CANDISF's SparkPeople Blog CANDISF's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Happy Weekend It has been a great day. Feeling good physically and staying positive mentally. I've been using Visalus shakes for breakfast and dinner and eating a sensible lunch and 2 snacks. Lots of water too, in fact that's all I've been drinking. Haven't "weighed in" and am trying to keep from doing so until next weekend. I tend to get discouraged so I need to give my scale less power by stepping on it only a couple times a month. I continue to learn more and more about myself and realize that muc... Fri, 15 Oct 2010 22:26:12 EST Keep it positive! I am feeling great, keeping a positive attitude, which is the most difficult for me to do. I am learning so much about myself and realizing that I tend to consider myself "unworthy". I also think my awareness and sensitivity to avoid being selfish has led to this imbalance. It is my goal to get past this and know that a healthier and happier wife, mother, friend, sister, and daughter is the most unselfish thing I can do. Wed, 13 Oct 2010 20:20:48 EST Feeling energized I've been back on Sparkpeople for almost 1 month straight now. I have really tried to be more diligent about logging in ALL the food I eat (since I seem to do mindless grazing) and fitness minutes (as an encouragement to do even more). I love how good I feel after working out and that "happy mood" is making it even easier to keep my eating balanced. My weight loss is slow but I have to remember that shows like "The Biggest Loser" are not "real world scenarios" and that slow steady changes ... Fri, 4 Jun 2010 17:45:32 EST Back again I've been back for about 2 weeks now and feel so positive and refreshed. Don't know for sure why this time it's different. It could be that I have two friends also losing weight. They are using different programs (spending lots of money). Since I didn't have the extra money I knew where I could go for help....Sparkpeople. They are helping to motivate me in exercise and sticking together to make healthy choices helps too. Mon, 24 May 2010 22:43:59 EST I'm pre-diabetic Went to the doctor and had lots of blood work done. Turns out that I am pre-diabetic. My sugar and insulin levels were slightly high after a fasting insulin test, putting me at risk for diabetes. I am currently on a 8-12 week doctor supervised diet to "reset" my pancreas. I am having an organic/denatured whey protein shake at least twice a day and can only eat quality protein and veggies. No fruit or insulin producing veggies (tomatos, white potatoes, carrots, corn) and of course no rice... Fri, 10 Jul 2009 13:24:16 EST Finally....I lost 1 pound This journey has been a difficult one. I didn't think losing weight would be so hard. I thought if I exercised and ate less the pounds would just melt off. Since it has not, I made an appointment with my doctor. He ordered a \bunch of blood test but he thinks I may be prediabetes. I'll find out on the 8th. In the meantime I continue to workout 5-6 times per week and log all my food (about 90% of the time). I was pleasantly surprised today to see I had lost one pound---woo hoo. I am re... Wed, 1 Jul 2009 09:11:27 EST Whew...weekends over Weekends are especially diffiult staying on track. Everyone going in different directions, get-togethers, messed up meal times, etc. This weekend was no different. Baseball games, team party, shopping with teenage daughters., getting kids ready for camp, etc. For the most part I made good food choices and did get out and exercise a bit. I am glad that it is all but over and I can get back into a bit of a routine. Cravings for sweets were more intense than usual but I did a decent job o... Sun, 14 Jun 2009 22:11:06 EST Not eating enough? I think my "slump" may finally be coming to an end. After much research I believe my calorie intake was just too low (1200-1500). What I have been hearing is that my body is storing everything in anticipation of starving because I am working out so hard (burning close to 500 calories per day, most days of the week)---how crazy is that?. I increased my calorie intake as well as my protein and it seems I have since lost one pound. YOOHOO!!! I reamain diligent in working out and learning as... Fri, 12 Jun 2009 09:29:35 EST Empowered Donny is on a strick diet from the Dr., which he began on Thursday--so today he has lost 7 pounds. Where's the "fair" in that? I've been working out for over a month, counting calories and I've dropped a pound---but I'm not giving up. I am empowered to continue making right choices. I had every intention of taking today "off" from cardio but I just couldn't do it, thanks in part to my daughter. She pushed and encouraged and we did our 6 mile bike trek around the lake. I know it's only a... Sat, 6 Jun 2009 18:01:14 EST Feeling Great!!! I have been so diligent in my biking and then swimming laps. Since I haven't lost any weight I am adjusting my food intake. I'm decreasing my carbs and increasing my protein........hopefully that will do the trick. I really want to be down to 120 by September when I go on my FIRST CRUISE----WOOHOO!!! I have a goal, I have a plan and I just need to keep from being discouraged. 211 Thu, 4 Jun 2009 13:55:08 EST Feel good but no weight loss I have been diligently working out now for over a month. I'm mixing it up and trying to incorporate healthy activity----biking to the store instead of driving, swimming, walking, etc. My struggle is that I have not lost any weight, nor are my cloths getting looser. I'm at a loss for what is going on. I am logging all the food I eat and although I am not perfect I am making good choices most of the time. Not sure if I should cut calories more or if my problem is too much exercise and not ... Mon, 1 Jun 2009 21:39:58 EST
