I am actually looking forward to next year! I am working at my old school 1 day a week. I'm happy with this. I still get to hang out with some amazing kids, I get to see my cool workmates, and I get to mainly avoid the workmates who made my life hell! ... Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:18:32 EST I quit my job http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6033140 After over a week of stress, anxiety, and insomnia, I finally handed in my resignation. I have been unhappy in my job all year and it has just gotten worse and worse. I'm burn out, I'm exhausted, and I need a break for a while. I am on anti anxiety medication now, and I'm feeling a lot better, but I have to keep reminding myself that being medicated to do a job is not a good thing, and even though I feel better my situation isn't better.

I have been looking for jobs outside of tea... Mon, 16 Nov 2015 14:12:36 EST Insomnia sucks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6030820 So, I had 3 days off following my diagnosis of exhaustion. I took my 3 days worth of sleeping pills, as instructed, and tonight is my first night without them... And it's 1:30am and I'm still awake. I tried taking a couple of melatonin, but that only made me sleepy. It didn't put me to sleep. My mind is whirring and it just won't stop. I can't stop it and I hate it.

I have passed the time by watching crappy TV and writing my resignation letter. I can't live my life like this, I ref... Thu, 12 Nov 2015 07:33:17 EST Officially dianosed with exhaustion http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6029521 I went to the doctor on Monday. I hadn't slept properly in weeks. I was stressed, my mind was constantly racing, I was over thinking every single second of my job, I was having nightmares when I was sleeping... So I took myself to the doctors yesterday and told her all of the above, while sobbing. Nothing like a good sob in a doctors office! She told me that I have exhaustion caused by stress. I have a medical certificate for 3 days off work and some strong sleeping pills for the next couple ... Mon, 9 Nov 2015 22:06:15 EST Working, and gymming, and studying, OH MY! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6018773 So it's 5am. I've been up since 3am. I live in the windiest city in the world (yes, worse then Chicago) - Wellington, New Zealand. I also live 1 street away from a beach, on a hill. When it is particularly windy, like it is tonight, it is super noisy and it wakes me up. We are experiencing gusts of 130-150kph at the moment, which is almost enough to make them close the airport. So my house is being battered by these huge gusts which wake me up. Then I worry about the bunny house pulling a Wiz... Wed, 21 Oct 2015 12:52:21 EST The great gym question (plus some photos to prove I'm still alive) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6012472 Ok, that's an exaggeration. It's a fairly basic question - should I keep my gym membership?

Since I got back from my trip I have been a grand total of once. Yep. One time, in 8 weeks. I KNOW, I KNOW! I've been walking a bit, but mainly I've just been busy.

We have an exchange student now, so he takes up some time. Then there is the husband and the boy. And work, plus I'm tutoring on Wednesdays. And volunteering. And I just spent 10 days in Auckland looking after my gran... Sat, 10 Oct 2015 04:04:41 EST The 6 week adventure with too many photos http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5984274 Whew! We have been back for 10 days and I'm only just getting around to updating spark!

The husband and I had an amazing time on our holiday. As a refresher, we went on a 6 week trip to the USA, UK, France, and Singapore. It was an incredible adventure and we miss travelling already (even though there is something nice about being in our own bed).

Oh, half of the photos are on their side. Spark hates apple, so the portrait photos I took on my iphone are sideways. Free ne... Tue, 25 Aug 2015 05:31:55 EST The Diagnosis http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5936039 The first time I met my stepson, Riley, I knew something was different. He was 20 months old and didn't talk or babble at all. The more time I spent, the more sure I was - He had severe delays and possibly autism. It was more than, "boys start talking later", and, "boys are harder to toilet train". It took MONTHS of bugging until my husband started to believe me. Then we had to convince Riley's mum that she needed to get him checked out. Then we needed to wait for referrals and assessments. T... Fri, 29 May 2015 02:14:42 EST Flood! Lots of pictures http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5927821 I want to start this by saying that I am FINE! I am safe and my husband is safe. All kitties are accounted for and the bunnies are enjoying the view of their new pool from the second story of their bunny house.

This morning I called in sick to work. My voice was croaky, my head hurt, and I didn't feel well. I was on the fence about calling in sick. I probably could have dragged myself in but decided not to. And I'm glad I stayed home! Around 11am my sub teacher sent me this pictur... Thu, 14 May 2015 00:32:48 EST Tales from the gym (holy heck this is wordy!) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5925403 First off - 7 weeks and 6 days until we leave for our trip!!!!

Secondly, I've been sick again. Strep throat. For those who don't know, Strep throat is a very serious illness that needs to be treated with antibiotics to prevent it from becoming rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever causes heart damage and you can die from it. I work in a VERY high risk area. So high risk that we have a nurse come to school twice a week to swab the children to check for Strep. All the teachers know what s... Sat, 9 May 2015 17:06:19 EST Insert blog title here http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5917656 Hi all. I'm back on my laptop! The husband managed to fix it for me.

Speaking of husband, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary on Monday. We went out for dinner and then went home and ate freezer burnt wedding cake. It was a low key, but lovely, evening.

I've started a new programme at the gym! I'm enjoying it so far. It's entirely squat based which suits me down to the ground, and it's only 3 weeks so I won't get bored. I LOVE squats, and my goal is to squat 100... Sat, 25 Apr 2015 21:43:24 EST From my ipad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5914928 My laptop has died! So I'm updating from my ipad, which is far less convenient to type on!

Working out has been non existent for the past few weeks. I went to Auckland (home) for a week and had planned on not working out that week since I tend to do a lot of walking around anyway. I ended up having to stay for a second week because my dads brother started dying (cancer complications) and my parents had to come back from Malaysia (where they live) to say goodbye. I wanted to see my ... Thu, 26 Mar 2015 05:44:01 EST My commitment to myself http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5896815 First of all, WOW. My last blog must have struck a chord because it was voted a featured blog post and I got 75 comments!

I have recommitted this week. I made it to the gym 3 times! That is a very big deal for me, since I haven't been able to make it more than twice a week for ages. I went in on Monday, Wednesday, and today (Saturday) and did my weights workout. I'm considering trying the yoga class on tomorrow night at 5, but I'll see how I go. Next week I want to build in another... Sat, 21 Mar 2015 03:56:43 EST Putting myself first again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5893710 I have gotten SO bad at putting myself first lately. My job is way more demanding this year and I find myself working more evenings and weekends than I care to admit. The husband and I are slowly doing up our house which takes up weekends. My stepson spends 5 weekend days a month with us and I don't want to miss time with him. I am saying yes to too many things, and not taking time for myself. What suffers? The cooking (and the eating) and the working out. I'm averaging 2 days a week at the g... Mon, 16 Mar 2015 03:37:45 EST Argh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5888932 Ya know when you're busy? Like, really busy? Work, friends, husband, renovation work that went from being a simple days work to a 2 week ordeal? Yep, I've had that kind of week. Only made it to the gym once (OMG) but I did skim coat 3 whole walls which is a workout in itself. I've had meetings on top of meetings, planning, and just tonnes of work.

Tomorrow is a new day, and a new week. I'm committing myself to 3 gym visits next week. And I need to stop eating chocolate for energy..... Sat, 7 Mar 2015 21:44:12 EST Back to gymming http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5875200 Gymming is totally a word... right?

So I went to the gym on Tuesday for a workout, and then on Thursday to meet with my trainer. He was ready to have a go at me for not coming in for ages, but when I told him what had happened (shoulder injury that was misdiagnosed as an elbow injury and therefore mistreated) he changed his tune. I spent weeks barely able to move my arm, so going to the gym was out of the question. I couldn't even do leg work because I couldn't move my arm enough t... Being injured and unable to work out meant I didn't have a lot to say! I injured my arm during kick boxing 3 months ago and after months of physio I tried seeing a chiropractor. 2 sessions later and my arm is basically fine. I go for the occasional massage to get the knots out, but other than that I am as good as new! The chiro fixed my quads, too, as it was a simple muscular is... Fri, 6 Feb 2015 00:55:32 EST A very kiwi Chirstmas (photos) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5838968 Ok, so this post has almost nothing to do with a kiwi Christmas, mainly because I haven't celebrated in 3 years. Too much money involved. Riley got a present, but that's it. It does, however, give a recap of my post gastro bug, pre Christmas happenings.

I've spent heaps of time with this goose. Uncontrollable diarrhoea probably helped, too. Feel so sick for 5 days that you can barely eat.

Easy, huh?

I'm going back to the doctor this afternoon.

I managed to feel better for a whole 24 hours, which happened to be yesterday. Good timing, because it was my birthday. I spent a tonne of money on flying to Auckland for the weekend and ended up being sick for half of the time. Pretty awful birthday weekend. ... The 4 pairs I bought when I first got to a size 10 are starting to fall apart. They have been very well worn over the past 2 years and are developing some air vents in the bottom area.

I went to the second hand shop to get some new jeans. $5 per pair for barely worn, good quality, jeans? Yes, please!

I ended up with 4 pairs of jeans; 2 size 10 and 2 size 11. I tried on a pair of size 9's that alllllmost fit, they just didn't ... Sun, 23 Nov 2014 02:46:04 EST I have the cardio blahs. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5819269 I don't really like cardio. I never have. I liked boxing, but that was more about the social aspect than the actual activity. I do enjoy the GRIT classes at the gym because they are only 30 minutes but there is only 1 I can go to and I can't make it every week because I pick up Riley every second week. So I tried new things, like BodyAttack and Kickboxing because they fit into my timetable, but I didn't love them. The past 2 weeks I haven't even been able to force myself to go! I'll never mis... Then my kids caught my yawns. And I caught theirs. We lost 10 minute chunks of the day because we were all yawning and passing it on.

If you read that without yawning you win a prize.

Anyways, I left work and made an instant assessment - I am tired and sore. No gym today! I'd rather skip my cardio class than my weights session tomorrow. I headed home and made a lazy dinner - frozen, crumbed fish, and chips. No veggi... HEALTHY baking.

Now, I love to bake. I'm good at it and I find it relaxing. I like to find new recipes and then do stuff that isn't in the recipe and cross my fingers. Thanks for asking!

Basically I am sticking to it. Healthy meals and snacks, fruit for dessert, no fast food, etc. Have I been perfect? Not at all. I have had a couple of chocolates. I made the decision that if I wanted chocolate I could have 1 high quality chocolate. A handmade expensive one, not a rubbish mass produced chocolate bar. I love having her stay - built in babysitter means I can go to the supermarket solo, I can hit the gym on Monday, and she always spoils Riley.

The downfall of having my mum to stay is that she is morbidly obese, and eats like it. She is also very fussy. Yesterday I went to the supermarket and she asked that I bring home dessert. We don't have dessert any more so I was hesitant to, but I did as I was aske... I had a plan. I was motivated. I did the opposite! In the end what it came down to was my realisation that celebrating my husbands birthday was more important than a silly challenge. One meal wasn't going to change anything! So I had a glass of wine and promptly felt VERY tipsy. A busy day at work meant that I hadn't eaten very much and since I wasn't planning on drinking I didn't make a point of having a snack. Never mind! We had a lovely d... I did my usual disclaimer to myself. You know the one. The number doesn't define me, it's just one measurement, I could be retaining water, etc. But when I stepped on the scale I saw that I am down 900g! That is 2 pounds for my American friends :)

I am beyond thrilled with this result. Wed, 15 Oct 2014 03:14:34 EST Those pesky comments (major vent) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5797807 You all know the ones. You start exercising and eating right and people comment. They are almost always negative.

"Why would you wanna do that?!"
"What, not even a little chocolate?!"
"I would NEVER do that!?" (yep, that's why you're still complaining about being fat...)

Today I ended up telling my workmates about my 10 week challenge. I am famous for my baking at the staff morning teas. Someone gets very excited and starts giving me suggestions every Tuesday.... Tue, 14 Oct 2014 03:29:46 EST Lost 300g and booked my trip! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5796028 192 OK, OK, I know I said I wasn't going to weigh myself. I know I said I was going to only weigh at the gym. I lied. The scales were just looking at me thing morning and I figured I may as well check and see. 300g down so far in my 10 week challenge! A pound is around 450g, just as a point of reference for my American friends. Considering I don't have a lot to lose I am more than happy with that!

535 I booked my trip this morning! 6 weeks away. 2 weeks in t... Fri, 10 Oct 2014 20:38:20 EST Sometimes skipping the gym is OK (pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5795598 I skipped this gym today. I had a really good reason though!

It was a beautiful day here today and I was stuck inside nearly all day doing prep for next term. I couldn't face going inside to do my workout as well! So the husband and I put on our workout clothes and we went for a walk. I took some pictures of the beautiful views.

South Island in the distance

Harbour views in the other direction... Fri, 10 Oct 2014 02:14:04 EST 10 week challenge - Day 6 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5795029 320 I went to the gym TWICE today to make up for yesterday. Weights this morning for around 40 minutes, and then a Bodyattack class for an hour this afternoon. I did full push ups this morning since my wrist isn't bothering me any more. And then the Bodyattack instructor decided that we were going to do eleventy-million push ups in the class... I hurt and had to modify them quite a bit... Nevermind, I got the workout done and I feel great!

198 Tomorrow I don'... Thu, 9 Oct 2014 04:39:43 EST 10 week challenge - Day 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5794424 323 The day of the skipped workout. I woke up a lot through the night so this morning I was tired. I am also really sore from Plyo yesterday. It all added up to an impromptu rest day! I have decided to move my Wednesday workout to Thursday and my Friday workout to Saturday, so I am still doing the same amount of exercise as planned, just on different days. Flexibility, people! It's essential!

551 I ate pretty well today. I found boneless, skinless, marinated ... Wed, 8 Oct 2014 03:49:03 EST We have 2 bunnies back! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5793657 I found the grey bunny! He was hiding in the neighbours yard, then under the house, then in the back garden. I was hoping he would go into the back garde because it is easier to corner him.

He is not a happy wee bunny. He really likes his freedom! Hopefully he will stay put from now on, though. Mon, 6 Oct 2014 21:22:38 EST Happenings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5793546 27 Yesterday we woke up to a huge storm and a power cut. It only lasted a few hours so I went to the gym for my workout and showered there. Then I came home and I had a nap! I must've been tired because I almost never nap.

172 When I woke up I went to feed the bunnies and I discovered that they were gone! A gust of wind had dislodged a part of their floor, the part that hangs out from the cage. Lucky bunnies, they just hopped on outta there! Unlucky owners..... Let's do this thing! Sat, 4 Oct 2014 19:40:27 EST The 10 Week Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5792032 I've been needing a shake up for a while now. I'm feeling...meh. I've put on weight, I'm eating too much junk, and I need to get back on track. So, I'm going to do a 10 week challenge with my friend.

A challenge is totally not my style, but I figure it can't hurt. It isn't crazy or outrageous, and it's basically what I should be doing anyway. The 10 week timeframe was picked because tomorrow is 10 weeks until my birthday.

The challenge is as follows
- Home cooked ... Sat, 4 Oct 2014 01:47:09 EST
