My focus this week has been on drinking more water. Here are my answers to the next two questions:

4) How are you doing day by day?
This really is a day-by-day thing for me. I say it's easy to incorporate water and it really *should* be, but for me, it's so not. I can do above and beyond one day (Monday), and then revert back to no water (Tuesday), and then I'm right back up there today. Consistency is a problem for me not just in this habi... Drink some dang water, that's how I'll do it! But I need to be more AWARE of what I'm drinking and incorporate water into my routine to make ... Mon, 4 Mar 2013 16:52:36 EST 5% Challenge Blog #1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5270062 Question: What new habit you wish to develop?

Well, after having water being our Living the Good Life challenge last week, I realize that I absolutely do NOT drink enough water every day. There are even some days where I don't drink water AT ALL. For someone who is trying to get healthy, this simple act seems to allude me. And I have no idea why.

You might be wondering how in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks I can go for a full day without drinking water? Let me tell yo... It has been a few days since I've started on this new adventure, but I find myself making progress.

I signed up for another 5K...it is the Firefly 5K that I mentioned in my previous blog. I had wanted to sign up for it when I saw a Groupon for it and asked my coworker, who is also running races this year, if she would run it with me. She said she had run it before in the past and they ran out of water. ... I’m Amy and I’ve realized I have GOT to get back into this whole get healthy thing.

So I’ve basically determined that I have to start over. And by that, I mean I have crept up in weight for the last few years and I am sick of it. What worked for me last time? That Medifast diet that totally worked but that I will probably never do again in my life, and running. So since I’m not going to do the hard core liquid-ty... I usually go into these screenings prepared to hear the worst, but I think that today’s news wasn’t *too* bad…

My BMI is HIGH. I could have told them that, so this number was something I was ready for. My blood pressure was also a little high (130/74), but I TOTALLY blame that on the fact that my appointment for the screening was schedule... Tue, 9 Oct 2012 12:24:12 EST Four years ago today... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4820518 Four years ago today, I was in the best shape of my LIFE! At my smallest, I weighed 129 pounds after tipping the scales at 217 pounds. I had been on the Medifast “diet” for eight months and was just getting used to being skinny. I was living in Virginia, working and trying to do my thing, whatever that was. I had very few friends (I really only hung out with Brenda!), was alone/by myself a lot outside of work, I didn’t have a boyfriend and although I was skinny, that didn’t necessarily me... Well, I did it!! I was a little nervous because it was my first time actually being able to get into my work gym facility AND it was my first try at kickboxing, but it all turned out GREAT! My badge finally worked and I was able to go right on in, change out of my work clothes and into my workOUT clothes and went into the group exercise room. I was a little thrown ... We weren’t working out, and he was getting a belly. I don’t want to say he is “small,” but he is about 5’8” and has a thin frame, so the belly was getting noticeable. My cholesterol is improving, although my HDL (the “good” kind) is still kind of low, so I need to keep working on that. Also, my triglycerides are now in a normal range, which is great because last year they were a smidge out of control. My thyroid levels were also good, so there was no need to adjust my meds. Mon, 6 Jun 2011 12:37:00 EST Gripe about the fridge at work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4269948 So I bring my lunch to work everyday. We have refrigerators on every floor for folks to put stuff in, and I frequent the fridge every morning to put my usual sandwich, carrots and string cheese in there. Now, that is all I put in there, but I am becoming increasingly frustrated with people putting their whole dang lunch bags in there! You know, the bulky cloth kinds? UGH! Tue, 17 May 2011 13:36:56 EST Oh the weather outside is frightful... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4226522 So it's DEFINITELY not Christmas here in Texas, but it is getting close to summer and we have been getting major storms. This afternoon, another one rolled through and brought high winds, tons of rain, thunder, lightning, the works, for several hours straight. Although there wasn't any hail or any tornadoes, I was not feeling going out in the rain! Now, you may be thinking, "But Amy, what about your Zumba class?! We used to live right by there, and had a route we would run while training for a 5K. I know my blogs this week are supposed to be positive, but MAN today is just not going in that direction. The weather here SUCKS...it's cloudy and rainy and humid as all get out. I'm not feeling well this morning, either. AND I forgot my headphones at home so I can't listen to my favorite radio morning show podcasts at work. Thu, 24 Feb 2011 09:08:12 EST Getting back into it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4040766 I've been resting my foot since my Monday morning workout. Since my foot was feeling better, I got up this morning to hit the gym (work from home day!) and jumped on the treadmill to do some running/walking intrevals and about 12 minutes in my foot started hurting AGAIN!!! Grrrr! Panicked, I walked the rest of the 30 minutes because I REALLY want to go to Zumba tonight because a) it is SUPER fun and b) it's one of my commitments! So I took it a little easier the rest of the time, and then...
