CAROLE999's SparkPeople Blog CAROLE999's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community New Approach to Exercise I tend to get going TOO much with exercise routines and before I know it, I have pulled a muscle and I can;t do any workouts for a week. Now I am starting to do some exercises in a chair which include a warm up, stretching and then strength exercises for the core. This is a great workout to do on a day when I am taking a break from my more vigorous workouts.

Plan to do aerobic exercise 4 to 5 times a week, vigorous strength trainging 2 times and these easy chair workouts on two da... Thu, 4 Jul 2013 10:47:54 EST Give up the ALL OR NOTHING Attitude I want to find ways to exercise for ten minutes if that is all I have. I can go up and down the stairs a few times and then run around my basement. GREAT exercise. Tue, 2 Jul 2013 18:01:19 EST When I eat healthy..... When I eat healthy, there is a bounce in my step and a smile on my face. That is because I know I am being good to myself and that gives me a feeling of hope. When I am NOT eating healthy I feel depressed because I know I am not taking care of myself. Wed, 5 Jun 2013 17:24:42 EST Listening to Your Body When You Exercise I am finally understanding that I have to listen to my body and not push myself too hard when I exercise. After several injuries, I am finally getting it: having to accept that I can do a great workout, but as I am in my seventies, I cannot work out as I did when I was thirty five. As I listen to my body, I find that I am able to workout more consistently, as I do not hurt myself and end up having to take a week off from exercise. Sat, 1 Jun 2013 13:45:04 EST Changing my workouts SPRING IS HERE and I am going to change my workouts by getting outside more. I usually walk on a treadmill which is great, but I do not go up and down any hills and there is little variation. I need to walk outside. Wed, 1 May 2013 14:03:30 EST Need to watch calories during social events I am great when I am eating alone or with my husband. But when I am with a group, my diet falls apart. I need to improve. Mon, 25 Feb 2013 22:08:49 EST Ways I can improve I do great when I am eating at home, but when i go out with friends or have company for dinner, I need to learn to do much better than I am doing now.

The other day we went out to lunch with friends, and I wanted to order a huge cheese burger. Instead I ordered a salad with a piece of fish on top, and had one bite of my friends cheese burger. I was very happy with myself. I need to make there better choices more of the time. Sun, 10 Feb 2013 22:33:59 EST Stressful eating Sometimes when I am very upset, I eat more than I should. This is not a good idea, and I am very much improved over the way I used to be. I am making progress as this emotional eating does not happen much any more. Tue, 29 Jan 2013 19:00:14 EST Discouraged Since I have been on a beta blocker I have gained back 6 of the pounds I worked so hard to lose. I am having trouble losing weight now.

I am looking for help as to how to speed up my weight loss again., Sun, 13 Jan 2013 14:29:57 EST REASON FOR WANTING TO LOSE WEIGHT My most important reason is health. I will be able to move much better and my blood pressure may be improved with a loss of weight. The other reason is looks. I like nice clothes and I like my face to look better than it does now. I guess I am vain, but that is who I am. Sun, 6 Jan 2013 14:25:19 EST the scale is not the only measure of success I watched Spark Guy video this morning in which he talks about the scale not being the only measure of success. One of the main points of this good video, is that when we are doing all the right things: eating healthy and healthy portions, and exercising, and the scale does not move, then it is time to use other tools to measure our success:

Are we feeling more energetic?
Are we feeling enthusiastic about doing new things?
Are our clothes looking better?

ONE AD... Sat, 24 Nov 2012 08:37:47 EST overcoming a set back I got some good ideas while watching the video for today on spark coach. When I am in a rush, I need to have some quick meals that I can make.

I could have one slice of whole wheat bread
some almond butter with slices of apple on it.
Add some almost milk or perhaps 1/4 cup of non fat greek yogurt and I have a good meal.
However, I need to check the calorie count of this meal and make sure it is under 350 calories.
