I was upset with myself for regaining 17 pounds, and I was ready to get back on track.

On October 10th, I stopped at Planet Fitness during my lunch hour and took a tour of their facility. I liked what I saw. I also had recommendations from friends who had joined there, and they really liked it. I especially like their stance against "gym-timidation" as they call it. I joined Planet Fitness before leaving the building, and I e... Tue, 1 Apr 2014 09:56:11 EST Why Can't I Do This? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5500300 I *can* do this. That's the thing. I know that I can. In March, I hit my goal. It wasn't the number on the scale that I originally set for my goal. However, I was happy with how I looked and how I felt. It was good.

Then I stopped.... tracking food... exercising regularly... everything. Why? I honestly don't know. I've now regained 17 pounds, and my clothes are telling me that I have to do something. I've been trying to get back on the exercise wagon for three week... Mon, 30 Sep 2013 12:25:57 EST I Finally Had To Do It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5396276 So, I lost 71 pounds and felt great about it! So what did I do? Slacked off on exercising and eating right. I gained back 10 pounds. No, that isn't much, but I am so mad at myself for letting it happen! I have been back on track for the past 2.5 weeks. I re-lost 4 of those pounds. Then I keeping going back and forth though on 2 of those... gain... lose... gain .... lose.... ARGH!

I'm one of those people who weighs in every day. I know that all the experts say that w... There are so few pictures of me over the years. I made sure that I was always the one taking the pictures so that I wouldn't be in them. I wish that I had read this many years ago. Sun, 3 Feb 2013 10:45:13 EST Meeting Other Sparkers http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5131568 Wow... I am really bad at blogging. LOL. I have all of these great thoughts, but I just never seem to sit down and type them all out.

Yesterday I went to a meetup with other Sparkers. I went with the hope that it would be the kick in the butt that I needed to get going and be diligent again. I've been slacking the last two months and gained a few pounds. That is usually my cliff... where I just fall off the edge and give up completely. The meetup worked! I left the library... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 13:16:13 EST Curves update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5100921 Well, I did it... I went back last week for my fitness assessment. They weighed me, measured me, and asked lots of questions. We talked about goals and commitment.

(Bit of a side note here... I have only ever measured my waist once, and it wasn't when I was at my highest weight. I was too chicken to do that. Of course, now I wish I would have! However, I did measure my waist July 2011. When she measured me last week, it was 5.5" smaller! Wow! I had no idea it was THAT... Tue, 16 Oct 2012 07:39:25 EST Now I've Done It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5085257
In case you didn't know, my doctor has been monitoring my weight loss. I go and see him once a month for progress reports and to make sure I'm staying healthy. It was helping me to stay on track as I know that I will have to explain myself if I don't lose any weight.

When I went for my appointment a month ago, I had only lost about 4 pounds. Yes, this isn't bad, but he and I were both hoping for more. Then I got sick, and I was baasically off plan for two weeks. That s... Wed, 3 Oct 2012 13:19:37 EST It hasn't sunk in yet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5050973 Last weekend I noticed that my shorts were pretty loose, so just for 'fun' I decided to go try on the next size smaller. They fit! The part that hasn't sunk in yet, though.... They are a size 8!

I cannot even remember the last time that I wore a size 8. I believe I was a size 10 when I got married 16+ years ago. That's just the way I am and have always been. Because of that, I used to weigh myself every day. I had to see those numbers.

I am trying to now limit myself to weigh in once a week... every Friday. It does drive me insane a little bit. LOL

However, this morning I had one of those moments when I realize that there are a lot of other things besides the number on the scale that can show progress.

Not too long ago ... Tue, 3 Jan 2012 08:29:22 EST Has Anyone Tried Curves? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4433503 I have always resisted the gym. New clothes can make you look and feel better. We're all on this journey. Who wants to keep buying a new wardrobe everytime they go down a size in clothes? It can get expensive. We want to buy that wardrobe when we hit our ultimate goal.

However, we do have to buy a few pieces here and there in order to get by. That puts me just one pound away from where I was a year ago at this time. Only one more pound to have re-lost the weight that I regained over the past year. Wow! I didn't think I would make it this far.

When I recommitted to SparkPeople and my weight loss journey at the beginning of the year, I was so mad and disappointed in myself. Sun, 17 Apr 2011 20:15:15 EST Just Thinking "Out Loud" http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4148647
I really need to get back to strength training. I know how important it is and how much it will actually help me in my weight loss journey. I just don't like it. It's really hard to do something that you don't like. I started out great. I participated in the SP 28 day BootCamp workout challenge in February. That had me doing strength training in one area every day for the whole month. In March, I created my own calendar and picked out different strength training videos on SP that... I was sick for three days, and I was out of town for another three days. I thought that I did my best to not veer too far off the path. Let's see how I did overall:

My daily calorie goal was 1450-1800. For the month of March, my average daily calorie intake was 1829. (On the days I was able to track.) Oops! I had the worst head cold you could imagine. Thankfully, I had already completed my exercise for the day. However, I had to take the next three days off from exercising.

Unfortunately (ha!) I was not sick to my stomach. This head cold seemed to make me hungrier than ever. I ate so much over the three days! Of course, I didn't pick the best foods, either.

I'm not beating myself up over it, though. I'm feeling better ... Who wants to go to McD's at various times of the day and night? Not me! So when I went to the store today, I picked up the stuff to make my own.

I mixed Yoplait fat free vanilla yogurt and frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries). I had some personal issues at home (that are now wonderfully resolved, thankfully!), plus I've been working 55+ hours a week again. It's hard to get any exercise in when you are working 10 or more hours a day, and working 6-7 hours a day. I add a new paperclip for every pound that I lose. I change the paperclip color after every ten pounds.

It is awesome to watch the chain grow! I can't wait until it's longer than the top of my desk. Then I'll have to start draping i... Sat, 23 Jan 2010 12:38:52 EST Visual Motivation and Competition http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2759351
Two of the biggest things that keep me going are visual motivators and healthy competition.

I purchased a poster size full year calendar. Every day that Brandon (my husband) or I do at least thirty minutes of cardio exercise, we get to put a star on that day on the calendar. He uses green, and I use blue. Those are our favorite colors. It hangs on our bedroom wall where I can see it as soon as I wake up in the morning. Seeing the stars grow every day is great incentive t... Sun, 17 Jan 2010 21:42:45 EST What a topsy turvy crazy year it's been! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2751093
I joined SparkPeople at the beginning of September 2008. By February 2009, I had lost 45 pounds. I was feeling great and starting to like the way that I looked. Unfortunately, my work life exploded in January 2009, as I posted in a previous blog entry. I was working 60-70 hours a week. All that I did was work and sleep. I didn't have time to exercise. I was too tired. I also started eat all of the wrong things. I'm a stress-eater. I admit it. I ended up regaining 29 pounds. ... Fri, 15 Jan 2010 19:50:16 EST Time to Recommit... For Real http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2374315
Remember me? I'm sad to say that I fell off the SparkPeople wagon. I love this site and all of you. It's because of this website and this team that I lost 45 pounds from last September through January. I tried to get back to it in March (my last blog post), and I lasted a whole day and a half.

Unfortunately, in January work exploded. I was working 60-70 hours a week. If I wanted to spend time with my kids, then there was no time for exercise. I also fell back into a ba... Fri, 4 Sep 2009 19:26:05 EST Today is the day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1862307 Hello to all of my SparkFriends!

You may have noticed that I've not been around lately. Since New Year's, work has been crazy busy. I've been working anywhere from 60 - 70 hours per week. I've been way too tired to exercise. I've also let old habits creep back in. I'm a stress eater. And what's better to eat when you're stressed than really fatty, greasy food? Well, that's they way I always thought for years. That's what I fell back to these past couple of months. I have m... Mon, 9 Mar 2009 07:52:43 EST I did it!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1697457
I weighed in at 159 this morning! Woohoo! I haven't weighed under 160 since before I was pregnant with my first child back in 1995.

Some days I just sit here and think, "I can't believe I'm actually doing this." Then I just have to look in the mirror, and see that I really am!

YOU can do this, too! Wed, 14 Jan 2009 08:17:06 EST Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1692022 Well, I've made it through Week 1 of the New You Bootcamp. It's really helped me to get my strength training in.

It's interesting using an exercise ball. I have never used one before. I really wasn't interested in using one. However, I picked on up at Wal-Mart for $10. I actually find it fun. I'm enjoying using it. It makes Strength Training more enjoyable. This is a good thing! That's the hard part for me.

Anyway, I started the week at 166, and I am now at 16... Mon, 12 Jan 2009 21:45:31 EST New You BootCamp http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1652153
How many of you are participating in SparkPeople's New You BootCamp? I've decided to give it a shot. I hate watching videos on the computer, but I thought I could give it a shot for 10 minutes a day.

I gained some weight back over the holidays, so I'm back to 166 pounds at the start of the bootcamp. By the end of it (January 31st), I hope to be at 156. That would be ten pounds. That would put me within a couple of pounds of my weight both before I got married and before ... Sun, 4 Jan 2009 12:14:09 EST Happy Anniversary! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1644297 Today is my 13th wedding anniversary. The hubby and I are celebrating (as we do every year) by watching a 'marathon' of our creation on tv and going out to eat. This year we are watching the first season of Survivor. Wow! That show has changed a lot since it first aired.

I realized something today, though.... I am only about 10 pounds heavier than I was when we got married. That is some incentive! I can't wait to weigh less than I did on my wedding day.

Fri, 2 Jan 2009 14:24:50 EST Went shopping today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1630798 I received a VISA gift card for Christmas, so I decided to go shopping today. As I've said before, I'm not really much of a shopper, but I was hoping to catch some good after Christmas sales to help add some better fitting clothes into my wardrobe. I plan on getting a whole new wardrobe once I reach my ulitmate goal weight. (I've been saving my pennies... literally... and nickles, dimes, and quarters!) However, I do need to supplement my wardrobe here and there until I reach my final ... Mon, 29 Dec 2008 19:10:56 EST
