I have been staying with my sister for about a week now as I have a cast on my left foot and leg to the knee. Am not able to do all that I feel like I should. Don't know how long I will have the cast. The reason I have it is because the sore on my ankle still has not healed and they felt that I was moving it too much so the cast went on. PLus the cardio surgeon is going to go over some results with me this next week to see if I have to have so... Sat, 4 Oct 2014 15:04:17 EST Mowing today The key start on the mower is plugged in and charging. Will get the gas tank filled and by noon today the rest of the front yard will be mowed. While it is charging will get started on painting the last room. At least get the first coat on. Will have to wait to see how the day progresses as to whether I will go ahead and do any more painting in the kitchen. I praise the Lord for all that he has given me the strength to do and know that with Him all things are possible.
God bless you Sun, 24 Aug 2014 08:22:07 EST Quickie This will be real quick tonight as I still have things I need to get done. Quite a lot was done today. I stained around three doors and one window. By the time I got that done, Michael was on his way over to put in the dishwasher. Once he got that in with minimal help from me. we got busy and put mini blinds back up to the new windows and valances up to the dining room windows. We picked about ten pounds of grapes and a bunch of okra and about half a dozen green peppers. Michael loaded... I got a trash bag of weeds. Fi Sun, 13 Jul 2014 14:07:39 EST Quick Note Just a quick note to let you all know that I am still going. I am seeing the scales go down!!! I have been working like a horse getting things done before the appraiser comes. He was supposed to come tomorrow but we rescheduled because there was no way to get all of what needed to be done finished. Of course the more we do the more we see that we feel needs to be done. Thank God for my son, Michael as he has been here almost everyday and without him a big portion of what has been done is... Finally a little bit of a break before I start in again. The celebration of Jeff's life went very well. His mom had me in tears more than once before the day arrived and they actually showed up. I kind of kept my distance most of the time because I did not want anything to start up because I knew if it did I would blow. You would all have been so proud of me for the way I handled the situation. I will probably never hear from them again although I do have to call and get a couple of addr... It has been a hectic couple of days. All arrangements have been finalized and I am exhausted and will be turning in here in just a few minutes. We have gotten a lot done in the yard because we are having a Celebration of Jeff's Life on the 21st here at our back yard. This is the way Jeff wanted it. We are having a party of life. I cannot sit here anymore as I am going to sleep s... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 00:08:03 EST Productive day Jeff was a little more alert today. The social worker came by concerning the Grant a Wish request, Jeff asked that someone come in on the 14th and be with him so I can go to my family reunion. They have someone all lined up for about 12 hours. Thank God I now know that I will be able spend time with the whole clan. It is set up that if Jeff goes ome to be with the Lord before that time Hospice will let the social worker know and the day will be canceled for the worker,
Did not get m... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 20:17:32 EST Tired The nurse was here today and she could get no temp reading. She took bp in both arms and neither were any good and His heart is racing. She says it will be less than a week before he is no longer with us. I rejoice for I know where he has gone!!! I will when this is over sleep for a week. I am that tired. Keeping busy helps me cope a little better. Have finished a couple of small jobs this afternoon and am still painting o the lattice. This evening after it cools off some, I hope to... Tue, 3 Jun 2014 15:02:19 EST Hopefully more rain We had a nice shower yesterday and it has really clouded up off and on today, but so far no more rain. We could use a lot more than we got.
Got to the attorney's office and got the papers on Jeff and the ones on me were just delivered. That takes care of part of the legal stuff.
The hospice volunteer was here at seven thirty this morning. He caught us still sleeping. I thought he was coming anytime after he went to church but he got it wrong in his mind. It was too early to go ... Mon, 2 Jun 2014 13:30:49 EST Sunday hearing thunder Thank God for Steve, he walked in the door and told me to get done what I had to be and not to worry about the time as he was there to stay with Jeff and give me the time I needed. Only went to two stores, but spent more than I should have. Will be having more time off tomorrow as the hospice volunteer will be here and I have to go to the attorney's office and sign some papers and get some copies of what Jeff has already signed. Probably should take one copy of the financial power of atto... Sun, 1 Jun 2014 16:50:15 EST Quick note Jeff is weakening but he is still determined to get up and get in his chair during the day. He is sleeping a lot especially after he takes the morphine. I am working out in the yard as much as I can and today am hoping to get another pass through where the chicken pen was with the tiller. I had Michael bring his big tiller over and I am using it plus my new electric tiller which I have almost burned up. I can only use it for short periods of time before it gets too hotand then it takes qu... Sat, 31 May 2014 17:46:13 EST Thank You I want to take this few minutes to thank all of you for your continued prayers and support during this period of time during my life. Thank you and God bless Wed, 28 May 2014 09:41:06 EST End getting closer Today Jeff's family were here to see him. His brother got here yesterday and his sister and her husband and grandson this morning and his folks about noon. It was a good visit for him, but a tiring one. He did not make it to his ten oclock curfew he has set for himself. His brother will probably be leaving tomorrow.
Tomorrow will be a hard day for me as I have to call the funeral director and start getting plans put into place. This really makes me face the truth.
I am tired a... Tue, 27 May 2014 23:14:38 EST Peace I am in peace with the fact tha Jeff will be going home to the Lord very shortly. I had been told that he had 4 to5 years to live when he was first diagnosed and it was stage 4. I knew that if a miracle happened and the Lord granted him more time on this earth that I would be facing the days that I am now. I have accepted it and am at peace with it.
Today I don;t believe there will be any work outside as I have a lot to do before tomorrow gets here and his brother arrives and his folk... Mon, 26 May 2014 10:13:51 EST Good day Today was a good and I am exhausted. My son, his wife and three little ones came over, plus my daughter and her three, my sis and two other kids and my one grandaughters boyfriend and one other grand daughter were all here for a cook out. Everyone except for theyoungest spent quality time with Jeff. The two grand daughters and the boyfriend had him laughing and joking around. Monday sometime his brother from S. Carolina is coming in and on Tuesday his folks will be here again. His sister... Sun, 25 May 2014 23:30:03 EST Kids tomorrow Yesterday, I got it all cleaned out under the grape arbor. I potted up a geranium to go on the little table I had made for under there a few years ago. I noticed that the benches and table could sure use a coat of paint. Will see when I can get that worked in. I started painting the trellises I made for around the patio. I had some white paint here and decided to see what it looked like. Going to look really good when I get it all done.
Yesterday I called the kids and it looks as... Sat, 24 May 2014 09:55:16 EST pLANS FOR THE DAY My plans for this day are not stupendous. I have some flowers to plant and clean the area under the grape arbor It is a total disaster. Jeff put a lot of stuff there last fall the different assortment of critters he thought might choose to stay there to be in out of the cold. I have bricks, wood, tarps and I am not sure what else out there that needs to be moved. Afew years ago, I made benches a a small table to go out under the arbor and they really should be painted again.
I ran t... Fri, 23 May 2014 07:38:14 EST Yard work The yard work or as I call it playing in the dirt is my therapy. Plus I see so much progress being made in a positve manner in what is going to be a beauty. Just have to envision what it is going to look like in the years ahead. Ninety percent of what I am planting will be coming back for many years unless someone takes them out. I planted another shrub yesterday plus about seven more perennials. I told the Lord that next year it will look even better. Today is going to be moving the sw... Thu, 22 May 2014 11:00:49 EST Stress Keeping busy and keeping my mind on this and that are two ways I am coping with things right now. I kind of fell apart at the drs office this afternoon. I had another inr run to monitor the blood thinness. The dr agrees with me thatt I should not be bruising as easily as I am. He has also ordered an echocardiogram and and mri. Will probably going to the pain clinic for the pain in my lower back. I have to get back to doing what I can in the kitchen God bless Mon, 19 May 2014 19:21:13 EST Sunday Today has been very eventful. Paulina, and the two boys were over. Jr. mowed both the front and back yard. There is still trimming to be done, but that is something I can handle.
Michael and his family were also here. He got the one storage shed fixed for me. It took him about two minutes Sent a bunch of stuff home with each of them. Gotsome potting soil mixed up. Took some topsoil, potting soil and perlite and mixed it and filled the hanging planters for the patio. Broke the han... Sun, 18 May 2014 19:24:42 EST Hospice in place Today should be a little more restful than yesterday. I before I go any further want to thank everyone for their support and love during this time. The hospital bed was delivered and set up in the middle of the living room. The two grand daughters came over and helped me move furniture around so we could put the bed where Jeff wanted it. Hospice acame and Jeff did all the paperwork for it.
I have been sleeping on the floor in the living room ever since Jeff started on the oxygen. ... Sat, 17 May 2014 07:50:48 EST Friday news not favorable Yesterday Jeff was checked out and was told that there are no options of treatment left. He is going to be working with Hospice. Everything is being put in place today. A hospital bed with a special mattress is being delivered and also a bedside table. There will be a meeting this afternoon to determine how much time he is going to need someone besides me.
I had never gotten the glue off the kitchen floor and no matter how I tried to clean it it still looked really dirty so when I we... Fri, 16 May 2014 09:30:07 EST rain rain and more rain Monday night I made a couple of phone calls to see about getting a wheel chair for Jeff so that I can get him out of the house into the back yard when the weather gets a little nicer again. One was delivered to us last night. THen I heard about an auction that was coming up and I asked if there might be a hospital bed in it. I know that the lady who passed away had been down for quite some time but didn't know if she used that kind of bed or not. To make a long story short, I have one th... Wed, 14 May 2014 20:53:29 EST Monday This has been quite a productive day. I got the back yard mowed. and took the chicken house apart and burned all the wood. It took me all day but there is a world of difference in the way the yard looks. Now if the weather works with me this week, I will be tilling, raking and planting more grass seed.
This is short, but wanted to check in and say "God bless" Mon, 12 May 2014 19:24:44 EST Howdy Just stopping in to say Howdy and God bless. Sat, 10 May 2014 17:49:47 EST Rainy day (Thank the Lord) It is raining out today and we were getting to the point to where we really needed it. The farmers were seeing a lot of their topsoil going with the wind as they were ploughing and planting. It looked like a dust storm.
Yesterday I got back to the center just as Jeff was finishing his treatment. I never even got a chance to catch my second wind before it was time to load him up and bring him home. Got him in and carried in my purchases. Settled him in with all he needed and after p... Fri, 9 May 2014 09:34:12 EST Just a few Just a few minutes before I have to put on my shoes and socks and get Jeff out for chemo. While he is there today, I will be taking my list and going to Walmart. Have just a few things to get. Since he will be there about four hours I wll do the shoppin and go back and do some crocheting . May take my honey do list along and revise it. I am not getting as uch done each day as I would like to. The spirit is strong but the body is weak which means that My list for a day never quite gets a... Thu, 8 May 2014 09:58:32 EST Not much done so far today I have been lazy since we got back from the center. Yesterday Jeff actually saw the dr in charge of radiation and the nurses made sure that I knew when that was going on. I know Jeff does not like for me to see the dr with him as I ask too many questions and tell on him when he does things I know he probably shouldn't. I saw the two areas that the are radiating for the tumors. Had some of my questions about the breathing addressed. Also told the dr that Jeff is taking some of my medicati... Tue, 6 May 2014 18:52:04 EST Update on progress Before I get ready to take to the center, I thought I would go through and at least keep up my streak on logging in. I do have pain in my foot the dr has diagnosed arthritis in the instep area. I got a shot for in January and in the last month it has gotten progressively more painful to walk. The shot lasted almost four months. It is a steroid shot that goes int he top of the foot and I dread it.
Yesterday was a very restful day. Jeff's folks came for a few hours visit. Steve was b... Mon, 5 May 2014 12:41:04 EST EARLY Sunday Slept for a while and my foot was hurting so I got back up and am just about ready to take another pain pill and head back to bed
Haven't had a lot of free time to blog for a few days. We have taken two truck loads of things over to Michaels yesterday and now I am tilling up areas and transplanting things. Jeff's fols are coming for a short visit tomorrow so have also been trying to catch up a little on the what needs to be done in the house and waiting hand and foot on Jeff. It is a ... Sun, 4 May 2014 05:05:43 EST Tuesday Jeff has been practicing walking so this afternoon when we have to go for radiation he will be able to walk to the truck. I will pull it up to the front door as much as I can. We won't transfer the oxygen from the machine to the tank until he is situated in the truck and breathing ok. While he is in being taken care of I am going to run on into town and get gas and do a few other things as once we get back home I will not feel safe leaving him alone while I go do stuff.
We talked it... Tue, 29 Apr 2014 11:49:20 EST Hospital Got up this morning and was psyched up to take Jeff for radiation. He could not walk and still breathe so it was a trip to the ER. They did all kinds of tests and still have not determined exactly why his breathing has gone down hill so fast. Any way they put him on O2
gave him radiation treatment then had him walk while monitoring his oxygen level. It went down to 55. They did not let him leave with out a tank of oxygen and we had more delivered after we got home. We were at the h... Mon, 28 Apr 2014 19:49:01 EST Sunday rain coming I am hearing the rumble of thunder. It started sprinkling when I was out earlier. Yesterday the eldest grandson came over and has helped me do all kinds of things. The yard is mowed. a bunch more stuff picked up. The storage shed is finished except for the areas that I can reach and do. Will get them done between raindrops this wee. Jr. spent the night and today we loaded up the chickens and ducks, three doors, feed, and I am not sure what else and took them to Michael. After we got ba... Sun, 27 Apr 2014 15:37:24 EST new report on Jeff Jeff took himself out for chemo this morninig, but wound up not having the chemo.. Yesterday evening he had what I call (for a better word) a seizure. He actually did report it and the dr. ordered a cat, ct, and mri, to be done. they found two small tumors in the brain. One had swelling around it and is what was causing the episodes. Any way he is to have ten more radiation treatments one a day . That means we will be going to the center every day til this round is done and where after t... Thu, 24 Apr 2014 17:30:22 EST chicken house ready We got the chicken house ready for the birds and will probably be trying to take them over ON Tursday if Jeff does not need me to drive him to chemo. Got a couple of pots of after Easter tulips and got them planted. Also planted more holly hock roots and some calla lilies. Probably would not have gotten the lilies if I would have read on the package that they are annuals.
Time to get some other things done
God bless Tue, 22 Apr 2014 20:57:19 EST Waiting I am getting things done here and then will make a few phone calls and get this day on the road. Need to find out when Michael goes to the dr and then I will make my plans. Don't know exactly what I am going to do to because my plans depend on my son and I have not heard from him yet. Keep him in your prayers there are some issues going on with him that I am not able to help him with for advice or moral support. I pray the Lord gives me the right words and lots of guidance Tue, 22 Apr 2014 12:14:05 EST Hopefully some rain If we do not get a good soaking rain today I will have to water tomorrow. I transplanted a bunch of plants this morning and planted okra seeds and four oclock seeds, I am worn out already but am going to work some more on the kitchen floor and crochet until I get ready for bed. Was going to Michaels and start cleaning out his big chicken house but am not going to go over there and then get rained on. I will go tomorrow and then again later in the week to take the chickens and ducks over ... Mon, 21 Apr 2014 15:34:21 EST Happy Easter The bunny has been to our house and this afternoon he is bringing a flat screen TV. Our other one went out on us so it is time for a new one. It will not be a big screen but big enough for us.
The feeding is done, a lilac bush is planted, a peony bush has been dug and is waiting to be put back in the ground and I have the cupcakes decorated and boxed to take this afternoon. I was going to decorate the cupcakes last night but while I was waiting for them to cool I decided to crochet ... Sun, 20 Apr 2014 12:17:18 EST Beuatiful Day Yes it was a beautiful day but not quite long enough. Michael did not get over here as early as he wanted to, as his wife had to go mushroom hunting. Once she got back he came and the two of us got busy. We did not take too many breaks and even when we got out of the sun and got something to do, we were separating screw, bolts and nuts. The storage shed is up. We have the roof on but still have to put on the part that goes over where the roof sides meet, the rain gutters on each side, an... Sat, 19 Apr 2014 23:37:09 EST Busy Yesterday and today have been absolutley beautiful days. Have gotten a lot done. Tomorrow Michael is coming over and the two of us are going to put up the storage shed. I will be working on the kitchen floor for a while tonight. Still am having trouble getting the glue up. Have a solvent soaking on a section now to see what it will do. Have some flowers that will need to be transplanted tomorrow before we start on the shed. I transplanted a peony a little while ago and never knew that... Fri, 18 Apr 2014 18:38:19 EST Quick Note Just a quick howdy before I get started in. Jeff just left for his chemo treatment. He will be back in about three hours. I am getting read to run the sweeper where I am going to run it to I am not sure yet, but it will be a slow run. If it goes too fast I won't be able to keep up with it. Want to wash a load of clothes and hang them out. Have meat in the crock pot so that if I get too busy outside this afternoon, it won't be hard to throw some mac and cheese or whatever else I can thin... Thu, 17 Apr 2014 10:36:20 EST No shed yet The wind was too strong last Sunday to get the shed put up, we are shooting for this next Saturday. Once that is done it will be on to other projects. I know I want to get a privacy fence put up on the north side of the yard. I just have to figure out how far I want it to towards the front of the house. I have been toying with the idea of taking it to the north west corner but am not really positive about that yet. When I am ready to do it I will get the plans firmed up and then get it ... Tue, 15 Apr 2014 14:39:43 EST On my knees Have spent I don't know how many hours so far taking up tile and attempting to get up the glue residue. When I put the tiles down a number of years ago some of them did not stay down as they should have. I have played with the idea of taking them up because I still have the original flooring under them. Yesterday when I was cleaning the floor there were areas I could not get and that were what I would call grimy so out came the putty knife and on the floor I went. Some of the tiles come u...
