Sat, 25 Oct 2014 18:48:27 EST Weekend in Quebec http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5785465 I've returned from my weekend away. I managed to exercise for an hour for 3 of the 4 days of the BLC26 weekend challenge and got 119 points with one of the 25 point bonuses for doing part of the fit test. The only part I didn't do was the 1 mile walk because even though I walked 3 out of 4 days, the road was quite hilly so I didn't think it was a good indicator for the fit test.

I think I even managed to eat pretty well overall. Sun, 19 Jan 2014 15:35:46 EST Are Weekend Treats Sabotaging My Weight Loss? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5598067 For this weekend's BLC challenge, we're supposed to identify and eliminate something that might be holding us back from our goals. Other than my RA and OA, I figure the culprit must be food-related since I exercise most days of the week.

So, I always figure that a food treat on the weekend is something that's nice to have. I don't typically treat myself through the week so I'm thinking the weekend treat is two-fold. One is that it's something I don't usually eat through the week... Sat, 18 Jan 2014 14:05:08 EST ChaLean Extreme - Day 7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5593880 Today was Burn It Off. First off, I've gotta say that I loved this workout overall. It was a cardio workout incorporating lots of ST moves. The main thing that I didn't like about it was that it was too short. It was only half an hour. I know that I was supposed to do the Recharge workout after it but honestly, I was all revved up and yoga was the last thing I was in the mood for so the plan is to do it tomorrow, which is theoretically a rest day and then I start the whole thing again. <... Tue, 14 Jan 2014 18:56:03 EST ChaLean Extreme - Day 6 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5591913 I've gotta say that this burn circuit (3) is my least favourite one for 3 reasons:

1. It was hard on my knees and shoulders, my two weakest body parts

2. I didn't get the calorie burn that I got with the other two.

3. There was a lot of repetition (overhead press twice, lateral raises twice, etc.)

That said, here are the exercises with the weight I used and how many reps I could do:

1. Sumo Squat w/Overhead Press - 5 lbs, 12 reps
... Mon, 13 Jan 2014 05:42:10 EST ChaLean Extreme - Ab Burner http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5591215 So, today was Day 5 of the ChaLean Program and I decided to start with a cardio-based ab-focused workout first and then do ChaLean's Ab Burner. The cardio-based ab-focused workout I chose was Gilad's Abs on Fire and then instead of doing his cool-down, I loaded up ChaLean's workout, got out my exercise mat and got ready.

The workout started with a moving cat/cow stretch which you were supposed to do on your hands and knees. Sun, 12 Jan 2014 12:58:15 EST ChaLean Extreme Program - Day 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5590262 This new program is going slowly as my knees and shoulders are kicking up a fuss but I'm still plugging along but I'm thinking I'm going to revamp the workout schedule to suit my needs somewhat. Perhaps as I go along, it will get easier and by the time I start the Push phase, I'll be able to do the workouts as scheduled.

This morning, I did Burn Intervals which according to the schedule is my Day 4 (including the Day 2 rest day). Initially, I wasn't going to take the rest day and was going to do some light cardio but my shoulders were screaming with achiness during the night so I decided to not push it.

However, today was Burn Circuit 2 and I've gotta say, it felt a lot harder to me than Burn Circuit 1 did.

First of all, I think it felt harder because I felt that I was making better weights' decisions. Some of it was tough and some not so much. Here are the exercises I did with the dumbbell weight, number of reps and comments:

1. Sumo Squat w/Hip Lift - 15 lbs, 8 reps - much too heavy. Chalene says if you can't do a minimum of 10 reps, go lighter.

2. Lunge w/Posterior Fly - 5 lbs, 12 reps - did 12 reps per side and found that 5 lbs was too light on the right but was fine on t... Sun, 2 Jun 2013 12:41:51 EST A Day of Shopping http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5350933 Good morning, friends.

I'm on vacation yesterday, today and tomorrow and my plan for yesterday was to exercise with a DVD, hike with DH and then do some yard work.

My To Do List for the week included doing some shopping as well (shorts for around the house, patio chair cushions, toiletries, meds, etc.) but the only day it was calling for a rainy day, which is the perfect day for shopping IMO was Friday and Friday, I have a hair appointment in the morning and a pedicure a... Thu, 9 May 2013 11:55:23 EST What's on my mind... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5282055 For this weekend's challenge, we're supposed to post a blog about whatever. I'm not very good at whatever; I'd much rather have the "powers that be" give me a topic to blog about, like when we were in school and had to write an essay.

So, what I'm going blog about today is that I love being part of the Amazon Warrior team for the second round of BLC challenges but I wish that so many of the veteran members weren't struggling so much and I wish that other than being there for them ... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 05:49:54 EST My Vacation in Belize http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5247775 I’ve returned from Belize and I had a wonderful time. The pool was the best thing about the place as it was approximately 270 feet wide. I figured out early on that it took me 10 minutes to do 4 laps so every day, I tried to do at least 12 laps altogether. I could probably have done more than 4 laps at a time but I just didn’t have the interest to do more than that at one time.

Pool view showing the width ... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 12:52:33 EST Weekend Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5236065 So, I'm supposed to do a blog for the WC. Since I'm trying to do everything on it except for the items that you have to do all 4 days (I'm traveling tomorrow so drinking 8 cups of water, tracking food for all 4 days, no snacking after 8 p.m. may not be doable for all 4 days). And, this blog is the last item on that list.

So, I'm flying to Belize tomorrow morning at 6:20 a.m. and my plan for staying on track is:

- exercise for a minimum of 1 hour every day
- indulg... Sun, 3 Feb 2013 18:24:16 EST How My Life Will Change When I Reach My Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5225659 This second blog is also for the BLC weekend challenge.

Before I joined BLC20, I honestly never thought I would reach my weight loss goal. I started at 264 in 1998 and have been trying since then to lose weight. I must admit that after 2004 when I got RA, I kind of stalled out on the trying thing because I was in so much pain that exercise got booted to the curb and eating healthily wasn't high on my priorities when high fat food was way more comforting.

That said, in ... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 13:53:06 EST Forgive a Regret & Write About It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5225448 I have my fair share of regrets but I must admit that I haven't held onto them. Life is about moving forward and not dwelling in the past. But, this is part of the BLC Weekend Challenge so I will put down one of my biggest regrets.

My biggest regret is that I stopped exercising when I got married. Before DH and I married, I weighed 130 pounds and to maintain that weight, I walked everywhere. I lived out in the country where a bus only went by our house once every 2 hours and on... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 10:33:49 EST Overcoming Obstacles http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5214497 The weekend challenge for BLC21 includes just doing something that you perceive to be impossible because of obstacles, that is:

D: DECIDE to just DO IT. Have a break-through this weekend. Attack anything that has been holding you back. It could be something you fear. Maybe something that makes you feel silly. Something that you think you can't do. Have you told yourself that you're too old/heavy/out of shape to do something? Maybe you've been putting something off for tomorrow, and... Sat, 19 Jan 2013 16:03:13 EST WC - Food & Fitness Tracking - Day 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5195516 Today's CICO:

Calories
Eaten 1,448
BMR* 1,982
Exercise 383
Total Burned 2,365
Differential -917

Mondays are always a better day for tracking food and eating properly. I have set meals that I make regularly for each meal Monday to Friday and it's easy to plan and prepare for.

And, where Mondays are typically better food-wise, they're not always better exercise-wise since on a day by day ... We had a nice chat about my first week back to work and his tri... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 18:16:20 EST
