The people kept shifting - but one was always a close friend of mine and the other was somebody "normal". One scene, being asked to help out in the writing, and sitting on the floor helping with grammar. Being corrected even when I knew I was right, and just backing down by saying "oh, well I've seen it the other way too". That was all that I was allowed to participat... Tue, 15 Oct 2013 06:55:45 EST Cooking on Saturdays http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5511773 I love cooking on weekends. On Sunday evening I always make the food for the week, which is fine. And then cooking in the rest of the week is necessity cooking. But Saturday lunches - these are my play times. I cook for just that meal. I play with new flavors. I have fun.

Today I made:

Carmelized onions, added leftover rice, fried until nicely brown.
Green beans with ginger, garlic and soy sauce.
Roasted carrots (with cumin) and Roasted beets with dressing ... Sat, 12 Oct 2013 19:42:09 EST Figuring out what I need. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5504854 People always say that diet is most of weight loss, but when I'm in the states I gain weight because of change in lifestyle, not diet. I always cook for myself, always healthy. But I get used to eating a certain amount when I walk probably on average two hours a day in Europe (sometimes one hour, sometimes four or five hours), so the shock is in activity levels. I do try to adjust my eating, but the fact is, not moving also increases my stress. Also, it's not that I keep gaining weight - ther... Fri, 4 Oct 2013 23:54:45 EST Trying still ... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4961435 A day of anxiety. Anxiety is my biggest threat. It is not food, it is not laziness. It is the worry that eats away at me. When I lived in Europe I could walk it off. Now? In the states? I have no reliable way to deal with it.

I know this offends Americans, and I'd like to refer to that lovely Kurt Vonnegut quote ... But I don't love America, or Americans and I very much wish I were away. I grew up here and the only place I've been happy has been elsewhere. Even Ghana made more sen... Mon, 9 Jul 2012 00:47:22 EST What a day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2097755 After a beautiful hour and a half walk in the park, it's packing time. It's sad to be packing up this place where R and I first lived together ... also knowing that it may be some time before we can really have a permanent place of our own. It's been a year long battle with the mold and the slugs, unreliable plumbing and rarely hot water ... but sad nonetheless.

Tonight we're off to his parents, where I probably won't have internet access since his father is very controlling and p... Wed, 27 May 2009 11:42:57 EST Getting started ... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2082506 Really, this is not the easiest time to be starting out, in the middle of moving. I've been in a slump for months, living in a tiny mold-infested apartment in a dirty city, and now I'm getting out. Getting back to somewhere I can breathe and be more active. For the next week, I may do well on nutrition, but not on fitness. The week after, I'll be living with my in-laws, and might get some exercise just walking to get out of the house!

Still, it feels good to make a commitment to ...
