Tue, 25 Apr 2017 22:59:36 EST Where does the evening go? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6353085 I left work on time and headed to the gym. We did a nice hard workout and I was home slightly before 7. I had dinner in the slow cooker and DS made rice so dinner was ready as soon as I got home. Sat down, ate, rested for about 10 minutes and then off to the shower. After the shower, I started gathering stuff for tomorrow, cleaning up dinner, dishes, etc. And now it's already 9:00.

How did that happen?

<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/f834c987-f1... Zero? Why zero? I know that too much sugar is bad. But zero? Where's the fun in that?

I'm definitely working on less sugar. I'm trading out my lots o' sugar snack for raw almonds and cheese. Or just the raw almonds. And I'll be looking for other options when I get tired of almonds.

But zero? And things were a lot different back then (rules, luggage, etc.). Since then, I have flown to Taiwan twice (on the company's dollar) so I have had to learn how to pack for a flight. Plus, Taiwan is a more humid environment than Idaho. So I know how humidity can affect us desert-dwellers.

DS flies to Fl... The bus swerved off of the road and rolled an unknown number of times. The great news is that there are no life-threatening injuries. There are some bumps and bruises, but nothing serious. The news story mentioned that there would be mental health professionals available to students for as long as they are needed. I think this is a good thing.

My son started mocking the need for counseling because the students were scared (pi... Tue, 18 Apr 2017 23:15:20 EST A work out partner is essential for me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6349950 I have a workout partner who is 6 years younger than me. I show up when I say I will (as does she). She comes ready with a workout for us both to do. I come ready to do what she tells me to do. I kept a close eye on the skies and my email as it rained off and on most of the day. The game was not cancelled and it was about 53' and cloudy when the game started. And windy. Did I mention that I was chilled? Couldn't feel my fingers until I was about half way home!!

Please note, I am not a great SB player. I know that and I"m okay with that. I'm tired by then and I want to eat to "reward" myself with food. My plan for tomorrow is to play softball. Since the game is at 6:30, I will be leaving straight from work to get to the game on time. I will take my dinner with me. A peanut butter sandwich and carrots. I'm feeling broke, so no worries about buying more food afterwards.

For Friday, I will plan my meals on Thursday night. Wed, 12 Apr 2017 22:34:18 EST Whole grain day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6347262 My challenge for today was to have at least half of my grains be whole grains. The only grains I had today were the tortilla chips I had with my taco salad at dinner. Since the first ingredient (of, maybe four!) was corn, I think I succeeded. Carbs are usually not my issue. In fact, I didn't meet my carb macro goal today...missed it by one! The healthier I eat, the less likely I am to hit my carb goal.

Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

Streak report (week i... And I thought I was being healthy. It is Greek yogurt with granola. When I was checking my added sugars (not counting vegetables and whole fruits) I saw that my chocolate peanut butter balls (CANDY!!) only have 2 grams of sugar. And my "healthy" yogurt and granola has 12!! No wonder my blood sugar goes a little nuts between my last snack and dinner. I will have to figure out a new afternoon snack.

Streak re... They know how to work (even though they complain about it) and their teachers/bosses have always said nice things about them to me. Heck! Tue, 4 Apr 2017 23:02:14 EST Tracked sugar...I think http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6343395 I ate what I ate and then I went back and looked at the nutrition info for each item and added up the grams of sugar (sorry for the run-on sentence!). It all added up to 28 grams. I was a little surprised that the majority of my sugar came from the potato soup (home made with milk, cream cheese and potatoes) and carrots. Those two together added up to 11 grams. I totally understand why tracking sugar is so crazy!!!

Streak report (week is Sunday - Saturday):
Staying in cal... The personal trainer who hosts the podcast is anti-sugar. He's not obnoxious about it, but does mention it a few times. He has a 28-day No-Sugar challenge. The last day to sign up was March 30, so I can't sign up for his, but I'm still considering some sort of no-sugar something. Or at least reduced sugar.

However, to know how much to reduce my sugar, I need to figure out how much I eat now. And Spark's tr... Sun, 2 Apr 2017 22:00:47 EST I finally figured it out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6342440 I tend to eat really well Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday is iffy and then Friday and Saturday are ugly. I work Monday through Thursday, 6 am - 5 pm (plus meetings, if needed). To get to work on time and give myself enough leeway (less stress) I get up at 4:15. That means, for me to get a full 7 hours of sleep, I need to be in bed (and asleep) by 9:15. Their clothes are definitely late 80's, early 90's. The acting is not that great. And, to top it off, every single person has horrible looking skin!!! We get to choose what that theme is. This month (March - in case you don't know! LOL!) I chose "In like a lion, out like a lamb". I started the month with lion pictures. The middle of the month had pictures of lions with lambs. And now I'm finishing out the month with just lambs. I didn't take any of these pictures. BMF is Barbara Made Food. And since I'm Barbara, it's food made by me. DH and I long ago came up with the acronym (initialism?). I would ask him what he wanted for dinner and his response "BMF!" Which meant he didn't really care what we ate as long as he didn't have to make it.

Most of the time, I prefer BMF. I know what is in what I make. I can control the portion size. The morning was gorgeous, but I had things I had to get done before I could take the time for a walk. When I left, the skies were looking pretty black. I walked to the pharmacy, picked up a couple of prescriptions and then headed home. The whole trip was about 3.5 miles. The rain didn't start until I had walked almost three of those. I did have my umbrella, so I didn't get too wet. I did find some holes in my umbrella though!... Weighed in today and I'm down 2 pounds from last week!!! I am on track to lose my 14 pounds in 14 weeks. I had planned for today to be a little more "free" in the eating department and I did do that. So, now to get back on track. Starting now...no need to eat more today!

Today was a whole lotta nothing. I jinxed myself on the scale with my blog yesterday. BUT, the official weigh-in is tomorrow. Keeping the weigh-in on Saturday makes it more likely that I will make healthy choices on Friday. That will leave only Saturday for "cheat" meals.

My hope is that my body is holding on to some stuff and will let go before I get on the scale in the morning. Granted, I decided to do it Friday night, but that's still basically a week ago, right?

A little background here...I'm one of those people who weighs myself every day. Part of it, I think, is that I wasn't really busy. We have projects to work on, but my role hasn't been fully defined. If I don't feel "important" then I don't feel productive. And that can send my emotions on a stoopid roller coaster.

Does anyone else have the same issues? How do you level yourself out? And how do you keep from "fixing" it with food? Eleven!! I'm still counting it as being "in" calorie range today. Why? Well...it's 11 calories! Also, a lot of what I am eating is estimated. I had half of a bacon breakfast burrito for breakfast. My work cafeteria does not offer calorie counts on the food they make (or if they do, I haven't bothered to check). And, even if they did provide calorie counts, it would still be an estimate. So, breakfast is an... Mon, 13 Mar 2017 23:09:05 EST Daylight Savings Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6332042 I'm going to start out by saying I'm not a fan of DST. All of my 5:00pm meetings are now at 6:00pm. Anything later than that will also be pushed. The Asia team does not participate in DST, so our meetings get messed up. If, however, we were to pick a time and stick to it, I'd be in support of that. And I don't care if it's DST or Standard time. Just pick and stick!!

With all of our technology now, most of my devices, clocks, watches, etc. are automatically changed. There a... Sun, 12 Mar 2017 21:31:09 EST Shared my plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6331588 My workout partner and I have been visiting a gym in the next town over to take a yoga class. Today, there was yoga, HIRT and Battle Ready. If you did all three classes, you got a free t-shirt or tank. We both decided that we did not need a new shirt that bad, so we took a walk during the HIRT class. During that walk, we talked and I shared my plans for the next 14 weeks. Having her know my plans will definitely help me stay on track.

Streak report (week is Sunday - Sa... Sat, 11 Mar 2017 23:41:08 EST Plan to lose 14 pounds in 14 weeks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6331046 One of my favorite events of the summer is in 14 weeks. It is the annual Wing Off where there are between 45 and 60 cooks (depending on the year) cooking 45 - 60 different kinds of wings. I sample as many as I can...except the super dooper hot ones. No need to burn my mouth! There is a huge group of people that I know and work with. And quite a few more that I see only on that day.

The Wing Off is outside and June in Idaho is hot. There is shade, but I do want to wear short... Fri, 10 Mar 2017 21:30:23 EST Ruts are my friend! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6330543 As I mentioned before, I do so much better during the week. The routine (or rut) works for me. I can plan and pack my lunch and snacks. And I can see it's 10:00, so time for my morning snack. I like ruts!!

Today, I got out of my rut. I planned and packed, just like normal. I even ate at my normal times. BUT...I had to make two stops on the way home/the gym. I had hoped to leave work 30 minutes early, but only left about 10 minutes early. The errands didn't take long, but ... Thu, 9 Mar 2017 22:52:40 EST Because Bacon! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6330032 During the week, I am very good about planning my meals for the next day. My days are structured, so I know when I'm going to eat. When I scheduled/planned my meals today, I had 4 calories left. But, I met my match.

Dinner tonight was salad (spinach) with chicken and bacon. Well...bacon is my downfall. It tastes like bacon after all!! I had an extra piece of bacon. In case you didn't know, bacon has more than 4 calories. LOL! And...then I had four chocolate and peanut butt... You know, mild temperatures, gentle rains, green grass, maybe small hints of flowers. We have none of that. The temps are in the 30's. That gentle rain? Snow. 28 Green grass? HA!! Hints of flowers? We don't even have fake flowers!!! 334

To top it all off, I had meetings from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, so I couldn't work out after work. But, being a planner and a good soldier, I knew about the meetings ahead o... Mon, 6 Mar 2017 22:48:47 EST Getting inconsistent! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6328445 Looks like I am being inconsistent with my blogging. And with my eating. And with my sleeping. Need to work on all of these. Maybe that should start tonight...with a short blog so I can go to bed, get the sleep I need and have enough will power to eat right tomorrow!

Night!

Streak report:
Staying in calorie range - 1 day streak
Sleep at least six hours - 10 day streak
Maximum of one adult beverage per week - 1 week streak Sun, 5 Mar 2017 23:32:35 EST My baby is 18!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6327486 My baby boy is 18 today!! We celebrated by letting him go to school. Tee hee. We also went to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner. We gave him his presents in the restaurant and they sang to him. It was a good day...and well worth going over calorie range for.

Streak report:
Staying in calorie range - 0 day streak
Sleep at least six hours - 9 day streak ...
