Sun, 18 Aug 2013 21:39:08 EST Coping with Sabotage! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5420699 We probably all have people in our lives who either intentionally or unintentionally, sabotage our efforts to make good food choices and lose weight. "Come on Sue, you can't be the only one not to have a glass of wine!" or "Three French fries aren't going to impact your weight loss that much!" Really? I know that it is not the one glass of wine or the three French fries that sabotages my efforts, it is what follows that choice. I will say to myself, "I already had a glass of wine on Friday or... Sun, 14 Jul 2013 12:17:51 EST We are all here to bring out the God colors in the world" Matthew http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5405338 I believe gardening is a great way to enjoy and show the God colors in the world. The verse can apply to many things, but certainly the beauty of nature is one of them. Whenever I create dish gardens I feel at peace and experience a simple joy at just picking out the plants and flowers I will use, working with the soil, and finally having my creation come together. It never ceases to amaze me the incredible variety of plants. I love to just look at individual flowers and appreciate the beauty... Sat, 29 Jun 2013 09:50:24 EST Remembering my precious son today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5401788 Today is the third anniversary of my son, Luis's journey to heaven. Today we visited a Memory Walk that is a beautiful area with foliage and a meandering path. Along the path there are stones that have been painted in memory of a loved one. I painted this one in memory of Luis. I miss him so much sometimes I ache and feel physical pain. I am so grateful for his time here on earth that so enriched my life. He will live on in my heart, mind, and soul FOREVER!

382 ... Tue, 25 Jun 2013 21:30:48 EST What butterflies mean to me. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5294141 Since my son died in June of 2013, I often feel my son's presence when I am around a butterfly. A couple of months ago, there was a HUGE dark blue butterfly outside my bedroom sliding glass door. I watched it for awhile and then went about my day. Later, around dusk I was back in my bedroom reading on a loveseat. One of my cats wanted to go out and my husband came in and let her out. When he opened the door, the same butterfly flew in. It flew all around the room right past me and then landed... I had areas covering, health, family/friends, giving, seeking, travel, and creativity. I used printed out quotes, pictures from the internet and magazines and some things I had painted or drawn. It was a very powerful exercise in being open to the possibilities of the coming year. My title in the middle of my board is: I Am Living With Intention.
87 Sat, 26 Jan 2013 18:36:07 EST Our body is a vessel here on earth. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5214592 My husband and I are in two traumatic loss groups since the loss of our son in June of 2010. It was after my loss that I gained so much weight. At our December gathering, the facilitator spoke about how our body is merely a vessel while we are on the plain of earth. It helped me focus on what matters and that is the spirit and soul of a person. I am shifting my thinking to focusing more on being in each moment and taking care of my vessel on earth as it will allow me to be in balance with m... If you don't have a cat, pet a dog, spend time watching your fish, gerbil, bird, etc. If you don't own a pet, there are usually pets around us somewhere. There are also precious pictures of pets online that will make you smile!
2. Meditate for 5-1- minutes daily- I like to use the mantra: "God, please come sit in my heart my heart is open to you..." Reading short inspirational sayings or stories also helps alleviate stress
3. Spend time wit...
