The last 6 months have been very challenging financially and emotionally and I put back on about half of the weight I recently lost.

I'm starting to feel better and I'm looking for a new job, but I'm waiting for "something" before I start the next chapter. I think starting a new job would be a great day to start the new me, the v2, but what if that doesn't happen for awhile?

I am precariously close to going b... Tue, 13 Aug 2013 16:09:15 EST Ideal Protein Week 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252962 I lost 3.4 this week for a total of 28lbs!

I went out for 'drinks' with some friends this week, and I'm very proud I didn't have any wine, but I did have a few french fries with my mussels. And then I got violently ill. I think I have developed a shellfish allergy, which makes me very sad 39

Valentine's day was this week. I didn't buy anything at the store, and if there was candy at work in the staff room, I really think I could have resisted. But someone g... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 20:13:11 EST Ideal Protein Week 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5244623 I lost 5.6lbs this week for a total of 24.6 in 4 weeks! And I'm in the 200s at my clinic!

WARNING - TMI coming up! I had the heaviest period I have ever had in a very long time (15+ years). Apparently estrogen is stored in fat so when you're breaking down the fat, you're also releasing estrogen. I guess this will continue for as long as I'm losing weight - great. I was very emotional this week too - up and down and a few tears.

Thank goodness for my mom, she is my bigges... Sun, 10 Feb 2013 00:52:05 EST What I hate about being fat http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5235031 A lot of sparkers have recommended "Suddenly Skinny" by Freya Taylor. I read it, and I think I will re-read it as I continue my journey. She suggests that we compile a list of things we hate about being fat, and things we will love about being skinny. I have turned my skinny list into goals and milestones - see my main page.

Here is what I hate about being fat, in no particular order
- Feeling like I take up too much space: on the bus, on the sidewalk
- Feeling more comfo... Sat, 2 Feb 2013 22:39:16 EST Ideal Protein Week 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5235001 Finally I have made it to the promised land! The first two and a half weeks were really hard, but now I have more energy and my appetite is less. And I lost 3.4 lbs for a total of 19lbs. 334

The first half of the week was a struggle, and I had a Snickers peanut butter bar and a diet pepsi on Wednesday night. My coach asked me how I felt afterwards - I said 'amazing!'. Probably not what she wanted to hear, but the truth is I savoured it and I'm doing my best to hang on ... Sat, 2 Feb 2013 22:09:45 EST Ideal Protein Week 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5227626 It was another long week, but it was worth it once again! I lost 4.4 lbs and another 2 inches of my belly.

I'm still in the learning phase of this program, and this week I learned that all IP products are not created equal. I bought a box of oatmeal, not realizing it was a 'restricted' product (ie. higher in carbs). My daily snack is the vanilla crispy square, which is also restricted. Oops! A little too many carbs a few days this week. I think having those 2 higher carb products e... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 19:03:14 EST Ideal Protein Week 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5214889 It was a long week, but it was worth it. I lost 11.2 lbs and over 16 inches, including 7 from my belly!

Phase 1 of the Ideal Protein plan is basically 3 ideal protein products per day (I'm starting with 4 since I'm heavier), 4 cups of veggies (some are restricted), 8 oz of lean store-bought protein, lots of water and some supplements. There is a lot of variety with the products and some are better than others. I really believe in the science behind this diet. It absolutely makes se... Sat, 19 Jan 2013 22:32:40 EST Meal Delivery Plans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4504664 I'm struggling to cook for one, and I'm considering ordering a pre-packaged meal plan like Nutri-system or Biggest Loser. I think it could really jump start my weight loss. I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has tried something like that.

Thanks Mon, 26 Sep 2011 11:32:13 EST Setback, but not giving up! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4171983 I'm an accountant, and I'm looking for a new job this summer. So April (tax time) is very hard this year - very busy and very stressful. I have been eating large quantities of chocolate to get me through the day. I caught myself saying that it was ok for April, that I had to do what I had to do to get through it. But then I realized that I could do a lot of damage by letting myself off the hook for a whole month! I lost 25 pounds January - March and I refuse to spend May & possibly June just ... Sun, 17 Apr 2011 14:46:49 EST Time to pick up the pace! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4070426 I started this year off strong, losing weight fairly quickly. However, in the last month I've only lost 2 pounds. I haven't been exercising, and I've been slipping on the no-chocolate rule. While I'm certainly happy I haven't gained, it's time to get things rolling again! Yesterday I took my dog to the park and we ran around a bit, and today I went back to a U-fit class. I couldn't make it through the whole class, but I didn't leave half-way through when I first wanted to either. I want to se... Sun, 6 Mar 2011 12:53:38 EST Jeans are no longer my enemy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4051055 All through high school and most of university, all I wore was jeans. As I put on weight, I had to keep going up in size, until finally I couldn't find them in my size. I was wearing size 28 dress pants, but I couldn't squeeze into size 28 jeans.

I lost 30 pounds last year, and was able to fit into size 26 dress pants and start wearing my size 28 jeans again. It was so nice to actually be able to wear jeans on casual day instead of cords!

So far this year I have lost 21 ... Sun, 27 Feb 2011 09:20:43 EST So much energy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4023091 I used to be such a couch potato, such a bump on the log. If someone was up, I would ask them to get me a drink, rather than get up and get it myself. I used to sit in front of the TV all evening.

Today, I found myself walking to someone's office rather than calling them. And not just strolling, but power walking and enjoying it! I can move so much easier now! I'm doing things in the evening around the house and I have trouble just sitting still.

I have a long way to go,... Wed, 16 Feb 2011 15:59:37 EST Smaller clothes! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3983902 Yesterday I took out a suitcase of smaller clothes that I had saved. Plus sized clothes can be expensive, so I have a selection of items from 28 all the way down to 16! I fit into my size 24 pants, although some of them are still a little snug. The bulk of the clothes were size 22 or 2x, but I got them on and now have something concrete to reach towards.

I'm a professional, and I should be wearing suits or jackets to work, but it was impossible to find them in my size. I have half ... Wed, 2 Feb 2011 12:34:48 EST Starting to see changes already! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3952873 My watch is getting big, my knee is getting better, and my pants are getting looser! It's wonderful and so affirming to see these changes already! Sun, 23 Jan 2011 13:37:08 EST Perception is everything http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3943395 I was looking through a scrapbook I made of the summer of 2001. I was 19, and I moved across the country to Victoria, BC for four months. I had the time of my life, and I was also in the best shape of my life. I biked 125km a week (I had to bike to work - transit didn't go there), ate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and had incredible active adventures like kayaking and hiking.

And I did all of that at 200+ lbs. It was challenging, but I did it. I remember feeling so fat, but... Thu, 20 Jan 2011 09:11:13 EST Week Two progress! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3936172 I lost 2 pounds, and I'm very excited about it! I was up mid-week, which surprised me as I was doing the same things I was doing the week before, but I kicked it up a notch and was back down by weigh-in day. I didn't get to U-FIT last week, but my knee is starting to feel a little better, so I will be there this weekend for sure. I did fit in the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout Video last night, and I think it helped 198

Giving up chocolate has been no problem, but cu... Tue, 18 Jan 2011 07:29:19 EST Week One Success! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3912914 I just finished week one, and I lost 8.3lbs! Success is so motivating!

I cut out chocolate completely, and cut down on diet pepsi. I only ate fast food once, and had the grilled chicken instead of the fried chicken (with cheese and bacon).

My knee has been bothering me, so I didn't get to a U-FIT class, but I started walking my dog again, and I can tell he really enjoys it.

This week I'm going to increase my activity, and depending on my knee, hopefully get ...
