As many of you know I'm living overseas right now so I woke up to an email from my Mom asking if I knew I had been featured in People Magazine again. Well, no I sure didn't. I had been interviewed a few months back and told they would let me know if my information was to be included. These opportunities come up every now of then, some of them happen and some of them don't. You never can tell what publishers needs. So I didn't think anything else about it. So if you are at new... Fri, 30 May 2014 08:06:28 EST Why I'm breaking up with the stop watch So I've always wanted to be a runner. I want to fall in love with running. I want to be that girl that has a bad day or is stressed out and instead of stuffing her face with oreos she goes for a 5 mile run. Yea…… still not that girl. First problem is my lungs suck, between childhood asthma and being overweight for so long they just don't like it. I can take a zumba class, a spin class, and go to body pump back to back and be fine, but ask me to run 3 miles and I want to die. It is ironic beca... Mon, 17 Feb 2014 02:03:58 EST Killer Valentine's Day Workout So 3 rounds for this one.

3 min spin on the bike
20 wall ball shots
20 kettle bell swings
7 pull ups
20 medicine ball slams

1minute rest in between each set Fri, 14 Feb 2014 10:36:19 EST Today's Work Out 2/10/14 So I've been messaged a couple times about what a work out looks like for me so I figured I would just blog it and let everyone see. Right now I'm coming off a pretty rough hip injury so there is not running at the moment or a ton of legs. So remember this is just a suggestion, always consult a physician before you start working out, and work to your ability.

So I did 5 rounds, you can tailor this to how many you can do or feel up to. One round consists of

20 punches o... Mon, 10 Feb 2014 04:37:56 EST Hello Hello Ok so I haven't blogged in forever! Life got crazy and I mean crazy! So after a year of being a single Mom due to my wonderful hubby living not the other side of the world we have now joined him and currently living in the UAE. This has been quite an amazing and sometimes over whelming transition. I'm back working on my over all fitness, trying to get back to my crazy gym buff self since I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a SAHM now that we are here and settled in. Only down fall,... Wed, 22 Jan 2014 01:59:35 EST 5k Update So it has taken me a while to post this but I had my first 5k in 3 years last week. Woke up to a cold rain. It is May in NC… I mean really 55 and rain? So unlike us for May, but anyways. I was already having a moment since my first 5k my guy ran with me every step of the way. Even though he probably could have tore away from me and won his age division. He stayed with me every step coaching and pushing me through it. So I was nervous to do one without him. So race day comes. Due to the rain I... Wed, 8 May 2013 20:22:53 EST Why I love this picture Well first of all after several question and personal messages asking who my new super hero guy was. Ta da! Isn't he handsome? Anyways, he reminded me of this picture today and I had to share it. To remind everyone to enjoy the simple moments. There is a huge story behind this picture. The first time he ever threw me onto his back like that. I panicked. Like full out screaming and kicking and hitting the whole deal. It was not pretty and I'm pretty sure at that point he thought he was dating ... Mon, 6 May 2013 20:24:54 EST I love a good fight I must admit my new fitness addiction, is fighting my husband. Now before everyone panics let me explain. My husband loves brazilian jiu jitsu and mma style fighting in his spare time. I never really gave it much thought before, but after getting tired of being on the spin bike or on the treadmill I decided to let him put me through the paces and I was hooked. You burn a ton of calories, you get out of ton of frustration and so far we've only had a few mishaps that ended up with one of us hu... Sun, 5 May 2013 19:07:37 EST Yes it jiggles I have to say this blog will be reliving one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I am asked all the time about having extra skin, of course I have it, yes it is a problem. I try to look at it as some badge of honor, that I did this the right way, that I fought long and hard to loose this weight on my own. It isn't working. I hear girls say all the time their stretch marks from their pregnancies are their earned tiger stripes…. well my stripes aren't from my little cub, I was honest... Sat, 4 May 2013 19:02:04 EST OK now I'm even proud of myself Ok so if you have followed my blog you would know that the other day I was super proud of myself for running 2 miles without any walking. So today I hop on the treadmill. I would much rather be running outside, but it is 30 degrees outside and I didn't think the munchkin was going to want to be in the jogging stroller for that. Yes, my amazing 7 year old still fits in a jogging stroller, she is a peanut, and luckily blessed with a high metabolism and 12 hours a week in the gym for competitive... Thu, 24 Jan 2013 20:29:34 EST Kettle Bell Kool Aid Ok I'll admit it. I've drank the Kettle Bell Kool Aid. With my crazy schedule between my life and my daughters schedule my work outs in the gym are long gone and using a home gym. So "the man" has several kettle bells and loves them for work outs. And has used them to train his soldiers. So I reluctantly have used them, but I'm obsessed now. You can do anything with these things. Arms, legs, abs, they are awesome for such a total body work out. Tue, 22 Jan 2013 19:11:28 EST New Chicken Salad Addiction Ok guys, so I'm always on a time crunch and looking for a simple solution of something to eat. I saw this recipe for buffalo chicken egg rolls, but I deconstructed it for a super simple chicken salad. I took boiled chicken (3 pieces), a bag of cole slaw mix (leave the dressing out), hot sauce, 2 tbsp of light ranch, and half a package of blue cheese crumbles. Threw it all in the mixer let it mix up and shred together. Delicious. It was super good and I bet it would even be awesome on toasted ... Sun, 20 Jan 2013 20:23:27 EST Holy Fat Girl Lungs Ok so this is going to sound crazy to many, but today I ran two miles. No not a huge distance but let me explain why this is such a HUGE accomplishment to me. Ok back story for a minute. I've been fat since kindergarten, had asthma growing up, did everything under the sun to get out of gym. So I have NEVER been able to run. Then I lost all this weight, turned into a crazy gym buff and even still while training 4 hours a day in the gym, lifting, doing spin, other classes, doing cross fit. I co... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 20:31:28 EST Out of the dark This has been an interesting blog to decide to write. I have really taken some time off from writing about my weight and work outs etc. So here we go. I am back on spark people and back on working out again. Life kinda got in the way and then again I guess I got in the way too. Anyways long story short:

Got divorced
Moved back to NC
Had to go back to work ( I was blessed to be a SAHM after college), yeah hello real world 5 years later.
Found the man of my dr... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 20:24:01 EST First Magazine Hey everyone, please check out First Magazine this month (sept 6th through the 27th). I got the amazing opportunity to shoot and interview with them on the importance of including and eating carbs at the right time in your day. They shocked me with including a small picture of me on the cover. Check out the magazine there are lots of great tips and important info included. Sat, 4 Sep 2010 09:31:16 EST Fell off the wagon OK so yeah..... I fell off the wagon. I went from training for 3 hours a day to over a full week off. And the eating has been horrendous. I'm staying with my parents right now until i move in my place next weekend and I just kinda went nuts. I've not had junk food in my house in years now. So after my week of pure insanity. It is time to get back on the wagon. I have just noticed how much more sluggish I have felt this week and my mood has definitely been down. So back to hard core workout gi... Sat, 26 Jun 2010 23:27:33 EST Where I've been So my world has drastically changed in the last few weeks. I haven't been avoiding anyone or not answering you back. I just haven't been on in a while. I have moved back to NC and am now doing the single mom thing. So looking for a job and trying to get settled in have become the main focus so I haven't had much spark time. Just wanted to thank all my spark friends who have been checking on me. I'll hopefully be back on more now. I figure if I can make it through the stress of all this with o... Tue, 15 Jun 2010 11:31:44 EST Hit my Second Goal Well after a long awaited first goal met I decided to challenge myself to loose 5 more lbs. After it took me a year long plateau to get to 160 I really didn't think that 155 would happen so quickly but it did. I was 155 this morning on the scale, I think that is a pretty good Mother's Day gift.

So I was thinking possibly 149 as my next goal. Kind of scared to commit to that for some reason but we will see.
Sun, 9 May 2010 14:04:29 EST 5k completed So today was the day. After praying for a miraculous recovery my left leg was still pretty sore and bruised but there was no way I was not doing this race. I was like a kid at Christmas. I couldn't sleep last night and then I woke up early this morning. So I got to the race and the energy was just awesome. I started in the middle to end of the pack, no need to be upfront. I so got caught up in the whole everyone said to pace myself. Yeah I think I forgot that. At the first mile I came in righ... Sat, 24 Apr 2010 13:03:50 EST Running achievement. First of all sorry for being Mia this weekend we were out of town and then had no internet when we got back.

So today I ran a complete 5k. No walking, no slowing down! Now i know to some of you runners that seems ridiculously easy but for me it was the first time. I'm so excited. My first race is Saturday and I am so excited now. Tue, 20 Apr 2010 13:36:07 EST Ok now I need your help OK yes this is my shameless campaigning but it is for an amazing cause. I'm proud to be participating in the relay for life this year. I'm walking in honor of my dad who has miraculously beat cancer 3 times. Unfortunately I don't think I know anyone who has not had cancer of some type impact their lives whether it was a friend or family member. So please if you can check out my page. If all my spark friends even gave just a dollar you guys could help me reach my goal and we could all make an ... Thu, 15 Apr 2010 21:09:17 EST The Goal is Officially Changing Ok so with a wonderful surprise this morning I got on the scale for a mid week weigh in and saw 159.2 on the scale! I was so excited. I can not believe there was a 5 in that number. So the next goal will be to hit 155. Tue, 13 Apr 2010 13:43:41 EST Had to decorate my bodybugg

I had to do it. I wear it all the time. So I finally decorated my body bugg. LOL If you are wondering the bee is because all my friends call me B or some form of it instead of using Brandy. And the RNT well that is a gym joke, that all the trainers/friends at the gym said I should come with an asterisks above my head that says results not typical like they do on the diet commercials (although let me add that I do ... Sun, 11 Apr 2010 16:43:29 EST Hit My Goal Weight!!!! Wow Well as of this morning. I currently weigh 160lbs. I can honestly say the last 10lbs have been the hardest, I hit a plateau for almost a year in fact. So I am thrilled with all the progress over the last few months. I can see my body changing, getting stronger, getting muscle lines I didn't have before. When I went clothes shopping for spring/summer I fit in size 8 shorts/capris in every store. I don't know why but for some reason getting to that single digit was a goal for me. So I've lost ... Fri, 9 Apr 2010 14:56:12 EST If you like ice cream Ok so my friends/family can tell you I'm not a huge ice cream fan. Not exactly what I'd normally want to spend my calories on. However, I love klondike bars. Just a little preface to this blog.

I have been awarded lots of amazing opportunities from being featured in the People Magazine Half My Size issue. So it was to my delight when the people from the Popsicle/Klondike company sent me coupons to try some of their new low calorie products.

So as a family we tried seve... Wed, 7 Apr 2010 16:53:31 EST Soda So I used to be a major soda freak. I could go through a 2 a litter a day depending on what it was. So when i changed my lifestyle I gave the regular stuff up. I switched to diet. In time i decided to limit it to only when we were out to eat so a couple times a week. This January though is decided to completely give it up ........ That was until easter. I made the mistake of having diet soda with my lunch, 3 cups to be exact. Huge huge mistake. I was miserable. I seriously thought my st... Tue, 6 Apr 2010 13:28:18 EST Calorie Burn So about 2 months ago my gym introduced me to the body bugg. I don't watch the biggest loser and I had never heard of them. So I had been stuck on a plateau for a year. I'd bounce up, I'd bounce down, everyone who has been stuck knows this problem way too much. I decided to give it a try. I was shocked. I had come to realize I could not eat what other people ate. I am constantly hearing people say "oh i don't eat that much" or " I don't eat anymore than anyone else". I used to say that too, ... Tue, 23 Mar 2010 22:22:51 EST P90x Update So I just finished week 2 of P90x. I'm also combining P90x with my regular work outs with the gym actually. So here is my progress.

So when I started P90x I was at 168 I've dropped down to 164.
Arms lost .5 inches on both
calves stayed the same
thighs lost an inch on both
chest lost 2 inches
stomach lost 1/2 an inch
hips lost 1 1/2 inches

so total of 7 inches and 4lbs lost

of course some of this could be off due to tape measure ... Sat, 13 Mar 2010 20:59:15 EST The Scale I feel like this issue has been coming up a lot lately either in posts or questions to me so I thought I'd just address it as a blog. So if you are someone that has already heard my rant on this, then please feel free to stop reading at any time.

So my thoughts on the scale, first of all, who died and made the scale rule the world? Because I never got the memo on why it was so important. In the beginning of this journey I was an obsessive weigher. I mean really I'd weigh 4 times a... Tue, 9 Mar 2010 09:37:19 EST New Recipe So I have new favorite recipe (thanks to my buddy Daniel the trainer).

Take one tub of light cottage cheese, add it to a tub of light cool whip, and then add two packets of the jello sugar free packets. I really like the lime one, it seriously ends up tasting like a key lime pie. It is so good, low in calories, and protein packed. I'm not a big cottage cheese fan, but trust me, this stuff is awesome. Fri, 5 Mar 2010 22:59:04 EST Melody Update Thanks everyone for the messages and comments. We got good news today at the doctor's office. The appointment went well. The doctor thinks that it was a cyst that got a pocket of infection. He drained it again today and put her on what he called an "intense" round of antibiotics. She takes it 3 times a day for 10 days and then we go back to see him to see what it looks like. He said we'd see what is left of it at that point and then make the decision on if we need to surgically remove part of... Wed, 3 Mar 2010 20:38:36 EST Need good thoughts/prayers So yesterday as I was putting Melody's hair up to go to Karate I noticed she had a bump the size of a gumball ( a little one) behind her ear. Her earring had been a little red this weekend, but I didn't think anything of it, just cleaned it and figured she had pulled it on her shirt or something. So I called the pediatrician, luckily last night was their late night so we ended up there at 7:30. Turns out Melody probably had an allergic reaction to the medal (even though she has had those earr... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 11:01:19 EST P90x So I've finally decided to do it. After hearing rave reviews from everyone I know who has done the program. I thought why not give it a shot. I did day 1 today. I'll admit, I can't do pull ups or correct push ups so today was not my favorite, but I did really like the ab ripper dvd. Sun, 28 Feb 2010 16:05:21 EST Chilli's Dissapointment So on Valentine's Day of course every restaurant was packed. Josh and I saw Chilli's wasn't to crazy so we headed on in. Now normally I really like Chilli's and have always loved the fact that they had their health options menu. The grilled chicken sandwich was really good. To my horror the menu has changed. The lovely page of low calorie foods is gone along with my favorite chicken sandwich. There are now about 6 options that they call their guiltless grill options that have 750 calories or ... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 14:44:00 EST Guest Blogger on the What an honor I got to share my story and thoughts on childhood obesity a few days ago on the daily spark as a guest blogger. This is such a a big issue to me and I can't tell you how thrilled I am that First Lady Obama shares that passion. This issue has been ignored way to long and children are our future, but right now we determine theirs. So you can check out the blog if you missed it.

a_better_momand_i_broke_the_cycle_of_o
b... Sat, 13 Feb 2010 09:15:33 EST This Weeks Challenge Ok this week I am challenging myself to make one of my meals a salad. Lets see how this goes.

Day 1 down - monday's lunch was a salad
Day 2 - salad as a side at dinner
Day 3 - salad under chicken salad for dinner
Day 4- made a salad with lettuce and the sautteed onions and shrimp from my fajitas tonight, instead of using the tortillas
Mon, 1 Feb 2010 10:31:49 EST New Song OK so I'm a total music buff and like most people sometimes a song just speaks to you. So right now my song of the moment is "Defying Gravity" it is from the musical Wicked and was on this season of Glee, but I think the lyrics are awesome and can really be related to this how weight loss thing. It gets me motivated in the gym, I always wondering what the guys would think if they knew this was what I was in the weight room lifting too. LOL

Something has changed wi... Tue, 19 Jan 2010 19:08:48 EST CBS & NBC News Links with Melody Ok so I had to share this interview with everyone, not because of me. Please ignore me in the clip, but I am so proud of my little one. The interviewer decided to ask Melody a few questions today while they were interviewing me and thought she was so cute they ended up using the footage. So I'm a proud Mama.

Update: NBC did the same thing so I'm posting both videos of Melody

4&autoStart=true&contentID=81269667
<BR... Tue, 12 Jan 2010 22:15:55 EST The New York Wrap Up So as the family and I were vacationing in Orlando, I got a call asking me if I could fly to NY to do the Today Show. I was shocked and then I was thinking, what could I possibly be doing that was cooler than that. LOL

So we headed to NYC Tuesday morning. My wonderful DH was able to work to take some time off to come with me. Which was good since Tuesday morning they told me at the airport I didn't have a seat on the flight from Charlotte to Newark. Needless to say there was panic... Sun, 10 Jan 2010 15:51:17 EST I got to meet Spark Guy!!!!

Ok so I will post a full wrap of the New York trip soon, but I just had a minute and had to tell you guys one thing. I got meet Chris Downie (aka: Spark Guy, author of The Spark, and the guy who brought us this great website). It was a great coincidence that as I was in NYC to do the Today Show, Chris was in town doing press for the book. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with him that afternoon and chat. It... Thu, 7 Jan 2010 23:25:36 EST New Facebook Page With all of the things happening right now. I started getting lots of new adds on facebook and created a new facebook page. To share info and address questions. So come support me on facebook.

urn/231601639239?ref=search&sid=318057
43.883272411..1
Fri, 1 Jan 2010 09:34:37 EST People Magazine- Half Their Size Ok so it is my shameless brag. I'm featured in this week's People magazine issue "Lost Half Their Size". Check out the pictures of my daughter and I in the magazine. It seems so surreal to see the magazine and the Spark Book with my pictures in it in stores. Thu, 31 Dec 2009 22:04:29 EST I went sledding! Ok so to many this is not a big deal, but for me it was another one of those never done that moments. First of all it doesn't snow that much in NC where I grew up, but anytime it did snow I was the kid that never went sledding because I was afraid of getting on and off the sled, being too heavy, all those things. So I never participated. But today with over 2 feet of snow on the ground and my 4 year old begging me I did it. On a side note I'm also wearing my hubby's old Air Force Goretex Unif... Sun, 20 Dec 2009 17:57:23 EST What a difference..... So normally the middle picture on my spark page is reserved for a new self body shot, but this month I had to give part of that picture over to the hubby. As you have obviously seen if you are reading this blog. My top pictures is a before picture of my husband and I at the beginning of my journey. On Monday (Dec 14) Josh and I will have been married 7 years, which is just crazy and hard to believe. So I thought it would be fitting to put one of our most recent pictures up. As you can tell m... Sat, 12 Dec 2009 21:33:44 EST 26 days of Thanks I saw this on facebook. Where it asked if you could find something to be thankful for everyday before Thanksgiving. So I decided to see if I could do it. Of course I'm back filling a lot since it is almost Thanksgiving.

1. My daughter - she amazes me everyday

2. My husband - it has been an interesting year

3. My health - it is a miracle I didn't do more damage to my body with my weight

4. My mom - she is my best friend

5. I wish I could elaborate on them and I will in time, but for right now could everyone just send lots of good thoughts/prayers our way that everything works out. See, I told you vague. I promise I'll tell everyone what is going on as soon as I can. Thu, 12 Nov 2009 15:18:13 EST Back Home So I'm back home from part one of my trip. I'm home for like 4 days and then we are back on the road for 4 days. Good news... stayed within my calorie counts each day and got a few work outs in. My work outs aren't as good in the hotel gym for sure, but something is better than nothing right. And I should say I left a night early just to get back to spin class at my gym, can anyone say spin addict? LOL Wed, 28 Oct 2009 22:47:53 EST I'm doing good. 2 days down 2 to go. Doing good on our trip so far. Stayed in my calorie ranges for both days even got a workout in today. Yesterday was my rest day anyways. I sent the hubby to dessert hour and forbid him from bringing any to the room. LOL Sun, 25 Oct 2009 20:13:26 EST This is going to be tough.... So I have a few things coming up this holiday season and I want to look fabulous of course. So after we got back from Colorado I had decided to re buckle down. Well..... now we are going out of town again. I normally let myself relax when we travel, but not this time. So I'm loading up my protein powder jugs and protein bars. Obviously I will have to eat out some while we are there, but I'm wanting to really focus. The other kicker, we are on the concierge floor, which means the lounge down t...
