BRANDI1809's SparkPeople Blog BRANDI1809's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community January 17th I'm set up for another 10 weeks having had my B12 injection this morning.
FiL's appointment went well and on time. On the way home I got the feeling that he wanted to talk so instead of just dropping him off, I stayed and had a drink with him for an hour or so.
I'm off to get ready to go to the meeting in Birmingham tonight, it's bitterly cold out so I'm going to have to wrap up warm. Wed, 17 Jan 2018 11:08:43 EST January 16th Unfortunately Petes' Mum wasn't very good today so we only stayed an hour because she was very tired and confused. We had been told that the Care Home would be going in today to assess her but the nurses hadn't seen anyone. Probably a good thing seeing the way she was.
Pete & I are going into Birmingham to the main Police HQ for a meeting tomorrow evening. Luckily these meetings are only twice a year. It's going to be a busy day with a visit to the Docs for my B12 Injection first thing t... Tue, 16 Jan 2018 16:31:21 EST January 15th Pete & I are feeling so much better now things seem to be moving in the right direction for his Mum. Hopefully the Care Home people will be arranging to assess her very soon. Even my FiL seems to have become resigned to the fact that with the 24hr care she will require from now on, he would not be able, even with a full care package from Social Services, to ever have her back home. Unfortunately that's the situation and it won't ever get better.
Life can be cruel sometimes and we just ha... Mon, 15 Jan 2018 08:56:10 EST January 14th We've felt much better about everything today, MiL was a bit better & my FiL seems a bit happier about the Care Home and the situation as a whole. So tomorrow morning the Coordinator will pot the wheels into motion.
We had a brilliant evening with great friends and fantastic food yesterday to give Pete belated birthday celebrations.

<img src=" Sun, 14 Jan 2018 16:28:57 EST January 13th Had a successful day so far, sold FILs car this morning, meeting with the coordinator and subsequent visit to a Residential Home went brilliantly and if their assessment of my MIL goes okay, she could be out of the hospital this coming week!
Just off to get ready for our meal out tonight with friends (no hospital visiting for us. Yay!) Sat, 13 Jan 2018 11:33:38 EST January 12th Pleased with a one pound loss on the scales last night considering the week we've had.
Petes' Mum was bad again yesterday afternoon and so we only stayed 45 minutes. I'm hoping she's a lot better today. We have the meeting and possible Care Home visits tomorrow, plus selling FILs' car first thing in the morning. So again it's going to be a busy emotional weekend.
At least we have no visiting on Saturday as Petes' brother will take his Dad. We're going out for a meal with friends to... Fri, 12 Jan 2018 11:08:31 EST January 11th Wow, it's Thursday already, can't believe where the time has gone.
We're having a meeting on Saturday with the co-ordinator who's helping us look for somewhere for Pat. She really needs to be in a room of her own. The Nurses and staff have been fantastic but she's in a ward with five other ladies who unfortunately have much more severe dementia than MIL.
Not really bothered about weigh in tonight, we've been eating at strange times (I know it doesn't matter it's what you eat not whe... Thu, 11 Jan 2018 09:40:01 EST January 10th It's Petes' birthday today and bless him, we'll be spending it visiting his Mum in hospital as is our usual daily event. Being that his brother lives a long way away and his Dad has been told he cannot drive a normal car because of his diabetes, it falls to us to play taxis. Unfortunately tonight she was back on IV antibiotics & glucose drips. It seems two steps forward and three back. Wed, 10 Jan 2018 15:41:53 EST January 9th It's a mizzerly, drizzley day so I'm not looking forward to going out into it for hospital visiting this afternoon. Then after dropping my FIL at home I've got to then drop my hubby home so I can get to a Neighbourhood Watch meeting.
198 Tue, 9 Jan 2018 10:10:29 EST January 8th MIL was a bit better today and things are beginning to happen on the Care Home front and we hope to have a few to visit at the weekend.
Meanwhile I've not been able to eat until tonight after having extra strong novocaine this morning so I could have the preparation to have my back tooth re crowned. I did so enjoy my SW Campfire Stew and mashed potato once we got back from visiting. Mon, 8 Jan 2018 16:44:21 EST January 7th Can't believe the weekend is almost over, but we've still managed to do so much today. We've changed the bedclothes & washed the old ones plus two loads of clothes washing including MILs clothes from the hospital. We did the usual hospital visit although it wasn't very nice as MIL was not in the best of moods which upset Pete and my FIL. It was also quite sad because we've brought his car back to our house ready to sell next Saturday. Unfortunately he is having to stop driving a normal car be... Sun, 7 Jan 2018 16:56:42 EST January 6th Visiting MIL last night was not too good. She was rambling a lot more and I had to spoonfeed her her meal although she wouldn't eat much at all. Today she was still very confused.
I had a lousy night with very little sleep. I got a wheeze in my throat but just couldn't clear it. I tried a lozenge, cough medicine, olbas oil, but nothing could get rid. I didn't want to disturb Pete too much so I ended up sitting in my armchair dozing occasionally. Can't wait to get to bed tonight although ... Sat, 6 Jan 2018 13:53:20 EST January 5th The scales showed that I'd put on one pound last night, so with the 1 1/2 lb loss last week means that over the festive season I've actually had an overall loss of half a pound.. Considering all that's been going on I'm quite pleased with that.
Things went better than expected with MIL, when asked where she wanted to go after hospital. as we thought, she said she wanted to go home. But after we said that she would still need 24 hour care and my FIL, bless him said that he wouldn't be abl... Fri, 5 Jan 2018 16:25:16 EST January 4th It's going to be a bit of a tough day, we've got a meeting with the Co-ordinator about what happens next with MIL. If the infection tests come back clear she will be discharged! Obviously she wants to go home but the care package won't be enough and my FIL is not fit enough to cope with her on his own. However if MIL insists on going home we may have to have her declared mentally incapable which of course is not an easy thing to do. At least we have the Power of Attourney in place.
Afte... Thu, 4 Jan 2018 09:04:00 EST January 3rd MIL was a lot brighter today although the downside is that she says she's coming home tomorrow which is an impossibility. At least she had a couple of spoonful's of soup and then a couple of spoons of ice-cream which is more than she's had for days.. Wed, 3 Jan 2018 16:53:21 EST January 2nd It was Petes' first day back at work today after the holidays so instead of visiting his Mum in the afternoon it's now going to have to be straight from work. He came home and picked me up, then we went to pick his Dad up.
His Mum was pretty bad tonight, she's not eating and doesn't have a clue what time of day it is. It's all very sad to see. We even discussed with his Dad the fact that she probably won't be going home because she is now going to need care 24 hours a day. Tue, 2 Jan 2018 16:51:52 EST January 1st We had a lovely time last night with our neighbours. They arrived at 7pm bringing with them a smoked Salmon Terrine for our starters. Then we presented our choices of a 4 Bird Roast or a Cheesey Topped Sausage and Mash Pie with Vegetables for the main course. Michele had made a Chocolate Spounge Roll Slimming World Recipe with lemon ice cream. Our only things that weren't Slimming World friendly were the cheese & biscuits which followed, but it was NYE!

We had all dressed up for th... Mon, 1 Jan 2018 14:01:42 EST December 31st It's the end of another year, can't believe in a couple of hours it'll be over. We've had great times and we've had some not so great times and we just have to hope and pray that in 2018, the good outweigh the bad.
We've had the day off 'hospital visiting' today with my BIL taking over and we've got all the cooking for this evening under control. What is even better and has really made my year, I'm managed to get tickets to see 'War Horse' when it comes to the theatre in Birmingham in Oc... Sun, 31 Dec 2017 11:44:40 EST December 30th Another busy day, weekly shopping early this morning, ironing, then off to the hospital to visit MIL Her breathing was a little better today although she was still only lucid for short periods. My BIL has come down from his home in the North East today so it was a nice surprise for her. He is staying over with his Dad tonight & will take him visiting tomorrow before driving home again in the late afternoon. I'll be interested to hear what he thinks about his Dad because we think that things a... Sat, 30 Dec 2017 17:19:33 EST December 29th At least something is going well for us, last night the scales showed Pete had lost one pound and I'd lost one and a half pounds. Yay! This was quite a surprise as there was only three of us in our group who had lost weight over Christmas so we felt quite proud of ourselves.
On the MIL front, when Pete rang the hospital this morning he was told that his Mum's chest infection was pneumonia but that she seemed to be responding to the treatment. When we got there she was at least awake and ... Fri, 29 Dec 2017 16:44:35 EST December 28th Going Hospital visiting this afternoon to see my MIL, apparently she has been moved to another Ward and they think she now has a chest infection. It's going to be a long haul with an uncertain outcome.
Looking forward to weigh-in this evening, hopefully the damage won't be too bad.. Thu, 28 Dec 2017 08:24:52 EST December 27th It was all going too was pouring with rain, 6.30 at night and we'd settled down to watch TV. We got half way through a programme when my FIL rang, his Mum had fallen again and the Ambulance was on its way! We arrived just after the Ambulance and they decided MIL needed to go to hospital and this time, she didn't disagree. Eventually they got her into the vehicle, got FIL in as well and set off. We went home to let various members of the family then went to the hospital to wait w... Wed, 27 Dec 2017 16:10:23 EST December 26th We're having a very lazy Boxing Day in fact at this moment Pete is fast asleep whilst we are supposedly watching one of the Christmas Day programmes from yesterday. Bless him. Hopefully he'll be awake later when we Skype with his Aunt & Uncle in Canada. It's great to be able to catch up with people even though they are far away. Tue, 26 Dec 2017 09:49:42 EST December 25th Well we've got through it! The Christmas meal went brilliantly and everyone enjoyed it. FIL wa amazed that MIL ate so much so that was a good thing.
We were back home by 5pm and straight into our pjs to relax. It seems amazing that a few years ago we'd have had a 3 course Christmas lunch and then in the evening the table would be full again with cold turkey, ham, bread rolls, pickles, crisps (chips to our American friends) cheese, biscuits, cakes, trifle, mince pies & Christmas cake. No ... Mon, 25 Dec 2017 16:40:40 EST December 24th Christmas Eve is always a day for remembering my wonderful Dad and especially this year. Today would have been his 100th Birthday and even though he's been gone over 20 years we still love and miss him. Happy 100th Birthday Dad.

<img src=" Sun, 24 Dec 2017 09:40:50 EST December 23rd Well we're nearly there, it's the Eve of Christmas Eve and thankfully the Meat and Vegetable delivery we were waiting for finally arrived at 20.30 last night. Phew! Boy were we relieved and with our shopping trip this morning, we have everything we need for Christmas Day. So the plan for the 25th is that we'll cook the turkey crown, prep the vegetables at home then take it all over to finish it off at Petes' Mum & Dads', including the Christmas table cloth. It's not going to be an easy day bu... Sat, 23 Dec 2017 15:52:01 EST December 22nd I'm sitting here typing this whilst on the phone listening to a recorded message stating that the current wait time is in excess of 5 minutes..... I've been holding for 30 minutes so far. The reason for this is that we ordered a huge Christmas meat pack to be delivered today and although the message that came through yesterday saying that it would be delivered between 6 am and 10pm today, but you can also track your order on line. The only problem is when we put the reference number in, the s... Fri, 22 Dec 2017 11:53:22 EST December 21st Thankfully my neck is tons better today and I've even been able to do some ironing! Hope I don't suffer for it later.
Weigh In tonight might be a bit of a disaster as I've had two meals out, Friday & Sunday and have missed a meal on a couple of days. So I have no idea what the scales will show. Fingers crossed. Thu, 21 Dec 2017 09:45:32 EST December 20th My neck is feeling a bit better today, My friend (& neighbour) came round again last night and again this morning to give me massages and she'll be back again later on this evening. Unfortunately this has come at a bad time because I had a phone call this morning from my FIL, his car has packed up and he needed a lift to get to the bank. Without thinking, I said yes of course, then after I put the phone down I suddenly thought "no I can't". It would have been too dangerous because I can't mo... Wed, 20 Dec 2017 12:27:15 EST December 19th Woke up this morning in agony. For a couple of weeks I've had a stiff neck on and off, it got worse last night but this morning.... WOW, it was excruciating. Luckily our next door neighbour and good friend, is training to do massage so she's been over twice to try to ease it a bit. She's coming back tomorrow as well. Wish I'd spoken to her sooner it's made it a lot more bearable. Tue, 19 Dec 2017 17:07:33 EST December 18th Went over to the 'Out-Laws' this morning to meet up with someone from Social Services and we think we have had a result. She is going to arrange for my MIL to go to a Day Care Centre one day a week to give my FIL a break, she flatly refused to go any where for a week to give John a full respite from caring for her, her answer was "No! if you go there you never get out!!!
We've also got her to agree to someone coming in twice a week to help her shower.
They are little steps but it's ... Mon, 18 Dec 2017 12:51:09 EST December 17th We've had a lovely day today, we drove up to North Wales to pick up my Mum and, after Pete mended her Christmas tree and her phone, took her over to meet up with the rest of our immediate family for a family meal at a restaurant we've been going to every Christmas for the last 5 years.
Unfortunately this year it has been taken over by new people and although the staff are still the same, the quality of the food was not particularly up to scratch. Still we had a wonderful time together an... Sun, 17 Dec 2017 15:45:52 EST December 16th Had a great time last night, the food was basic but good, the entertainment was a brilliant Elvis tribute.

Spent today getting the last of the presents wrapped to take up to our family Christmas 'get-together' tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to. Keeping my fingers crossed the... Sat, 16 Dec 2017 15:53:09 EST December 15h One pound lost this week, I was hoping for more especially because Pete lost 3 1/2 ! Oh I know men lose weight quicker than women but really!!!!!
It's Petes' works 'do' tonight, don't know anyone but as long as we have fun, it doesn't matter. Fri, 15 Dec 2017 09:56:13 EST December 14th Had a good trip to the dentist this morning and considering, for my sins. I've not been for about 3 years, apart from the loss of my crown, the dentist said that I had no decay at all which I was pleased about. The crown however will take a bit of work and several visits to sort out which of course is going to cost a bit!!! She has said however, that the bone in my jaw is receding so it would help to retain the teeth I have if I regularly visit the Dental Hygienist. So that is for the New Yea... Thu, 14 Dec 2017 09:28:41 EST December 13th The rain has washed most of the snow away and I managed to get to the hairdressers for my Christmas colour. I'll get some photos taken on Friday when we go to Pete's works Christmas 'do' so you can see the plum highlights.
Got a dental appointment tomorrow, first one in a long time since our last dentist closed down. Wish me luck.. Wed, 13 Dec 2017 15:58:32 EST December 12th You can tell the boys are not used to being in the bungalow so much, they keep trying to help me write the Christmas cards in between demolishing the blinds. Hope this snow goes away soon!

... Tue, 12 Dec 2017 13:00:18 EST December 11th I'm so glad we only get weather like this occasionally because I'd end up being housebound! Pete has been off work because his office was closed (looks like it'll be back open tomorrow) and has spent a lot of the day clearing snow from the drive. I've moved my Doctors appointment to one in the New Year and probably won't go tho the Neighbourhood Watch meeting tomorrow night either although there is talk of it being cancelled anyway.
One of our cats had the best idea today, never seen hi... Mon, 11 Dec 2017 12:29:26 EST December 10th It's been snowing non-stop since about 1.30am and Pete went out at 2 o'clock this afternoon and measured 6 inches of snow on the wall outside our back door. Pete has already received a message from his boss saying that the office will be closed tomorrow. How come here in the UK everything grinds to a halt every time we get a little snow?????

<img src=" Sun, 10 Dec 2017 10:32:39 EST December 9th Busy day today, shopping, mainly food although I also went to try to find something to wear at Christmas. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything.
Went over to Pete's Mum & Dads' as his brither & SIL came down for the day (should have been tomorrow but brought forward because of the bad weather) to exchange cards & presents.
Just having a relax before getting ready to go out for a meal with our good friends this evening and hopefully it won't start snowing again. Sat, 9 Dec 2017 12:42:20 EST December 8th Woke to snow this morning, hopefully this is all we'll have as we're going out with friends tomorrow night and Pete's Brother & SIL are coming down to see his folks on Sunday.

Morgan & Rossi are confused but still want to go out.

<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople... Fri, 8 Dec 2017 06:49:52 EST December 7th Managed 2 miles in the pool today but it had no effect on the scales as they showed a 3 1/2lb gain!!! I have absolutely no idea where that came from as we've been so 'On Plan' for the last two weeks with no deviation at all. Bummer!
Got to keep on Keeping On. I will not let this get me down. Thu, 7 Dec 2017 17:20:46 EST December 6th I was so annoyed today after a phone call to the Leisure Centre. You may remember last Thursday, just as I was about to get in the car, a message came through to say that the pool had been closed until further notice. As I'd not had a further message I decided to phone up to find out when it would be open again. I was then told that it had reopened the same day!!!!! I was not a happy bunny. Wed, 6 Dec 2017 12:34:03 EST December 5th Nothing much to report today, I've done the ironing and some extra washing but that's about all. Tue, 5 Dec 2017 16:54:07 EST December 4th Been thinking happy thoughts today because I've realised that 5 months to todays date, we'll be flying out to Florida for our main holiday. Woohoo! Mon, 4 Dec 2017 16:30:59 EST December 3rd

Rudolf has arrived. As yet our next door neighbours are very dark, not having put any lights up yet! Tee Hee! Sun, 3 Dec 2017 14:09:04 EST December 2nd Had a good day today, did all the food shopping this morning then put coloured Heathers and Pansies in the two planters Pete has made.
This afternoon we got the Christmas decorations out from the loft and started decorating inside the bungalow. The outside lights will hopefully go up tomorrow if the weather is ok.

We also cooked Sweet & Sour Pork for the freezer and made Sweet an... Sat, 2 Dec 2017 16:20:06 EST December 1st The scales showed half a pound loss last night so I'm quite happy because after the weekend it could have been worse. There's nothing to trip me up next week so I'm hoping for a better result next Thursday.

This was a conversation in our house this morning I thought I'd share with you.
Me: How is it possible that I've just weighed myself this morning and it's more than it was last night?
Pete: Well you must have slept heavily!!!!
😨
Not bad for 5.45am! Fri, 1 Dec 2017 10:24:41 EST November 30th Couldn't believe it this morning, I was getting my things together ready to set off for the pool when I received a text message telling me that the pool has been closed until further notice! Good job I'd not already set off.
Trouble is that it's not going to help me on the scales tonight! Thu, 30 Nov 2017 11:31:11 EST November 29th Managed 2 miles in the pool today & hopefully I'll do a couple tomorrow as well. I'm really having to make myself go out when it's cold. Hey ho. Wed, 29 Nov 2017 16:33:30 EST
