ANNECEK's SparkPeople Blog ANNECEK's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community No Longer Complacent ;) I have been absent from SP for some time. I had become complacent because I was maintaining and not making any progress. I thought after loosing 120 lbs i could just drift along. Which I did for awhile... Then of course Halloween 431 happened and 429 get the picture. By the time New Year's 408 rolled around I had gained a good 11 pounds and my motivation was out the window. I tried a couple of times this month to get started but I always ... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 23:15:39 EST It's Fri and I'm still tracking! Today is Fri, TGIF and fast food Fri. Guess what, I'm still tracking. Hard to believe. I stopped tracking before when it got too overwhelming but right now, I'm still doing this. Went over with my calories last night but I was under for a couple of days and still lost on the old scale. Disclaimer: I had gone up with my weight and I didn't change my ticker. I don't usually change it unless I lose or go way beyond my range. Call me a ticker cheet. Anyway, I'm ready to make progress so I can mov... Fri, 24 Aug 2012 15:00:17 EST Time to buckle down. Hi everyone!

Yep, I took the summer off and basically found out I could do maintenance if I wanted to. I also found out that's OK but I'm not done yet. I still have another 50 pounds to lose. The kid's went back to school and it's time to get REAL. I need to track, track, track. It's the only way that I can make any progress. Sooo...on Mon I go back on plan and get a little militent.

Good-bye french fries, good-bye pizza for awhile. They will be worked back into plan wh... Fri, 17 Aug 2012 13:07:28 EST Still plugging away! 126 down ;) Hi all you sparkers out there! Yep, I'm finally writing a blog. I've been sparking from a distance and thought it was time to throw my 2 cents into cyberspace once again!

You may remember that I switched to full time back in March and my free time has kind of fluttered away. My job is ever changing and I am still getting oriented to the inner workings of being an RN in a administrative position for a home health company. Lots of challenges since my position is constantly evolving ... Sat, 16 Jun 2012 21:29:41 EST One-derland is possible and beyond!! Hello Spark friends,

I finally did it! I broke 200! After months of a see-saw up and down I have broken my plateau with a vengeance! What did I do?? I didn't starve myself that's for sure. I ate within my calorie range and exercised. The exercise I did was 60 minutes a day for 6-7 days. No momentous changes except that I kept my calcium intake within range. Strangely, that is my secret to success.

This week is also the end of Dr. Oz's transformation nation. It started ... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 19:48:01 EST Updates on my Recovery Things are coming along. I no longer use my immobilizer boot for day to day activity. I can usually walk some distances without a limp now. I still use the boot to exercise in after finding I'm not quite ready for Coach Nicole's 28 day DVD. I purchased it and Just Dance 3 from Kinect and was eager to start something new. I found I'm not quite ready for prolonged balancing on one foot and strained my other ankle. SHEESH! Not to worry, I just did some fruit ninja in the chair for a couple of ... Mon, 19 Mar 2012 12:19:19 EST Changes I believe I'm ready to become more active again on SparkPeople. I felt weighted down by the time involved on the computer and decided it was time for a separation. Thanks to Littlebjanet, I began to simplify in order to get a handle on my life. I got rid of the 6 daily emails which in the beginning sparked my motivation. The lift I received from streamlining was amazing. Don't get me wrong , those emails really helped but after a year they tend to repeat. I aslo wish to thank Patti441 for tak... Sat, 25 Feb 2012 12:38:58 EST Does Absence Make the Heart Fonder? I have been struggling lately with the "social" aspect of SP. Lately, the daily input to remain involved has caused a case of burnout for me. Don't get me wrong, I love SP and everyone involved. I haven't given up with my weight loss, tracking or fitness. It just seems that the time involved has gotten me down. I have been recovering from my foot injury and surgery and even started back to work this week. Mentally, I feel like a grey cloud is over my head. Part of that is my physical restric... Thu, 9 Feb 2012 13:43:25 EST Trying Walking Today After four weeks of crutches, this week I get to try to walk. Right away this morning, I put on my immobilizer boot and I walked/gimped to the kitchen. It was so nice to be able to use my hands to move dishes around and get food from the frig. You don't realize the importance of mobility until you are forced to lose it. My ankle screamed at me that it didn't like the abuse but I made it through breakfast. The incision on my foot also made itself known too. Then I made it back to my room for ... Tue, 24 Jan 2012 12:02:02 EST 3 weeks post-op On Tues, I saw the MD concerning my right foot. For those of you not familiar, I had surgery for a torn tendon in my foot from a small fracture in my foot. The good news, the incision looks great and is healing as to be expected. Bad news, 2 more weeks of crutches..bleck 198 I am allowed to stand on my foot for short periods but no pushing off for 1 week. Next week, I am to do short walking intervals and build to longer duration. Still doing non weight-bearing crutches in between. ... Thu, 19 Jan 2012 19:43:44 EST SP no longer has FB share button on blogs. I was showing my cousin how to opt out the share FB button and saw it was no longer on my Sparkpage. I checked at the official site and this option has completely been removed. Thank you everyone for voicing your opinion to to stop this option. I hope my friends that have gone private with their pages will reconsider going public again. I also hope that we will not loose members over this. Mon, 16 Jan 2012 13:44:34 EST Reasons for Celebrating! Thanks to my dd who helped me with this vlog! Hope the synch is better!

This is my first vlog so I was a bit nervous and I rambled at times. If you sit through and watch the whole thing, I appreciate it. Enjoy the fruit ninja! Wed, 11 Jan 2012 16:47:54 EST Reason's for Celebrating! See the other video, synch problem fixed Wed, 11 Jan 2012 15:48:28 EST Post-op and a New Year Hello out there in Spark land! I haven't written a blog in a long time and I thought why not!

Since having surgery to repair my torn tendon, Dec 28th, life has been a study of patience and tedium. My recovery requires 3 weeks of non-weight bearing on my right foot.

Crutches are the mobility aide of choice along with my old friend the immobilizer boot. If it doesn't fit in a bag that I carry around my back it doesn't get done. Loss of hands while moving from one place to... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 17:09:31 EST Death of a Scale? Caught you with that title didn't I? This blog has to do with a scale discrepancy that I have been dealing with for some time. 192

First of all, I have been using an older scale with a lithium (life-time) battery. From the beginning of my journey I have questioned the accuracy of my scale. My girls complained and I have obliged and I bought a new scale. The new one goes to .25 of a pound and the old one only to .5 of a pound.

Revelations with this process are ... Thu, 22 Dec 2011 20:58:48 EST Plans for Christmas and BEYOND..... Yes, Virginia there is a Christmas and it is looming on the horizon. I have presents bought but things have been different this year. My kids are older so the holiday has become difficult to shop for without breaking the bank and my stress threshold.

I'll start with the easiest one, my 14 year old. She put her Christmas list on my phone so I was sure to NOT miss it. Then she proceeded to put on it everything under the sun. The most notable thing a cell phone. I know, what I am a ... Tue, 20 Dec 2011 21:28:27 EST Thoughts on my birthday today! Yes, today is my birthday! 409 407 Since it is a week before Christmas it has always been over shadowed by the major holiday, as it should be. But growing up I had major birthday rules (and still do).

1. No Christmas - birthday cards.
2. No Christmas - birthday wrapping paper 19
3. No Christmas songs played at home or the radio until late in the night of my birthday.
4. The Christmas tree was put up on my birthday. Now I do it after T... Sun, 18 Dec 2011 10:37:43 EST 100 lbs lost, a work in progress! So as the title suggests, I have lost 100 pounds. Who would have thought it could be possible back in January 2011. Family and friends for years have watched me struggle with my weight problem. They have seen me yo-yo so many times, you couldn't blame them if they had a "wait and see" attitude. It seems that I was always missing something in pursuit of weight-loss success. I could loose up to 70 pounds but in the back of my mind there was always an "on-off" switch. I have always been afraid o... Sun, 4 Dec 2011 22:59:52 EST FITmas Evolved! Well as the title relates, FITmas has become an entity in it's own right. I have started a team dedicated to 10 minutes of exercise a day until the end of 2011. This team is designed to keep members motivated to continue their healthy lifestyles during the busy and often stressful, holiday season. 315

I believe a team was needed because the interest spiked and I would like to keep the power of that motivation alive. Please join us to make this holiday season fit and hap... Fri, 18 Nov 2011 21:35:46 EST Keep FITmas Alive! Some people are interested in a puplic place to track FITmas to foster accountability and a little community. So with that thought, I have started a place for everyone to chart FITmas and create a support group to get us through the holidays. Granted this is the first time I have done something like this so if anybody has any suggestions to have more fun while we are doing it, I'm all in!

I have put the challenge on the community challenge message board. Just look for the Merry FI... Thu, 17 Nov 2011 23:24:42 EST Merry FITmas!! I've been posting challenges and I thought it would be great to post it as a blog too!

There are approximately 6 and 1/2 weeks to the end of 2011. Instead of packing on the pounds, let's resolve to exercise 10 minutes a day until the end of the year! I don't know about you but once I get started, I do a full workout!! This is a way to get a jump on the New Year's resolutions!!! Just think at two pounds a week, that's 13 pounds! 216

Hey, we could even get t-shir... Wed, 16 Nov 2011 12:05:04 EST MRI bound. I have been dealing with a foot injury since Aug 27th and as many people know, been wearing an immobilizer boot. My Ortho doc saw me last Fri and feels that I have a probable tear in my tendon and wants an MRI to see what is up. I have been having more and more twinges even with the boot on which to him doesn't sound good. Possible plan: surgery with 6 wks on crutches, splint vs cast a potential outcome.

Sigh..... 40

What does that all mean to me? Lots of emoti... Sun, 13 Nov 2011 15:26:25 EST Pumpkin carving! My "Kids" age 22 to 11 did these pumkins. My 11 yr old son broke off the stem and decided to use it as a cigar, creative right?!?

We also found this link of singing pumpkins to LMFAO- party anthem and couldn't stop watching!

Enjoy and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! 431

Note: fixed link! Sun, 30 Oct 2011 16:29:51 EST From 4X, progress noted. As I sit on a plateau thinking, boy I need to break through this wall, I decided to do some retail therapy. Not something I could do while I was off work with my injury. But finances have gotten better and my husband gave me "permission" to go shopping. He sent me off with his blessing. He had been listening to me complain about how my clothes were hanging and falling off me...again. Let's just say he was getting tired of hearing it.

With coupons in hand, I went out with some drea... Sun, 23 Oct 2011 20:53:54 EST This and that, with pictures Well it is time to write another blog. I often have ideas for blogs but lately haven't put them down on the computer, so to speak.

As many people know, I have tendinitis in my right lateral foot by my ankle. I was scheduled to have the boot off last Fri with a follow-up here on the 14th with my ortho MD. Soon as I could, I whipped that boot off and thought free at last! So I am doing my errands ( we are talking w... Sun, 16 Oct 2011 21:36:43 EST Smoothies tonight! Got the SP cookbook and turned to the smoothie section right away. My 18 y.o. went out for some of the ingredients and her boyfriend wants her to bring him some. He works at the grocery store and was there when she was picking up supplies. I know ...CONNVEEEIENT, to quote the Church Lady. He is a good guy, so no worries. Anyway, I digress, we are having pumkin pie smoothies and cholate cherry. OOOO, sounds good! 471 493 289 Sat, 8 Oct 2011 20:52:32 EST My first official 5k walk (with pictures). Today was the 21st Annual Especially for you 5K walk/run for breast cancer research. This was my first official race with numbers and everything! I was awake and laying things out for my girls at 4:45 this am. Lots of nervous energy.

But lets back up a bit. I have wanted to do this walk since I started SparkPeople in Jan. With my mother a survivor of breast cancer and a dear friend with the diagnosis, this was a no brainer. My usual work-outs have been Kinect dance games but I was... Sun, 2 Oct 2011 17:39:38 EST Transformation Nation with Dr. Oz I had the TV on the other day and ran across the Dr. Oz show. He has a new weight loss incentive program that awards a million dollars to the biggest transformation in May. It is sponsored by Weight Watchers but you don't have to join. You get a complimentary weight done and option to stay for a meeting.

I opted to skip the meeting because I have no interest in their program. Anyway, a lot of the 7 points that Dr. Oz is using coincide with SparkPeople. My feeling is that any added... Sat, 1 Oct 2011 12:27:58 EST Just a quick update. Yesterday I wrote that I was going to try to do some exercise while wearing my foot immobilizer boot. Guess what! I was able to do it!! Over 40 minutes of Michael Jackson on Kinect!!! WooHoo!! I have so missed my dancing workouts!!! I think I can get through 3 weeks of wearing this thing now that I know I can do my Kinect dances!!

218 26 218 26 218 26 218 26 218 26 218</... Sun, 18 Sep 2011 21:25:37 EST Saw the ortho MD on Fri So I went to the ortho guy yesterday and he says I have tendonitis in my right lateral foot and I need to immobilize the site. So I now am sporting a knee-high immobilizer boot that weighs a good 7 pounds. It essentially keeps me from extending and flexing my foot. This process is going to take 3 weeks but I can finally return to work, yeah! 104

The thing can't be worn to drive in because I would be at fault if I got in any accident. 24

Can I exercise... Sat, 17 Sep 2011 17:41:07 EST I'm still around. Been down in the dumps due to my "mystery" injury of my right foot. It has taken me almost 2 weeks to get my attitude reformatted.

A little history: stress fracture right foot mid-July. That healed up after a week of down time then I discovered chair exercises. That got me through that bump.

Since Aug 27 I have been dealing with pain in my foot in a different area. I was doing my beloved dancing and took a simple side step and my foot went "pop" and I stumbled. The pain... Fri, 9 Sep 2011 13:53:10 EST Crazy Schedule I haven't been active as I would like on SP due to my changing schedule... sometimes by the hour. There has been a shuffle in my pediatric clients, new ones coming in etc. or canceling of shifts due to parents wanting more family time. This is called life! Sometimes I'm working 1 hr here, 2 hrs there then 12 hr shifts come out of the blue. My usual working hrs are 10 hr shifts 3 x per week.

So... SP has taken a bit of a back seat. I'm still tracking and staying in my limits and j... Thu, 18 Aug 2011 22:04:23 EST Who Says Exercise Can't Be Fun! Hi, my name is Annecek. I have battled being overweight most of my life. I grew up in a household of three brothers and one sister and eating was a sport. We were all involved in school sports and very active. My Mom was great at serving us all balanced meals in normal portions. We just knew how to help ourselves to more.

More led to being overweight all my childhood until I got to college Ever determined to make myself into the person I wanted to be, I increased my activity by ta... Wed, 10 Aug 2011 12:21:14 EST Journey to Mattress Nirvana. Don't anybody faint I'm writing a blog 2 days in a row!!! Write this event down! 195

Many of us have learned on our journey to a healthy lifestyle, that sleep is a very important ingredient. Well, in the pursuit of that perfect 8 hrs of slumber, 102 I recently went on a quest for the perfect mattress.

First a history of my old mattress. it was purchased in 2001 and was a clearance model. As many of you know who read my blogs, my writing skills are not desirable 198 . I guess if you get the gist of what I'm saying it's all worth while. 2

So I need to address my class reunion from last weekend. I was a little apprehensive, not having attended one of these things since I was 23. This was my 30th class reunion! I bought an outfit that made me feel confident and I was ready!

We dr... Sat, 6 Aug 2011 23:01:20 EST Bump in the road averted. Update, update, update. Where to begin.....
40 It was really touch and go, I took a week of exercise off. Seemed like forever on the stress meter, allowing for the swelling in my foot to go down. My weight stayed the same during that week so I basically maintained by being careful what I ate and eating 100-200 calories a day less.

My cracked foot is now allowing me to do cardio! 224 I spent some time doing chair exercise, thanks chair exercise team for ... Sun, 24 Jul 2011 20:47:31 EST Aaagh! Major Roadblock! Caution ... some whining!

It's Sun pm and I try my new kettlebell workout. It was really very good and I did 20 min to start. Then I decided to round it off with a 20 min Zumba workout on the kinnect. I had been having trouble with my right big toe bothering me but hey, I am over 40, muscle-sketal problems R-Us. Finished the dance and toed off my left shoe with the right. BIG MISTAKE, I felt a pop in my foot.

So here it is Mon and pain hasn't let up through the night a... Wed, 13 Jul 2011 16:30:22 EST Travels to Chicago I went to Chicago this past week to visit my brother and his wife before they move out of the country. My family and my daughters boyfriend all went for our treck with little planning. 198 We kind of had an idea what we wanted to do but we were working on getting 4 schedules to work out for the time off. Let just say when the time off was established we went for it.

Armed with ideas and smartphones we went East. I didn't even have my maps printed out ahead of time lik... Sun, 10 Jul 2011 17:20:09 EST 73 lbs down 100 to go. Yep, that's right woohoo! I've "just" got 100 lbs to go. I'm not really at midpoint but still it is on the right track.

I've been lucky to be consistent. I think tracking my food on my phone with the SP ap is the beat thing. It keeps me honest and it is so quick. I don't think I have ever been able to track my food more than 4 wks. Here I'm going on 7 months by July 11th.

The most I ever lost in the past on a diet was 70 lbs and I have surpassed that. My family is ho... Wed, 29 Jun 2011 01:07:07 EST This and that...caution some whining and some celebration. Last weekend we went out with friends to celebrate a birthday. Dinner was at 7pm and bar food. They did have salads and the like but lets face it ... I couldn't wait. I ate at 5:30 after work. I ended up drinking water (with lime) during the meal. Everyone was concerned that I wasn't eating. Even my dh tried to feed me from his plate. It did smell REALLY good and tempting. The nacho plate was literally 12 inches tall on a huge platter, I kid you not. I had planned to drink some beer so I tol... Thu, 23 Jun 2011 23:23:04 EST Weird pattern. Lately, I have been afraid of the dreaded plateau. I have been doing my tracking and keeping up with my goal with 5 out of 7 days of exercise @ 45 min each. But....I go about 2 wks where I go up .5 then up 2 then down 1 then down point .5 and so on. By the time my weigh in comes I equalize and loose .5 (sigh). You think, ok quit weighing yourself so much! Well here is the kicker...I do this stuff for about 2 wks and then I drop 4 lbs. Too weird (I know I said that already). If you think about... Mon, 20 Jun 2011 23:08:36 EST New for me... grilled veggies. Hi everybody! I haven't written in awhile.

Tonight I went to the farmers market and bought some tomato's and asparagus and decided to grill out. For once it hasn't been raining in the evening. I looked at what else I had to grill and ended up doing hamburgers (for my carnivores) and skewered shrimp. My marinade of choice, fat free Italian dressing. Used the dressing on the veggies and the shrimp. Hamburgers got the same old treatment they usually get, for my carnivores that abhor... Wed, 15 Jun 2011 20:54:05 EST Operation active summer, phase 1- with pictures I have pledged to myself and my children that we will have an active summer. My goals are to get out with my kids 1-2 times minimum to do some type of active activity per week. For example, Mon I started to teach my two youngest to play tennis. Another activity ideais to take them to area parks with the dog and go on the various trails to do hikes.

Today we went to a park by the river and I was worried after days of rain that it would be a muddy mess. On the contrary, the day was... Fri, 10 Jun 2011 15:28:23 EST Spreading the spark at the MD office. It's that time of year again...the dreaded yearly woman's physical. You know, poked and prodded and smashed. I have to say that everything went better because I was telling everyone about sparkpeople. Even during my mammogram, which was easier since there was less tissue to smoosh. 246 Then they took my weight and the nurse did a double- take. When it was time to go to see the nurse practitioner, I aced the lifestyle questions because all I talked about was SP. The nurse practitio... Graduation and resulting party is near. Attempting to continue Sparking everyday and exercising. It's been hard trying to find time to eat and sleep. Projects never seem to be done but everyday whittling a little more off the list. I feel I have to go to work to take a break.! Hit the 60 lb loss mark today, woohoo. Sorry for the jumbled blog. Next week is going to be so much better. 20 Tue, 24 May 2011 00:10:40 EST Sent her to prom. Sniff, my baby went to prom. She got her hair done and donned her bling and flowers and off she went with her boyfriend. They looked so cute together, see my page for pictures. He was really special to her and spent the whole day with her, through pouring, chilly weather for her soccer game to the salon hair appointment.

Still working toward graduation and home improvement projects are being crossed off the list. These last 2 days have been unseasonably hot and the need to wear my flip-flops won out. I have always admired people who have their toenails done, i.e. pedicure /polish etc. My problem has been reaching over the roles of flab to get to my toenails let alone trim them. Sad image, I know. My lowest point was when I asked my husband to trim them for me because I just couldn't get there. He said no and gave me the look! You know the one,the one that says don't you think you should lose some weig... Thu, 12 May 2011 00:13:06 EST Time clock ticking. Well my daughter will graduate soon and the time is ticking away. We are having a reception at our house and the stress level is at a new high. I feel we have painted every surface we can but everyday something new pops up. I have lost count how many spindles I have painted on three decks.

The most important thing that I have to watch is remembering to eat. Thu, 5 May 2011 22:08:39 EST Purchased Michael Jackson for Kinnect My reward for loosing 50 lbs was to purchase the Michael Jackson Experience for Kinnect. I figured a dollar a lb was a good goal. Played it tonight and I did OK except the singing was a total zero. I think I didn't enable the microphone...I hope. Otherwise there is no hope for my singing. The dancing was really fun and I got to embarrass myself doing body rolls in front of my daughter's boyfriend. Hey, I got a few "perfects." He knew the body rolls were coming up somewhere and got to watch my... Thu, 28 Apr 2011 23:53:54 EST
