We were just getting started when there were 2 bucks just grazing away by the road. Then we passed 2 huge turkeys. A bit farther along there was another turkey. We rode around the loop and enjoye... Sat, 13 May 2017 23:42:48 EST Great Smokey Mountains, day 1 We have been planning to head back to the Smokey Mountains to ride around Cades Cove and do some hiking for some time now. So we decided to do it before the grands get out for summer and we get really busy. Monday we drove to Townsend, TN and stayed at the Tremont Lodge and Resort. It wasn't anything fancy, but suited us. Tues day we woke up, ate our usual breakfast, then headed for our first hike, the Little River Trail.

<img src=" Fri, 12 May 2017 22:27:37 EST April Fools on the farm. Sat, 1 Apr 2017 22:55:51 EST 2006 Gulf Shores Adventure Last week was the last full week before school starts, and our traditional beach trip. DD and the boys decided to go in her car instead of squeezing into the truck with us. So Monday I took the fur babies to their hotel, then we hooked up the camper, gathered DD and her boys and off we went. About 40 miles before arriving we heard a "poof" and a minute later saw a big black chunk of tire fly off the camper. Yup, that.
<img src=" Sun, 7 Aug 2016 22:56:45 EST Huntsville trip. A short ride through town and over the bridge (I don't do bridges well) and we were back on the trail. Last weekend DH and I hosted the Alabama Tandem Weekend in our little home town. There isn't a lot going on, but we came up with some nice rides and a few activities. I had to work Wed, but we had a ride with friends planned for Thursday morning. So when one of the couples came in early and ask if there was anywhere to ride, we just invited them to join us. The ride was great, lovely weather, good roads, little traffic, then... Fri, 30 Mar 2012 21:08:14 EST Tandem Quilt My DH and I will be hosting the Alabama Tandem Weekend March 23-25. The previous hosts had made some beautiful Adirondack chairs as a prize for a trivia game, and we wanted to continue the tradition. DH has worked so very hard on the arrangements, and I can't build chairs, so I decided to make a quilt. It has gone through several versions, but I have finally finished it.

It is a full size, and the pattern is Jewel Box. I made the top completely with pieces from my scrap box ... Tue, 28 Feb 2012 23:24:45 EST On the trail again! Yesterday the physical therapist gave me my walking papers. YIPPEE! Still supposed to avoid riding up big hills, but otherwise, if it don't hurt I can do it. So we took the bikes up to the Chief Ladiga trail and went for a ride. It was WINDY!!! Only did 21 miles, and the knee did good, but was a bit sore this morning.

Today we took the dog for a short hike on our mountain bike trail. Tue, 1 Nov 2011 21:54:12 EST First day of PT and some kayak pics Had my first physical therapy today, and survived! It felt so good to get those big bulky bandages off and have some fresh air on my leg. They put me through some stretching and strengthening exercises to do twice a day, iced it, re-wrapped it, and sent me on my way. She thinks I will be able to do the bike ride next week if I ride the tandem and put the flat pedals back on. The rides are short and flat, so not much pressure on the knee. I can drive as long as it isn't a stick shift, do ... Mon, 24 Oct 2011 16:54:22 EST Waiting on therapy Well, here I am on the first full day after surgery. Don't know how my knee looks, can't unwrap it till I go to physical therapy on Monday. So far so good. I can get around slowly with no crutches today, and surprisingly, there is very little pain. Nothing just the ice pack can't handle. I'm sure that will change after therapy.

I can't wait to get back on my bike.

Life is good Sat, 22 Oct 2011 20:49:38 EST Thursday - Sunday Fun at Camp Cheerio, then going home. As I was driving down the street I saw a big plume of very black smoke rising from towards town, and thought it was odd for the forest service to be doing a prescribed burn now. As I kept driving I realized it wasn't the forest service, it was IN town. As I kept driving I realized I would have to drive right by it. Seems lighteni...
