Wed, 23 Mar 2011 19:51:20 EST Sometime blessing come in the most unpleasant packages. I've have seen many sparkers ask everyone to write down 10 thing they are thankful for. Responders always list the very pleasant and beautiful blessing in their lives. I think sometime we need to see how our trails and the unpleasant things in life have blessed us and made us stronger and wiser. Maybe we should list them and see how they have been blessings.

It seems hard to be thankful for things we wished we wouldn't have to endure or weaknesses we despise. Anyway I'm gonna giv... Fri, 21 Jan 2011 01:23:10 EST Am I losing the fire already? When I got up this mourning I did want to go down into the basement and get on my treadmill. I thought Wow what's happening? What happened to the fire? So I made myself get up and signed on to SP thinking I'll find something there that will fire me up. Nope not much going on there at the time. So I went back to bed.

Now lying in bed I'm thinking I can't really go back to sleep. What are my choices? Only I can chose what I do next. Fri, 7 Jan 2011 14:05:14 EST A sad statistic Only 5% of people who start a diet reach their goal weight and fewer than that keep the weight off.

I would hope that percentage is higher with SP. Wish there was some way to get statistic on how well this site is working. I have read lots of great success stories on SP. They all give me great hope. I have also seen many folks come and go. Many who talk the the talk but Yo Yo up and down on the scales (me being one of them).

I have been a member of of SP for 2 years. At ... Thu, 6 Jan 2011 11:09:59 EST Today is the most important day of my journey. Day three of 120 days. Day three is usual the hardest day to to keep going. Day three is just one day. I can do anything for one day. Today is the present. Today is the only day I can work on my goals. Living in the present day is the only way I'm going to reach my goal weight. I can't go back in time and I can't live in the future. So everyday I wake up is the most important day of the journey. It's is the only time I have to do what needs to be done.

I have made up my mind I'... Wed, 5 Jan 2011 12:57:43 EST I can do anything for one day. Yesterday was my first day of my 120 day quest to lose that last 20 lbs, I workout for 2 hours, recorded my food intake and stayed in my calorie range. Ya! nice day. Today is my second day. I woke up earlier and ready to rock and roll. Thought to myself I can repeat what I did yesterday because it felt so good. I'm taking this one day at a time.

Seven days of one day at a time turns into one week. It takes two to three weeks to over come physical cravings. Four weeks to from a new ... Tue, 4 Jan 2011 10:50:48 EST Today is the first day of a 17 week journey. I will turn 64 on May 3rd. That is 17 weeks and 1 day from today. My goal is to lose 20 pounds. That last pesky 20 pounds. That area that I keep yoyo-ing up and down and am never able to keep myself at my normal weight. My old mind set is that once I get my weight down with exercise and diet I can start eating what I want as long as i keep up the exercising. Wrong, then all my bad eating habits return and the weight slowly starts to creep back on.

This is my 2 year sparks-versety.... Mon, 3 Jan 2011 12:18:15 EST To all my SP Friends. A poem written by a 93 year old retired policeman.

Friends:

When good friends walk beside us
on the trails that we must keep;
our burdens seem less heavy
and the hills are not so steep.
The weary miles pass swiftly,
taken in joyous stride;
and the world seems brighter
when friends walk by our side.

Pete Peterson (He passed away 13 years ago but his words live on)

This is what Sparkpeople is to me.

Arrr ...
