I did two days of about 20-25min run/walking. 1min run/1min walk. I went with a new friend. She probably went a little faster than I'd have liked but it felt fine the first day and only a little off the second day. That was Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Then I went to yoga Thursday night. Thu, 6 Mar 2014 08:34:32 EST Still not losing any weight... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5621978 I'm really not that scale oriented but I do always wonder if I could be doing something different to make it go down. More importantly I would like clothes to be fitting looser and so far they don't seem to be. I only do monthly measurements so I'm not sure.

So what I have been doing is staying in my calorie range of 1300-1650. I was slightly over one day of the weekend and I was under yesterday. Wed, 12 Feb 2014 07:12:52 EST Biggest Loser http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5616535 In Australia we're just starting a new season of the Biggest Loser where they are trying to transform Australia's fattest town. I have kept up with a couple seasons of the show in the US and here but primarily I don't tend to watch the show. I did watch a few episodes of the newest season and I found a couple thing reminded me why I don't normally watch it.

I get so absolutely sick of hearing contestants say they can't lose the weight on their own or they can't complete a task. Thu, 6 Feb 2014 03:52:32 EST A bit of a rant and progress report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5609967 A friend of mine on facebook posted this and I thought I'd share it:

http://leigh-annthomas.com/doingbodygoal
sdifferently/

I particularly like the last one. I think people on dieting sites in general can forget that their rules are not everyone's rules. What works for you won't work for others. Thu, 30 Jan 2014 08:41:29 EST Still recommitted :-) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5603091 It has been a week since my last blog and I'm happy to report that I am actually still on track. I ate a bit higher on the weekend and didn't track on Saturday or Sunday but aside from many drinks on Sunday I don't think Saturday was a real blow-out. This town will drive me crazy if I don't get a social life so I'm happy to eat and drink some extra if it means going to a BBQ.

I feel like I'm starting to get a little more excited about exercise. Thu, 23 Jan 2014 08:26:12 EST Actually recommitted http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5595465 I sure hope I'm not speaking too soon but I finally feel recommitted to weight loss. Unfortunately that is only after a pretty significant gain in the last few months. They've been a very stressful few months so while I'm annoyed at myself for losing this much ground I can understand how it happened. Between injury and moving and job changes etc it has been a lot to deal with. I don't know if I'll ever be the sort of person who doesn't stress eat, I hope so, but I am not that mad at myself fo... Thu, 16 Jan 2014 05:25:59 EST Three month break & move http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5553990 After 3 months and a weight gain of a few kilos and a big loss of fitness I'm finally ready to get going again. I've found that I still lean on food when I stressed. I already knew this though so wasn't particularly surprised to gain some weight. We didn't just move across the country, I also spent about 8 weeks traveling around to various locations for work. I need time and energy and the facilities to plan in order to eat well. I know this. So I've tried my best to limit the damage.
... Just very busy with my move so only just barely here. The drive from Yeppoon to Perth went well. It was long, very long. We drove for 12 and 1/2 hours one day since we gained 90 minutes of daylight with the time change. This was all done after a tough mudder which I did with a nasty head cold and cough.

As for Tough Mudder I didn't really think it was that tough. It may have been because we were waiting for team mates at each obstacle. The obstacles were marginally... Sat, 31 Aug 2013 07:40:16 EST Moving is stressful http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5441353 I've been struggling a bit for awhile, mainly with food, but it wasn't too big a deal as I kept exercising. Now in two weeks I'll be moving. At the start of a very long drive to Perth we're driving to the Sunshine Coast to do a tough mudder. I wish I could say I felt more prepared.

My running has been minimal lately. Partially there's some laziness involved but it is mainly because it hurts. My hamstring never came 100% and running upsets it. I also bruised my heel and it has impr... Thu, 1 Aug 2013 17:34:56 EST Moving! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5421463 So we're moving. To the other side of the country. In about 5 weeks. I have 3 weeks temporary work lined up filling in for my friend at a vet clinic in Exmouth, Western Australia. My husband doesn't have work lined up but I think he'll have an easier time finding work once he's over there. I hope anyway!

Financially we're probably about 50% prepared for a move. Cleaning house wise we're about 10% ready. Plus we're breaking lease so I really really really hope they get new tenants ... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 07:26:23 EST Success and Failure http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5406571 Throughout the last two and a bit years I have tried to be consistent. There has been times I've eaten better than others and there's been times I've exercised more than others but at no point did I let either habit, or any of the other healthy habits I've developed, slide completely. Maybe a little here and there but never completely. Even on vacations I still exercised and made an effort to control my food choices.

I understand it is normal for motivation to wax and wane. I know... Sun, 30 Jun 2013 17:58:41 EST Recovery and Planning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5393723 I feel almost normal now, although still not quite. My hips, particularly my ITB, are still sore and my feet/shins are still sore. I can walk without looking crippled though. I skipped kickboxing on Monday night and yoga yesterday, good thing I skipped yoga as I had an afterhours call for a dog with a twisted stomach who had to be put down. I may have missed the call or taken longer to get it if I'd went to class. Anyway my trainer also cancelled class this morning so I've gotten some extra r... Tue, 18 Jun 2013 18:32:50 EST Oxfam Brisbane 100km http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5390536 The Oxfam 100km walk was this Friday through Sunday. It consists of teams of 4 walking 100km. You have to leave each checkpoint as a team and you have to start with 4 people. Our team consisted of me and 3 50 year old guys. I trained with two of them, Gary and Vince, and the third guy, Digby, we found online as he needed a team to join. He told Gary who organised the team that he would be more than capable of doing 21-22 hours even though his fastest time previously was 24 hours.

... Sun, 16 Jun 2013 06:26:42 EST Tapering http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5384176 I'm finding this whole tapering thing really hard. Especially since I didn't have a set training plan for this 100k walk. Plus I'm also in a bit of recovery mode after 2 half marathons. Probably not the best of plan leaving 10 days between the second half marathon and walking 100k. I did a short run/walk in the dark on Saturday night to try out my headlamp and I'm planning to do yoga tomorrow. I was thinking a beach walk tomorrow and Wednesday, easy and fairly short. I was planning to stay of... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 08:04:41 EST 2 Sundays and 2 Half Marathons http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5375258 That makes me a half fanatic! Not something I was aiming for but good to know I could do it.

Last Sunday I ran the Barossa Valley Half Marathon with my husband. Before the race I met up with MELROSE13 as her family was running the 5k. It was great to meet her in person and we had a delicious breakfast post run. Sun, 2 Jun 2013 04:33:21 EST Physio Appointment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5348298 Fairly good news from the physio today. He seems to think I can be fixed pretty quickly. He thinks the tendon is inflamed but not torn. Apparently the most likely cause is a slight rotation of my pelvis on that side causing my hamstring muscle to do more work than my gluts. That is the simple explanation of it anyway, or as I understood it! He did some work today on it which probably made it hurt a bit more but that's okay. I also learned my hip flexors are super tight so must work on that. I... Tue, 7 May 2013 08:02:18 EST Aquajogging http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5344991 Things learned today:
One of the main reasons I like running is to get a different look at my surroundings and notice things you don't see in a car. Running for an hour in a pool means you don't change your surroundings. This makes it pretty boring.

You can get a tan through the water. I was expecting my head and shoulders to get some colour but even my thighs are a bit more tan. Still haven't quite gotten rid of the running short tan lines but it's a start. I guess I never t... Sat, 4 May 2013 04:07:32 EST Hamstring injury http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5342881 Did you want to know a really unpleasant way to spend an evening? Sit with your left butt cheek on an ice pack. The saddest thing is that it doesn't really feel like it is working that well. I'm doing a bit of self diagnosis but am fairly sure I've hurt the tendon that joins 3 of my hamstring muscles onto my pelvis. I'm off to the physio next Tuesday so we'll see what he says. I'm imagining he'll say rest it. Which is exactly what I don't want to do.

I'm a bit worried though as it... Thu, 2 May 2013 07:45:30 EST 35k walk and 10k race http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5330275 I'm finding this 100k training a bit exhausting. More so than marathon training. On Saturday we planned to walk 40k, it wasn't on trails this time and there wasn't a huge hill so that helped make it a bit easier. It also ended up being about 35k or 22miles instead of 40k. However it took 5 and 1/2 hours. That's on schedule for an approximately 6k an hour pace which is the goal. It is a long time to be on your feet though. My hamstring, which was quite sore on Friday after my long run Thursday... Sun, 21 Apr 2013 04:55:54 EST Loving a day off http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5326746 Lucky had surgery yesterday so I've taken a day off to go pick her up. We're repairing her original cruciate rupture in her right hind leg. I fixed it at the time because I couldn't afford the surgery with the specialist. The surgery we did definitely improved joint stability, enough so that she was comfortable but not to 100%. We had her left leg done just after it was injured last year and there was an infection in the bone and the pins/plates. Instead of being on cage rest for 6 weeks she ... Sat, 6 Apr 2013 03:00:34 EST Half Marathon it is! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5309645 After a 3 hour run of 15.5 miles which included some walking (which I pretty much never do) I decided I will aim for the half in May. It was hot today and I'd been to pump class that morning so I may not have set myself up for success but I just haven't been committed enough to marathon training. I'm okay with that too. There's no way I can do a 50k race in July if we're moving so I'm going to postpone that goal for later in the year when life settles.

I think having tough mudder ... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 06:30:32 EST Twilight Half Marathon Race Report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5301178 Bit of an odd race this one. We headed down to Brisbane on Friday night. Flight was due to leave at 825pm, it left at 1245am so we weren't off to a great start! We had a good time exploring the city and went to see Cavalia, basically Cirque du Soleil with horses, as well as had dinner with my mother in law. I walked a bit too much and was wearing flip flops so I was a little foot sore on Sunday. The race was actually a twilight run so started at 5pm.

We took the ferry to the race ... We're also going to run on the weekend we get there. At the moment I'm not sure if I should commit to the marathon or run the half marathon. My long run last week was 14 miles. My husband and I went to Sydney for a few days. Spent two nights in the city and two nights in Terrigal on the Central Coast. We were supposed to be doing our first Tough Mudder but they rescheduled the event, leaving a lot of people stuck with hotels and flights. I have been on call this weekend and am on monday night. It hasn't been all that stressful so far, just a couple of injured horses. I am just so fed up with work. My bosses are incapable of communicating with each other or me. One of my bosses called me on friday instead of talking to me in person about an issue he has. My runs are really challenging, my legs just feel tired and a bit useless. Not all of them and not the entire run but more than I'd like. I'd really like to crack 2 hours for this half I'm training for in March but I'm really unsure whether I'm on pace for that. My pace during most of my runs would make me think not but it is HOT here. Fri, 4 Jan 2013 18:11:12 EST January Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5183159 I really want this year to be my year to lose this last bit of weight. I'm not quite sure why it has become so hard in the past year. I am sure it is a combination of increased strength training, increased running, a plateau at the end of last year, and gradually getting closer to my goal weight. I think the last reason is probably the most likely culprit. I'm at the smallest size that I have been in the recent past even though my weight is a little higher. I got down to my size 10 clothes an... I've mainly been seeing how many steps I do and calories I burn on an average day for me without striving for more at this point. And while they aren't perfect I'm happy to report they came out really nicely :-) Here they are:

And a close up of mine:
<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkp... Fri, 28 Dec 2012 21:08:30 EST 2012 Recap and 2013 Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5173402 2012 has been a really big year in terms of fitness for me. I ran my first half marathon and my first marathon. In fact I ended up running 4 half marathons. The first three becoming gradually faster and the fourth was more of a fun run and only a minute slower than the last. I'm very excited about that. I also ran a 52 min 10k. My first marathon exceeded goals as well with a 4 hour 27 min time.

In addition to the races I've also become much stronger and increased lean muscle. I on... Sat, 22 Dec 2012 02:30:18 EST Disappointed with Tough Mudder http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5167794 On friday I got an email saying Tough Mudder was having permit issues and was moving the date of their event from the 9th & 10th of Feb to April. They are offering a full refund but that doesn't change the fact we've already booked flights and hotels. I'm pretty pissed off that they only let people know less than 2 months from the event. And they aren't even refunding the money until mid January. I can't understand why they wouldn't have had everything sorted before even advertising the dates... Sun, 16 Dec 2012 02:26:13 EST Back to Basics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5161794 Today I did something I haven't in awhile. I went fairly overboard on brownies that our student brought us. I should mention they were delicious and well worth every single bite I ate! This is not a blog about being guilty but it is what I did differently to still meet my goals.

What was different was that I had a couple of brownies and then sat down, tracked them and gave up 3 of my snacks - a mango, an apple and my hard boiled egg.

Was it healthier to eat the browni... Mon, 10 Dec 2012 06:55:03 EST Got my run in :-) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5160757 After skipping my run friday and not being able to go yesterday I got a tempo run in today. 2 miles easy, 3 miles at 8:50ish mpm pace, 2 miles easy for 6 miles in 57min. I have really been struggling to motivate myself to do my runs. I think it might be the heat but I've been feel slow and sluggish on most of my runs. Not all of them have been that slow but they have felt slow. It is really hot here though so it is expected that I'll be a little slower or feel a bit more challenging. However ... Sun, 9 Dec 2012 05:36:45 EST Tired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5159880 So last night my lovely dogs who sleep in the bedroom started barking at 1am at something. Usually it is something imaginary that only they can hear/smell. Although in fairness there was a party down the road so maybe they could hear people leaving, although I sure couldn't. I got back to sleep quick and then the on-call phone rang at 2am. Dog having trouble birthing, so I made some suggestions and told her to call me in an hour or two if not working. Unfortunately she called me back at 315am... Sat, 8 Dec 2012 04:30:58 EST Looking Back and Holiday Plans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5152868 I was looking back a bit this week and noticed I weighed 77kg this time last year. I'm up a kg from where I was last year.....

At first I felt like maybe that meant I had accomplished exactly nothing this year. But then I also noticed I'm still a cm smaller in my waist, thigh, hips and arms than December last year. I'm up a little from my smallest in may/june but still smaller than this time last year.

More importantly in the last year I've run my first half marathon th... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 18:24:30 EST Work Christmas party http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5146669 Busy weekend this weekend. Spent all day sunday hungover. I think that will be the last weekend of drinking for awhile. Hopefully lesson is actually learned since I know I've said that before. No harm done to my diet since I ate a lot saturday and then was too ill to eat pretty much anything on Sunday. Bad news is that I got a huge blood blister on the bottom of my foot. I have worn the same heels many time and never had this problem but for whatever reason I have horrible blisters this time.... Mon, 26 Nov 2012 04:56:38 EST A couple of interesting articles http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5143135 A different prespective on what it is like to be skinny. Also a good reminder that being skinny doesn't necessarily mean everything will be right in your life or that you will no longer feel self concious about something.

www.dailylife.com.au/life-and-love/r
eal-life/an-apology-to-my-thinner-frie
nd-20121121-29ovd.html

And please don't read this one if you get offended by swears but I thought it was pretty funny. And some pretty good advice. <BR... Thu, 22 Nov 2012 04:43:57 EST
