CAMEOSUN's SparkPeople Blog CAMEOSUN's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community How are you all? I have not been on here for awhile. Hope you all doing well. Taking one-day-at-a-time. Sat, 4 Feb 2017 17:20:35 EST Wrong Direction I have just returned from helping to care for my mom who was in the hospital. She has CHF [congestive heart failure] and she had O.D.'ed [accidently] on Milk of Magnesia. Her magnesium level was 11.7. Normal is about 2. The doctor had dialysis done on her & placed her in a medically induced coma. She is back at home, but in "not so good" shape. She is very overweight and hasn't exercised in...forever. She can improve her situation, but it is a "personal choice."

Anywa... Thu, 31 Mar 2016 11:38:53 EST One-day-at-a-time I got on the scale yesterday a.m. and shock...weight is up to 145. I'm only 5'2". "It" visibly spills over the top of my pants when I put them on. It's just wrong. It's a new month and I will stick to my exercise & meal plan [eat less & not sit around so much]. Hope to post positive results the end of the month.

In Sept. 2016 a new grandchild will arrive. Looking forward to meeting this new little person.

I hope you all are doing well. About a week ago our son came home from school & said that his coach [for the class] told him that he needed to drink at least a 1/2 gallon of whole milk per day because the growth hormones in it will make his 'body build' larger. I thought growth hormones were no longer in milk? Anyone know about this? Mon, 28 Dec 2015 11:23:32 EST New Motivators Our newest family additions have helped me to keep in shape. The bunnies are 5-month old Holland Lops. I trek up and down a hill to our lower property to feed them, etc. They have been a lot of fun to have around.
Mon, 14 Dec 2015 04:47:15 EST Changes I had not posted a blog on here for over a year! We have moved from our Alaska home. I do miss it, but feel this is where God wants us for now. We found a nice home in the country with some acres. We have "new" neighbors...deer, wild turkey, bunnies...peaceful. It's nice to be closer to our eldest kids & their families.
My weight has gone up now that we have access to so many restaurants & stores. I need to lose some pounds again.
<img src=" Sat, 24 Oct 2015 01:56:18 EST Eldest daughter & I Son-in-law took this photo a few days ago. Tue, 9 Sep 2014 21:04:25 EST September It's a new month, so I am hoping to stay on track w/ the eating & exercise. Yesterday we walked in the morning and then went on an evening bike ride. That was a total of about 5 miles exercise. There are big hills to climb for our walk. I think I overdid it, because woke this morning feeling a little stressed [physically]. Moderation is key.

Hope you all are doing well. One-day-at-a-time.

This picture is where we biked to [the view from under our town's only bridge].... Tue, 2 Sep 2014 19:14:55 EST Our evenings... We have been getting out a lot and walking. Our kids [the ones still @ home] will sometimes tag along [w/ their fish poles]. Wed, 23 Jul 2014 03:46:50 EST ...remember that tooth I broke Just venting here...

Yesterday, while eating popcorn [BIG HUGE mistake] the other back half of the same tooth broke off [former Blog of it]. Obviously, I never got the crown the dentist suggested for $1700. However, I still have the front of that tooth. So, this tooth is a Premolar and now looks and feels like an Incisor. No pain at all. No dental insurance, since retirement.

A friend of mine had one of her back teeth pulled. She didn't want a root canal & crown... Fri, 6 Jun 2014 15:10:13 EST Ocean hike This hike is not as long although there are some good-size stairs in the paths in the woods. I had taken 14 y.o. son out driving [new permit] and we stopped at Halibut Point park to take a break [my nerves needed one]. 41 We have 3 teens who all have their permits now - so yeah... 198

These pictures were taken while we were at Halibut Point today. Weather has been perfect.

... Wed, 30 Apr 2014 21:24:12 EST Favorite Hike I thought I would share some pictures of my favorite hiking trail. It's called the Cross-trails and it runs along the base of the mountains here on the island. Several spots on the trail are quite a climb but the view is rewarding [Pacific Ocean and the islands]. I went on the hike yesterday with our two youngest kids [ages 14 and 9]. I walked and they biked. The last two pictures was the bridge overlooking a small waterfall.

<img src=" Thu, 24 Apr 2014 01:29:12 EST Broke filling/ tooth I was eating a taco @ home [I should've had the burrito] and I broke a filling [mostly] and maybe part of the tooth. It was a bottom pre-molar [back part]. It doesn't really hurt [well maybe a little]. But, for some reason I thought the dentist could just refill the spot. So I made an appt. expecting that filling to happen. But, of course he says he would recommend a "crown" to the tune of $1700. We are retired & have no dental insurance. However, there is a small military clinic here.... Thu, 3 Apr 2014 01:34:18 EST Change scene Currently traveling & visiting colleges w/ one of our son's. It's great to get away and be w/ such positive energetic youth. Sun, 16 Mar 2014 18:13:41 EST …more stress Appetite is down and stress up. I posted on here several months ago about husband who retired & has also had Pancreatitis in the past. Now, there are other issues - may be having an identity crisis? I don't know. But I do know that he most definitely needs Jesus in his life. He grew up [I mentioned before] in a Legalistic religion and so he never was taught about a personal relationship w/ the Lord. It was "rules & rituals...

This is having an effect on our entire family's well... Tue, 11 Mar 2014 13:39:44 EST Choices Yesterday I ate way to much. It was because of stress & trying to calm nerves. Our son is trying to narrow down his college choice. I just found out that one of his scholarships is only good for in-state colleges. He wants to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree. The Univ. of Alaska - Fairbanks offers that degree. Problem is that it is so extremely cold there. Normal average winter temp.'s are around -16. I wish this Degree could be offered online, so he could still use the scholar... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 13:52:30 EST Aura was Red Someone else had this posted on their blog. Wondered if any of you had tried it before?
It was spot on for me. Red.

ur_aura_2 Thu, 13 Feb 2014 20:02:55 EST Got a Juicer [machine] I didn't really ever want a "juicer" only because I thought it would take a mass amount of fruits and/or vege's to produce any kind of juice. Well…that was wrong. I am still amazed at how much juice is even in just one carrot. Husband had ordered one & it arrived yesterday [from Amazon: Breville Juice Fountain Compact $99]. Anyway, this morning husband went down to the store and got one sweet potato, some carrots [used 3 of them] and an orange. We peeled them all and put them in the machi... Tue, 4 Feb 2014 17:34:16 EST Narrow it down... I was feeling fine today. I had some oatmeal w/ raisins & walnuts for breakfast (1/2 cup). Then as I was cleaning the kitchen this afternoon, son (13) had left some of his smoothie in the blender. So I finished it [about a cup]. Ever since then I have had a bad stomach ache and feel bloated. He put strawberries, blueberries, protein powder, milk, honey and yogurt in it. I'm thinking it was the milk or the protein powder that's causing the problem? Or could it be the berries? Anyone els... Tue, 28 Jan 2014 20:18:46 EST Many SPFriends haven't been on here in years... I went through my SP Friend list to see how some others were doing and find out that many hadn't logged on in 2 yrs. or so. I sadly deleted them. Has that happened on your SP Friend lists too? Sun, 19 Jan 2014 19:33:35 EST Healing day Felt like I was dragging most of the day today. I think it was because yesterday I had done a late afternoon workout on the Rebounder and then after supper husband wanted to go for a walk around the block. Well…our block is like a mile or so and there are some pretty extreme hills to climb. We're on an island with mountains [you can imagine]. Most likely, my body said enough. It's time to recover. Glad the weekend is here.

Nerves are also on the mend. Yep, I'm still teaching... Sat, 11 Jan 2014 02:39:52 EST Do you 'date night'? Husband brought up doing a 'date night'…we've been married for 30 yrs. I know of other couples who do this & we just never have. It sounds like a nice idea because we still have 4 kids at home. There's only 2 movie theaters in town & several restaurants…?? We do go for walks together, but we aren't really relaxing or communicating much [walk at a fast pace…].

I had a better idea - - go on the honeymoon we never got [we were both working] - - like to Hawaii. 298 ... Thu, 2 Jan 2014 19:29:58 EST Nice Walk/ Drive Took both teens out to practice their driving this afternoon/ evening. Husband said he just does not have the nerves or enough blood pressure meds to deal with it. 198

We stopped a few times, parked and walked and took some pictures. The weather was trying to clear up and the sun came out for a little while [very little…like right before sundown.]

Hope you got some exercise in also. 104

<img src=" Wed, 1 Jan 2014 23:46:39 EST Good intentions

Dh and I headed out for a walk this morning and there was no rain when we left. Temp. was at 37 degrees so we dressed warmer. We walked the docks and looked at some boats for sale. Then the wind picked up and it started to rain. So, we headed back to the truck to get warm. At least we tried.

Just taking it one-day-at-a-time…not making any New Year resolutions.

How about you? Wed, 1 Jan 2014 00:05:19 EST Holidays ~ Well…I went over calorie-limit by about 300 and I can feel it. Feeling bloated.
It just was not possible to stay away from the goodies. Friends brought cookies & fudge 40 - - it was too tempting. Will just have to get back on track tomorrow. Although it is 9 pm. and I think I'm just going to go for a short walk. I am not tired and it isn't cold out [43 degrees]. We have no snow [rain washed it away].

How did you all do for the holidays? Thu, 26 Dec 2013 01:13:06 EST Chocolate Chip Cheesecake I had been feeling so good lately. Then just one item "chocolate chip cheesecake" threw me off course. I had not been eating desserts like that...or any desserts for that matter. It is amazing how the body can get used to eating a certain way [healthy foods] and does not function well with "junk" thrown in. So...have learned the lesson, but in the meantime am feeling the pain [stomach ache]. I only had one piece. 198 Tue, 10 Dec 2013 00:16:20 EST Popcorn... Anyone else have a problem digesting popcorn? It used to never be a problem, but lately I just end up with abdominal pain & digestive issues when I eat it. Probably something do with getting older & digestion. Wed, 16 Oct 2013 23:43:13 EST More picture(s) - the dress I wore I don't have all the pictures from son's wedding (but someone sent me this one). Picture of Newlyweds in the Blog (below). I ended up wearing a light blue maxi dress w/jacket for the event. It worked well because the reception was in a park. The weather was beautiful, however the food area was a large covered gazebo and it was cold in there.

Here is a pic of me and my 4 youngest kiddos at the church:

<img src=" Tue, 8 Oct 2013 20:22:12 EST New family addition... Knew that.

Glad to have gotten tests done.
Hope you all get yours too. Fri, 27 Sep 2013 00:52:58 EST ...too late to order Thanks for all your input on the potential dress selection. It was too late to order a dress and get it here in time. Now, I am going to have to "shop" as soon as we get to Portland [those who don't know, we live on an island in Alaska] - there is "nothing" for clothing here. Well, except for rain gear and X-tra Tuffs (rain/ fishing boots). I don't think our son wants us to show up to his wedding in that. 20

I have also been trying to beat the deadline for our "re... Sat, 21 Sep 2013 17:50:37 EST Yes or No to the dress... I am seriously having a hard time deciding on a dress for the upcoming wedding (son's).
Which one? The last dress here also comes in a light beige rather than Navy (I think a black one is pictured).

...with the stress of selling the house & the upcoming wedding & travel that goes with it...I've lost weight. "Relaxing in the river"

Fri, 30 Aug 2013 19:32:03 EST Does this happen where u live? Our dentist, our eye doctor and now our medical clinic. They ALL only work 4 days a week - - not open on Fridays. I was going to schedule some appts. today [guess not]. My take on this is that they have a "captive audience" - where else are we going for care? We live on an island. 198

Our town.
Fri, 30 Aug 2013 13:46:17 EST It's on the market Finally, got the incentive to put our home on the market to sell. I left the dentist with another temp. crown put on because the perm. crown for the tooth needs a better color-match. They have to send it out for that. I'm hoping that this sensitivity will go away and he didn't damage anything by yanking too hard.

The tooth was chipped when I was 10 y.o. This is uncommon for us who live in the Inside Passage of Alaska. We usually have constant rain and/or overcast skies. Our raspberries, outside the back door have produced an abundant crop. That is a good sign.

Sat, 27 Jul 2013 19:47:10 EST Unexpected summer project Husband (newly retired) took a trip to visit relatives (down south). Most everything is down south as we are in Alaska. He took one of our son's with him. While gone only 3 days - we smelled fuel downstairs. Followed the smell & found the home fuel oil tank leaking out back...and it had just been filled (275 gallons). I had no idea who to call - thought of calling 911. [Still wonder what they would have done??] Anyway, I ended up calling a friend up the hill from us because they own many pr... Fri, 26 Jul 2013 12:40:31 EST Summer job Well ! We were so happy that teen son got a summer job. However, it's at the grocery store [just down the hill from us] and he has picked up germs [sickness]. These were shared with little sister and now I have it. I've got a dental appt. tomorrow & have got to go as we are running out of time [insurance]. Will gargle w/salt water, take my Vit. The truth is that we just aren't disciplined enough to stop eating in excess and we aren't being disciplined enough to stick to some sort of exercise.

It is a "mind-set" and we need to STICK with it. Fri, 21 Jun 2013 14:04:45 EST It's moving (thx for your prayers) Well !! Good news so far. DD's surgery is done and she is able, ever so slightly, but is moving / bending that finger...finally ! The surgeon on Tues. (6/18) was able to remove some scar tissue from the one tendon that will bend the middle knuckle area. However, the last joint of the finger the surgeon said that the tendon had broke apart again and he could not get it to stretch back enough to reconnect (it had been over a year). So...this is better than "no use of that finger at all." ... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 02:35:45 EST
