I have been working my butt off, eating exceptionally well, and doing what I need to do. SO WHY IS THERE NO CHANGE????

Now, I know... the numbers on the scale don't tell us everything. They won't say how much muscle we are building. They won't differentiate between a bloaty day or not. They won't tell us if we are losing inches.

I've been working hard at getting my exercise in--joined a functional fitness class that meets twice a week an... Sat, 1 Nov 2014 10:25:23 EST New motivation is always good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5807296 My SIL invited me to join her at her fitness class (local community ed class... named Functional Fitness, but basically crossfit) a couple weeks ago. This was in response to my desperate plea for her to meet me at the local winery after a tough day. So no wine that night, but I did go to her class a couple days later, and then decided to go ahead and sign up for the current 6 week session. AND I'M LOVING IT!

318 320 85 320 104</... Uffda. I know this is a serious cause of my issues. I've been pretty good with tracking, but it's time to really get into the game. So that little kitchen scale is out and the measuring cups/spoons are handy.

Wish me luck! Mon, 29 Sep 2014 22:34:52 EST Saturday... took a break from tracking today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5783753 So today was a crazy day in the food world--so I decided to take a break from tracking today. It was the first time in over 2 weeks (which I'm pretty proud of!) and I aimed at making good choices within reason, not telling myself "I'm off the hook today--let's go nuts!" It was my daughter's birthday, and she came home from college with a couple friends, so I made sweet gooey French toast bake for breakfast. Then we met up today for lunch at the local diner after breaking up to go garage sale-... Tue, 16 Sep 2014 01:02:44 EST Facebook Fast http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5777638 I homeschool my 3 youngest kids (6th grade, 4th grade, and pre-k). I decided to go on a Facebook fast for two weeks while we got our homeschool under way. It's been an interesting experiment. I have done this before, but always let myself check in one day a week. Well, this time, I said it would be 2 weeks with no checking. I have found myself sitting at the computer wondering what I should do next... I check my email and SP, so now what! haha! WHAT?! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5772980 Yeah. 205. That number is not who I am or what I feel like. BUT it's reality. Just a year and a half ago I was down to 174. At that time I had worked consistently, tracking everything, and I saw the weight drop off. I felt GOOD. Since then I have had a succession of fits and starts, but never stuck to it again. I haven't kept up on SP, which I really NEED to do. I have to say that I did pretty well on most of them. I have increased my activity after a terrible slump... got back to the gym and got in a couple outdoor runs now that it is a little warmer (and the mud wasn't too bad). It all takes looking at things from a different view, making adjustments or changes, and trying to make things better. Well, in this whole getting-enough-sleep scenario, it means I have to look at my entire day. What is causing me to stay up so late at night. Part of it is just that I enjoy the peace and quiet. But part of it is that I don't get things done earlier in the day. I am the queen of putting things off until the last minute... There is the problem... too much stuff to do, mind going a million miles a minute, etc. etc. etc. That I like to think that I can accomplish more at night, which I can... but is that because I'm more awake or just have less distractions? At 10:00 this evening I had 3 kids with temps over 102, 3 coughing, and all 5 (currently at home) laying down/sleeping/resting. I have the SP app for tracking food and fitness when I don't have quick access to a computer (or when my computer is acting up, as it seems to do more and more often lately. Mon, 3 Dec 2012 22:50:10 EST Little bump in the road, but on we go! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154181 Right before Thanksgiving I got sick. Started with a sore throat and just tired... turned into a chest cold and nasty sore throat. Unfortunately, when you have a big family you can't just "check out," especially during a major holiday! So I did too much, didn't get the rest I needed, and it took about a week to get through it. Ugh. I was wiped out and couldn't even think about getting any workouts in (I would cough to death and then keel over if I tried!) and comfort foods was the only thing... I think you work 3 times as hard in the process! Whew! That was some effective 20 minutes!

If you are up for a workout--try this!

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-
detail.asp?video=29

198

Anyhow, completed... Thu, 15 Nov 2012 00:20:36 EST Tuesday, Nov. 12. Catching up after the weekend! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5134263 I fell behind a little on my 28 day Bootcamp workout challenge over the weekend. Missed doing anything Friday, Saturday or Sunday, but did 2 of the short toning vids yesterday and 1 of them today. Tonight I'll hit the treadmill or bikes after a 4-H Leader meeting. It will be late, but I need to get back on my workout bandwagon!

I enjoyed having one of my college girls home for the weekend, though she did have her own things to go and do. That's OK since we had didn't necessarily cl... Tue, 13 Nov 2012 16:46:25 EST 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge, Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5129749 I'm getting my blog entry done early today since my daughter is coming home for a visit from college tonight, and I won't be on the computer. Anyhow, today I did the Day 2 video--nice simple lower body workout! The littles were watching me, so they joined in. I purchased a set of 3 lb weights yesterday at Target (and plan on slowly adding to the collection, but this is a good start). Little Guy thinks it is great fun to run off with them, but I'm a little nervous he will drop one on his foot ... Fri, 9 Nov 2012 16:07:12 EST New challenge! 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge, Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5129084 I was sitting here last night sad that I have to wait to rejoin the 5% Challenge until the winter run, when I thought, "Wait a minute! I bet I could find something that will keep me motivated until that Winter 5% Challenge starts up!" So, I did a search and came across the 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge! Perfect! This will keep me motivated and give me that little extra to keep the momentum going!

So, today was the first day. Basically I'm committing to complete a strength/toning video ... Fri, 9 Nov 2012 00:57:27 EST Running OUTSIDE. YAY! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5127581 Since I put those November goals down in writing, they are coming along well. This morning I stepped on the scale to see a 2.5 lb loss! I had been waffling about taking the opportunity of a friend watching the kids to get out for a run or just come home and work on projects. Well, there is nothing like success to spur you on! So after dropping the kids off for their playdate, I hit the trail. Our town has a beautiful paved trail that goes about 30 miles on an old railroad bed to another town.... Wed, 7 Nov 2012 17:18:50 EST November goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5123135 465 465 465 465 465
I looked back and realized I haven't gone over my goals since August. So, let's look at those old goals. They were mostly long term ones:

48 I want to be at my goal weight of 145 by summer 2013. I have about 40 pounds to go. ***Working on this! Seeing slow, but steady progress***

42 I want to be able to easily run the 10K at Big Woods in October 2012, followed by ... Sun, 4 Nov 2012 01:21:37 EST Frustration, but gotta remember I'm going in the right direction! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5123118 I was getting very frustrated that I have not dropped as much as I'd thought I would, even with keeping within my ranges and bumping up my fitness. In March I was at 178.5. Now I am at 184. But when I looked at my weight chart, I saw that I was up to 188 on Oct. 12. That was when I really started back on SP and have been OP since. Since Oct. 12, I have dropped 4 pounds. That is just over a pound a week! So although I still haven't gotten back to my 178.5, I have to remind myself of the progre... Sun, 4 Nov 2012 00:49:56 EST 5K http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5118593 I think I can really say I'm a runner now. When I hit the treadmill at the workout center, I always choose the 5K option. Whoot! Yeah, a 5K is my NORM now. That continues to amaze me! Who knew that someone who never ran more than distance between bases in softball in her entire life would start running at age 40 and consider running 3.1 miles "normal"???

So, as I stated on my status today:

So the more I run, the more weight I lose so the easier it is to run so I can run...
