BRETT_DAY1981's SparkPeople Blog BRETT_DAY1981's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Coming back home has been quite some time since I was last on Sparkpeople, and man a whole ton of stuff has happened. 2015 is a year I just want to forget about. I've lost some great friends through stupidity and a great sense of entitlement (which I have fixed after digging deep). In may my family and I lost our home to a tornado, and we have lost family member to illness. The last part of 2015 has seen us move into a new home (built on the same site as the old house), new friends have been mad... Thu, 31 Dec 2015 20:58:06 EST Taking it to the Next Level I’m excited. Actually, that is an understatement. Words cannot describe how happy I am at the moment. The past 15 months have taught me so many things about myself, and about life in general. From health and fitness, to family and how much they mean to me. My life has completely changed for the better, and now I am hoping that I will be able to help others too. While I have been helping people with their health and fitness issues along the way through my journey, I never felt like I was able ... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 09:29:00 EST It's time to catch up. Wed, 18 Jul 2012 12:35:59 EST Week 25 - 73.4lbs lost, But I am Still Learning. Another week has passed, just where does the time go? This year has been zipping by, I cannot believe that we are already into April and that I am starting week 25 of my weight loss journey. So much has changed since the day I decided to change my life (all for the better I might add), and here we are, now just a week away from half a years worth of hard work and finding myself. Finding myself isn’t quote the right term though. I am not finding myself, I am creating myself. Last week was a ha... Tue, 3 Apr 2012 09:57:17 EST New T-Shirts. What's so Special About That?
Woo Hoo! New clothes! I mean who doesn’t like getting new clothes?? There is always a great feeling when you add to your wardrobe. I know that these shirts are nothing special, after all they are just your average T-Shirts, nothing special, nothing fancy, but to me these shirts represent much more than just being something to cover myself up with. They represent a whole new chapter in my weight loss journey.

“... Tue, 17 Jan 2012 19:05:08 EST Week 14 - Starting with a Weigh-In and a Smile

When I started my lifestyle change 14 weeks ago, I knew that it would not be easy and that I would have to dig deeper than I ever had before to find the strength, dedication and will power that would be needed if I were to succeed. I am proud to say that the digging has been worth it and through all the digging I have found the most amazing treasure……myself.Just 14 weeks ago I was quite unhappy with myself. I had ... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 15:53:35 EST Spanner in the works! Wow, this week has flown by! Unfortunately for me this week has not gone as planned in regards to my exercise. Don’t you just hate it when you get a spanner in the works?

Monday was supposed to mark the first day of 5K training, but something came up and I could not get to the track to practice. I got my first walk in on Tuesday which resulted in a painful blister on my foot, and quite honestly walking has been too painful with it so I have been focusing on upper body work. Sometim... Now for the weekend This week has turned out to be a good one. I have stayed the course and stuck to my plan by eating healthy, working out and keeping my positive outlook on life in check. Sat, 7 Jan 2012 01:36:59 EST 5K - First Day of Training

Today was my first day of training for the 5K I plan on running on April 29th. I will admit that I ran very little today, I just want to build up my stamina by walking first.

This is also a new training ground for me so it was nice just to get to know my new surroundings. The walk/slight run went great (although my RSD is kicking in now) 4.3 Miles in 1hour 4 minutes is not too bad for my first long walk.... Wed, 4 Jan 2012 12:46:06 EST Its going to be an awesome year! Hope everyone is doing well on this fine day! I am so excited about what 2012 has in store for me. I know that it is going to be a great year, simply because I am going to make it a good year…..

The past 2 years of my life have been hard. Suffering a crippling injury, which then led to RSD, I thought the life I knew was gone for good, but with the help of friends, doctors and my loving family I am almost back to where I used to be. I know I will never be the same, but I am going to... Mon, 2 Jan 2012 23:39:35 EST You are what you eat Did you know that every 35 days your skin replaces itself, and every 6 weeks your liver regenerates itself. How do these things happen? Your body uses cells from the food that you eat. What you eat, literally becomes you. You have a choice in what your made of. Essentially you are what you eat, so make good choices. 45 267

All the best,
Brett

Wed, 14 Dec 2011 22:46:45 EST New Week - Bright Outlook Tomorrow will be one week since my surgery, and finally I am starting to feel normal again! Sun, 11 Dec 2011 17:38:11 EST Surgery Success Yesterday (december 5th) I underwent surgery to have a Spinal Column Stimulator (SCS) implanted into my back. I suffer with a condition called RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) which is basically permanent/progressive nerve damage. It is a crippling condition that causes intensive, unbearable pain, but the SCS is working like a charm and I am experiencing about a 60% reduction in my pain levels.

On another good note, during my pre-op weigh in yesterday I found out that i have now ... Tue, 6 Dec 2011 22:51:56 EST 6 Weeks - 30lbs - Just Getting Started 6 weeks ago, if some had said to me you can lose 30lbs I would have laughed at them and would have told them that it was impossible, but today, I sit here 30lbs lighter, and more than a quarter of the way to my ultimate weight loss goal, and I could not be happier.

I was stuck in the belief that it was impossible for me to lose weight. I have always been big, and I just accepted that as being me. All i needed was some inspiration, and now that I have re-wired my brain to believe in... Wed, 30 Nov 2011 11:34:57 EST First Fitness Goal Reached Even though I suffer with RSD, I am determined to lose this weight. I challenged myself to work through the pain, and I just achieved my first fitness goal. 11 miles in 30 minutes on my exercise bike. You can do anything you set your mind to, and you can beat what you think is holding you back. Fri, 18 Nov 2011 15:17:21 EST 1 Month in, 25lbs lost! Thanks Sparkers! On October 13th 2011, I decided that I had to change my life once and for all. I have always been heavy, but i reached a new low when i hit the scales at 333.6lbs. I knew then that if I wanted to see my kids grow up i had to do something.

On Oct 13th I went to my dr for a routine check up for my blood pressure. It was high as normal. I am tired of taking meds I thought to myself, and it is only me who can change this.

October 14th I started my lifestyle change. I went c...
