Tue, 15 Jun 2010 23:13:47 EST Solo Half Marathon and What I Learned! Today I completed my second half marathon for 2010 and it differed from many others I have done.
I learned that I am capable of getting myself up and ready and out the door by my deadline - no one was waiting on me or picking me up. I know that I missed my race buddies! WooHoo - Janet and John in Outer Banks, NC!
I learned that fog cannot stop me from getting to my destination and that it isn't as frightening to drive in as I might have thought. Tue, 2 Mar 2010 21:25:51 EST Breckenridge, Colorado 2/2/2010 - Some days are made in heaven! I took the opportunity to make a trip to Breckenridge today to visit a friend who lives and works up there and I really could not have chosen a better day. I think the temps were in the 30's - so spring like - and I was feeling overdressed for the weather - at least early in the day - the temps do tend to drop once the sun starts to set.
The past week they had the Snow/Ice Sculpting Championships and I have never made it up there to get a look at the entries in the past - so, I gassed ... Sun, 31 Jan 2010 23:26:09 EST Putting it out there! One of the challenges for the 8 Week Battle team is to post our beginning pictures and whew, don't I just hate to make myself do that but, here they are - there are several because I felt some actually showed a better (less flattering) "picture" of where I am currently.
I have made progress - do, I have the numbers to prove it - no! I didn't actually take measurements when I started the first battle(#5) but if you check my Spark Page you will be able to compare those pictures and the ... Thu, 21 Jan 2010 01:35:11 EST Deer in the mist Some of you made it to the previous blog before I finished it and I realized that I didn't upload the pictures with the deer so, here they are - they kind of have the same look on their faces that I have so many times.
And then the sun tried to burn through at the end of the hike.

and th... Mon, 2 Nov 2009 00:41:24 EST Every Day - A New Adventure So, as I go along this journey to a healthier me I find great adventures to make to trip fun and exciting.
Today, I hiked the 3 Sisters Trail above Evergreen with the Meetup group that I joined a few weeks ago. Sometimes I feel like I am on top of the world.
I have been on 4 hikes in the recent past and each one provides me a new view - everyone of them breathtaking.
<img src=" Mon, 2 Nov 2009 00:02:32 EST 8Week Battle #5 Before and AFter Pics Ok, this is scary but, it is part of the process of change that I am accepting. If I don't post the pictures, did I really accept the challenge? So, while the before's have been on my SparkPage they are here as well> Three pound loss and these clothes fit looser than when I took the before's. I will be back for the next challenge and I am planning to double my loss - that means re-evaluating what worked and didn't work and being willing to make adjustments. I'm a winner and every Warrior... Tue, 29 Sep 2009 00:04:27 EST My Mother Is A Redneck - I guess that makes me one, too! I stopped by my Mom's today so that she could take me home and I could leave my car at her house while I am away on vacation. Something just tells me that I should not leave my car at my apartment for the next 10 days without supervision - it has had the bad habit of thinking it needs to spend time at the mechanic spa - so, maybe it will be happier having company - really, I know it isn't human! But sometimes it acts worse than a two year old throwing a tantrum and it always costs me money ... Wed, 2 Sep 2009 22:44:10 EST Card for Heroes This year while my sister was home from Hong Kong we once again got a group of people together to make cards for soldiers who are serving our country.
This time we made them for a group called CARDSFORHEROES . There were seven of us in the group - all women - Mary and Connie (two of my three sisters, Mom, my good SPARK buddy Janet, Rita and Pat. Boy did the creative juices start to flow. Thu, 20 Aug 2009 00:40:36 EST Things we do! I love days like today. It started gloriously with perfect weather for a race. Janet and Jeremy (Janet's son) picked me up so we could go to the Aflac Iron Girl 5K event at City Park in Denver.
I got to meet other Sparkpeople that I only knew via the website and that is always fun. I gained 1200 plus new friends - there were over 1200 participants in the race.
I had my best 5K and I was able to cheer others in as well as go back out and find Jacks and walk part of the course with... Sat, 8 Aug 2009 23:56:45 EST 8 Week Battle #5 - Inspired and aspiring to the challenge! Well, I told myself I needed a challenge in order not to plateau at this point, so, here I am committed to Battle #5. I did the Sweat suit to Swimsuit Challenge in May and had success, so, this can only help me move onward and DOWNWARD (weight/fat loss wise) and Upward - strength and spirit wise. I look forward to the challenge once I get all the rules and tracking figured out - and I will - that is part of my goal as well - don't give up - ask for help!
I got it in my head yesterday d... Mon, 3 Aug 2009 16:15:35 EST Accepting Challenges Well, in browsing the site tonight I found the Battle #5 challenge and have decided to sign up. I will be spending some time coming to grips with what I want to do in thi... Tue, 28 Jul 2009 00:36:28 EST Staying the course Well, I am caught up on my boot camp workouts - I had to do 3 workouts on Monday because I was busy Saturday and Sunday (Colfax 1/2 Marathon) and then Tuesday I did my strength workout with my trainer and didn't get to my boot camp workout because I needed to get ready for my Great Nephew's high school graduation. By the time I got back home I was too tired. I kept putting off doing my workouts until about 45 minutes ago when I just made myself get it done.
I am seeing results from the... Wed, 20 May 2009 22:21:34 EST Making Progress Ok, even though I feel as if my head will explode, I am better - sinus infection? allergies? the dreaded "Summer Cold?" Not sure which it is but, I am still trucking along. I missed the Sweat suit to Swimsuit Workout for Day 8 and still have not gone back to do it - I Will, really!
I walked last night and my tailbone is still giving me a bit of aggravation from the fall I took on April 27th - but, that too is better.
I feel some improvements in my fitness - clothes are fitting los... Wed, 13 May 2009 16:18:35 EST Healthy Thoughts I have not been weighing myself everyday this week and I feel pretty good about that - my past behavior was to weigh almost daily - sometimes more than once - hello, get real.
I am trying to weigh only once a week now and Friday is my day. I am not as obsessed with the number on the scale this week and I feel good about the healthier habits I have been woking on developing - eating healthier - logging my food - exercising more consistently - logging my exercise and in general cutting my...
