BLUEFAIRYTALE's SparkPeople Blog BLUEFAIRYTALE's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community one step at a time So I ended up having a rough march and gained a lot of weight back. After getting a magazine though and reading those articles about all of the people who have lost weight in their own way, and how happy they looked in the after pictures, I was inspired to begin again. Food cravings and junk food yes are tasty but after awhile I really started to feel the effects. And drinking too much soda with all those sugar highs and feeling tired in the end, it feels good to be back to water! It really d... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 15:33:04 EST making my splash The beginning of 2013 started off rough. The house where I live, well, I am having some landlord issues. Apparently he didn't have enough money for payments to the bank and had to possibly end up selling the house. These friends of his came to look at the house to become the new landlords and at the last minute backed out, so, its been disappointing. I just got here in July and don't want to move again. There is another possibility now another landlord might buy it but don't know for sure. I... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 21:37:22 EST ~Hello New Year!~ Today I woke up and stared at my calendar, marking it off with a blue highlighter as "Day One." It feels simply AMAZING to have a fresh start, considering 2012 was such a tough year in many different ways. I even reprinted out my membership card & pledge, posted it on my door/vision board area so that I can look at it every single day. I really have HIGH HOPES for this year. Not that it comes easy, a part of me is afraid, but all I can say is after reflecting on all the advice I've been given... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 15:45:58 EST it'll be worth it Some people may find this to be a bit silly, but I thought it was actually pretty helpful. I've done similar meditation exercises like this before, but this one was a bit different. The exercise was basically imagining your food cravings as a being. When I closed my eyes, I imagined I would see some hungry big blob, but oddly as it turns out, this is what I did not see.

Somehow in my imagination I saw a sad and depressed very skinny little girl, almost like a skeleton actually. Ve... Fri, 14 Dec 2012 18:07:44 EST coping I've decided to focus less on the scale, and more on the small choices that add up over time. I decided to make a list of all the things I can do instead of night snacking, and for each time I use one of them I'm going to put a tally mark next to each one in my little notebook. I recommend trying this! I've read a book called 50 Ways to Soothe Yourself without Food by Susan Albers and got the idea from there. There were lots of meditations and various ideas for what to do. Here is the list t... Sat, 10 Nov 2012 22:31:31 EST yoga & swiss ball articles The first article I read was about called "A Beginners Guide to Yoga." I don't know anything about it, and it's something I'm just starting out with. So I thought it would be a smart idea to read up on it. I thought the article was pretty basic and easy to understand, I can't believe yoga isn't something I haven't gotten interested in sooner since I love anything having to do with meditation or relaxation. I like that the article listed a bunch of terms I didn't know about, as well as some he... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 12:32:31 EST motivations to move article This is part 2 of my challenge this week in my team, to write about a fitness article I've read on here. I think I picked a really good one. It talked about how many people become very motivated to exercise and workout in the beginning of their weight loss journey, but how halfway into it you easily get very tired of it, and steps to take to re-motivate yourself.

Lots of interesting tips in here. One neat thing I learned was about peppermint. Some study was done on the energizing ... Thu, 25 Oct 2012 23:27:22 EST bust your bad mood -article challenge For the challenge this week on my team, it is to blog about 3 different fitness articles. For my first blog I picked "Bust your Bad mood with exercise" Use fitness, not food to change your state of mind. I thought it was really good and had many helpful tips in it!

I was drawn to this article because it is something very much I struggle with. When I'm sad or upset, I want to drown my sorrows in food, and more and more you learn just how dangerous that mindset really is. This articl... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 18:23:45 EST the next challenge I'm in a team where we do weekly challenges and weigh ins, and this weeks challenge is to reflect on the progress we've made and the things we'd like to improve on. Sad to say, I didn't do as well as I wanted to. Somewhere towards the middle of the week's challenges I started to slip, and then got really off track. I had a really bad ear infection that threw me off, but I'm not out to make excuses. I could have done better. Nothing I can do about it now though, except do my best for the nex... Fri, 19 Oct 2012 11:09:29 EST had a slip This is how I feel: 15

Icky. Was it worth it to overeat? No. Did the side effects feel good? No! ...The side effects being my health, the guilt, and the number on the scale. I don't want to beat myself up because I know that will do no good, but I'm very angry at myself and my bad habits. Part of it was I got really sick this week, still am. Today was not much of a day, I took some cold medicine and pretty much passed out for a lot of the day. I don't want to say what... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 22:15:53 EST rock it! playlist Here is my playlist for the Rock it team challenge. The song Zero Gravity by Kerli is based on the title of my page. It's a wonderful song, I think its more or less a song about being in love, but it can definitely be applied to the weight loss journey too. I take the song as being on top of the world, and putting no limits on what you can accomplish. I decided to post the lyrics.

Playlist:

Amazing Life -Britt Nicole
Breakthrough -Britt Nicole
Trip To Your Hear... It seemed I was going back to my old ways and just not caring, I was sick a lot too but still. Sometimes too personal issues just pile up and a person's mind races and you feel like you can't take it, you just have to eat! But I am so sick and tired of this "poor me, I cant live without food" attitude that I have.

Last night I really caught myself and had a bit of an aha moment. Tue, 7 Aug 2012 00:04:11 EST there is hope 10 great changes I have made since I've joined Spark:

* Strength training (never even thought about the word last year!)

* I actually enjoy exercising. (dont love it yet, but i dont hate it like I used to)

* I know I have what it takes to get in those 8 glasses of water, not as hard as I thought.

*Started using a wii fit, stability ball, dumbbells, all inspired by spark.

* I actually have gotten over the 10 pound mark, haven't done that i... Wed, 1 Aug 2012 17:00:12 EST learned my lesson I'm not sure what happened this week. I was doing pretty good when it comes to exercising and working out, but things just kind of fell out of place and I ended up going out to eat, which tends to throw me off, I should have spoke up and suggested Subway or something. Now because of it I feel very crummy, physically and emotionally. I want to remember this feeling as a reminder for next week that when I don't eat well, I don't feel well. And although cravings can really be annoying, the disc... Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:56:35 EST being mindful I'm reading a book called Donate Your Weight, that talks a lot about the emotional and mindful aspects of trying to lose weight, and it just makes me realize how much of this addiction is really all in my head. I find myself wanting to continue to eat even after I'm full, even if I know I will feel stuffed, I still crave that 5-10 minute high. But why?

So it's not really even me just being physically hungry. I read the thing about cravings is they come on all of a sudden, while tru... Sun, 15 Jul 2012 20:39:11 EST shopping In the past 2 weeks I've lost 8 pounds. It's interesting too because there were a few days that I may have slipped, like at a few extra chips or something, but I believe a person doesn't have to be perfect, they just have to simply go ahead and make an effort and try their best. I suppose there will be some weeks where the scale will not say what I want it to, but I'm just so happy at this moment. I weigh 309 now and I am so close to being out of the 300's. Knowing that I'm not that far away... Discouragement is a certain weigh station on the road to any worthwhile achievement.

If you know and care enough to be discouraged, you've made considerable progress. Sun, 8 Jul 2012 16:09:18 EST motivated & energized Sometimes a person stops and thinks wow, I have a long ways to go on this journey. But then I read one of my friend's blogs about all the weight she has lost and how much better she feels and it really re-inspired me to just take this all one day at a time and know that I have what it takes. I know the journey will be worth it.

I was in a terrible mood. I get easily discouraged. I went over my sodium intake today and ate a little of what I feel I should not have ate, I wanted to s... Sun, 1 Jul 2012 19:47:58 EST summer days Today I don't think I did too bad. I never thought I would say it but I'm starting to love vegetables. The veggie medley bags with low fat dip makes a perfect snack, yum! And it actually fills me up.

I wonder if anyone else feels the way I do on this though: I'm so used to be being very full as opposed to just normally full. I need to get over the fact that I don't need to be super duper full all the time and have midnight snacking so much. I wonder what it is about night time th... Mon, 4 Jun 2012 22:43:38 EST a new beginning It's been a very busy week. Sunday will be my moving day, I'm starting over in a different city. This is my last day of internet until Tuesday which is when I will be hooked up again. That's when I'm going to start tracking my food and exercise here on spark.

I think moving will actually help a lot. It is so pretty where i'm moving to and there is more to do, plus there is a Y and I plan on joining that and looking into starting an water aerobics class. I want to make sure that thi...
