I love love my job. I adore it. And eating healthy and working out has just become routine again which I am very happy for. There is a very sweet girl from New Mexico that was in my orientation. The other day while computer training with her she sighed and complained about having gained 50 lbs since her having her baby a year ago (she looks to weigh about 150). She said that she had cried about that morn... Sun, 10 Feb 2013 19:58:04 EST A grandmother's loving wisdom
Grandmother Says... Carrots, Eggs, or Coffee; "Which are you?"

A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs ... Thu, 24 Jan 2013 00:31:34 EST Sick of being sick this week has been crazy Well, I have been doing a series of interviews since Tuesday. Greg's mom went into the hospital with the virus that's been going around and had to stay due to pneumonia. Greg's sister had it originally and is still sick and Greg and his mom got it after her. He's almost better- it's day nine for him. I am on Day 5. I came down with it the night after my first interview. My second interview 2 days later-- I was surprised to find there were 20 people already waiting in line ahead of me an... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 17:18:54 EST inner stuggles I am having an emotional moment right now. I can't pinpoint the exact cause. I feel a bit angry, a bit annoyed, a lot overwhelmed, a little intimidated, worried, and sad. I remember last time around I got overwhelmed and irrational angry a couple times but I don't remember getting emotional like this except for when I finished jogging 30 minutes. I have been doing well with my workouts this month and keeping track of my nutrition staying within my calories and the last couple days were ve... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 19:16:06 EST Extra visual motivation

So I have a wedding to attend at the end of April. If I hadn't taken time off of my workouts, I know I would still be on track to be able to not only feel healthier and better but also to look great in whatever I would be wearing. The bride and groom are health enuthusiest and they have been hitting the gym and toning up even more for the big day and I just really want to look fabulous and not feel like crap when... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 20:39:40 EST 2013 fitness calendar I love the fitness/ food tracker on Spark but I wanted a little something extra with graphics something to help me focus more on my monthly goals and progress so I don't get too overwhelmed with my year's end goal. This way I can just focus on the mini monthly goals and take it one day at a time. Maybe by next year it won't be a routine but rather a new lifestyle. I wanted something cute and colorful and found this calendar on It's not fitness or health themed hehe but t... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 18:18:52 EST I'm back for more! I took a few months off. Boy was that a bad idea. I've got renewed fervor and a vengeance for more weight loss I've tasted blood and I'm back for more. Only problem is it's not gonna be easy to just jump back in and I found out today I am not going to be starting where I left off. More like it seems harder than it was in the beginning last time. Oh boy. Wanted to get a jump start on getting into my full daily workout routine again for the new year. Just did a half hour of cardio and stru... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 14:56:30 EST I'm ready for new fitness milestone Finally getting back into my workout stride. I did 9 minutes of low impact cardio to warm up then a 10 minute bootcamp cardio, followed up with a 16 minute jump rope cardio. According to fitness tracker, that's 696 calories burnt. It was actually pretty easy to get back into the swing of it and I am surprised I burnt that much in such a short workout since I was doing 45 minutes-hour 6-7 days a week burning an average of 1,000 calories a day. I will say my nose was really sore for a few minut... Fri, 19 Oct 2012 01:17:39 EST Time to throw the soy sauce away About 7 years ago, I tried soy milk for the first time. I got bad ovary pain. I drank it a few more times to make sure and got the same pain again and again. And the same think happened when I ate edamame (Soy beans) So I did some research
on soy to find out if it was bad for women. All I could find was that soy contains photoestrogen which mimic our estrogen and can confuse our bodies. I thought it was strange so I stopped drinking soy milk for quite a while. But I continued to use soy... Fri, 28 Sep 2012 17:14:18 EST Fall tea I am so happy that Fall is here! My favorite season. Dressing in layers, cute sweaters and scarves. Gloves! Driving though yellow and red vineyards, pretty red and green maples, and for me-- tea season! The last few days I have experimented by brewing my own teas using Ginger root. Making some homemade ginger tea again today. Yesterday I brewed some ginger with a chunk of carrot and 2 tblspoons peach nectar. I added just a couple pinches of Splenda in my teacup and it was delicious! Tod... Fri, 28 Sep 2012 16:32:58 EST Arsenic in rice I grew up eating white rice-- it was our family's main staple. I don't eat much rice anymore maybe 2-3 times a weeks instead of 5-6. In fact I have even switched to brown rice because I heard that was a better option. But now there are reports of arsenic in rice, 44% overwhat they consider to be a safe level. And brown rice is worse for you because white rice is polished- removing some of the arsenic. They suggest limiting rice consumption once a week at the most and rinsing it very well... Sat, 15 Sep 2012 08:37:21 EST My list I took some time thinking. I thought coming up with a list for all my favorite little things would be easier. It used to be easy when I was a kid. Mon, 10 Sep 2012 16:03:58 EST The little things in life (share your list) I haven't written a blog for a little while and lately my cardio excerise has been shortened to a 30 minutes jog every day. I manage to fit an hour of strength training in but only twice a week. I been scattered and busy the last couple of weeks. So much going on here at home. In fact right now I need to jump in the shower and clean up a few things before doing the weekend shopping and getting dinner ready (I am always a little behind on everything). Mon, 20 Aug 2012 18:05:51 EST Warning TMI (girl stuff) For those of you who have read my earlier blogs, you know that one of the reasons I have wanted to lose weight and get healthier is to try to get my "monthly" back so I can have children someday. Well after 3 years of nothing and worrying that something was wrong and 2 and a half months into my Spark journey-- I am now capable of having children. Knock on wood and hoping to have this blessing again next month and for many many years to come. Sorry if this is too much information but I AM S... Sat, 18 Aug 2012 22:11:56 EST Oh yeah Worked out for 75 minutes tonight. It was strength training day and I worked every single muscle except maybe my toe muscles. I am completely tired. I read my fitness minutes wrong and I was so excited today thinking I was going to break 500 minutes for the month. I always get excited about the 250, 500, and 1,000 fitness minutes mark. If I hit 1,000 early enough in the month I set my goals on 2,000. I've gotten close 1,900 but I haven't touched 2,000 yet. But I read the number wrong. ... I don't know where I would be in this journey if not for you ladies. I checked out the calendar tracker on the start page today under the "Insider" tab. ... Tue, 14 Aug 2012 15:45:39 EST August has been a handful It's been awhile since I have had time to visit a friend's spark page or say hello and to be honest-- it's been about 4 days since I've done my exercises. I have been overwhelmed by multiple family issues. As soon as one fire was put out--- another one erupted. I did not listen to my inner self and my own valid concerns and went ahead and went on that trip to the car show and since then it has been one thing after the other. Tue, 24 Jul 2012 16:36:44 EST my comment on: Hehe thanks for reading my long blog ladies. And thanks for the advice AWSOMEKATY and REFFIE1. I am not really complaining about all the awesome treats they want to have. It's really up to me and my own will power to control the situation-- I know that. Sun, 22 Jul 2012 15:36:13 EST A new way to "deal" with tough stuff Pushed through and did my workout. In the past when I have been sad or hurt I would turn to food or feel too miserable to workout and just crawl into bed and try to sleep the "bad" things away. But today-- I just worked out. Yogilates, jogging, and 2 Spark videos and 72 minutes and 1026 burnt calories later-- I am starting to feel ok. I jogged for 30 minutes straight for the second time in my life since I did it 2 days ago HAHA. I can't believe how when I first joined Spark almost 2 mon... Thu, 19 Jul 2012 16:13:53 EST need to vent Ugh I am so aggravated. Don't you hate when you hear from family that your sister is talking crap about you nonstop? My sister has continued to not support my diet and weight loss efforts. She continues to ignore my progress and has pretty much ignored me completely since I started this journey. I have had no contact with her and I haven't mentioned my concerns to anyone besides my fiance. Well today multiple family members tell me that she had been hating on me nonstop and has even been... Today I decided to just do jogging for cardio-- nothing else and see how far I could go. I did 15 minutes...then 20. Then I told myself I could jog 30. Just keep going you can do it. I have NEVER jogged 30 minutes in my entire life (ok maybe when I was playing as a little kid). Every time I thought "maybe that's good enough for today" the number 30 kept popping up. Thu, 28 Jun 2012 22:55:18 EST A personal challenge :) Well first off-- yesterday marked my one month anniversary of joining Sparks. Still going strong and ready for a whole new month of challenges and goals. For the month of June I have received a medal for racking up over 1,000 fitness minutes. I have to admit the week shortly after that I felt so accomplished I took it a little easier on my workouts for a few days. Today I look at my fitness total 1,268 and I am thinking--- what's stopping me from reaching 2,000 fitness minutes before this... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 17:25:17 EST No sisterly support I already posted this in a couple forums but I am so boggled that I want to mark this day-- as I am marking all important happenings on my weight loss journey to maybe make a personal book out of to look back on and see how far I've come and how hard I had to work to get there.

I wish my own sister, my flesh and blood could give me just an inch of the support I have been getting from the awesome people at Spark-- my other family and friends. Mon, 18 Jun 2012 14:02:27 EST Wooops and Woohoos So I have been continuing with my diet-- I bumped up my exercises and have been burning 2 to 3 times more than my recommended 337 and as a result, I've needed more than my 1200 calories a day-- a couple days I had something closer to 1600 but they were days I burned over a thousand calories so I guess that explains my need to refuel. I was so excited about the "jogging" that I have attempted the lunges in the 20 minute fat blast weight loss sculpt DVD and pushed my injured knee a little too ... Sun, 17 Jun 2012 19:33:03 EST 06/12/12 Marks a milestone Wow!! I reached one of my goals today. I thought it would take at least a couple of months to get to this point. Today was cardio day. I did 20 minutes of yogilates to stretch and get warmed up, then 10 minutes of bootcamp cardio followed by 10 minutes of cardio kickboxing, then 12 minutes low impact cardio. But then I had the idea to follow that up with 16 minutes of marching. The only thing is I ended up surprising myself by alternating with jogging. For every minute of marching I fo... Tue, 12 Jun 2012 14:56:13 EST Health kick (in the butt) Last week, my fiance's sister expressed interest in wanting to lose weight. She was on a diet last year and she did great-- I think she lost about 70 lbs. I was so proud and so happy for her. I wasn't ready to do it with her at the time and I'm afraid she didn't get as much support and solidarity as she should have. But none the less she stuck to her guns and she did great. She hit a plateau diet wise and wasn't able to lose as much weight every week. I wondered if it's because her body ... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 13:33:28 EST Nice day.... I've done some workout videos today and I'm looking forward to a walk. I noticed that the "leg circles" from the basic pilates was even easier today and was actually painless. Also, I am trying to put off doing cleaning chores for now. I noticed a friend post a picture of the water and it looked gorgeous!! Now I'm thinking how great it would be to grab a chair, blanket, some nice ice cold drinks (maybe a healthy iced smoothie) and go hang out by the river or the beach. Sounds so blissful... Fri, 8 Jun 2012 16:46:44 EST Trip yourself, fall down, get back up Had a rough start today. I got into a fight with my fiance' and he went to work and I was left home to cry. My first thought was "How am I going to workout like every thing is fine right now?" My second thought was to crawl into bed go to sleep and just forget this day ever existed. Instead, I turned on my DVR and watched the episode of Real Housewives I hadn't seen yesterday. I have tried to get in the habit of not eating while watching tv but I found myself eating lunch at the coffee t... Wed, 6 Jun 2012 18:00:25 EST A little easier everyday (Stretches make a world of difference) I love noticing all the little changes that are happening with my workouts and using the fitness/nutrition trackers. I am excited to look back on these blogs in a few months to see how I progressed. Doing the workout videos with Coach Nicole used to really kick my butt. The videos are getting a little easier to do although the 10 minute cardio bootcamp workout day 1 still gets me to break a good sweat. It's been a lot easier to do the yogilates-- especially on my knees since I got a yoga ... Tue, 5 Jun 2012 19:31:29 EST That's just bananas I don't know how many people incorporate bananas in their diet. I bought a bunch of them at the beginning of the week because I wanted to eat mostly fruits and vegetables with some grain and lean meat. Plus bananas have lots of potassium which is great for muscle cramps and they also help lower your blood pressure. I have cut up a banana to add to my cereal for breakfast every morning-- half a banana if I also add fresh strawberries. But it's the end of the week and I am left with 2 reall...
