Wed, 13 Dec 2017 18:16:28 EST Six months in review: May - Oct. Looking back in retrospect, I've lost a lot of weight, I got down to 147 lbs, but in the last month I've managed to gain back 20 lbs of my 40 lb loss. Well, I'm not going to let those figures discourage me! I'm looking forward, not backward! I'm going to change that downward slide and get back control of my health!!! Here's to a healthier me in the next 6 months!!!

My DAILY Goals for Oct - Dec 2017:

1. Drink 8 cups Water.
2. Walk 10+ minutes.
3. Streng... Fri, 20 Oct 2017 00:47:14 EST I seem to be a glutton for punishment... Yes, first I get my nose operated on then, the other day I decided I don't hurt enough and run right into an old heavy metal projector in a dark stairwell...teaches me to turn the light on, lol. So now my shin hurts like heck and has a big black and blue bruise and a 7 inch long scrape in the bruise. Oh well...I'll be back to walking again tomorrow, I hope! I've been covering it with a huge bandage with neosporin on it!! Sun, 10 Sep 2017 22:03:12 EST My "nose job" Septoplasty Long time ago...when I was 6-7 yrs old...I got hit by a baseball when playing ball at school...right in my nose between my eyes. It broke my eyeglasses in half! Back then you just had a swollen nose for a while and you never went to the dr for that. Well I started having earaches...bad ones where a blister formed on my ear drums in both ears, but especially my right one. I've had so many ear drum ruptures, I've lost count of them. I know I had at least 9 before I turned 12 yrs old. Since... Wed, 16 Aug 2017 16:41:12 EST A Glitch in the Program...or A Ditch in the Path The last couple of days have been bad for me...I have gone way off the beaten path, so to speak. I've eaten everything I shouldn't...I've gained a pound and have knocked myself out of Ketosis. This is so not good for me...I'm just having a hard time.... Mon, 17 Jul 2017 22:31:09 EST My Goals for the rest of this month (two weeks) It's just this simple. While I was down south for the birth of my 8th grandchild, a little sweet girl, I stayed on my LCHF, Ketogenic way of eating. I got back on June 2nd and have let myself slip a little here and a little there, nothing big, but I lost 6 lbs in the 2 & 1/2 weeks I was down there at my daughter & son-in-law's. I am NOT going to let others foil my hard work. Just cause they want to eat foods that are not healthy doesn't mean I have to do that too!

Here are my g... Sun, 18 Jun 2017 23:46:41 EST My Diabetic Journey...Blog #1 What started this journey was a death in my family. My oldest sister, who was 14 yrs older than me, had type 2 diabetes! She was a fun loving and sweet person. She had 2 masters, one in Elementary Education and the other, Librarianship. She was the best storyteller. She loved to travel, whether it was sightseeing with family or on a field trip with her students to Disney World, an educational trip to Yellowstone park or to Washington, DC or with fellow-teachers to European countries. She ... Thu, 4 May 2017 17:29:11 EST Progress Report for February and Goals for March February shows a lot of weight loss for me. I started the month at 177 lbs and March 1st weighed in at 167 lbs for a loss of 10 lbs. I did a pretty good job at getting in more water than I usually drink a day and for exercise I walked every day except for one day that I was sick. I've eaten under 20 net carbs every day except for two cheat days which I paid for with headaches and stomach cramps! I didn't do any strength training this past month except the last week. Overall, I'm pleased w... Wed, 8 Mar 2017 16:03:33 EST Discouraged...But Not DEFEATED! This is just me airing my here goes. I've been eating 1 - 2 meals a day...Now before you jump all over me for eating so little...You should read behind a Dr Jason Fung and the Keto woe and Intermittent Fasting. On my team, Living Low Carb (Atkins and other Plans), they are starting up an new challenge for the month of December. I'm just tired of my giving-in to the littlest, sickeningly sweet treats, like french cream horns or ice cream or .... just fill in the blank.. It's making me sick, literally, as I'm pre-diabetic and have had pancreatitis. So I'm joining in this challenge which is tailored to each ones' own goals and action plans. Our word for this month is ENDURANCE. I took the words tha... Thu, 1 Dec 2016 00:52:44 EST My starting Goals for Success Most real, long term successes start out small and slow. I don't mean the kind that cause the roller-coaster effect, but that last a lifetime. So I'll only start with 2 little goals.

My Beginning Plan for Success...
...drinking 8 cups of water a day
...walking for AT LEAST, but not limited to 10 minutes a day.

That's all for starters....and until those goals are so a part of my life that they're habits, I'll not set any others for now. I was doing so well for a couple of years then just let the little things get to me and as a result, I let my health slip. It's about time I rethink and redo my plan.

I'll keep this simple and very easy to do.

Goals for October 2016:
1. Fri, 12 Jun 2015 18:01:06 EST June Goals and Aspirations Looking back on my past year...from June 2014 - May 2015, I lost almost 80 lbs and then gained all but 12 lbs of it back, my arthritis has progressed, my diabetes levels have been erratic with sharp highs and then back down to a lower range...not good for avoiding complications! I must get a grip on this and quit looking at my body as my enemy and my health issues as a dreadful thing. Instead, I need to look at my arthritis and diabetes as my helpers to lead me to a more healthy way of liv... Tue, 2 Jun 2015 23:10:21 EST Spring Fever.... Mon, 16 Mar 2015 23:48:49 EST March Goals I haven't done a progress report in a long time, so this is definitely overdue. In retrospect, I just kept my head above water, so to speak, as far as my health and fitness went last month. I think I gained about 5 lbs during the month and I wasn't even walking like I used to or watching my carbs which was not good for my blood sugar levels.

For this month I'm going to take baby steps at first.
1: Try to get in 8 cups of water daily.
2: Write down what I'm eating...c... Tue, 10 Mar 2015 00:17:28 EST Getting my health back on track! Lots have happened since I broke my ankle. It has totally healed even though the Dr said I wouldn't get all movement back! I love our PT team, they're awesome people!

Last year I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, meaning my numbers were too high for a non-diabetic and too low to be diagnosed with diabetes. But I bought a meter and began testing myself. Then when I broke my anke in Feb, I put myself on the Atkins Diet. Wow, has that made a difference. I have lost 57 lbs since... Tue, 26 Aug 2014 23:29:58 EST I broke my ankle today! Yes, I'll be out of commission for a while. I was bringing in the groceries at noon today and slipped on ice and snow on the stairs, yeah, that was painful, lol. I broke my fibia on the left side of my ankle on my left leg. At the hospital they put soft/hard splint on my leg/ankle. Mon, 10 Feb 2014 16:13:37 EST Goals: Reflection & Going Forward This is my blog about how I did in January and what my plans/goals are for February.

January was simply put, a complete failure. I'm not down on myself, just being factual. To quote an old nursery rhyme, "He ate and he ate and he ate some more. He ate 6 cows and 20 sheep and chickens by the score.." I have just been in a diet funk, so to speak. Not only did I gain weight, instead of losing, my fitness fell to pieces and I didn't drink much water and didn't do too good on my freg... Sun, 9 Feb 2014 01:32:08 EST My Christmas - 2013 We had a wonderful Christmas this year. I had 5 sons (out of 7), my only daughter, 1 son-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law and my 3 grandchildren come over. They came from NC, PA and NY. Including my dh and myself, we had 14 for the holidays!! Christmas means a lot to me as we always have family come from all over. My kids start coming about a week before Christmas and usually stay until New Year's. This year two of my sons won't be there along with one of my dil and 2 of my grandchildren. They just can't make it this year. But we will have 8 of them that includes a sil & dil and 1 grandchild coming. So altogether there will be 10 of us.

We all play lots of g... I think if I had to give up all food I would be fine just to drink milk. Problem is, you can gain weight with just drinking milk...sign, I wish water could taste like that's wishful thinking, lol.

Tomorrow is going to be a salad day and 10 min of exercise, just to get back into the habit... Sun, 8 Dec 2013 23:10:08 EST Day 1: A Blog for Accountability! A good sparkfriend, Julie, gave me this idea and I am also going to do this with her. Sun, 22 Sep 2013 20:31:47 EST Adjusting My Sept Goals Looking back over this first week, I see that I need to make some corrections.
