BLESSEDGMP's SparkPeople Blog BLESSEDGMP's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Gluten Free oh my! I did a food sensitivity test and the results have three levels. Level ones you should not eat more then once every four days. Level ones included almost all vegetables!! Level two they suggested I totally quit eating for at least a month. Gluten was the guilty culprit along with coconut. You would be shocked at how many things have gluten and or coconut in them. The nutritionist said that if I follow these restrictions it should reduce inflamation and unstick my weight loss. 10 days in and ... Fri, 2 Sep 2016 00:51:19 EST Back again in 2016 I went back and looked and I first started coming to Sparkspeople over 4 years ago. I have been on again and off again all that time. Funny how the on again times were the losing times and the off again times were the gaining times . Makes you go HMMMM LOL! I am not good at making or keeping resolutions so for now my only goal is to track my food no matter how bad it is. The other thing I need to do is go to a podiatrist . My plantar facitist (sp) is so bad I can barely walk much less exercis... Sat, 2 Jan 2016 23:30:07 EST I am officially OLD Today is my 65th birthday. I have spent the majority of those 65 years overweight. My first baby picture was captioned "Fat ain't she?" Parents be careful what you say to your kids that has stayed with me all these years. So just because I have been fat most of my life doesn't mean I have to be fat ALL my life. It is never to late to get healthy! This next year a will:
Track my food daily
Exercise at least 10 minutes a day
Visit sparks boards daily
Get to ONDERLAND (40 ish... Fri, 7 Nov 2014 08:56:30 EST Willpower “It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.” ~James Gordon
Fri, 31 Oct 2014 23:38:02 EST Back again I have been MIA for over a year. I only gained back a few lbs but I am going the wrong direction. I just can't seem to get motivated so I am back again for some accountability. I don't have lofty goals I will be happy with a lb a week. There are 21 weeks to the end of the year so my goal is 21 lbs by 12/31. Wed, 9 Jul 2014 00:25:33 EST I am a size 0. 0X that is. It finally got warm enough for capris. My size twentys were falling off so I went to Catherines for their 40% off sale. I ended up with size 0X which is a 14-16. I have up in my closet a reminder skirt that is my biggest size. It is a size 30. I can put me and my grand daughter in it with room to spare. I have been bummed out because i have been stuck at the same weight for several months but this gives me a big boost to keep on keeping on! Fri, 10 May 2013 10:33:14 EST 2013 Goals I want to lose 55 lbs in 2013 since that is just over a lb a week it should be doable. In order to do that I will track my food every day even the bad days and exercise at least 4 times a week.

I also want to volunteer more. I volunteer 3 times a month now but would like to increase that to once a week minimum.

I want to stay in His word and pray EVERY day.

Pat Sat, 29 Dec 2012 23:26:44 EST My favorite Christmas present... I got all four Sweating to the Oldies in DVD form. I know they are hokie but they make me laugh and are fun to do when it is too cold to walk. Second favorite gift was snow for Christmas not something that happens very often in TX. I take that back my very favorite present was two different neurologists both agreeing I can drive again, so after two years of depending on others I can go where I want when I want. Now I just need to find a car. I am not going to drive far the first few months ju... Thu, 27 Dec 2012 23:21:25 EST thought for 2013 Tue, 18 Dec 2012 22:16:41 EST My goal for my next Spark year is to be overweight In otherwords no longer obese just overweight LOL. I need to lose 37 lbs in the next year to bring my BMI under 30 which brings me down to the overweight catagory instead of the obese catagory. Only my fellow Sparkpeople would understand that it is a great accomplishment to be overweight LOL.

Hugs Pat Thu, 20 Sep 2012 13:33:09 EST Today is my one year Sparkaversary I have lost 30 lbs in that year. My goal was to lose 52 lbs and get under 200. I guess that will be my goal for this next coming year. I did learn that the more I exercise and TRACK that exercise and the more I TRACK my eating the better I lose. I did have several bouts of illness and hospital visits but that is no excuse what about the rest of the year that I slacked off. I need to get back into exercising and tracking my food. At my age that is the only way I can lose. I also do much better... Thu, 20 Sep 2012 12:37:43 EST Warning major rant I am so MAD at American Airlines. I was sick so had to change my flight dates so they charged me $60 in higher ticket prices and $150 change fee. Today one day later the ticket prices went down a total of $141 and would they give me the lower price NO of course not. That is not right. Thu, 13 Sep 2012 18:10:46 EST I ate 4000 calories total in the last 10 days. I have been really sick and only had water or 7up for several days and crackers and toast when I finally started eating. I of course lost weight but that kind of "sick" weeight never stays off. The worst part was I was supposed to leave on a two week visit to my sister in Sacramento and had to postpone. Changing the plane tickets cost $210. So of course once I changed the tickets and paid the money I am starting to feel better LOL. I was afraid I would end up in the... Thu, 13 Sep 2012 09:55:58 EST My disability hearing was today After a year and a half of no income and being turned down twice this was the final chapter. My lawyer said if I was turned down this time that was pretty much it. We get there and my lawyer said he tried to call us and I thought uh oh what now but the judge decided to give me full disability without my even having to go to court. Whew I was mainly worried about medical insurance but now I will get Medicare next July. Wed, 5 Sep 2012 20:51:43 EST 20 lbsin 20 weeks challenge week two How did you do the first week? Our goal is twenty lbs in twenty weeks which gets us to the end of the year. I only excised 3 days and tracked food Three days but lost four lbs so I am a happy camper. I have not food journaled In months and exercise has been spotty. I need to get back on track. I am headed the wrong direction I read somewhere that health insurance companies will deny you coverage if you are a woman over 210. My cobra runs out in January so I HAVE to get those 20 lbs off. If anyone wants to join me just reply to my blog on Monday's how you are doing. I will report in every Mo... Tue, 14 Aug 2012 10:06:14 EST I am proud of myself And a little shocked. It is because of all the rehab work I have to do to get my new knee in shape. I am almost where they want me to be so when I go to the doctor on the 17 th he will proably take me off of rehab . I just hope I continue with the exercise after I am done with rehab. So far for July I have done diddly squat. I have been sick in bed with my friend pancreatitis. I can't eat and barely drink water as it causes pain . I am tring to avoid going to the ... Mon, 2 Jul 2012 08:45:58 EST Whoohoo I am under 220 for the first time in over 30 years also I have lost 100 lbs since my highest weight. When I moved to TX 16 years ago I was 320. It took me 16 years but I lost that 100 lbs. I would lose 20 or 30 lbs then stabilize at that weight for a few years then do it again. My current goal is to get below 200 then I will be more then happy to stalize there for a while. So the moral of the story is Never Give Up and Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Pat Wed, 20 Jun 2012 00:33:50 EST A Skinny woman inside Thu, 7 Jun 2012 08:38:29 EST Seriously!! I went to see my ortho pedic surgeon 3 weeks after my knee replacement. He wants me to exercise my knee for one hour out of every two. Really really? It is extremely painful no matter what position it is in 6-7 hours of exercising it a day will be living hell. I tried it this afternoon after my appointment and spent the hour I between sessions crying on and off from the pain and from the feeling of being totally overwhelmed. But I know it will get better a nd easier a little each day but ri... Tue, 22 May 2012 23:35:00 EST Surgery went well I have alreadt gotten up and walked down the hall. Care has been excellent. To get below 220 (227 now) and to do my thigh strengthening exercises my surgeon gave me Every day. I am supposed to strenthen my thigh muscles before my knee replacement surgery. It is supposed to help a lot with recovery. I have been doing them and can see I have been getting stronger but I need to do them every day not just when I feel like it LOL.

Pat Tue, 3 Apr 2012 13:25:02 EST Pictures of my April Fool meals

I put food coloring in the bottom of the cereal bowl so when we added milk it turned blue. Mon, 2 Apr 2012 22:48:19 EST Excrcise and April fools tricks I have already blown well past the exercise goal Sparks set for me for the year. I wonder where they come up with that number it seems pretty low. I am playing several food related April fools jokes on my grandkids. For breakfast you put blue food coloring in the bottom of a bowl then add cereal to cover it up then when the milk is poured the milk turns blue. For lunch you cot thin strips of hot dogs and score them and when you cook them they curl up and look like worms. French fries are ma... Sat, 31 Mar 2012 10:21:20 EST GRRRR The food tracker is tripling everything I put down so I keep freaking out thinking I am WAY to high on calories, fat etc but it is because it triples everything so then I have to go back and take two off. Is anyone else having problems?

Pat Wed, 28 Mar 2012 23:16:07 EST GRRRR The food tracker is tripling everything I put down so I keep freaking out thinking I am WAY to high on calories, fat etc but it is because it triples everything so then I have to go back and take two off. In those six months i lost 25 lbs which sounds great until you find out I lost 25 lbs the first 3 month and for the next three I have been bouncing up and down the same 5 lbs. I wanted to get under 200 in one year which I am on track to do if I just stop bouncing around. I have come to realize the more I get involved in this board the more likely I am to stay on track so I recently signed up as a back up leader for the 50's 60's sa... YEAH!
I was getting together my too big clothes to take to a charity I volunteer at and my daughter in law went through some of her stuff too. She gave me some things to try on. They fit but were a little tight but they were a LARGE. Not an extra large or a 2x or a 3x bit a regular ordinary large. WOW!! Wed, 7 Mar 2012 12:50:00 EST Definition of CALORIES hehehe Thu, 1 Mar 2012 22:03:02 EST Time to get back to it no more excuses and whining I have been out of the hospital 3 weeks time to start exercising again. 4 weeks of no exercise equaled a 4 lb gain. The plan is to start slow 3 min 3x a week and work back up to 250 min a week by St Patricks Day. So hold me to it LOL.

I went through mu closet and pulled out everything that is too big which didn't leave much. I just bought 2 pairs of pants and 5 blouses at Women Within online for $60 plus free shipping. I hope they fit and I like them it is a pain to send stuff back... Sat, 18 Feb 2012 22:48:27 EST pnuemonia is gone YEAH but I am still super tired all the time and get nauseated a lot. Going back to the gastro guy next week. I haven't exercised in three weeks maybe by thursday or friday I can give it a try. I am just afraid of a relapse. At least I am not gaining back any of the weight. Not losing but not gaining. For now I am happy with that.

Pat Tue, 14 Feb 2012 00:05:55 EST I am home! Finally out of the hospital and able to eat. Still a little queasy so mostly eating carbs that is all that agrees with me when nauseated. I lost back the 16 lbs of fluid weight I gained in the hospital. Let me tell you that was disalutioning when they would weigh me and I would be up 5 lbs a day there for a while. Even though I knew it was water weight it was disturbing to see my 3 months of hard work to lose 20 lbs go away in three days.. I hope this current queasyness does not lead to anoth... Fri, 3 Feb 2012 14:31:35 EST ROFL Chilis has a new lighter menu. Nothing on the lighter menu is more than 750 calories and 25 grams of fat. Light??? LOL Mon, 30 Jan 2012 11:59:50 EST Got a little present While in the hospital recovering from pancreatitis I got a nice little gift I now have pnuemonia. I am in the hospital with pancreatitis and not allowed to eat or drink for several days it has already been 5 days with little food or water and and no exercises of course. I have a weird auto immune disorder that causes chronic pancreatitus. Wed, 25 Jan 2012 21:48:20 EST I lost 100 lbs in a day At least on my tracker. I put in 131 for my weight instead of 231 so I instantly lost 100 lbs LOL. If only it were that easy hehehe. But NOOO we have to work for it!! I have lost 20 lbs in 3 months which for my age and metabolism is amazing. I haven't been this low in over 30 years I am so excited the 220's are just a breath away.

Hugs, Pat AKA Blessedgmp Wed, 11 Jan 2012 16:33:25 EST Finally!! Tue, 10 Jan 2012 12:01:40 EST Fitness minutes GONE It kind of freaked me out to see all my hard earned fitness minutes disappear and everything is back to zero. The old year is gone and a new year is here time to get even more fitness minutes. I am pretty proud that in just 3 months I almost doubled the yearly goal Sparks set for me. Started the new year out right I went out and bought a bunch of orgainizing shelves cubes ect to organize my craft stuff and room. I spent the morning watching the grandkids while my daughter in law took my son to the ER with level 10 back pain. They never really decided what it was other then probably a pinched nerve they did a bunch of tests and sent him home with major drugs. We eventually opened Christmas presents but the turkey dinner is waiting until tomorrow. It is funnly we joked last week that no one was allowed to go to the ER this Christmas and we mainly meant me because I have spent more... Sun, 25 Dec 2011 23:02:55 EST Disappointing doctors appointment I only lost 15 on her scale not the 20 I was hoping for. She was very impressed though that I could actually lose not gain over the holidays. I told her about sparkpeople and she is going to tell some of her patients about it. That part was all good but when my blood tests came back my glucose level went up not down. I was hoping it would start going down. It went from 96 to 97 that is getting way to close to the diabetes range for comfort. I guess instead of closly watching calories I am goi... Wed, 21 Dec 2011 14:04:48 EST My doctors appt is Monday how close am I to the 20 lbs I wanted to lose? I last went to my internist the day before I started Sparks three months ago. My goal has been to lose twenty lbs before my next visit which is Monday. How close am I? One half lb away!!! Think I will make it? Even if I don't I got darn close! Of course I last weighed in summer clothes and now it is winter so her scale probably won't agree with mine but I'll know. AND I also that same half lb from losing the five I wanted by the end of the year. My new goal is to get into the 220's only 3 lbs... Tue, 6 Dec 2011 22:40:05 EST A different perspective I had my worst day yet since I started Sparks 2 months ago. At first I was freaking out because I had 2000 calories today 500 over the top of my range. But as I thought about it I realized two months ago I was having 2000 plus calories every day and a pig out day could have easily topped 4000. Yes I had cake and chips and dip but just a small amount of each and I journaled every bite. Before I would have said well I blew it so I might as well just keep eating what I want I can't stick to a he... Sun, 4 Dec 2011 23:41:45 EST
