I have had a difficult time adhering to my food and exercise plans since just after Thanksgiving and as a result have gained back weight. This alone is enough to depress me but also my knees feel the added pounds and I get out of breath more often. I find that setting a certain date or event as my goal doesn't work for me, neither does competing or being in a race with someone else as to who can do better. I signed up for a drawing class in my community, today was first class, and we sketched from a photo. i chose photo of my granddaughter Izzy when she was maybe 3 mo old. I have not taken drawing classes ever but I enjoy doodling and drawing so hope to learn correct techniques. But more importantly, it is getting me dressed and out of the house early as opposed to staying home and on ipad or in front of tv all day. Sat, 11 Jan 2014 23:11:17 EST Eating Healthy while Traveling Last night was my first weigh in following a 6-week road trip, and I lost 8 pounds, bringing my total weight loss to 11 pounds. I have been up and down weight wise in the past year but this is my lowest weight In a year, Woo Hoo! <BR> <BR> These last 6 weeks taught me that I can eat healthy in restaurants and in people's homes if I just try....DUH! I ate dinner before I went, dinner was a super large banana smoothie made with yogurt and a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast, and for good measure I added in Peanut butter...3 tablespoons! I realize now that I was reacting to joining TOPS, and ate my Last And Final Supper beforehand. Not a good thing. I had lost a total of 4 pounds last month, which was very dismal conidering I have a lot to lose and still trying to lose just the first 10 pounds! So I suck... He received calls from all of his 4 children (living out of state), a text from one of the grandsons, and a visit from my daughter and her daughter. I have done well foodwise all weekend (last weekend I blew it) even though we went to breakfast and lunch out. It is so much easier to eat what I know I should eat, especially when I am prepared with the right kind of food on hand and vegetables/fruit cleaned and cut up. My edema is better... I have been thinking about the past couple of momths, and how well I did with food choices and staying within my daily calorie limit some of the time but not at other times. If there is an item of food or an entire meal that I don't have on hand or just don't feel like preparing or eating, I can substitute from a large list of that food or meal group. This is not so terribly different from a few other diets I've tried but it sure feels different, and SP makes it so easy with the technology. Sat, 27 Apr 2013 08:56:49 EST A New Beginning Today I am starting over again, and this time following SP meal plans. Only took me 6 months of doing "my own thing" with what I thought was dieting to realize I need serious help with food portions and meal plans. During these last 6 months, I have gone up and down on the scale in the range of 8 pounds, and find myself back at zero pounds lost as of yesterday. Today is good, walked on treadmill 25 min for a distance of .65 mile, slowly increasing each week per the 12 week walking plan that I'm following. Eating healthy and logging it all in. I'm relaxed today, filing tax extension yesterday probably helped, ha! Sticking to plan which gives me the feeling of being in control helps alot. Happy Tuesday to everyone. Tue, 16 Apr 2013 15:47:50 EST Sunday night update. Friday April 12, I walked for 25 min on treadmill, .56 mile, that is 5 min longer than before., and I felt it too. Weekend was busy and my eneegy disappears every afternoon, not sure why. Beginning tomorrow Monday, my diet is going to be a lot cleaner, and I am back on treadmill, goal is to walk Monday through Friday and take weekends off. <BR> <BR> See you tomorrow. <BR> Mon, 15 Apr 2013 00:06:24 EST Tuesday, April 9, 2013, back on the treadmill After not exercising since last Friday, I was back on the treadmill today. Did 21minutes at 1.8 mph for a distance of .58 mile. A little faster resulting in a little farther than last week, which is good. However I ate impulsively today twice so I am already over my max today and still have dinner to go. <BR> <BR> I find myself spending hours on SP, so much to read, and took a break from it over the weekend also, except for a little here and there. I walked for the 4th day in a row, 20 min for distance of .51 mile. then did nearly 15 min of 5lb handweights for arm exercises, also did 15 sit and stands, and leg lifts. <BR> Came home and fixed a large green salad with some cheese, mushrooms, flaxseed meal and one chopped orange, just a little over 400 cal with light ranch dressing mixed with apple cider vinegar, and water to drink. Three days in a row, I think that may be a record for me exercising on my own without attending a class. Certainly is the most walking I've done in 15 years or more. Today I walked again on treadmill, 20 min at 1.8 mi for distance of .55 mile. Prior to yesterday (Day One of my commitment to walking) the most walking I did was grocery shopping or shopping at Costco, and I am sure it came no where near 1/2 mile.
