ANNERBEES's SparkPeople Blog ANNERBEES's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Once a Skeptic Now a Believer!! Those of you on my teams know that ever since I have been running I have had issues with my Asthma. I have had those problems since I was young. It is exercise induced asthma and extremely frustrating because no Drs could ever get any med combinations that would help.

Once all the testing is done the Pulmonologist stated that I am a-typical and suggested yet another specialist. UGH!

Then I get hit with Plantar Fasciiatis. I guess if we are going to stay active as we age ... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 21:29:58 EST What a Pleasant Surprise!!! Let me just start out by saying I am a sugar addict.

When everyone says well just eat one, then put them in the freezer or hide them or whatever....nope...doesn't work. I KNOW where the freezer is and frozen sweets are amazing! lol

I started my second Whole 30 journey on Jan 12 fully expecting the same wonderful results as the first time. And for the most part that is what happened but......some completely unexpected other surprises happened also.

Since I did... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 21:10:37 EST Back On Track/Whole 30 #2 I'm back and it feels wonderful!!

The holidays threw me for a loop and I just fell apart. Traveling, family, celebrating and on and on it goes. Everything I had been doing just stopped! Bad thing to do.....

I was back to all of those awful feelings......bloating, no energy, tight clothes, weight gain and frustration with myself.

I hit the restart button Jan. 11th after my son and family left.

I started Whole 30 that day and started back on my workout... Mon, 4 Feb 2013 19:33:04 EST Plans For A Successful BLC 20!! I have tried to give this a lot of thought rather than just jot down some ideas. I am not the greatest blogger so this is always a challenge. I want so bad to make this a successful BLC and actually drop the weight instead of going up and down the whole time!

FITNESS:
P90X
BIKING
SPINNING
WALK/RUN
JILLIAN OR OTHER DVD'S

GOAL; 60 minutes x 6 days. I love variety!!

NUTRITION:
Right now I have found the Paleo/Whole 30 to be the... Mon, 17 Sep 2012 16:06:33 EST Whole30 Results I finished the Whole30 last week and was surprised at the results. Some good some bad.

The good:

I had no idea that the results of my diet could make such a major impact on my shoulder issues. I was hoping to see a difference but the difference ended up being dramatic! As in going back to doing P90X and other workouts that involve weights or push ups that I was not able to do at all!!

Another GREAT thing: NO HEADACHES!!!!!! For years I have suffered from weekl... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 19:20:49 EST Whole30 Week 2 Done! Well one of the things they tell you to promise NOT to do is weigh in. Now I know why.....I gained this week! So I was trying to think of what I did differently that made me gain, because not only did I gain but I am bloated a bit. I did buy some huge cherries and grapes and I think maybe I overdid it with them. I know I am carb sensitive even with fruit so this next week I will back off on the fruit and focus more on the veggies.

Energy levels are great!! I have been quite energe... Mon, 30 Jul 2012 21:23:00 EST Whole30 Week 1 Done! I started Whole30 last Monday in hopes that I would see the shoulder and heel pain that I have been dealing with for a long time, finally go away!!

I am doing this with hubby and it is interesting the differences I see in how our bodies are handling it. I really haven't had any issues at all!!!

Cravings: NOPE
Fatigue: NOPE

Hubby on the other hand has been dealing with a lot of fatigue. He is a runner and never stops before his planned distance is finished... Mon, 23 Jul 2012 19:38:42 EST Day 1 Whole30 and My BLC Break Plans Today begins my 30 day challenge doing Whole30 from the book It Starts With Food.

I have been dealing with shoulder and heel issues for a couple years now and I must say it has been, to say the least, extremely frustrating. I have had been put on various meds, had cortisone shots in both and even had physical therapy. They are both a bit better but far from 100%.

I saw a post on Facebook about Whole30 and it looked interesting. Then I heard about the book so I downloade... Mon, 16 Jul 2012 19:46:59 EST BLC 19 Goals My biggest challenges I face for this round is traveling.

We will be traveling to Florida ( for my youngest sons graduation from college) and gone for 11 days. Then travel downstate for 3 days for a baby shower ( my first grandbaby!!). And that is just in the next 4 weeks.

Past history is that as soon as I get in the car I am eating junk and it continues till I get home. I can easily gain 10 lbs on one trip!!

My goals for this round:

1) NOT binging... Tue, 1 May 2012 19:25:55 EST Why?? Because I Am Worth It!! So the challenge this week was to actually write down reasons why I want to lose this weight.

Reasons

1) To Be Healthy :

Having a child be totally dependent on you makes you think twice about your health and your future. She completely depends on me to get her through each day. Even though she is very high functioning and even prefers to take care of me, she needs me for many many things throughout the day. If I don't take care of me and see the importance o... Sat, 12 Nov 2011 20:03:10 EST Mackinac Island Race = Pure Success!! This, by far had to be the most beautiful race we have done so far. With a wind storm and cold days leading up to race day we were a bit unsure about the weather. But race day could not have been more perfect! Sunny and 50 ish degrees.

We had traveled over to Mackinac City the night before so we could just get up early and catch the ferry over to Island. It was freezing that morning! So we had to have layers which then, really presented our only obstacle. We had to pack everything... Sun, 23 Oct 2011 16:55:44 EST Our 5K and Nicole and I showing off our BLING!!! As a last minute decision we decided to run a 5K today and what a great decision that turned out to be!! We had seen an advertisement for a 5K being sponsored by Lakestate Industries which is a place that helps people with disabilities with employment.

Well as parents of a child with disabilities this had special meaning so we decided we needed to do this.

Nicole was not feeling well yesterday so I didn't want to sign up early because I wasn't sure that she would be up... Sat, 8 Oct 2011 18:53:27 EST NOW Challenge- Good Bye Feelings of Inadequacy One of my worst habits is always looking at myself in a negative light. I spend too much time thinking about the things I don't like about myself and not enough time looking at the positive. Not just in the physical aspect such as my weight but it spreads to all aspects of my life. Am I a good enough mom, a good enough wife, am I doing enough for my daughter and meeting her needs and on and on.

And when I see all my fellow team members running marathons and half marathons that l... Fri, 27 May 2011 20:59:34 EST Sunset Stampede 5K All I can say is wow.......

I have been training here in the UP of Michigan where it has been in the 40's and 50's which is great running temps.

We get to Florida after 3 days on the road, unload the car, change clothes and head down to Navarre Beach to get our packets. I am obsessed with palm trees and the ocean so I am hyped about running in this whole atmosphere. Plus, I have only run one other 5K here in Gladstone and there were just a couple hundred people. This ra... Tue, 17 May 2011 23:05:11 EST The Dangling Carrot Several weeks ago I signed up for my second 5K race.....ever. I ran my first 5K in Oct and my goal was to do one by the time I turned 50. Well I turned 50 in January and am now running my second which I am pretty excited about! Especially because hubby is running with me!

The unexpected thing happened after I signed up. I found myself constantly thinking about the race and doing everything I can to be ready!! That includes not blowing the diet! I even got through Easter without d... Thu, 28 Apr 2011 13:21:13 EST Smile! It may change someones life! One of my teams has challenged us to be a blessing or encouragement to someone this week.

Well we went to Wal-Mart and when we got up to the checker she smiled and said 'Here are some of my favorite people"! I laughed and said Wow....Really? How do we rate? And her comment was that we were always happy and smiling! We had no idea she even remembered us!

Another quite different scenario: Last spring we went to the store to exchange some curtains that I had purchased. W... Thu, 16 Dec 2010 20:20:36 EST My First 5K! Well I did it!! My goal was to run a 5k before I turn 50 and I did it! Today was the Chase the Pumpkin 5k that I signed up for about a month ago.

It has been quiet a journey getting here! You see, I am not and never have been a runner.....until now!! With the encouragement of my CAMO CREW BLC team, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to try something new! I have always been one to set the bar high so you have something to reach for. Well this was definitely high! But I was going... Sat, 30 Oct 2010 18:17:12 EST My One Year Spark Anniversary! I can't believe it has been one year since I found this awesome site!!

This year in a nutshell:
I started my journey to help me get through the holidays without adding another pound to this body of mine!

My dad had been diagnosed with cancer 2 1/2 years earlier and was now gravely ill. We went downstate for Thanksgiving and ended up staying for 3 weeks thinking he was going to pass at anytime! It was such a stressful and emotional time being with him and just watchi... Thu, 7 Oct 2010 13:29:16 EST My Rev'd up weekend for BLC 14 First of all for whatever reason I am having a blonde weekend! I can't seem to remember each part of this challenge!! Therefor I missed out on a point Friday because I totally forgot the video part! So.....

R = rest...I have done well this weekend with rest. Not much going on so it was not hard to get at least my 7 hour requirement.

E = exercise....Had kind of a busy day on Friday but got in 30 minutes. Totally made up for it Saturday. Got my KenpoX in right away in the... Sun, 26 Sep 2010 22:29:40 EST Thank You SP!! I just got done baking 5 dozen cookies and 2 dozen dinner rolls! Normally I would have eaten cookie dough and who knows how many cookies. This is one area that I could totally lose control!

One of the biggest things that helped me is my SP teams! Just as if I was running a marathon, I could hear my teams encouraging me along the way with words of advice! What a HUGE help!!!

I just started 2 new challenges and I have done so well that I totally do NOT want to blow it!! So... Thu, 23 Sep 2010 21:32:26 EST My Miracle Twenty three years ago I was pregnant with my third child. I had 2 healthy boys at home and no reason to believe this birth would be any different. I suspected I was in labor at 9:00am and called hubby home from work. Labor was light enough that I didn't actually go to the hospital till late afternoon.

As I got closer the nurse checked how far I was dilated and she had a funny look on her face when feeling for the babies head. She didn't say anything but I distinctly remember the... Wed, 25 Aug 2010 13:43:50 EST What to do.......???? I have been doing P90X for several months. I did lose inches and truly got stronger but still need to get some of flab off that lays over these muscles that I am sure are there!!!LOL But the scales barely moved! So therein lies the dilemma.

We have switched up our workouts so we could be outside more. So lately I have been doing a 3 mile walk in the morning and a 4 mile bike ride in the evenings. NOW the scales are moving! This morning they were down 4 lbs from last week!! This... Sat, 24 Jul 2010 19:09:09 EST Vacation + Company = Setback UGH Having company for a week can be nice but also so frustrating! We had the in-laws here all week and as nice as it was to visit with them it was so hard because they can not get around well at all! Both have had knee and hip replacements and so we literally sat around almost all week and played cards. I felt like it would be rude to go off and workout so I didn't. My son and his girlfriend were also here and it was hard for them to sit around, but they did leave a few times to go for a bike ri... Mon, 12 Jul 2010 13:55:24 EST Life isn't fair!!!!
