I think it is because I have people with like goals and interest to mine. Though none of my Sparkfriends know me personally, it seems they want me to succeed. I know I want them to succeed! I like sharing in the excitement when they reach a milestone. Here you don't get mocked for posting "Headed to the gym" or "Just ate a delicious low-cal meal" it is celebrated. The positive energy here is contagious. Even when I feel off track, I also feel ... Tue, 25 Jun 2013 09:22:22 EST Happy Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5399094 Wishing everyone a happy Sunday. I have had a great morning and am hoping to share the positive energy. I woke up feeling energized, went to workout and am feeling euphoric now. The nice "high" after an intense workout. Hopefully, nothing will spoil my good mood. Certainly not having a Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family 334 Today is going to be such a good day. Sun, 23 Jun 2013 12:14:09 EST Feeling Good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5397231 I went to my gym to exercise and I haven't been there in a while. I've been swimming a lot. However, I pay for the gym membership every month so I figured I would go. I walk in and the owner of the gym says "Wow! Have you lost weight?" I grinned the entire time I was working out, and it wasn't just because I was watching Melissa & Joey, lol. It was a nice feeling. I have been eating above my calorie range but I also have been burning more than the suggested calories. I realized while followin... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 10:32:52 EST Travelling Advice http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5395265 I am about to take a trip, again, and I prefer not to repeat last week. This trip is 4 1/2- 5 hours one way, we are staying for at least 2 days maybe 3, and then making the 4 1/2-5 hour trip back home. Any tips on staying on track? How do I control portions on the go? What about for meals while we are away from home? Wed, 19 Jun 2013 13:45:04 EST Stumble, Stumble, Stumble...*sigh* http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5393317 So the past week was incredibly busy for me and included really early mornings. 46 I'm not a morning person. A friend of mine asked me to help out with Vacation Bible School, and I agreed even though I am NOT a Christian. I had to be there by 8:30 am, I'm usually just waking up around 8, lol. Since we only have one car I had to wake up before 6 am to get ready, get Liam ready, drive hubby to work, etc. I didn't really have time to make breakfast so we ate out a lot this week. Not ... Tue, 18 Jun 2013 11:07:23 EST Tired, So Tired...Losing Steam http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5380629 Though I have been sticking to my calorie diet pretty hard (and according to hubby, obsessively), I have sort of lost my steam for going to the gym. I make it on the weekends but it has been tough during the day. I can go swimming, when it's not raining, but by the time my hubby gets home I'm exhausted. Is it a lack of energy from not sleeping well? or from not enough calories? I have no idea. I'm trying to stay awake right now by writing this blog. I even grabbed a couple of Diet Dr. Peppers... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 18:23:12 EST 5 Things I've learned about being "healthy" http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5373766 These are the things I've learned despite what most people (the media and advertising companies) say.
1. Carbohydrates are not bad for you, but, yes, protein is too.
2. You do not need meat to live. Just protein.
3. Just because it is advertised as healthy, doesn't mean it is.
4. You can have anything in moderation and be okay.
5.Sugar is sugar is sugar. Whether it is honey, agave nectar, white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, etc, doesn't matter because it is all the... Fri, 31 May 2013 14:36:11 EST Swimming, the best workout. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5373045 Liam and I have been swimming three days this week. So now I am way over on burning calories, which isn't a bad thing, per se. Today, I finally managed to buy DS some water wings and a floaty. I think it helped him have even more fun. He really didn't want to get out of the water, but he was so worn out that he had trouble walking back to the apartment. All in all, a perfect day, I got exercise that didn't feel anything like exercising. I know I'm going to feel it tomorrow (my abs already hu... Thu, 30 May 2013 22:25:05 EST Bright Sunny Days and Sunburns http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5367193 Today was the first day it wasn't raining. Though a little cool and definitely windy, I took my son swimming. It was suppose to be a day with my sisters (referred to here as Nikki, Leah and Dawn) and they texted me that they were on their way. They weren't. DS and I were at the pool for an hour before they showed. He had a blast, though. We stayed another hour with my sisters. As a result, I am incredibly sunburned. Luckily, DS has naturally darker skin. Leah, on the other hand, is pasty whit... Fri, 24 May 2013 23:21:02 EST Maybe I should increase my calorie intake... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5365778 So I have been strictly following my 1200-1400 calorie allotment, sticking closer to 1200-1300. Yesterday, I had a terrible headache and I thought maybe it was stress. I went to work out. I was 6 minutes into walking on the treadmill, when I suddenly felt dizzy, nauseous, and light headed. I nearly lost my balance and was close to passing out. I went and splashed water on my face to keep from being overheated. It helped a little but I called it a day. I've either been pushing too hard or need... Thu, 23 May 2013 14:30:09 EST Swimming Pools and Rainy Days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5364794 My son was very excited about swimming, and we have been talking it up for a while even before the pools opened. Well, they opened over this past weekend, and we went on Sunday. Everyday since it has done nothing but rain. He has been asking to go, I have tried explain that you don't go swimming while it is raining. He doesn't really understand, but he did look outside and say "Raining? Go away, raining!" Cutest thing ever, lol. I do wish I could take him swimming. I'm starting to wonder what... Wed, 22 May 2013 16:16:56 EST The Journey http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5363547 I am finally down to 214, its not my goal but it is progress. At the beginning of this year, I weighed myself at my heaviest ever 230 lbs. While 16 lbs isn't a lot for 5 months, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will never see those 16 lbs again. My sister managed to lose 50 lbs in 5 months and while it made me feel like I wasn't making progress I know she is probably going to see most if not all of it come back since she lost it by only eating one meal a day. From where I am standing ... Tue, 21 May 2013 13:53:53 EST Feeling Alone http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5361548 Today, two boy scouts became Eagle scouts which is the highest rank for boy scouts. I attended the ceremony with my husband, since he had been their senior patrol leader. (If you don't know what that is don't worry, I don't really either.) Anyway, they had a reception with cake and sundaes and I was the only person not eating one. I felt left out and people kept telling me to get some. "Oh, one little piece of cake won't hurt" or "it's just one sundae, go ahead, we won't tell". My favorite is... Sun, 19 May 2013 21:39:09 EST Making Kid Lunches Fun http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5357392 As the mom of a picky toddler, I find it difficult getting him to eat his food. So, in a burst of creativity I used my cookie cutters to make a Safari lunch. I have elephant, rhino and crocodile cookie cutters.

Taking whole wheat with honey bread, I use the cookie cutters of his choice to cut off the crust. I use reduced fat cheese slices and take my cutter to them, he usually eats the cheese leftover. I make grilled cheese topped with spinach. I don't use butter or spray and th...
