They are so varied and interesting. Everything from the environment and world population to bread baking. Truly a great resource. Last night I hit upon a speaker that I had not heard before. He is a writer for Esquire and also a book author. For the past several years he has chosen a year long project to write a book about. The first year was reading the whole Encyclopedia, the next living literally according to the Bible (I have ordered that book) and this past year ... My friend who is a personal trainer says the best way to lose weight is to cut out fats (and exercise your butt off). Various "experts" say cut out carbs, reduce High Fructose Corn Syrup, remove soda, don't eat after dinner, eat small portions, use a small plate, eat whole grains, eat berries, love kale etc etc. I wish head spinning counted as exercise!

Now there is a cardiologist who is saying that wheat - whether whole or refined - is lik... Those words, Pig and Fish, Feet and Fork were about habits and behavior. What about words that are about emotions or self-worth. How can we filter all of these words to allow the positive in and keep the negative out?

Well I read two things on spark yesterday that made me think more about this. Andi said that she began thinking about all of the buzzwords around her includi... We had fun riding bikes on a windy day and exploring the local small town. We stopped while biking at a little place for lunch called the Pig and Fish. Nice place, good food, puzzling name. I thought that maybe it meant meat and seafood on the menu. But what was written on the the walls was - Eat like a Pig, Drink like a Fish.

Now Joe and I want to lose weight and so does the other couple. But we knowingl... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 09:22:53 EST I have a Plan! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4645022 Some of you know me from my previous Spark life as Marenamoo. I joined spark in 2008 - never did a thing with it until a big snowstorm in February 2010 when I made up my mind to just try something, anything really, to reclaim not just some old clothes but also some control over my middle-aged life. Spark was great. Fabulous really. I made some wonderful friends - one of whom was responsible for bringing me back to spark (thanks Barb!!). Friends who shared the same cycle of wanting to do somet... Fri, 30 Dec 2011 13:58:39 EST Trying to find a road that doesn't lead back to weight gain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4201952 I have enthusiastically lost weight before thinking this is it - I finally have the magic tools. I have - over the years - lost weight with a nutrition person, a fitness nazi, lots of activities, no carb, low carb, even recently I have lost 35 pounds with spark. Each time I have gained back the weight and then some. I have crept up over the years feeling fat at 140, 150, 155, 160, 165, 170 and the last time - 180. Now I would love to feel fat at 140!

When each attempt failed I f... Sun, 1 May 2011 10:06:22 EST
