home only a day, tripped over the dog’s toy and broke the leg on the same side she broke her hip. Her son from her first marriage decided to live with her... Sat, 21 Jun 2014 18:29:31 EST A&I Stunning Strawberries: Father's Day Celebrations This week for the Aspire & Inspire BSG teams we were asked to blog about how will we spend Father's Day? Do we have any special plans? Write a blog about your father, special memories, etc.

Well, we had planned on going down to my FIL’s house for Father’s day and maybe making him a healthy meal. Then I found out that he will not be home on Father’s day. You see, my FIL was going to take this job in Oklahoma. He was going to be running or taking care of an RV park/campground on ... Fri, 13 Jun 2014 02:39:12 EST May's Progress and June's Goals w/ Pics of progress May's Progress

May was a good month for me for the most part. I did my 2nd month of the Fast Metabolism Diet and ended up losing 15 pounds. I was pretty happy to be able to fit into a size 6 jeans as well! I had some tummy issues with using Stevia as a sweetener though. I read that Xylitol could do the same thing. I stopped using the stevia and started to use honey instead. It tended to upset my tummy as well for some unknow reason even though I was using very little. I did a... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 03:03:41 EST Family Reunion Trip Redux I wrote this blog 2 years ago but at the time I hadn’t taken the pictures off of the camera yet. Also, I’ve made new friends since I wrote this blog and thought everyone might like to read it and see the pictures too. The only way to describe this trip is to say that it literally could have been made into a National Lampoon’s Vacation Movie.

My husband’s 2nd cousin on his dad’s side of the family planned this reunion and had been planning this reunion for several months. They’v... Thu, 29 May 2014 03:04:28 EST A&I Motivated Marigolds Memorial Day Celebrations This week for the Aspire & Inspire Buddy Support Groups Motivated Marigolds team, we were asked to blog about Memorial Day. 1) How do you celebrate Memorial Day & keep on track with healthy eating? Mother May I???? 2) What do you need to "allow" yourself to do?

Well, we didn’t really celebrate Memorial Day. It was just hubby and I so we didn’t really do anything but go for our daily long walk. Other than that we just sat and talked all day. Eating healthy and staying on track w... Wed, 28 May 2014 18:33:09 EST Feedback about SP and the 5% Challenges Part II When I started the Spring 5% Challenge I had just started doing the Fast Metabolism Diet. I wasn’t sure how much weight, if any, I would lose. I did lose my 5% and much more. The biggest challenge that I faced throughout the spring 5% challenge is finding time to get on the chat thread and chatting with my fellow teddy bears. I love chatting with them and finding out what’s going on in their lives.

For the Spring 5% challenge I accomplished a lot more than I expected I would! W... Tue, 27 May 2014 01:10:53 EST Feedback about SP and the 5% Challenge Part I So for the 5% challenges last week we were asked to blog giving feedback about SP and 5% Challenge.

SP has helped me in so many ways that I never even imagined. When I first joined SP I just wanted to use the tools to help me lose the weight. I wasn't interested in joining team and getting to meet people...I just wanted to do what I had to do to lose the weight. Well, SP recommended you join teams so I did. At first I didn't really interact and then I started interacting with a... Mon, 26 May 2014 01:46:57 EST Motivated Marigolds Wk3 Blog: Reflecting on my mom This week for the Aspire & Inspire Motivated Marigold's BSG team we were asked to blog about our mom. 1) Reflect on your Mother, what are some ways you are alike/different. 2)What are some lessons you have learned from her that has helped you on your SP journey?

Honestly, I don’t think my mom and I are anything alike. The only exception I suppose is that we both hate a dirty house. lol I like to cook and she doesn’t really enjoy cooking even though she does. I guess the only o... Tue, 20 May 2014 04:06:31 EST Fast Metabolism Diet Round 2 Update Well, week 3 of my 2nd round of doing the FMD is almost done. Just Saturday and Sunday left for week 3. I've had such a problem with gas and bloating since this time last month. I FINALLY have it under control and nearly gone. My weight kept fluctuating wildly for the past few weeks. One day I'd be at the weight I was when I finished my first round of the FMD and then then next day or two I'd be up 10 pounds sometimes even 20 pounds. I was getting so frustrated but I knew it had to do w... Sat, 17 May 2014 01:23:04 EST A&I Motivated Marigolds: What I want to achieve this summer This week we were also asked for the Aspire & Inspire teams BSG (Buddy Support Groups) to blog about two questions. 1) What do you hope to achieve this summer? Whether it is physical, personal, weight loss etc. 2) What are you looking forward to this summer??

My answer to the first question is that I hope to achieve my goal weight or as close to it as possible. I’m still doing the Fast Metabolism Diet and have dropped 2 pants sizes! I recently bought the smallest size of jeans I’... Thu, 15 May 2014 03:57:44 EST A&I Motivated Marigolds: Summer Plans This week for the Aspire & Inspire team we were asked to blog about two questions. 1) Do you have plans to travel anywhere or plans to go visit anyone this summer? 2) How do you plan to keep you fitness and eating right going while you travel?

As for the first question, yes, my hubby and I plan to go to Illinois the summer. Hubby has an aunt and uncle in Springfield that we plan to visit. If money and time allows we plan to go on up to north-western Illinois. Hubby was born and... Thu, 15 May 2014 02:51:59 EST Fast Metabolism Diet Update April Review & May Goals So, as most of you know I've been doing the Fast Metabolism Diet - FMD. I completed my first round a little more than a week ago. I said goodbye to 10 pounds total. I would have loved to have lost more but I'm really happy that I got rid of 10 pounds of baggage. Not to mention all of the NSV's that I noticed too. Some of the really big NSV's were: 1) I had been having heart palpitations on and off for a while before I started the FMD and now I no longer have any! 2) Almost everyone that ... Fri, 2 May 2014 03:38:14 EST Fast Metabolism Diet and Sugar So, I'm a little more than 3/4th's of the way through this diet. The first week I banished 5 pounds from my body. That doesn't include the 2 1/2 pounds that I gained initially. The second week I didn't lose anything and when I started my 4th day of the 3rd week I still wasn't seeing any loss. I was getting a little frustrated. However, I had lost an inch in my waist. A 1/2 inch in my hips and an inch in my arms. Oh and a 1/2 inch in my neck. So, while I was a little frustrated I knew I... Thu, 17 Apr 2014 23:34:34 EST Fast Metabolism Diet - Day 4 I know many of us have been on this diet or that diet. I remember back in the 80's I think there was the grapefruit diet that was suppose to be a wonder diet or something like that. Of course there was slim fast and lots of other diets or diet pills.

So, I have a good spark friend/spark mom that started doing this diet with some of her other spark friends back in January. She said that she read this book called "The Fast Metabolism Diet" by Haylie Pomroy. I thought, yeah, sure... Sun, 30 Mar 2014 03:04:01 EST Women in History/ Women Empowerment Month Since this is Women in History Month and Women Empowerment month. Is there a woman in your life now that you look up to??

There are many famous women in history and currently still alive that I look up to. Sat, 22 Mar 2014 19:21:16 EST St. Patrick's Day Celebration For the Aspire & Inspire Lucky Charms team for a bonus blog we were asked to blog about whether we celebrated St. Patrick's Day or not.

When we lived in the city sometimes we would go downtown and watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Usually you'd have to wear a jacket but if you're lucky it might be warm enough to wear a short sleeved shirt on top of a long sleeved shirt and no jacket. Colorado Springs is at a pretty high altitude and the son can be pretty intense.

<... Is it me or does today's younger generation (20 something's) have no respect or consideration or appreciation??

I LOVE my niece to pieces and my nephew and would do anything for them! However, it seems like the youngsters (I HATE SOUNDING OLD) today just don't get it! I talked to my niece briefly last Monday on facebook and she said she'd call me Wednesday. Mon, 10 Mar 2014 04:59:23 EST Feb recap / March goals / Report Card February Recap

Meh, February wasn't the best month for me. I was still trying to take it easy with my exercising so that I didn't re-injure myself and so that I could hopefully get further along with recovering from my back injury at the beginning of the year. So, that part was successful.

As far as losing weight goes...pfft, I lost 1.5 pounds the 2nd week and then gained it back the 3rd. Needless to say I was NOT a happy camper! Last week I didn't gain, so that's a ... Tue, 4 Mar 2014 02:45:25 EST Motivation, Frustrations & Grading my efforts The first part of this blog has to deal with motivation. I was asked recently what motivated me. I had to really think about this because I'm not really sure what motivates me other than me, myself and I. I hate this weight on my body, I hate how my body looks, I hate how insecure I am about how I look, I hate that I don't have the energy that I did when I wasn't so overweight. So, in all honesty what motivates me is my drive to get this weight off. It's almost an obsession with me becau... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 11:26:27 EST Mammograms I'm sure many of you have heard recently about a new study that shows that there is a low percentage of women diagnosed with breast cancer. However, I recently read an article by a Harvard Medical School doctor where he talks about how this study does a disservice to women. He says the results are tilted by the study's use of outdated mammography equipment & different clinical practices than those used in the U.S. If you want to read the whole article here is the link to it
www.bmj.... Thu, 20 Feb 2014 18:34:30 EST This and that First, my back is feeling a little better each week. My sciatic nerve has been bothering me a lot though since I fell and hurt myself. Nothing I can't handle though most of the time. Just annoying more than anything else.

This past week I decided to really watch my carb intake and just do the best I can with my steps each day. Trying for 10,000 steps but not beating myself up if I don't come even close to that. I didn't really do anything for exercise except walking around the... Mon, 17 Feb 2014 08:48:32 EST Frustrations on top of frustrations As all of you or most of you know I hurt my back at the beginning of January. When I saw my doctor she had me get an x-ray of my back. There was no signs of a new trauma. So, I'm not sure what I did to my back. I think I herniated a disc but without getting a CT scan or MRI of my back I don't know. I opted to not get either because there really isn't anything they can do except give you pain medication. While at the dr's office she had my blood drawn for a bunch of different tests. The... Sun, 9 Feb 2014 21:50:08 EST Teddy Bear Daily Dare The teddy bear team I'm on for the 5% challenge has created daily dares for things we are to complete each day. Sun, 2 Feb 2014 01:06:42 EST OMG! Crossfit and Spinal Injury I do lots of exercise videos on YouTube and lots of them are by Jessica Smith. She's a is a certified wellcoach, personal trainer, group fitness instructor and author of Thin in 10. Anyway, from what I read online and from Jessica Smith's blog, a CrossFit competitor was attempting to snatch an... Sun, 26 Jan 2014 18:56:31 EST Reality setting in... Most of my friends know, I think, that I hurt myself last Sunday. I was doing some jogging/walking intervals to a video. I was jogging backwards and tripped over my own feet. I fell pretty hard on my behind. I've been in pain since then. I haven't been to see the doctor yet because I'm just not sure if I should or not. According to WebMD I either have a spinal fracture or a herniated disc. Either way there isn't much they can do for me except take x-rays, give me pain med's, put me in ... Sun, 12 Jan 2014 19:45:26 EST My One Word for 2014 Several of my friends and several places on the internet have talked about using one word as your goal in every aspect of your life for 2014.

There are SOOO many words to choose from and I thought how can I pick just one singular word as a goal for every aspect of my life. The more I thought about it though the more I thought of one word. That word is Happy.
