I'm cool with slow and's the best way to do this. It's still cold and miserable in the Midwest, but spring has to come sometime soon. I do really miss walking and jogging outdoors, but for now the gym will do.
Wed, 5 Mar 2014 13:52:56 EST Goals set in motion So after my first "return" blog post. I managed to work out 3 times that week. I started anew today with the food/calorie counter and food plan via the site, and have stuck to the plan. I am great with getting the workouts in, but to be honest; I never had counted calories much or tracked what I was eating. Hopefully this will get me up and running, I have a first little mini goal set for St. Patrick's day. I want to lose 5-8 pounds by that time. AND finish my 5K I've signed up for in under 4... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 17:02:24 EST It's been a year I was on track and happy with my weight. And then this winter hit. I live in the Midwest, and we got record snow this year. It's been difficult to travel, so getting to the gym hasn't really happened.

I gained a lot of weight. It's normal for me to put on a little in the winter months, but this year has been really hard. I need to get on track before the summer months hit, and get back into healthy eating and regular exercise.

The good news is, I can do this. There's s... Wed, 19 Feb 2014 10:31:11 EST Yay! So I weighed in this morning...and I've lost 4 pounds! I know it's a slow and steady process..and I'm so glad that my "hard work" is paying off. 244 Thu, 11 Apr 2013 08:23:30 EST Good stuff Over the weekend the self imposed food challenge went really, really well, and on top of that I tracked my time for the 5K. I'm at 38 I just have a little bit to trim if I want to make my goal of 35 or under. It's good motivation to keep at it at the gym...and to push myself just a little harder on the treadmill.

Hope you all had a great weekend! I'm back on the work train...and sticking with what I was doing for the "food challenge" even though the weekend is over. I ... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 15:46:36 EST Mind set So after being whiney yesterday...and then receiving so many kinds words and motivation from you amazing people here on SP; I'm refocused and much more positive. I've also decided to take an over the weekend healthy food challenge where I have a healthy detox juice for breakfast, a healthy vegetarian lunch; and then give myself a little room for dinner BUT still keeping in mind heathy choices.

My progress with the 5K training is really coming along, and I'm ready to go for a chall... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 09:08:41 EST Kinda frustrated So I've been really hitting the gym...and watching what I eat, but I've seen very little progress thus far. I don't have a scale...but I really feel as if it's not moving. I am contemplating doing some detox stuff (juicing and baths) ; but I think maybe I just need to give it a little time. I DID spend most of the winter being quite sedentary.

Still - It's hard. I'm sick of pictures on social networking that highlight my double chin. Thu, 4 Apr 2013 17:39:32 EST Back at it So I've taken a hiatus from roller derby but stuck with the running, completing 5 5K events last year. I've started training now for a 10K in May, with plans to complete a 5K at some point before that event. I'm also really hitting the gym hard. I went for 4 days in a row, took a day off, but am planning on hitting it again this evening. I want to finally meet my weight goal, I've gotten much healthier and feel great about that....but I'm ready to finally get to that "number" I want to reach.... Thu, 14 Mar 2013 15:23:53 EST Post 5K Well....I got busy and didn't keep up with my countdown. I was able to train up until August 15th or so, but then had a wedding out of town and picked up a second job. I still completed my 5K in right around 42 that's not so bad.

The next race will be a 4 mile event, so I have all ready started training for that event. =)
311 Mon, 27 Aug 2012 15:23:29 EST Day Six Hit the gym and got 2.5 miles done in 30 minutes. Then worked on my legs and arms.

Thinking about dancing tonight for my cardio. Tomorrow is looking like a short run in the morning followed up Derby practice.

Life is good. Sat, 11 Aug 2012 15:47:28 EST Day Four and Five Derby practice was great...kind of a relaxed and strategy based, but this will help ease me back into it.

Day 5:
Woke up early and jogged a mile in the rain. It was refreshing. I may go to the gym later if the weather doesn't clear up, as I have a light work day ahead. Open skate is also an option but I'm not sure if I want to go that route.

364 in 16 days! Thu, 9 Aug 2012 08:21:19 EST Day Two and Three Gym time! 3.15 miles in 42 minutes. My goal for the 5K is 35 or under. I didn't really push myself too hard, and my ipod was giving me really mellow songs which never helps.

Maybe switching from the shuffle and making a new playlist will help.

I may take today off...Day 3. Not sure yet.
Maybe a walk or easy jog may be in order later tonight.

For Day 4, I am going back to roller derby practice. Tue, 7 Aug 2012 14:47:03 EST Count down 20 days to a 5K.

Start date: August 5th. 5K is on August 25th.

Day one: Walked 5 miles. Been out of the exercise loop for 2 weeks. It felt good to get out and get moving. Mon, 6 Aug 2012 11:28:47 EST Week One So far, so good. No fast food this week. I bought groceries, lots of veggies, tofu, whole wheat bread and tortillas, fruit. Went to Derby practice, did yoga, and today I'm off to the gym. No more excuses. I all ready feel better, and next week I think I'm gonna weigh in. I know it's going to be slow and steady but the sooner I get the ball rolling, the better. Sat, 21 Jan 2012 11:24:55 EST It's been a long time Well...Roller derby really did help me get to a place where I was comfortable in my own skin. I'm still much healthier and toned since my initial goals, but this fall I fell off the healthy wagon. I finally graduated college and got a "real" job. I'm a social worker. My organization is fast paced and very stressful. I'm on call 24/7 and often have to drop everything for job at a moments notice. This caused me to miss quite a bit of derby, and prevented me from getting to the gym. I'm still a... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 13:01:38 EST Trimming the fat In addition to adding more healthy physical exercises, I'm attempting to get healthier psychologically as well. Not that I'm not mentally well, but I just really want to get a lot of the negative energy and influences out of my life. I've been doing some journaling and affirmations to put me in a better mind set.
So far I like it. I've also removed some the negative people from my inner social circle.
It feels good....
So does jogging a mile this morning and working with my... Tue, 18 Jan 2011 10:15:07 EST Back at it Well I met all of my new goals this week except for one, I didn't make it to the gym. It's gonna be hard...I worked both of my jobs the day I had scheduled to go to the gym and had to be in much earlier than I expect for my night job.
I'll just make it happen next week. I did get the extra day of skating and 3 miles done! WhooT!
The biggest bout of our season is tomorrow! I'm excited and ready to rumble. Sat, 15 Jan 2011 11:33:57 EST Wow I can't believe how long it's been since I've signed on to SP. I kinda had a bit of "screw everything" breakdown at the end of 2010; but I'm back and better than ever. I've managed to maintain my status in the under 200 club and Derby just keeps getting better and better. I've started training to be a jammer! Even though I'll alway be a blocker at heart, it's great to be able to fill a different role on the track.
Starting next week I'm adding in a day of open skating and a day at the gy... Sat, 8 Jan 2011 12:27:32 EST HOORAY!!! I weighed myself this morning and found that I am finally under 200 pounds! I haven't been in this range since I was 20 years old. I'm so excited and ready to really push myself to get to my goal weight! I set new parameters and have a feeling I can finally get down where I want to be.
I started taking a belly dancing class in addition to my Roller Derby training and I love it. You can really feel it in the core and it's silly and fun. Man! I'm so stoked! I'm looking forward to just work... Sun, 8 Aug 2010 13:05:21 EST Just went I thought it was safe We changed the format of practice again. This is of course, wonderful! I can tell that I'm getting faster on my skates, and that my agility is improving. I'm so thankful that I found Roller Derby.

For over a year now I've been part of an active lifestyle. Sure, I've gotten sick and had to miss a few practices, but I've stayed with it. In the past I would go the gym for a month or so, and then fall out of the habit and not go. It would be a cycle of a few months on, a few mont... Thu, 17 Jun 2010 10:16:46 EST Just don't do it Today marks an important day for me. I'm going to stand up for myself and take some of my time back.
Many of us over schedule, get stuck doing things we don't want to do, all because we feel obligated and can't say "No." Today I'm going to sit down in front of some of the people pushing me to do things I never agreed to in the first place, explain the situation, give them a firm "No." and then walk away.
I'm both nervous and excited. Tue, 8 Jun 2010 10:20:45 EST The time is now This weekend was the last bout of the season. This means less stress, less traveling 500 + miles in two days. I'm focused on some new goals. I bought a really cute summer dress that fits great, but would look even better if I can get my stomach just a little flatter. So, I'm setting a goal to do at least 50 crunches and 15 minutes of Yoga everyday. 414
I'm also going to look into the DVD collection to see if I got one focused on Abs. I'm also looking to get the scale moving ag... Mon, 24 May 2010 11:04:39 EST Spring Time! Maybe it's the sunshine. Maybe it's my girls Cassandra and April who have both lost 30+ pounds. Maybe it's the fact that I've been eating badly and I'm sick of feeling weighed down by poor diet choices.
I'm sure it's a combination of all of these things; but I'm feeling extra motivated. It's a new month, spring has sprung, and I'm ready to lose those final pounds before summer hits. I know I can do this if I stay on top of what I eat and make sure I exercise a little bit every day.
... Fri, 2 Apr 2010 11:24:30 EST Off and on With 14 college credits, lots of Derby stuff, an increase in the workload on the job, and my social schedule; I've been slacking on my Sparkpeople account again.
BUT - Summer is just around the corner and I wanna rock my two piece that I bought last year.
So, it's time to get back on the ball. I'm gonna get that treadmill in the a.m. idea started again and start watching my food choices a little more closely.
I've all ready made it outside to skate, so I'm hoping I get to do th... Sun, 28 Mar 2010 18:15:49 EST Derby Weekend I somehow managed to lose six pounds this weekend. That might have something to do with the fact that my team had two bouts back to back. Saturday and Sunday night I was on my skates for over 8 hours. Plus- I feel like some of the weight got smacked out of me! Lol. I have a brusied rib, but it's all part of the job. I 26 Derby!!
Now to take this loss and keep rolling with it! I'm gonna try to hit the gym on Thursday if I'm not too sore after practice on Wednesday...
Rig... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 19:03:00 EST New Year Really? I haven't yet posted a blog this year?

Well....Roller Derby is still my true love. I haven't lost any more weight, but I'm still dropping sizes. I'm getting into a routine of working out a few extras days on top of my requirements to skate, so I'm hoping that will amp everything up.

I know it's about health, but I really want to lose some more pounds! I've been cutting back on my portions, eating mostly vegetarian...

Dang you scale! Move!!! Tue, 2 Feb 2010 12:48:39 EST Workin' for a living Work and school, school and work...And the stress makes it hard to eat well and stay on track. I did turn down junk food from my co-workers. Go me! Lots of stuff going on today, from here I've got to meet my old roomie and clear some things up; then a photo shoot for the Derby girls. I'm thinking about hitting the gym after that! Whoo! Keep on moving.... Tue, 8 Dec 2009 12:32:33 EST Get back Wow! A lot has been going on since August. Being back in school has really taken up a lot of my time and energy. Roller Derby is still going strong and though I've not been going to the gym as much, I've been sticking with practice.

I haven't gained any weight but I haven't lost any either, so it's back to the basics and working with SP! I can make my goal weight by spring time with hard work and a positive attitude. I've all ready come so far, but that only gives me more motivati... Wed, 25 Nov 2009 12:43:18 EST Long time, no see I haven't been active on here for awhile...I need to get back.
I have however, stayed really busy with Roller Derby and am still slowly but surely losing weight and getting more and more toned up.
So that's a great thing.

I'm going through a lot of changes, but they are seem to be for the better.

I've only got 15 pounds until I reach my first goal. Time to buckle down and get it done. 224 Wed, 12 Aug 2009 12:48:52 EST Here we go... So I've decided to re-work the game plan. I'm doing awesome with the workout aspect of my weight loss goals, but not doing so well on the diet part. I'm taking today to start being serious about what I eat, and what I don't. I'm hoping this will kick start my metabolism and get the scale moving downward again. I'm not going to get too discouraged, I realize that it will take time, and I'm moving in the right direction.
I really am wondering about the conversion of fat to muscle as ... Sun, 14 Jun 2009 12:12:47 EST Miles to go Something happened and I've hit a plateau. Not only that, but I somehow gained a few pounds. I'm trying to get some kind of plan to reverse this, but have been under a ton of stress and have no free time. I'm hoping that this just clears out in the next couple of weeks so I can get back on track, but in all honesty I'm a bit frustrated. 234 Wed, 10 Jun 2009 10:17:46 EST The time is now I've decide that this month I'm really going to push myself. I'm aiming to work out more, and really build up endurance before my Derby squad starts competing next month.
So far this month, the only day I've taken off was yesterday, but I still did sit-ups and light weight in the morning.
I'm hoping the extra push helps my weight loss goals go a little bit further, although I know I'm transferring quite a bit of fat to muscle, I'd still like the scale to move down a bit more. Mon, 4 May 2009 16:58:09 EST Beyond the Plateau I now weigh less than I did in the summertime when I was in full swing of working out and eating right. I feel so great from the steady exercise and because we do so many different drills and cross training, there doesn't seem to as much of the "hitting a wall" at a specific weight.
I'm honestly thinking I will be ready to hit the beach in July in a cute little swim suit.
244
These were my goals, but I hadn't felt that they were attainable. Until now.... Fri, 17 Apr 2009 16:46:32 EST Almost the weekend This week has been rough. One of the Derby girls got seriously injured. Ella broke her leg and will be off skates for most of the summer...such a bummer. She's the reason I joined. =(
I hope she has a speedy recovery.

I've been in a gnarly mood, probably due to lack of exercise. Skate practice was canceled this week due to Spring Break and Easter. I went for a walk today, but I wanna get on my skates!!

I've got lots going on this weekend, so that's good news! And ... Thu, 9 Apr 2009 16:12:16 EST Routine Skate practice got moved from Monday to Sunday this month. This may not seem like a huge change, but it really is. I really missed not going last night.
The good news is, now I have time to fit in my own cardio, yoga, aerobics, or whatever else I want to incorporate in between the skate sessions.
So I'm gonna amp it up and push myself a little farther. WHOO!

Tue, 7 Apr 2009 10:29:00 EST Skating Away So it's been a month since I joined the Roller Derby squad. I love it! My teammates are amazing, I love the sport, I love being on skates.
I still have so much I can learn, so many skills to acquire and master...
It's perfect.

I've lost 10 pounds, but more than that...I'm getting super toned.
I can only imagine how far I can go with my goals and where I want to be considering it's only a month!
Sun, 29 Mar 2009 10:48:54 EST Rollergirl Derby Practice starts tomorrow! I can't wait....
I've been doing so well with the cardio and keeping it in range with the calorie counter. I'm having trouble staying in range with the fat grams, but I'll work on it.

Whoo! I'm all sorts of fired up.

I can't wait until the end of the month to see how I measure up.
8 Wed, 4 Mar 2009 18:36:55 EST Week 3 Even after being sick, I only took a day off and will make it to my fitness goals!

Next week I'm starting Roller Derby, so I'm excited to have the extra activity and hopefull and kick into high gear and take some serious weight off next month!

Thu, 26 Feb 2009 15:06:56 EST Dedication Means getting up at 8:30 so you have time to workout before a full day of work.

I wouldn't have it any other way. 224 Fri, 20 Feb 2009 10:46:39 EST Being responsible I feel like little Ms. Productive today. I got all caught up on my homework for school, got all of the financial stuff in order.
Then I got a killer workout on the treadmill.
I really wanna join the Roller Derby club. It's being sponsored through college, so it's way cheaper than it was before...the only problem is the equipment is really expensive.
It'd be awesome excercise, though.
I'm gonna mull it over. Wed, 18 Feb 2009 17:05:05 EST Week Two Getting in the swing of the steady workouts.

Still haven't been as good about logging in as I should be, but that will come with time.

And the dang internet was down yesterday, so I can use that excuse.

It's Valentine's Day.
26
It's easy to avoid all the sweets and junk when you're too busy to think about that crap. Work can be a great distraction.
Sat, 14 Feb 2009 11:33:22 EST Keeping it up... I'm on my way.
2o minutes on the bike yesterday, a half an hour walking on the treadmill today.
Plugging in all of my calories on the tracker....
SP, I'm back.
Now I just gotta keep it this way.
Maybe I will be able to wear a two piece bathing suit on my birthday.
Hoo boy! Now, I'm dreamin' big.
204 Tue, 3 Feb 2009 17:50:54 EST Starting all over again is gonna be rough. So, since Thanksgiving, I totally fell off the wagon. I stopped working out, I stopped watching what I eat, and now that the depth of winter has hit, I gained back everything I lost. 39
I'm really upset, but attempting to use this as motivation to come back full tilt.
I'm really watching what I eat, and starting today...I will be back to regularly using SP.
I've also decided on hitting the gym at least 5 times a week to start me out and get me back. I doubt I can stil... Sat, 31 Jan 2009 11:11:14 EST Back on Track So, I haven't been active on SP for at least 2 weeks, if not longer. I got super caught up and busy with school and work, adjusting to the move, and just got lazy. I luckily didn't gain anything back, but I stopped the progression of losing weight. So - I'm back.
For the first couple weeks back on track, I'm going to attempt to work out 5 or 6 days instead of 3 or 4. I will do less intensive stuff though to get myself back into the swing of it.
Temporary distactions are over. Tim... Mon, 17 Nov 2008 11:08:44 EST My first 5K So, I walked my first of what I hope to be many local events. I did the Brookise Way 5K with my friend, Kyle. We both just walked and enjoyed each others company and the Oakland University campus. We finished in 50 minutes, so my goal for the next 5K is to complete in half that. That means lots of training to be able to run/jog at a good pace. Since it's getting late in the year, I probably won't do another 5K until spring, which gives me plenty of time to work on buliding speed and stami... Tue, 14 Oct 2008 14:53:59 EST I weeble and wobble, but I won't fall down. So, I've realized that some ups and downs are just a part of this whole journey. Ms. Meredith is totally right in all of her comments to my post earlier and I'm not gonna let it upset me too much. It's only been a few months and I'm allready feeing so much better, I can actually run now, and my body is changing.
It's a slow process, because I'm doing it the right way.
I just gotta remember that.
I know that it will all pay off I just have to be patient.
So I'm looking fa... Tue, 23 Sep 2008 19:25:54 EST Ugh. So, today I decided to buy a scale since I will be moving soon.
I was NOT happy with the outcome. I guess the one I've been using is a bit off...
I am so upset, angry, etc.
How is it possible that all of my clothes are fitting better, and I'm visibly smaller, but the scale hasn't moved.
Can it be bloat or water retention?
The other thing that may be hindering me, I usually weigh myself after I "unload" on the potty.
It's been a few days.

I think I sh... Tue, 16 Sep 2008 14:52:01 EST It's a great start So I've made a few mini goals happen. I hit my first 1o pounds lost, which is awesome. I've also moved from needing an XL belt, to a L. A minor change, but a big step in the right direction. My pants that were too tight are now totally wearable, and my 'normal' jeans are now baggy.
I bought a Medium size shirt that I can actually wear, which is pretty major even though there is so much flux in women's sizing.
I've still got so much more to go, and bigger goals, like dropping a who... Sun, 31 Aug 2008 11:39:59 EST Vacation So I'm off to a good start on my vacation. It's been really easy to keep my food intake in check, and my living quarters for the next 10 days just happens to be right in front of a park. I did yoga and had a nice walk yesterday, so I'm all set to make it a part of my stay.
Food wise, my friends are pretty healthy, so that really helps.
The only downfall is, I will be drinking a lot more than I normally do, so I'm trying to really keep track of those calories... 297
... Tue, 19 Aug 2008 11:20:48 EST Ups and downs After doing extremely well with my food intake, a few set backs can really put me in a funk. Why is it that one day of letting calories slide send me into a "good lord I feel gross" coma the next day. I honestly felt soo sick after pizza and cake for my (almost) mother in laws birthday.
Ewww.
Well, I gonna try to off set it with really healthy food the rest of week, and a nice long walk starting as soon as I log out. Thu, 24 Jul 2008 17:06:58 EST
