I needed some strategies to quit my (bad) habits. From what I've found, it seems to be all in the hands. If I keep them busy I do really well about not snacking my brains out. Here's what worked for me, so far:

1. Clean out a closet. Oh my, yes.

2. Go through clothes and house and donate to Goodwill. I happen to like running on the treadmill for a couple of reasons and they are generally my right and my left knees. So my road running has been limited to a few jaunts with my pal Maggie the dog. But I found myself wondering why I just didn’t go on the road/trail/sidewalk more, because hey—my knees feel okay and all that fresh air is swell—and when I looked deep inside I found I was embarrassed to be out jogging my miles in *gasp* (insert voice of doom) "the public". Mon, 18 Feb 2013 23:07:13 EST 5K to 10K Training Programs? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5254015 I'm taking a month and going back to the nitty-gritty of running a 5K. Since I basically like to be prepared (read: worry about it for the next 4 weeks), I need to ask the question: are there any good 5K- to-10K programs? Any help?

Just curious--I suppose I could kick it old school and just not go over the 1% increase in mileage until I reach the 10K mark, but where'... It's a four-fer: gets me out and keeps me active, plus I have to interact with (gadzooks!!) people. AND I can see all the new books come in. Woo-hoo!

All my years of being a library patron, I never thought about what the staff does or what action goes on behind-the-scenes. This morning was a prime example. Went happily into Stage 4 before I read about it. Oops. Here's the thing, I inherently know what I must do, it's the act of doing and maintaining I'm having issues with. I keep bumping up against something inside that asks: do you really want this? And the only answer I have is: Maybe?

So I think another round of Stage 3 for me. I still have some learning (and understanding) to...
