I'm not sure if she is the original person who said it, but she is the first one I heard say it. And, I'm sure I will butcher it, but it goes something like this. "If you have a flat tire, why would you get out and stab the other three?"

So...if you made an unhealthy choice, like ate too many calories, why would keep eating with the "I already blew it, so might as well keep eating" attitude. You only have one flat...don't ... Sun, 19 Feb 2017 22:47:36 EST Over calorie range, but not by much! Today was another hungry day. But I feel like I did a pretty good job of sticking with healthy choices...mostly. Breakfast was two eggs and two pieces of toast. Lunch was potato soup with some black beans thrown in. Dinner was spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce and broccoli and cauliflower. Plus, garlic bread. Snacks were yogurt and granola. And chocolate peanut butter balls. So, if I had eaten fewer peanut butter balls or less garlic bread, I'd've been in calorie range. But, tho... Sat, 18 Feb 2017 21:31:33 EST Christmas in February This last Christmas, my family was supposed to go to my in-laws to celebrate. However, they live about 4 hours away and there were a couple of small problems. One - it was cold, in the teens. Two - the heater in the vehicle we would take wasn't working. Three - it snowed. And snowed. And then it snowed!! So, we didn't make it.

In between then and now, it finally stopped snowing, but DH was unable to get away. We never did make it up there. Now, they came to us. They set ... Fri, 17 Feb 2017 22:42:26 EST Gave Blood Today First, thank you all for the comments, suggestions and support on my Compliments blog. You all make me happy that I'm here and know you!!

My company is a fairly large company and the Red Cross comes out to our site for blood donations fairly frequently. In fact, one visit will be at my end of the plant and the next visit will be at the other end (about one mile away). Today it was our turn!

My appointment was at 9:15. I like to get one of the first appointments of ... Thu, 16 Feb 2017 23:29:54 EST Compliments - How do we handle them? I remember a piece of advice...or maybe it was a mandate...from my mom. She told me that if someone pays you a compliment, you say thank you. I've never forgotten that and, to this day, I tell someone thank you when they compliment me.

However, that does not mean I believe them. THAT is a little bit harder for me. For example, I work out frequently and feel like I am fairly strong for my size and age. One of my dreams (not a goal yet since I am not actively working for it) is ... Wed, 15 Feb 2017 22:32:03 EST What did you do? Yesterday, I decreed (because I have that power!) that today was a day to do something nice for yourself. AND, you aren't allowed to feel guilty about it. So, I thought about it. What nice thing can I do for myself and not feel guilty? I've decided that I am going to finish my book. I'm going to take the time to turn off all of my devices and sit and read. I have 67 pages...Might not completely finish, but a good 30 minutes of reading is in my future!!

You've had a whol... Tue, 14 Feb 2017 21:55:16 EST I'm not alone! Thanks to everyone who commented on my blog yesterday. It is good to know that I'm not the only one who beats herself up...regardless of how short the beating lasts.

Let's make tomorrow/today (Tuesday!) be a day that we do something nice for ourselves. The catch is, you can't feel guilty about it. Anything goes, as long as it makes you happy and it is something nice for you. Tell me what you did!!

Streak report:
Staying in calorie range - 2 day streak ... Mon, 13 Feb 2017 22:51:22 EST Why is it? Why is it that if we do everything on our to-do list, except one, we feel like we either didn't do anything all day or didn't do enough? Generally, if we let our brains work and our logic comes through, we don't feel that way for long. But what's with that instinct??

Today, I spent the day on my feet and working. After the gym, I had some things on the PC I had to get done. Did those and then ate lunch. After lunch, I made potato soup, did dishes, made Mongolian beef for di... Sun, 12 Feb 2017 22:51:22 EST I walked to the library!!! For the last 400 years, it has been cold and snowy here. Maybe 400 years is not the exact number, but it feels like it! The cold isn't too big a deal, but the snow is. Walking in snow is harder than walking in the sand! Plus, I sink down. So many inches!!!

In the past few days, it has finally warmed up and the snow is melting!!! One of the ways I get my steps in on Saturday's is to walk to the library, about a three-mile round trip. For the last 400 years (see above), I ha... Sat, 11 Feb 2017 21:42:29 EST Did some deep cleaning today My in-laws are coming into town next weekend and the weekend after that, I host Bunco. Decided that there are some areas that could use some extra cleaning. So, today, after the gym and grocery shopping, I decided it was time to be a grownup and start cleaning.

I started with the desk that is in my dining room/kitchen. It was very cluttered and I found some gigantic dust bunnies. A lot of stuff got thrown away. Other stuff got sorted and stacked. I even found my "peeking" (... Fri, 10 Feb 2017 22:53:32 EST Much better today, thank you! Yesterday was a rough day...well, after I got home that is. Today was better. I left work a little after two since I had meetings that started at 5:00 pm and went until 8:00. I took the time to meet my friend at the gym and we did a kick-butt workout. I got home, packed things for tomorrow and logged into work. Between meetings, I had time to shovel some dinner in (crock pot BBQ pork, yummy!) and take a very quick shower. When I finally emerged from the meetings, it was almost 8.
... Wed, 8 Feb 2017 23:08:37 EST Cranky DH and I both work full time jobs. DS is a senior in high school and a typical lazy teen. When I got home from the gym, I was hungry and I asked the boy to start dinner. Dinner was tacos, so really, all he had to do was cook some meat. He started defrosting the meat and I left. I had forgotten my coat at the gym and I ran back to get it. When I got home, 6 minutes later, the meat was sitting in the microwave, fully thawed. DS was back in his room playing on his computer instead of cook... Tue, 7 Feb 2017 23:26:39 EST My Heater Works! For most of the winter, the heater in my vehicle has not been working. The heater core is plugged and needs replaced. This winter has been colder than most winters (here locally) and we've had WAY more snow than normal. I've gotten use to wearing lots of layers, including fuzzy socks, just to survive the drive to work. Many days I couldn't feel my fingers and toes by the time I finished my commute. I even bought a little heater that plugs into the cigarette lighter (I have the plug, but ... Mon, 6 Feb 2017 23:19:25 EST Watching the Super Bowl and Eating Today is a National Holiday!! Time to watch football and commercials and eat!! We're having wings for dinner and I'm washing mine down with an adult beverage. And, as of right now, the Falcons are ahead, so it's a great game! Sun, 5 Feb 2017 19:25:29 EST Had trouble getting going today After my super busy and productive day yesterday, I had the hardest time doing anything today. Slept in until almost 9:00. Finally dragged my butt to the gym a little before 11:00. Came home, cleared the gutters with DS's help and finally took a shower (at 1:30). Started laundry (and it's still going) and that's it. Planned to clean off the desk. And clean the kennels. I guess there's still tomorrow. We'll see if I get anything done before the Super Bowl.

Streak report: <... Sat, 4 Feb 2017 21:56:24 EST Done and done! Today is the day that I was scheduled to take my vehicle to my mechanic friend to get the heater fixed. And, yes, this is perfect timing since the temperatures are warming up to the 40's! LOL! That means that I had a car today until ~5 but I won't have it back until Sunday sometime. Today was the day to get ALL of my running around done. Here's what I did (not in order).

Gym
Gassed up
Three banks
Hair cut and color
Three grocery stores
Took DD her mail ... Fri, 3 Feb 2017 22:29:17 EST Might have more "encouraged" time off Word on the street (or in the cubicle) is that my group might not be exempt from the time off program. As a cost-cutting measure, everyone who isn't in manufacturing was required to use some of their vacation time. The amount required was a sliding scale, depending on how much you had. From as low as zero to as high as 140 hours. We had from November 1 - March 3 to take that time off. (I'm in the 140 hours group.) Even though we weren't required to take the time off, we were highly enc... Thu, 2 Feb 2017 23:32:14 EST Another hungry day, but tonight was better I don't know why, but I was hungry today! I ate similar food to what I ate yesterday for breakfast, lunch and snacks. But, for some reason I was just hungry! So, I ate. I had some cashews. Then a Luna bar. And I added potato chips to dinner. Not my best choice, but I did portion out the chips and put the bag away instead of bringing the bag with me to the table. Small victories!

Streak report:
Staying in calorie range - 0 day streak
Sleep at least six h... Wed, 1 Feb 2017 23:25:17 EST Running behind I mentioned a new show that DH and I started watching on Netflix. We watched two more episodes tonight and that put me behind in my nightly activities. I was supposed to be in the shower about 30 minutes before I was. And I was supposed to do some prep for dinner tomorrow night. Whole lotta "supposedta" didn't happen. He got about five minutes into it and decided he hated it. Then he started flipping around Netflix and came across a show called Schitt's Creek. It's the story of a rich family who bought a town on a lark. A few years later, they lost everything due to a crooked business dealer and they had to move to that small town. The whole story is how they learn to live in a motel and a small town. Pretty funny!
... Sun, 29 Jan 2017 20:49:57 EST The day just got away from me I'm not sure exactly where the day went! I woke up at 7:30 and got out of bed by 7:45. Started on cleaning the bathroom and eating breakfast. Went to the gym, finished cleaning and started laundry. Went to the library, ate lunch, read for a little while, then went out to dinner with DH. And now it's almost bedtime. Tomorrow will be hanging around the house, doing laundry and reading. I might watch a movie. I might take a nap. It's kind of nice to have a loose plan for the day. Fri, 27 Jan 2017 21:43:52 EST I'm beat! It's been a long week. And even though I've gotten at least six hours of sleep each night, it's only six hours. AND, the last two nights have been spent more in the "light sleep" phase than in the "deep sleep" phase. That makes me even more tired. This morning, a man was pulled over for a traffic citation and/or the police were looking for him for drug-related charges (I'm not clear which or if both). As the policeman turned on his overhead lights, the man shot at him and took off. This kicked off a manhunt in the subdivision across the street from my subdivision!! There is an elementary school attached to that sub and they cancelled school for the day at that school.

One of my co-workers lives in that sub and his truck... Tue, 24 Jan 2017 23:19:20 EST Today was a hungry day Woke up hungry. Ate breakfast. Got hungry again after only a couple of hours. Ate some almonds. Got hungry again. Ate my morning snack. That lasted until lunch and then my hunger was back into its normal ebb and flow. Even though I didn't eat junk or excessive amounts, I am over my calorie range for the day. And I'm fine with that. Sometimes, you get hungry and you gotta eat. Today was one of those days for me. Tomorrow will be a new day.

Streak report:
Staying in ... Mon, 23 Jan 2017 23:11:16 EST All set! Thu, 19 Jan 2017 23:00:08 EST Winter is definitely hanging on It started snowing early today. But it was light and tiny and melted almost before it hit the ground. Until about 4:00 this afternoon. Then it was thick, heavy, big, wet flakes that stuck together before landing. Then it started raining. And I had to drive home. Roads were broken snow floor and I went between 10 mph and 35 mph all of the way home. The rain turned back to snow as I got closer to home. And the wind picked up.
