So after a very stressful day my wife wanted to have a slice of pizza from out local Italian neighborhood. It's really a GREAT deal; one slice (as big as your head) plus a 6 oz cup for all the soda you want.

I put on my Sparks-face and ordered a large Romaine salad with chicken breast. But the chicken was lightly breaded and fried. There was only about 2 oz of chicken breast pieces. And I had some French dressing on the side so I could DIP my salad with a fork just to ge... Mon, 8 Jul 2013 20:40:09 EST I have a new workout partner http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5409629 My wife has agreed to let me 'coach' her workouts and discuss daily meals with her FOR ONE MONTH! I am so excited and proud of her.

She does not yet like ALL the fresh veges and fruit as I do but we are incorporating more veges and fruit toward a balanced meal plan. NOT A DIET.

This helps me PLAN each workout and get her used to muscle toning. This is HUGE. All she ever did was Cardio...that alone never worked before. Now she is also focusing on her Core and mus... Wed, 3 Jul 2013 12:31:42 EST A new ENTRY plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5403457 I am building to get back to a ROUTINE. The most important part is getting my mind working toward ANTICIPATION of each day and week's goals.

It's key to think ahead and predict each outcome of eating and exercising. This is my new challenge after being away for several weeks. I so regret missing the great learning behavior and routine I had before.

But, I know it's time to reclaim my work toward a FITTER ME! Thu, 27 Jun 2013 11:11:13 EST Calories burned and INTAKE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5285212 I have arrived. My life with Sparks has taught me to record my daily nutrition as well as exercise. The one challenge that I have is to EAT ENOUGH. Let me explain...Now that I am eating the right foods it is not always easy to EAT ENOUGH CALORIES, keep Carbs LOW (for diabetes), intake enough FAT, and also fulfill my daily FIBER. Plus any other nutrients that are necessary.

This is a good thing. I have to EAT MORE to WEIGH LESS. It's almost too good to be true. Wed, 13 Mar 2013 12:10:25 EST I ACTUALLY GOT MY DOCTOR TO SMILE TODAY http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5282820 I had a follow up visit today with my doctor. My A1C came down from 8.1 to 5.3 in3 months. She removed my Glimperide medication. i lost 18 pounds. My blood pressure is much lower and she may start lower MY BP meds in the near future if I keep showing improvement and working hard on my nutrition and exercise.

This is my dream come true'. A healthier and happier me! My goal is to loose 20 more pounds within the next 3 months. I vow to WORK HARD TO SEE THAT BECOME A REALIT... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 16:43:59 EST about Spark RECIPE'S JALAPENO http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5280046 In order to stay on track and improve my daily intake of different nutrition I now have a desire to try different recipe's to my interest and liking from Sparks. This week I made the 'SMART' Jalapeno Poppers and they were so good. There are 2 peppers per serving but I used several tasty and FRESH ingredients. In fact, I am going to make a batch today for my family to try.

Also, I am noticing that I enjoy making these healthy recipes because they require I use different flavors... Sat, 9 Mar 2013 11:46:26 EST Planned day but unplanned social 'Dinner' http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5275730 A couple of weeks ago we were invited to a Vietnamese restaurant. We experienced Thai food but never this new adventure of Vietnamese. I checked the menu online hours before our time to meet another couple. I STRONGLY SUGGEST ANYONE WITH AN OPEN MIND FIND A REASONABLE PRICED VIETNAMESE PLACE TO EAT. BE SURE TO MAKE SURE THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE AND THE REPUTATION IS WELL KNOWN. Fortunately the other couple was very familiar with this restaurant and their credibility. VIETNAMESE MENU'S C... Wed, 6 Mar 2013 10:33:25 EST this is a HUGE DAY for me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5274190 This is a major day in my Spark life. I actually lost 20 pounds with nutrition and exercise 334 . AND my doctor called today and asked me to STOP taking my GLIMPERIDE for a week until we have our next appointment. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Tue, 5 Mar 2013 11:12:17 EST DAILY STRESS WHEN I 'MEAL-PLAN' http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5271111 JEEEZ. I am enjoying my Spark challenges; the educational, fun, and goal platform of our program. And I have lost 18# since joining in Dec 2012. But, planning my daily meals is always a task that adds stress to my day. I have learned to keep nutritional items on-hand, like lowfat Swiss Cheese from Whole Foods along with Walnuts and Almonds. I have veges on hand and like a cucumber salad or a Avocado on hand for healthy fat.
But my bottom line is the daily planning of nutrition. ... Sun, 3 Mar 2013 12:51:57 EST outside SABOTAGE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5260961 I really have good support from my beautiful wife. And I have a best friend/fishing buddy that is an RN. But he is healthy and skinny young guy with 2 children. So, while I bring healthy snacks in the car (I've yet to try healthy food to bring onto the boat for this summer when we fish for 10 hours each day). But, he understands if we are out long hanging out at Bass Pro shops and I NEED to eat something (a meal) before my Glucose crashes. But he is very understanding. I HAVE TO be cons... Sat, 23 Feb 2013 11:21:28 EST NOT a HAPPY MEAL for lunch today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5260425 I was feeling low on sugar while I was running errands and with my contractor getting construction supplies. Anyway, I did Excellent during the afternoon by being prepared with Walnuts, one apple, and a low fat Mozzarella stick.
But I could not get back home soon enough to eat my 'planned' tuna wrap with lettuce. And I had to feed the other guy...so they wanted a Maxwell Polish sausage (its a big time Chicago 75 year sandwich). I ate a Jewish Polish Sausage with the bun and about... Fri, 22 Feb 2013 20:46:36 EST the BIG PICTURE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5257276 I want to get in good health for a few good reasons. First, since it's just me and my wife I want to have a long happy life together. I can't imagine something happening to myself and leaving her alone in this world or being without her for that matter. Second, I want to have a 'spring in my step'. To walk up stairs without having to struggle or take a 2 hour walk with my wife to the lakefront and seize the day. Third, I want to show my doctors that with my new Spark lifestyle I can atta... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:50:18 EST AMAZING FOOD http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5255362 My wife made me the most amazing Mexican Enchiladas tonight.
And all I had was 2 Whole Wheat tortillas topped with light cheese and stuffed with vegetarian refried beans (very low cal) and topped it off with nutritious Enchilada sauce, Then she cut up half a tomato and lettuce and one celery stalk on a seperate plate to eat alongside my happy meal...mmmm so good. Mon, 18 Feb 2013 20:39:12 EST TRICKY: putting a plan into ACTION http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252972 I am finding that planning meals for the day is a great feeling of accomplishment. But at the time of each meal...or a change of plans can make life very challenging. I did order COD fish today; but all they had was fried. I DID pass on the meal-deal with Cole slaw, fries and bread. I DID order a 1/2 cup of FRESH FRUIT. That was a little better to round off that meal. Sat, 16 Feb 2013 20:23:29 EST When we are trying our best then it all comes together http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5251018 I put an effort in preparing for meals and doing my short workout. Even though I am starting out now...that 20" Resistance Band workout means I am moving and getting a start.

My success today was bringing a nutritious meal on the road and AVOIDING the temptation to dine-out when I had all this delicious chicken, fruit, and veges in my own fridge. I WON the day. And it feels good. Thu, 14 Feb 2013 23:48:50 EST PLANNING TAKES THE PLACE OF WORRY http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5249080 I heard this saying a long time ago from a co-worker. This rings true at this time is my Sparked' life. Wed, 13 Feb 2013 12:35:21 EST errands and need to get my TREADMILL in today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5249078 I have to mulit-task with contractors today. Taking control and going to seize the day so I can clarify their schedules so I can get on the treadmill. Also, my friend called and wants to take me to lunch. This can be a great break then I could get on the treadmill. Planning takes the place of worry. Wed, 13 Feb 2013 12:34:28 EST workout excusessss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5247674 I am finding that setting a time to workout will actually get the job done! So, if I have an apple (for carbs and nutrition) in the morning before I want my early workout, then I have to change clothes and get TO IT!

Also, I think to myself that I want to maybe go on the treadmill later in the evening for an ADDITIONAL calorie-burn but it can be easy for me to have DISTRACTIONS and get the second workout of the day completed. Tue, 12 Feb 2013 11:26:03 EST WHAT IT TAKES TO LOOSE JUST ONE POUND' http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5245875 we must burn appr 3,500 CALORIES in order to loose ONE POUND OF BODY FAT!!! This was a POWERFUL fact that impacted my personal 'cause and effect' MOTIVATION. Mon, 11 Feb 2013 02:40:49 EST SPARK GUY is right on! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5245814 I am noticing that my clothes fit 'different'; some are looser than 2 months ago. But I believe that now I will CHALLENGE my scale and NOT go on it for 2 weeks. This might be the SPARK to get back into the workout and nutrition path I was so trying hard to stay on. Mon, 11 Feb 2013 00:21:48 EST ohhhh I ate the whole thing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5244504 I was out all day at a fishing Expo- indoors. I walked outside in the cold for about one mile (we had to park far and chose not to take the shuttle). But today I had a hot dog with bun for lunch, and a 9" sausage and veggie pizza for dinner with a small salad (oil and vinegar I put on myself). I don't like the way this feels today. Sat, 9 Feb 2013 22:20:10 EST Another day to stay focused and on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5242116 It was a long day. But I stayed on track and even had a piece of Worlds Finest Chocolate. I read the ingredients first and found out that some chocolate is good for you. The hat-trick here was TO ONLY EAT ONE SERVING...but it was so fun. Thu, 7 Feb 2013 21:08:12 EST Started my Resistance Band training ughhh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5240759 The FIRST time is a little slow...trying to tie the bands to furniture, wrap them around my feet, and reading the instructions in between each exercise. But, it must have worked because I can feel those muscles get a little sore.
My weight has been the same for the past 3 days....I'll keep working.

Wed, 6 Feb 2013 21:03:23 EST on my way to loosing some weight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5226083 I have been very diligent and serious about my weight loss. I watched Coach Nicoles video today and she made a great point. Take your health as serious as your career and other goads. Today I logged 15 POUNDS lost so far. i am sooo happy for myself. Sun, 27 Jan 2013 19:57:52 EST how nuch Fiber do I need? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5215882 I want to add a FIBER to my 'tracker'. How do I find out what range I should track my fiber so I can create that in my tracker? Sun, 20 Jan 2013 17:43:41 EST very bad meal planning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5212210 I went to dinner and ordered a bowl of chili (no beans) and it had about 1-2 oz of ground meat. Then I had 1.5 Italian meatballs (no bread) with just a teaspoon of red sauce. And 2 glasses of water.

After I entered my meal into the tracker I realized that I could have eaten one of the other. YIKES! Thu, 17 Jan 2013 22:07:23 EST HELP! My family wants to eat at CHINATOWN tonight! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5207198 Any advice? What kinds of things can I eat in Chinatown, Chicago. This is a very nice dinner place. I am pretty open but not wanting Tofu'. Mon, 14 Jan 2013 18:49:17 EST ORGANIZE YOUR HOUSE FOR A NEW GOAL http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5194042 We recently started putting in new Container Store closet components and also am gutting our master bathroom. This has kept me very active, my mind focused, and using these personal goals along with Sparking my nutrition, articles, and Spark Radio while I work. It's a refreshing move in this New Year. Sun, 6 Jan 2013 23:04:44 EST GLUCOSE CRASHING http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5191964 I ate a VERY HEALTHY breakfast and lunch today. But I had about 3 cups of coffee (and 2 glasses of cold water) with lunch which I rarely have since SPARKING. About 2 hours after lunch ...my sugar CRASHED to about 87 and had to eat about 7 pieces of chocolate raisins along with 2 glasses of cold water. !!! I suggest if anyone has this problem they GOOGLE SEARCH on Sparks 'GLUCOSE CRASHING'. There is a great article in Wikipedia to explain in detail about 'CRASHING'. THIS MIGHT HELP OTHER DIABE... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 18:01:24 EST Balance is a BIG TASK http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5190739 I am so full after getting in my 8/8 water today. My overall nutrition is EXCELLEN compared to my old habits. But I can see this getting tricky by balancing my Cal + Carbs + Protein + sugar + FAT to get these at my TARGET daily requirements. The overall daily BALANCE is challenging to say the least.
I ate great portions today but came a little short on Calories and Protein. I think I have 'food exhaustion' and don't want to eat anymore today. GOODNIGHT. Need my 8 hours sleep f... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 21:47:32 EST A REALLY BIG MEAL http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5181253 Well, my glucose was 87 last night after an extreme day of carry marble tiles up and down three flights of stairs. Went to Chinatown to have Vegie Chow Mein with Shrimp + chicken + beef.
2 hours later my glucose was 302!!!! Overate and paid for the results. THAT was a reality check and I am going to achieve all my goals in 2013!!! I just started SPARKS this month and have been keeping my sugar controlled except for this 40 one bad day. I'm back. Sun, 30 Dec 2012 18:54:44 EST
