I have been on Spark People for awhile but not using it as much as I should. I purchased the book hoping to get back into the program.

It was interesting to go through the first week and try to make changes that my family wouldn't mind also. I made the One-Dish Dinner: Southwestern Chicken and Rice for my children (12 & 17) and myself and was ner... Mon, 20 May 2013 13:50:59 EST Getting Back after an Injure http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4210912 This has been a rough year for me. I've had 3 injures in 3 months (bruised my tailbone in Jan, sprained my left ankle in Feb, and strained my right hamstring in March). After my last injure, I finally took some time off.

Not only is it hard to take the time off, it is so hard going back and not being able to do what I did before. Tonight was the second time back on the mat. It's frustrating that after stretching, I am still struggling with a lot of my kicks.

I kn... Wed, 4 May 2011 21:58:26 EST Recommitment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3876104 Two years ago, I did very well losing weight for my brothers wedding. But afterwards, I wasn't tracking what I was eating (and drinking). So I backslided and am back where I started.

I know what I need to do and I know that I can do it. I did it before.

I took the first step and updated my weight for the first time in over a year. I am taking control. I will start off small with drinking more water and a little exercise each day. Taking each day as it comes. Sat, 1 Jan 2011 09:30:11 EST Small Victory http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3714707 Last night after TKD class, I was feeling runned down and still needed to get the kids ready for the next day. I was headed to the frig to grab a soda as a quick burst of energy, but I turned around and said that I didn't need it. A small victory, but hopefully there will be more to follow. Thu, 14 Oct 2010 10:03:10 EST It's been awhile! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2497164 I was doing so well at logging my food and watching what I ate and generally being healthy until the end of summer. Then I fell apart. Vacation, getting the kids ready for school, going back to the active fall schedule, my brother's wedding. There seems to be an endless number of excuses. This is also the first school year that my husband is working full time during the day. I know that these are only excuses and that I need to overcome them. I know that I need to take one step at a tim... Wed, 21 Oct 2009 14:42:38 EST Feeling of Achievement http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2325591 I can't believe how great I feel. It has been 3 days since I earned my black belt in taekwondo, but I still feel like I am glowing with pride. I sit a little straighter; I stand a little taller. When I look back, I didn't think that I would be able to get this far. But with each class, I pushed a little further and worked a little harder. It is amazing how fast those little steps add up! I know that the journey is not over. In a way, it is only beginning. There are new challenges and ... Tue, 18 Aug 2009 11:15:23 EST The One Flaw In Women http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2233630 A friend sent this to me which all women should read:

The One Flaw In Women

By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
'Why are you spending so much time on this one?'
And the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
... Thu, 16 Jul 2009 10:46:37 EST It's Working http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2164233 I've been able to reach my first goal. I can't believe that I was able to lose 14 lbs. But now that I've done it, I'm not done. My next goal is 5 lbs since it is the summer and it is a little more difficult to stay on track. But my long-term goal is to lose another 15 lbs. I would be back to my college weight. That would be so exciting. I know I can do it!! Fri, 19 Jun 2009 11:52:07 EST Great Start http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2001985 I've been doing this for only 2 weeks but what a difference it has made. I have lost 6 pounds and feel great about myself. I've been finding little pieces of inspiration that keep me going. Fri, 24 Apr 2009 09:08:46 EST New to this http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1975490 I'm not sure about all of this. Normally I keep things pretty personally, but I think that is why I don't stick with it. Hopefully by putting this in writing, I will hold myself accountable. Wed, 15 Apr 2009 14:01:27 EST
