ARTCHICK1957's SparkPeople Blog ARTCHICK1957's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community a new day a new challenge I have been working with spark people for about 5 years now and have learned a lot. I met my first weight loss goal and have kept the weight off for about 2 years, but I made a second weight loss goal and although I have managed to maintain I have been unable to continue losing. This plateau has lasted for about 2 years. I know why, I stopped tracking my nutrition and although I did my stretch and tone exercises regularly, I haven't done enough cardio exercises.

I realized that ... Thu, 27 Jun 2013 11:41:48 EST Update on-- unintended results Well I talked with the clinic this afternoon and apparently the lab results show my sodium and potassium levels in normal range. Only my Vitamin D was a little low. What did I say about jumping to conclusions! I did it again. I also had an EKG and other then my atrial Fibrillation, it wasn't bad. But I was advised to have another one at the Dr. office for comparison. So the bad news is, I still don't know why I am having these bad symptoms, but the good news is, we have ruled out two po... Thu, 4 Nov 2010 15:55:45 EST Losing weight--unintended results! When I first started on my weight loss journey, I knew that because of my health problems, I had to work closely with my doctor to do it safely. I started with the doctors blessing and encouragement. All my doctors wanted me to lose weight. and I have lost over 40 lbs. in the last 3 years. It has been so slow that it never occurred to me that I would end up with medical problems but I have, and I now think they could be potentially life threatening if not corrected soon. I hope I am wron... Thu, 4 Nov 2010 12:41:25 EST A note about progress and commentment I am very pleased with my progress here on sparkpeople. First the weight loss (43.8 lbs to date) out of the 45 lbs I pledged as my original goal. It has taken me a long time, nearly three years so far, but I am getting very close! I only have internet for 6 or 7 months of each year and it was not dependable the first couple of years (dial up), so I have had to do it on my own much of the time. This I think has helped me in some ways, because I have had to learn fast, by reading article... Mon, 18 Oct 2010 13:51:12 EST Losing and Maintaining I have been reading some of the blogs posted and find many from people who have lost a lot or a little weight, hit a plateau and became so discouraged, they quit, gained some or all of it back and had to start over. I know just how they feel, because I have been battling with this problem all my life. I considered myself "over weight" but not "obese" because I had never gone over 200. Well one day at my doctors office I weighed in at 207. That was when I decided to get serious about weigh... Tue, 24 Aug 2010 12:40:57 EST Eating from the garden and the farmers markets My husband is a avid gardener and grows many of the vegetables we need. Every summer I had cooked from the garden and enjoyed the freshness of the vegetables without really understanding how much it means to our health. But after being on sparkpeople, and reading so many inspiring blogs and articles, I think I now fully understand the importance of fruits and vegetables. I also see how important it is to grow and buy the fruits and vegetables that are in season, rather than rely on cans a... Mon, 23 Aug 2010 11:51:17 EST Thoughts of an older chick I never thought I would reach 70 years old, and here I am nearly 71. It may seem to some that it is too late to worry about losing weight and keeping it off or worry about how I look. But I am here to tell you this weight loss journey has been an eye opener for me. Of course I wish I had learned more about nutrition and weight management years ago, but it is never too late. If you do it for the right reasons. Of course I don't expect to get back to the 106 lb. I weighed when I was marrie... Tue, 3 Aug 2010 16:03:22 EST thank you sparkpeople this is my first blog and I am not really sure what a blog is, but I think it is giving your opinion about something. I am so thankful to have this website. It has helped me so much. I started with it last spring and working with it all summer and fall was able to create a healthy eating plan for both myself and my husband by tracking my calories and nutritional food values on the nutrition tracker. We are both challenged by many medical problems and have found this site so helpful in lo... Wed, 7 May 2008 08:33:36 EST
