Mon, 12 Aug 2013 08:36:57 EST Our new Man-of-the-Barn??? photos of our possible new breeding stallion and our mares. We may have found our new Man-of-the-Barn yesterday!!! Geronimo is a very handsome, bay (homozygus) tobiano, 15.2hh, 8 year old paint x percheron cross stallion who is green broke to ride and drive and has several beautiful and correct babies on the ground already. His temperament is so great that I wish my lesson horses were as calm and gentle as he!!!

Although we have several broodmares, most ride as ... Tue, 11 Jun 2013 08:49:00 EST Summer Break, Here We Come!!! Today is the start of my child's first summer break living with me. Usually he stays with his dad for the summer but now that he is getting divorced there is no one to stay with C. Kiddo is happy that its raining this morning though as he is getting to spend his first official day off from school camped out watching cartoons and recovering from a weekend long Boy Scout camping trip instead of working for mom in the barns. I figured why hire in a teenage girl to muck stalls for the summer and ... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 09:35:19 EST Tired of $ trouble! So we stretched our budget when we stumbled upon Diesel so we could bring him into the farm using up most of our "safety net" funds but now that Annie has gotten hurt and her medical expenses are piling up things are getting really really tight! I just wish we could catch a break and get a step forward without life kicking me! Sat, 8 Jun 2013 07:01:44 EST Doctor says I'm healthy as my horses! I had my first physical at the Doctors in years and just as I told my whole family, I'm healthy as my horses!

First of all family history has heart problems, diabetes, thyroid issues and history of stroke and heart attack, etc... I'm already known to be Vitamin D deficient with my last reading being a 17 up from a low of 10! AND I forgot I had Labs that morning so I had chugged down my 2 normal cups of coffee with creamer and sugar stopping only 15 minutes before the appointment w... Fri, 7 Jun 2013 07:05:35 EST DARN HORSES! "Orphan Annie" wounded again!!! (icky pics) Apparently our Orphan Annie didn't figure out the new fence even through it is a 5 foot high 3 strand high tensile with 2 strands of 1" gold and black poly tape sight cord WITH bright pink ribbons 6 inches long every 4 feet!!! Darn horse tried to RUN straight through the fence last night and is all sliced up! We have had this mare for 13 years now and have yet to be able to use her for lessons because she is always either lame, injured or sick! I love the poor dear who was orphaned at 2 weeks... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 07:42:24 EST Beginning of June and busy as a bee!!! I'm a little rambly today as I've got a ton to do and no energy to do it with after being sick for a week now!

Diesel (focus of my last Blog at
ournal_individual.asp?blog_id=5369063) arrived home last night and seems to have settled in great though he's a bit lonely being kept in the outdoor arena with no buddies yet. Planning to put him and Max together for a day or two then incorporating them in with 2 of our TB geldings later this we... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 08:28:03 EST Our new boy Diesel will be coming home soon! (pics and video link) So excited to announce that Diesel will be joining our farm! Diesel is a 14 year old, 16 hh, Percheron gelding who has been a trail / husband horse most of his life. He is a big beautiful boy with a gentle heart and curious mind... just the right fit for what we needed! He will need a bit of a tune up on a few things like not really wanting to canter since he hasn't been ridden much since fall and he will need some training on specific things for therapy classes but I would have let any of my... Mon, 27 May 2013 08:25:24 EST Going to look at a new horse today! Our yard / tack sale fundraiser went pretty well yesterday raising $120 for the farm. Would have been nice to have sold more but it will cover our grain costs for 4 days (we feed 125 lbs a day at $25 per 100 lbs).

Going to look at a potential therapy horse this afternoon.

14 year old, 16 hh percheron gelding. Sun, 26 May 2013 07:14:53 EST Feeling fat, ugly and useless today! Feeling fat, ugly and useless today... I don't do well with having time off from work (very physical when caring for a farm of 36 horses, teaching lessons and training horses all day) and two rainy days of only doing basic chores has me feeling icky, fat and ugly!!! I really wanna go to the gym but we suspended our membership since I never had time to go once the snow went away!

Thu, 23 May 2013 08:36:50 EST New photo of me!

New photo was taken yesterday, May 15, 2013, during a special needs class by one of the volunteers, I'm in the black shirt at 180 lbs. Sorry that I haven't had a chance to be online since last Wednesday, been a busy, busy last few days!

Thursday was our Field Trip to Greenfield Village which was a great day spent with the kiddo though he wasn't really into the history he did love getting to ride the train, Model T cars and carriage rides all over the park. I was up at 4 am to get horses hayed before leaving and after I got home about 7 pm hubby had picked up some round bales so we put those out for the cold weeken... Mon, 13 May 2013 07:49:39 EST Doctor appointment for me yesterday. Specialist for the boy Friday My Doctor appointment went well yesterday. It was just a meet a greet with the new doctor with a full physical in a few weeks but overall she saw no concerns other than determining that what I thought might be blood pressure issues when over stressed was actually anxiety attacks and she is suggesting that I keep track of how often they occur between now and my next appointment to determine if and what kind of meds would be appropriate. I don't really want to go on meds but when I talked to my... Tue, 7 May 2013 06:49:26 EST Summer helpers at the farm :) I'm not sure I can keep up with my own schedule this week! Its exhausting just thinking about how much running I have to do... I am getting excited for summer though :) One of my students was planning on working for me two days a week this summer as a "groom" of sorts so I can spend more of my time in the saddle on the horses in training rather than the spending it all catching, grooming, clipping, bathing, saddling, and putting them back up after the training session etc which I swear takes ... Mon, 6 May 2013 06:39:46 EST Back to work... If I want to reach my goals I have to get to work in my job, my life and my weight. Its not going to happen on its own! So today I promise to my self to do better!!!

Fri, 3 May 2013 06:06:45 EST Bittersweet day at the farm, RIP Lilly and Yeah for Noah!!! Somedays I love my job, some I hate it, yesterday I did both...

An average day is filled with the little hiccups like yesterday morning getting a little crazy when a van load of new students arrived 45 minutes early while we were still setting things up and catching horses but after a quick scramble we were back on track and it jump started us so we ended up getting a ton of extra work done. Or the little highs like watching the a student's excitement as they do their first leg yie... Thu, 2 May 2013 10:21:42 EST The official start of my "Diet" / May Goals / Long term goals Unintentionally I timed my signing up for a new start on Spark to have me through my Fast Break into the actual "Diet" on May 1. Being that I LOVE things to be organized, neat and tidy just knowing that this is the date I really begin makes me already feel motivated.

Anyway... First week of my Fast Break I just worked on getting back in the swing or paying attention to what I eat and do and recording things. Week 2 I started to actually "try" to do a little better on a few habits l... Wed, 1 May 2013 07:32:31 EST Not much to say... just that its RAINING AGAIN!!! Was looking forward to a near 80 degree day today perfect for FINALLY holding riding lessons in our pretty new arena... Looking like that may not happen after the down pour, thunder and lightning that has been going on the past 2 hours though!!! Tue, 30 Apr 2013 07:34:35 EST Ex-husbands reaction to this weekend... My Ex's reaction was so funny! He had to try to be best buddy buddy with my hubby (who can barely stand being within sight of the man) He kept trying to get the kids to talk with him and none of the 3 were all that interested... LOVED IT!!!

I'm such a bad person 211 Mon, 29 Apr 2013 06:41:26 EST Beautiful Saturday... with my ex-husbands soon to be ex-wife??? I know... sounds crazy doesn't it? Spending a great Saturday, and will be doing the same today, with my ex-husband's soon to be ex-wife, who is the woman he (supposedly) started dating 2 weeks after we separated, and her 2 boys, his step-sons. Anyway, she is actually a very nice person and has started college since they split up and is doing volunteer work trying to build up a resume so she comes out to the farm when we are doing building projects (she's very handy with the tools where as I'm... Sun, 28 Apr 2013 07:37:33 EST Doctors, Specialists, PT's and Chiropractors.... all for my baby :( FINALLY got a doctor to listen and acknowledge that my son has some different issues with his feet and ankles and that having him go all these years with no help has led to leg and back issues, even migraine headaches!!! So anyway, Monday was the Doctor appointment where we were referred to a Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist or something of the sort and to a Physical Therapist. Yesterday was the first visit to the PT who said that yes they agreed he needed a lot of treatment as he uses many wr... Fri, 26 Apr 2013 06:42:18 EST Exhausted just thinking about the rest of my week/weekend plans! My schedule is looking pretty exhausting for the rest of this week and I'm just hoping I survive it all LOL!

My kiddo has a physical therapy appointment tomorrow before school for his leg/back pain and headaches and has a camping trip Friday to Saturday and a visit to his dad's on Sunday.

I've got lessons scheduled from 10 to 1 and 4:30 to 8:30 today but with weather as it is I may have to cancel as they are calling for 30+ mph winds and 20 degree wind chills again today... Wed, 24 Apr 2013 07:03:19 EST The weather is promising... Weather is looking very promising for us to FINALLY start lessons today which is only 3 weeks late for the season! Its calling for rain but as of right now things are looking good... Fingers crossed since I need to scrape together $250 extra dollars by the 10th for my son to go to boy scout camp this summer and without my lessons I have no extra past bills. Also need some nice weather as one of my geldings has came down with a bug that he can't seem to kick. He's older and not in the best of ... Tue, 23 Apr 2013 07:20:46 EST Owie! My back is killing me! Not sure why but my back has been killing me the past couple days! I know I've got arthritis and nerve damage that the doctor refered to as "cumulative damage from repetitive concussive injury" also known by horseback riders as you've fallen off one too many times!!! Because of this my entire spine will stiffen up and some other very odd symptoms will present in humidity which with this much water around I'm sure the humidity is high. I'm mostly fine when I'm up and moving or when I'm in bed ... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 08:46:26 EST Busy week... I hope! Gearing up for a busy week... I hope!!!

Weather has been a bit of an issue around the farm this spring, which can be seen in photos on a previous blog of mine! Fingers crossed things continue to dry out as they have been and we will FINALLY be able to hold the first of our riding lessons for the season only 3 weeks behind schedule! Today is supposed to be a nice sunny day so we are going to try to finish off some of the prep work we hadn't been able to do before because of weather ... Sun, 21 Apr 2013 09:35:55 EST Lucky Girl... Feeling like a lucky girl today! My husband is home from work (doesn't happen most Saturdays) and my mother, whom we live with, is away for the morning... There is always a lot of tension when we are all home and its nice to sit here with my coffee in my PJ's with my hubby and my dogs having a peaceful start to our morning. Sat, 20 Apr 2013 08:34:16 EST The "SHARK" who came to visit the farm and other flood photos. I live in West Michigan which happens to be underwater at the moment with horrible flooding... Photos here were taken yesterday 4/18/13.

My farm is home to 37 horses, 28 of whom were "previously unwanted" (rescues but I don't like that word!) and has been the host facility for a therapeutic riding center for the past 20 years as well as our rescue work and traditional lesson and training program. We usually have about 100 different people a week at the farm Monday - Thursday, some... Fri, 19 Apr 2013 07:57:59 EST Found a recent photo... Yesterday I couldn't figure out when I might have last had a photo taken with me in it then i remembered a friend taking a photo when my son crossed over from cub scouts to boy scouts back in mid-March so here it is

Note the bulky oversized sweater and my hiding behind him... this is not me!

Did well tracking and recording everything yesterday and my goal for today is simple... eat SOMETHING ... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 07:39:27 EST Fresh start to be the me I want to be! The last few months have been a struggle which has led to me falling back into all the bad habits I thought I had broken. Under my previous name of Beyond-fences I've been struggling to get back on track for the last couple weeks and just couldn't seem to get in the groove, instead I kept focusing on where I had been instead of where I am now and what I need to do to get back on track so I decided to shed all that and start fresh again.

I haven't gotten any new photos of me recentl...
