Tue, 15 Jan 2013 07:21:57 EST December Recap & January Goals November 30th Weight: 177.5
December 31st Weight: 178.5

Well, up a pound, not the best at all, but considering I was up at least 4 more lbs earlier from eating and eating, I guess it's okay.

Here are my goals for the new year:
I would like to lose about 50 lbs to weigh around 130ish by November 2013. I will do this by
DAILY:
- 45 minutes of exercise (30 cardio; 15 ST)
- eating no more than 2100 calories
- planning the next day's menu every ... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 12:19:46 EST A Little Late, But A 30 Day No Chocolate Challenge I should have started this for December, but shoulda, woulda, coulda....

anyway, because I have been down lately, I have had a bigger tendency to binge, and I have been noticing that chocolate is among the major culprits. I love, love, love chocolate and unfortunately can't stop with a "reasonable" amount.

So, for the next 30 days, I'm challenging myself to give up chocolate. No more chocolate chips, nothing with chocolate (like cakes, cookies, fudge, etc.). The only thi... Somehow, i stumbled upon and I have been listening to their podcasts and they have really changed the way I think about weight loss.

In the past, I have been focused so much on the numbers on the scale and for some reason I really wanted to be around 165 for my trip home in Jan... I was hoping to be under 180 starting November, but at least I am moving in the right direction.

I booked flights back home for January, and I AM SO THRILLED TO BE GOING BACK TO THE US!

For November & December, I'm hoping to 17 lbs. I know this will be a st... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 04:40:20 EST September Recap & October Goals August 31st Weight: 187.5
September 31st Weight: 188.25

Total Weight Loss: NONE - a 3/4 lb gain :(

This was a tough month for me, there were a few trouble spots that I just couldn't seem to snap out of: my mother visited me and made lots of good food that I couldn't resist; we as a family ate out more than a few times this month, and I was only too happy to eat along with everyone else; my husband was away on business for almost a week and had another hectic week at... Sun, 30 Sep 2012 17:15:38 EST Know Your Numbers - Fall 5% Challenge Here is what my "Goals & Progress" section on my start page looks like now:
Goal to eat 1410 - 1760 calories per day, 0 eaten today
Goal to burn 2700 calories per week, 0 burned this week
Goal to go from 230 to 176 by 11/24/2012, Last weigh-in 187*

*Edited to add: My "final" goal is 140, so I have a LONG way to go, the above goal
is just for the challenge, the next 8 weeks. Thx for everything, my spark friends! Sun, 23 Sep 2012 05:32:25 EST My Triggers (Per the Fall 5% Challenge) So many trigger foods and situations, where to start??

I tend to do very well with eating through the morning, but things start to unravel during the afternoon. I can keep to my calorie ranges for breakfast and lunch, but at around 2pm, I start to want to eat and can't seem to stop. Maybe it's getting ready for the kids to come home from school or starting to think about dinner prep, but something about the 2-6pm time frame, I can't stop eating. I usually eat about 1,000 calories d... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 05:19:57 EST 6 Months Update Quick update, I already blogged today, so this is a total record for me! I have been actively trying to lose weight for the last six months. in that time, i have:

- logged into SP EVERY DAY!
- went from 230 lbs to 187.5 = 42.5 lbs LOST!
- got 500 fitness minutes for March, April, May, June, July & August
- got 1000 fitness minutes for May, June, July & August
- FINALLY incorporated Strength Training in July, SO HAPPY I did this!!
- started making weightloss... Fri, 31 Aug 2012 05:33:28 EST August Recap & Sept Goals July 31st WI: 194.25
August 31th WI: 187.5

Total Weight Loss: 7 lbs

My target weight was 186.5, so even though I was one pound away, I'm pretty happy with August. Lots of things clicked for me during this month. I was faithful to my strength training routine, which I have always struggled with in the past. In fact, I bought a new DVD a few days ago (Amy Bento's Drop Rep Strength), have only done it once, but was sore for 2 DAYS, so it is going into the regular rotat... Fri, 31 Aug 2012 03:31:50 EST July Recap & August Plans June 30 WI: 198.5
July 31st WI: 194.25

July Loss: 4.25

July was, pounds wise, not as successful as I would have hoped. I was shooting for an 8 lb loss, but I did have at least 3 binges during the month and was over calorie wise many days.

But, in other ways, it was pretty successful. I have been wanting to add strength training into my routine, but it just hadn't been happening on a consistent basis. I bought a used set of dumbells, from 1kg to 10 kg (x2... Tue, 31 Jul 2012 03:19:14 EST The Scale Is Finally JUST A TOOL! I think being without a scale for 4 months really helped me have a more normal relationship with the scale. I weigh myself every day (only once, not repeatedly, like I used to do) and record that weight.

I don't have a "weigh in" day. In the past, I used to weigh-in, then loosen up my eating right after weigh in, and be super stringent with my eating for two days before weigh in. I would get extremely frustrated if the scale showed a gain or stayed the same.

Now, I just... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 04:12:42 EST Day 121 - Onderland & June Recap & July Goals SW: 230
Current Weight: 198.5
Total Loss: 31.5

For June, I was very worried because my BIL was visiting for 13 days. I exercise entirely at home in my living room and don't feel comfortable working out in front of anyone, so I was afraid that I would just drop the ball and sit around for those 13 days. Well, I didn't!! For 11 of those days, I either squeezed in a workout when he was out, moved my husbands' laptop into our bedroom to do DVDs there or asked him to go upsta... Sat, 30 Jun 2012 05:07:43 EST Bought a Scale! Well, I resisted for about as long as I could - I bought a scale today, it was SOOOO EXPENSIVE, about 45 dollars in US currency! Don't know what I was thinking, but anyway, here I am!

I weighed myself, I have lost about 25 lbs in about 3 months and 3 weeks, so I guess almost 4 months. I probably have lost more than that, because when we first moved here, I went a bit crazy trying out all of the new desserts (my weakness is my sweet tooth!), so I'm sure I weighed more than 230, I am... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 12:59:04 EST SO UPSET - I weighed myself! For those of you who don't know my saga, I moved and dont' have a scale. After much agonizing, I decided I wouldn't purchase one since our overseas move is only for 2 years, and when I posted, most of you said you wished you weren't tied to the scale. And I have wished this too, at home. So, no scale.

I walked to the dr, which is not really convienent to my house for the sole purpose of weighing myself because I'm starting to fixate on the tape measure instead of the scale and sin... Fri, 11 May 2012 11:14:04 EST Week #8 - 4/22/2012 Doing great, keeping up with food tracking and exercise for the last two weeks. We went on vacation during easter and it really hindered me. We have lots of mini (4 or 5 day trips) trips planned for the rest of 2012 and I realized unless I have some sort of plan, I will wind up undoing all of my hard won progress with every mini vacation. I really have to work hard to keep myself on track during these times with my family. It doesn't matter if everyone wants to eat out all of the time, I don... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 09:25:50 EST Week #4 - march 25 WOW _ WHAT A CRAPPY WEEK! I only exercised for 4 days and ate consistently over my calorie range by A LOT for five days. Now, I know I'm PMSing, but honestly, that is NO EXCUSE! I was going to start this week fresh by trying to stay within my eating range, and I blew it right away today, Sunday! It started with getting some individually wrapped marshmellow cakes, well, I ate the whole pack! I truly to have to learn that there is no such thing as moderation for me and sweets. i was reading on ... Sun, 25 Mar 2012 17:38:57 EST Week #3 - Still Going Strong Doing well with exercise - did it 7 days this past week, but planning to take tomorrow off.

I did have two days of what I would call binge eating. At one, I sat in front of the computer (Spark People, no less!) and ate an entire sleeve of cookies, plus a few bags of low cal chips and two diet sodas. I did track them, which I have never done before. Once I binge, I tend to "look the other way", stop tracking and pretty much avoid any accountability.

Today I am feeling s... Sat, 17 Mar 2012 14:20:32 EST Week #2 - What a difference a week makes! It's amazing, really, how much fitter and happier and calmer you can feel with just 5 days of steady, appropriate exercise! I look forward to it the second I get out of bed. But I can't always manage it until around 7pm. That's when I've been doing the bulk of my exercising this week, except for the last two days.

I came down with a stomach bug that blew me off course in terms of exercise (too little of it) and calories (also too little consumed). But the beginning of the week was ... Sat, 10 Mar 2012 16:00:17 EST Week #1 - Exercising Goals It's been a long time coming...about 1 1/2 years ago i lost about 40 lbs and was feeling fantastic...a lot slid and i find myself unmotiviated...every night i go to sleep thinking I have to do better, and every day, something gets in the way. I am so tired, literally! i have to start excercising to make myself feel better.

For this week, here is what I hope to do:
Monday - Walk Away The Pounds 3 miles
Tuesday - Janis Saffell Brand New Step (with 1 set of risers)
W...
