Sun, 20 Aug 2017 23:38:49 EST Harder today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6401812 I'd like to start by saying that I didn't do it. But today was harder than it has been. I started with yoga and went right into working around the house. It was hot. I was tired. A cold adult beverage sounded sooooo good to me.

So, I poured myself some iced tea. Just ice tea. No Long Island here!!! LOL! And now I'm drinking ice water. Thu, 17 Aug 2017 23:54:38 EST Why do I want it more? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6400364 When I tell myself I can't have something, it weighs on me. I want it more. Even when it's something that I know is not healthy. For example, I've decided to forgo adult beverages for 40 days. No biggie. I just eat more than I should when I've had alcohol. Plus, the calories of the alcohol usually puts me over on calories for the day. Add the extra food eaten and it does not paint a pretty picture!!

Today is Day 2 of no alcohol. Tue, 15 Aug 2017 22:52:56 EST Starting another goal/streak http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6399961 I just recently completed a 90+ day streak of no Monsters (an energy drink). I still haven't had one, by the way! Since I completed that streak, I've been looking for another streak/goal to work on/towards.

One thing that I can do better is my consumption of adult beverages. It's not t he adult beverage itself that gets me so much...it's the lowered inhibitions and the F It attitude that comes with it. Mostly where it comes to food. There are different categories of rapids and this company has ranked the courses from one oar (scenic flat water) to four oars (lots of heavy rapids). Our group is doing the four oars, half day trip. That means I will work until about 11:30 tomorrow and then head out to river!!

I'm excited and looking forward to this. But, since I've never done any white water rafting, I'm also nervo... Sun, 6 Aug 2017 23:08:54 EST Nice, busy day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6396514 Today was one of those rare days where all I did was play. Got up early and took my son to the range. We met some guys from work, including a couple of folks visiting from Taiwan. They had never shot before and really enjoyed it. After a couple of hours, we headed home and I walked downtown to the library. On my way, I caught the last part of the parade. After the library, I went to a BBQ at a friend's house. We sat outside chatting for a few hours.

After that, I came home... Sun, 6 Aug 2017 00:40:23 EST Have to make your own fun http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6395330 At my work, I sit in a relatively small bullpen - about 34 people. Because it is so small, almost half of us have a window seat. The "view" is the parking lot and the adjacent buildings. Right below our windows, there are a few parking spots. It is rare for any of us to get one of those spots as they are very popular - right by the front door. This morning, I got one of those coveted spots. One of my coworkers got the spot right next to me.

Now, these two spots are under a t... Wed, 2 Aug 2017 23:07:16 EST Back to Basics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6394906 I'm one of those people who weighs themselves every day. I use it as a data point. This is what I did and these are the results on the scale. I've never (okay...rarely) let the scale set my attitude or mood for the day.

Unfortunately, the scale has been creeping up lately. I know that most of the issue is my eating. I am eating more than my body needs to maintain my happy weight. And I'm tired of seeing the scale creep up. The data points are not providing the feedback I t... Wed, 2 Aug 2017 00:01:08 EST I don't understand managers http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6394453 On Friday, I went in to work for a meeting with managers and one of the VP's in my company. At the end of the meeting, the VP left and the managers (and me) stayed behind to discuss our next steps. The message was "This is our top priority." Which told me we would spend a good part of Monday working on this.

Guess how much time "we" spent on it?? "We" spent zero minutes on this today. "I" sent an email around noon with some ideas. I heard nothing. No meetings were scheduled... Mon, 31 Jul 2017 23:13:44 EST I quit! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6394010 I work four ten-hour shifts per week. Then, on my days "off" I do all of the grocery shopping, DH's and my own laundry, plan menus for the rest of the week, cook meals and prep food for the rest of the week. That is on top of working out most days. I don't have a ton of time to just sit and read or relax.

DS doesn't start work until Monday and is not going to school. DH works 5 1/2 days per week and often comes home after work and does more work in the garage (side business, ... Sun, 30 Jul 2017 22:36:08 EST Painted some furniture! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393666 My DH has a pawn shop in a nearby town. On Fridays and Saturdays, he goes to yard sales finding things that can be sold at his shop. In the last couple of weeks, he has found a dresser, a couple of chairs, a kid-size rocker, a kid-size bench and an end table. I painted the chairs and sent them to the shop with him. Even if they don't sell right away, they look great outside his shop.

Today, I painted the dresser and the kid-sized furniture. The dresser won't be done until he... Sat, 29 Jul 2017 23:56:27 EST Meeting went okay http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393254 Met with the VP today, along with a bunch of other leaders. Got a much better idea what the VP wants to see in his weekly updates and we have a direction to go. Now we have a new "Highest Priority" in the world project to start on Monday.

However, the thing I noticed was the diversity of the attendees. And at the same time, the lack of diversity. There were seven of us in the meeting. Three middle-aged white guys. Two middle-aged Indian guys. One youngish (30's) Latino guy... Fri, 28 Jul 2017 21:07:36 EST Not a whole day off after all http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6392910 Generally, I have Fridays off. I work four ten-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday. I really enjoy having three days off every week. This week is a little different. My boss is out all week for a vacation. With him out, our "team" is reduced by half. In case math isn't your strong suit, that means I'm the only one left...I *am* his team.

Tomorrow, there is a meeting at 11 with the VP. Thu, 27 Jul 2017 23:01:14 EST DS is making progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6392511 Thank you for the encouraging words on my blog yesterday. DS did apply for the closer college today and *promises* to follow up with them tomorrow. Trying to encourage him to talk to an actual person...more likely to get things moving if humans are involved. He did get chores done today and made dinner. Now, to see if he can keep it up without me nagging him. I told a friend today that I will always be his mother, but I don't want to have to keep mothering him. You know what I mean? <BR... I took a walk around the block this morning (three-mile block) and then spent 30 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. I've found that's the best way to get my steps in on a Sunday. After that, I had lunch and started doing my Sunday chores. I made egg cups, potato soup, broccoli, lasagna and cooked chicken for tomorrow. I even painted the second chair. I don't know if that means we'll be 2nd or it will be a tie. I guess I'll find out when all of the scores are posted.

The good news is that I had a decent game. Between meetings and other projects, I got my portion done about 3:00. Boss got his done closer to 4. I did manage to leave at 4:30 (instead of the 2:00 I'd planned to leave at), but I didn't get any of the extra things done that I'd planned. Gonna try again tomorrow!

Streak report (week is Sunday - Saturday
Staying in calorie range 6 days out of 7 - 0 day streak
Slee... Wed, 28 Jun 2017 23:59:13 EST Taking some time off! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6380603 I'm leaving town this weekend (and leaving the boys at home!) for my HS reunion. The more I thought about it, the more I realized I needed to get done before I leave. So, I'm going to leave work early tomorrow to get some stuff done.

Next week, since we have a holiday on Tuesday, most of the office folks are taking Monday off (me included). The more I thought about it, the more I was dreading getting up early on the 5th since fireworks will be going off until the wee hours of ... Tue, 27 Jun 2017 23:34:01 EST Do you have a "prep" day? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6380144 Every Sunday, I end up having a huge to-do list. It's my own fault, so I can't really be cranky about it. Well...I do get cranky sometimes...but it's still my own fault!! LOL!

There are a couple of things that I have to do on Sundays. Partly because I don't have time the rest of the week. Partly because that's how things fall. For example, I make potato soup for lunches. We almost always run out on Saturday, so I make more on Sunday. Also, I make ham and egg cups for breakf... Mon, 26 Jun 2017 23:03:25 EST Lots done today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6379703 I slept in until almost 8:00 this morning. DH went for a bike ride and I went to the gym. Came home, got some stuff done around the house and then went on a walk. During my walk, I picked up aluminum cans that were on the sides of the road. Got a couple of pounds!

After dinner (spaghetti), I made potato soup and ham and egg cups for breakfast and lunch this week. And now, I'm sitting here, Sparking and painting my nails. All-in-all, a good day.

How did your da... Sun, 25 Jun 2017 23:16:04 EST Great day today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6379329 My workout partner is on vacation in Northern Idaho for a week. They left on Friday and will be gone until a week from Sunday. That means I'm on my own until she comes back. She left me some lifting workouts, so I need to be doing those while she is gone. Today, I stuck to the treadmill. I changed the incline between 5 and 8 for about 30 minutes total. And then I did my Burpees.

And...I've fallen asleep a couple of times typing this. I think it's a hint...good night! ... Sun, 25 Jun 2017 00:19:35 EST I had a GREAT idea to blog about!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6378940 It was a really good idea too. Thought provoking. All-inclusive. Riveting, even!!!

But, I thought of it earlier today and then did not write it down. So I can't remember what it was! I got nuthin' now!! 46 Oh well. Maybe next time I'll make notes for myself!

Streak report (week is Sunday - Saturday):
Staying in calorie range 6 days out of 7 - 0 day streak
Sleep at least six hours - 2 day streak
Days with no Monsters - 45 Fri, 23 Jun 2017 23:53:43 EST Procrastination http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6378554 Sometimes, procrastination is my friend. For example, at work I might be asked to work on an "urgent" project. Or asked to get some information for someone. But, if I don't start working on it right away, the request may go away. Priorities change. Needs change. Someone else fulfills the request. Yay me!

There are other times, however, that procrastination is not so good for me. For example, I should be doing what I said I was on my SP Status (menus and grocery list). But... Thu, 22 Jun 2017 23:45:36 EST
