Breathe deeply. Stretch your body. Give thanks to all of the many blessings you have in your life (once you start counting them, you’ll find many!). Make it a habit to connect to stillness on a daily basis, and with practice stillness will connect to you… Wherever you are.

#stayquiet #bepresent #meditate

Today was one of those days that made me thankful to be a musician. Actually, the whole ... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 00:46:10 EST Mistakes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5266639 The theme of the day is learning from mistakes, so I'm going to write about a mistake I made yesterday: drinking soda.

I moved into a new apartment, and we ordered food for delivery, and it just sounded delicious to have a coke. Unfortunately, I didn't compensate by drinking extra water until later, so I just felt kind of thirsty and like my teeth were extra sensitive. The caffeine kept me up late, and I ended up having one of the worst nights of sleep ever. No soda today! No ... Wed, 27 Feb 2013 23:11:57 EST I did it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5264044 I had a great day as far as diet/exercise goes! Well, actually as far as the rest of life goes too. I got up, had a healthy breakfast, went to work, had a little grocery store run/light snack, and went to the gym for a workout with a trainer.
After the gym I used some of the stuff I bought at the grocery store to make my first-ever smoothie! I don't know why, but I've never actually made my own, and it was delicious. 1 cup ice, 2 cups spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup almond milk, and 2 Tbsp al... Mon, 25 Feb 2013 22:27:43 EST Weight Loss Stress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5260885 I just read this article: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/wellne
ss_articles.asp?id=473

I think I am letting myself get stressed out by weight loss. I worry a ton about whether or not I get the right amount of calories per day, and when I slip up I tend to get mad at myself, so I end up eating or drinking more than I was before, and then when I get home I end up just watching TV and sleeping on the couch, so in the morning I'm mad at myself again for all that. Each day I wa... Sat, 23 Feb 2013 10:05:02 EST Oh man. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5248379 Today I felt like I ate a whole bunch: breakfast, snack after first shift, lunch, quick snack before work, one during, and a little dinner after, and I logged everything in my tracker, and I am still at the lower end of my calorie range! I ate very healthy today too, so I feel great. Now I'm going to have a relaxing cup of tea, fold some laundry, and go to bed. Goodnight, all! Tue, 12 Feb 2013 22:31:42 EST Proud http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5247897 Last night I went out with my friends to a place called Zombie Burger and Drink Lab. Normally when I eat there I try one of their many burgers, split a fry basket and/or appetizer with my companions, and I often get a drink with my meal (oh, they have so many good beers there).

Yesterday, however, I was good! I ate well all day, tried an ab workout I found on a friend's blog, and did Zumba, and usually I'd "reward" myself with eating whatever later on and adding in a ton of extra ... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 14:34:59 EST Valentine's Week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5246579 All right, I'm starting this week off well. I had breakfast, a light snack, and lunch and all were pretty healthy. I just got back from having a physical (Happy Valentine's Day to me!! lol).

Since it's Monday, I decided to start a Goal of the Week thing. I'm going to focus especially hard on one good habit to add to my week and one bad habit to phase out.

Positive habit to add: Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water EVERY DAY!! I can totally do this. Yesterd... Mon, 11 Feb 2013 15:09:30 EST Reasons for Weight Loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5244874 I love swimming, and I want to feel great in a swimsuit this summer.
I want my body to be strong!
I want to be able to play anything with the kids at work (daycare) and not get winded after a little bit of running around.
Sun, 10 Feb 2013 09:40:38 EST The Weekend Approaches... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5242974 and I'm going to be good! I am going to eat well and go to the gym both days. It'll be great. Tonight I'm playing at Sam and Gabe's, but I'll ask for my food to take home at the end of the night instead of eating there. I will drink water. I will check out Paige's gig at the Cosmo, but I will keep drinking water, and since they finish at 11 I'll get plenty of sleep tonight. No need to get up at 5 am tomorrow, so I can get eight hours and then get to the gym. I'll do the treadmill, squat... Fri, 8 Feb 2013 14:27:30 EST Beyond the Scale http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5229794 There are a bunch of ways that I've seen improvement outside the scale (which is good because the scale has been frustrating...). I've learned the steps in Zumba pretty well, so I feel like I can really dance full out when I go to class. I don't really crave sugary drinks as much. I feel better when I get up early in the morning and have a good breakfast, and I've loved my morning routine. I started joining in the dancing when I've gone to hear friends play in the salsa band lately, so I'v... Wed, 30 Jan 2013 07:26:20 EST Meh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5227896 In general, I was pretty healthy today, so I need to focus on that, right? I ate a well-rounded breakfast, took my gym clothes to my first shift so I could go straight away, got in a quick walk/run on the treadmill, did laundry, ate a healthy vegetarian lunch and drank tea, and had a rehearsal before my second shift at work.

But I was a bit bad when I met with the trio. Instead of meeting at the coffee shop (where I had the veggie lunch and cup of tea), the boys started out at t... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 22:12:49 EST Monday Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5227060 Hello! It's a new week, and I'm starting this one pretty well too. I got up on time, had a healthy breakfast, went to kids west, and I went straight to the gym after. I finally started the 5K Rookie Running Challenge, and that felt good. I'm just finishing a snack, and I had some cheez-its and a pear. I think I'll have a cup of tea as well. Max, Ben, and I are having lunch at Java Joe's, so maybe I'll check their menu online before I go so I can make sure I order something healthy. Feeli... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 12:06:05 EST Avoiding Cravings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5223279 I know that it's a small accomplishment, but I just ignored a very strong McDonald's craving as I drove home. I had just eaten a healthy lunch, and I was pretty full, but after my vegan sandwich a burger sounded amazing. I could imagine eating it, and there was a McDonald's on my way home. Instead of stopping the way I was tempted to do, I called Mom and talked to her as I drove by so that I would have some help avoiding the craving. Hooray for small victories! Fri, 25 Jan 2013 15:35:42 EST Meal Ideas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5218133 Here are just a few things that I can make quickly and easily:

1. Sandwiches. :)
2. Tuna Salad. Or Tuna Noodle. Haven't had that in ages, but it's pretty good with whole wheat pasta and I could add more veggies to make it even healthier.
3. Um...boiled eggs. Any type of breakfast food actually. Boiled is my favorite way to eat egg whites, so that works for me.
4. Cereal.
5. Oatmeal.
6. Not as quick, but if I prepare the ingredients the night before, I ca... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 07:37:34 EST Feelin' Good, Feelin' Great http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5207476 And that Outkast song is stuck in my head. You know why? Today I was awesome! I haven't gone over my calories, I got more than 10000 steps on Fitbit, I did Zumba, and I did the Day 2 video of the Jump Start Fitness Challenge. Bought a new cookbook, and I think it'll be fun to try new recipes. I can do this. This is my year. Ok, I know I'm sounding cheesy, but I'm extremely optimistic right now. Kaytlyn joined Gold's Gym, and we've already got a couple classes planned for tomorrow (hooray, ... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 21:50:04 EST Off to a Good Start http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5204932 All right! I finished the first week of the January Challenge! I got off a little bit on the videos, but today I did Day 7 and Day 1, so I'm back on track for the start of the week. I feel great. My breakfast was healthy too, and I think I'll just bring a granola bar to work so I have a little something to eat and don't have an excuse to buy mall food. Now there's just enough time to get in the shower and get to work on time. I'm going to do well this week! Sun, 13 Jan 2013 11:42:41 EST Possible Reward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5199049 I have trouble staying motivated - not just in weight loss, but whenever I set goals. However, today I realized that one goal I set earlier this year has actually worked. I started saving money and aggressively paying off my student loans. I participate in the START program at USBank, so I put in a certain amount, and the original goal was to save $1000. Once I reached that amount, the next part of the goal was to keep at least $1000 in my savings account for one year. This plan changed ... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 15:44:43 EST Mid-week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5198624 I work at a school, and while I also work playing gigs on weekends, I can't help feeling that Wednesdays drag on more than the other days. I'm trying to be healthy this week, and I always do well at breakfast, but it's after I come home from my first shift (7-9 am) that I want to snack and either read or watch TV. I haven't watched too much TV this week, but even while reading I overeat. Maybe I should just go put a load of laundry in so I can go to the gym later, and while I wait I can do m...
