Bad days have consisted of: lack of motivation, personal issues, health issues and in general, gets in the way of my plans. Fri, 7 Feb 2014 12:17:33 EST Food Relationships..... I have jumped onto the SparkWagon and fell off the wagon more than a few times over the past 4 years. The fall starts with an innocent food on the "do not eat" list. Huge slice of pizza, frozen yogurt, fried chicken, Carls Jr. $6.00 Burger....etc. Before long, matter of a few shot weeks, all the foods that were on the" no-no" list are reintroduced back into the diet. Then all the hard work to lose weight and eating clean are left behind. But not forgotten because I was healthy for that perio... Tue, 28 Jan 2014 13:02:54 EST Diet Wagon Trying To Bump Me Off! Back on the diet-wagon but hard to hold on. Have not been able to do strenuous weight exercises or upper body aerobics due to a shoulder injury. But prior to shoulder injury other health obstacles started in Feb. when I hurt my lower back and could hardly get around for 3 weeks. Then on the cusp of healing in Mar. I caught a bad cold that wiped me out for 3 weeks. I have managed to drop 21 lbs. since Jan 1st. despite not being able to get in some aggressive exercise. Lately, my exercise consi... Thu, 25 Apr 2013 09:43:55 EST Polar Bear Motorcycle Ride A group of us from the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) did the Polar Bear Run yesterday in Portland, Oregon. This is attended by bikers from all over Oregon and Washington. This is an annual event, 29th annual. Some people jump into icy waters, we ride motorcycles. I will have to say I forgot to take my "smart-pills" when I decided to take this motorcycle trip on New Years Day. (Both groups need smart-pills). We surpassed all of our expectations with 5900 lbs of non-perishable food and $783.00 in cash donations (not including what our meeting-site collected). All in all with the cash conversion to pounds, we totaled more than 6000 lbs of food that equals approximately 4,425 meals. Mon, 3 Dec 2012 12:44:31 EST The Cost of Eating Reality Check :-{ OR ;-] I posted a response very similar to a SparkCafe question. A SparkMember was asking how to eat healthy on a small budget. She thinks eating healthy will cost her more and push outside of her budget.

When I go on a diet I find my budget for eating decreases substantially on a monthly basis. I can eat well on simplistic staple foods. When I am not on a diet I tend to shop for items that are not healthy and costly. (Lots of know what I mean) Coupled with the fact I am... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 13:36:14 EST Back from Motorcycle Trip with Baggage :-\ Made it back from the Run For The Wall, a truncated trip but enjoyed my stay with friends in Los Angeles area for a few days. Made it back in plenty of time for our 25th wedding anniversary. I was glad to be back home.

BUT!!! I brought back more baggage than I left with in the form of bad habits and pounds heavier. I reintroduced foods that I have either eliminated or watched carefully that have caused me gained about 15 lbs. coupled with being out of physical condition. I do get... Fri, 20 Apr 2012 11:56:44 EST Vietnam Wall Memorial Facts As a Vietnam Veteran these fact tell a story. My annual motorcycle trek from Los Angeles to Washington DC is coming in 3 weeks. It is the Run For The Wall. (We don't actually physically run but ride motorcycles. I belong to the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) group. It was a great honor for me to attend this funeral that has been waiting for 88 years, today, since his death April 13th 1924. I have had a food and fitness relapse starting last May. I went on a motorcycle road trip from Portland OR to Los Angeles to Washington DC....and back of course. I gained some bad habits along the way.
I discovered food that I had taken off my list, then reintroduced and have gone overboard. I have gone from 216 lbs in May back up to 238 lbs. For the past 4 days I have been putting in an average of 5 hours each day painting. This calculates to: 4 days (300 min X 8 Cal per min) /3500 cal. per pound = 2.74 pounds lost.
I have a renewed respect for people who paint for a living. The obstacles were much more difficult than I had imagined or on the video clip shown on the Website. The first obstacle was the logs in the lake. Getting over those logs, 5 of them, was no easy task when you are in over waist deep water trying to get over rolling logs. The 3rd obstacle was the vertical 16 foot (?) retaining wall with the knotted rope you have to climb hand-over-hand getting over to the other side was no e... Sun, 11 Sep 2011 22:33:05 EST Warrior-Dash...Ready Or Not!! Well it is near time to get with this Warrior-Dash program next weekend 9/10/11 & 09:30 AM. It seems so long ago and a grand idea when I signed-up last Jan 2011 for the event. I was in decent running shape then. Since signing-up for the race my left knee has had problems and my shoulders have problems. I have had shots in both but does not seem to help much. My intense training for the event has come to a standstill for several months. Two weeks ago at the beach I started running and the knee... Sun, 13 Mar 2011 19:31:10 EST All Consuming Lifestyle Thoughts....... I can sympathize with people about the obsession of weight loss and nutrition consuming ones life. I have been at this lifestyle change of "Nutrition & fitness" for over a year now. I am still learning, reviewing, researching and living everyday with "controlling" my calories consumption, eating habits, fitness, and life's situations around me. Pushing myself to exercise sometimes reminds me of an old-time comedy skit with the actors Don Ameche and Francis Langford who called themselves "The Bickersons". One of their skits Langford is trying to get Don Ameche to do something, so she says: "You say you'll do it, but you won't!, So do it now!" When it comes to exercise or doing something around the house I have to use their line to push me along. I am a procrastinator so I have to say to myself: I say I will do it but I won't! So I ha... Wed, 2 Feb 2011 18:33:04 EST Composition Body Weight? I have seen many articles here in SparkPeople that goes over this same information, but thought I would post this Website showing a little twist on how it is presented. The title of the article is "Scale Subterfuge: Does Body Weight Matter?" The article is written for women but can very well be for men.
