There’s something about hanging around a site for close to three years that might be worth hanging on to, I guess? So I'm sticking around, even if I'm doing more of the 'useful' stuff on a different site.

I tried tracking in this site’s clunky, ad laden interface again, and got anno... Mon, 18 Aug 2014 20:50:58 EST one last bit of first class service http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5756064 Now really, it doesn't matter to me whether I work Tuesday thru Friday, or Monday thru Thursday. Oh sure, maybe there was a concert or two I might have made it to had I had the M-T sked, but I didn't miss anything earthshaking there. So when asked to switch for the last few weeks of the current contract, I said, sure, why, not, anything to be useful for the rest of this stint. At least I know it wasn't more, as more would have meant twoterville, and that's a barrier I haven't crossed, no matter how close I've skated to the line. Well, at least that isn't a barrier I've seen on the scale. That late, holy crap I'm hungry feeling drove me out of my hotel room in search of sustenance, and I'll give myself a half point back for not going to the McDonald's across the street, even as subtracting a point for the lateness of the meal. As of Wednesday, April 30, 2014, I weighed in at 194.8 pounds. 10.6 down over 2.5 years, is one way of viewing that change. And frankly, as someone 3 weeks away from a 39th birthday, a decreasing weight isn’t a bad thing.

But that’s a macro look, which obscures the micros changes. And if 'job' = 'no summer', then is it good enough? Funny thing, the best possibility that might be out there would be a return to the opportunity that I spent 8 months of last year doing. That would be for long enough to kiss the possibility of doing any organized sport over the summer goodbye. Which would be disappointing, especially as the soccer league is set to start next Monday. It is a concept album, which told a tale of a guy, on the verge of waking up, just before the alarm sounds, thinking back, half awake, on choices faced, choices made, and how he arrived at this point. My interpretation, anyway. The first lines, the main theme, which repeats throughout the album, is rather forward facing, however, and it is a perfect encapsulation of a new year sentiment, for what we're tr... Sat, 9 Nov 2013 02:39:22 EST the roller coaster of being a sports fan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5516224 Identifying, and smirking at the people on sports radio who were so gloomy yesterday, after the Detroit Tigers lost a 1-0 contest to go down 2-1 to Boston in the ALCS, today being so chipper and assuming "we're going to win and head to the World Series! WOO!", despite the fact two of the remaining games are in Boston. Hey, I get it, I've gone from resigned pessimism after losing game 2 in shocking fashion, to the resignedly optimistic position of hey, it could happen, Max Scherzer and Justin ... Thu, 17 Oct 2013 15:39:52 EST pita up grump down http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5514742 I played golf, badly, this weekend, which may or may not have contributed to this pulled muscle plaguing me. That led to blc teammates suggesting I check out Robin Williams' bit on the origins of the sport.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcnFb
CCgTo4
(do i really need to tell you it's NSFW language? it is Robin Williams, after all).

and that led to perusing other clips of his, which eventually got me to this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Q... Tue, 15 Oct 2013 23:26:30 EST plan of attack http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5513743 (imagine me being unlazy enough to link the Lords of the Trident song by that name here)

blc dictates for the weekend include posting goals for the next ten weeks, so that's why i've bothered to open up this page and scribble in it. didn't really feel like it.

anyway. i could say something along the lines of I'll use the same goals, and endeavor to actually do it. But that really hasn't worked at all, has it, so I'll try something different.

My plan is not to ... Mon, 14 Oct 2013 23:24:12 EST shoulda gone to tonight's game instead http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5508508 I chewed through most of the fingernails during game 1 of the ALCS, as Max Scherzer nursed an early three run lead for 7 innings, and then turned a single run lead over to the Detroit Tigers' bullpen to save. The cuticles were the victims today, as Scherzer came out of the bullpen in a backs against the wall, must win situation, and first proceeded to give Oakland a lead, and then loaded the bases with none out, before escaping, Houdini style, without further damage in his two innings of work... Wed, 9 Oct 2013 00:19:49 EST small world syndrome http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5507543 I went to Detroit Monday for the ALDS game 3 matchup between the Tigers and the A's. The game didn't go to the crowd's liking, and it was really freaking cold out there ( I had 4 layers on, and still went and visited the merchandise store to see if they had any reasonably priced sweatshirts. Of course they didn't. Sorry, I'll freeze my butt off for another hour and half rather than paying 75 bucks for a sweatshirt that I don't even think looks that good), I did park a good bit out of the way ... Tue, 8 Oct 2013 00:34:52 EST I crashed a wedding the other day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5501009 I was trying to scribble a short blurb for a message board, and then it got long. Thought it worth the share.

Basically, on Friday, I went to Madison, as I'd mentioned, a trip made for not having anything going on this week. Because of the circumstances under which nothing was going on, I felt like maybe I needed to go home and wait by the phone. But then I realized that with cell phones, the phone can be anywhere you are! So I went to Madison, and I texted a friend something along... Tue, 1 Oct 2013 05:17:59 EST break down these walls http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5493268 21 days streak of not blogging is over! Wasn't anything intentional, just never got around to it, more or less. Sure had a ton of things I could have talked about, but just...yeah.

Anyway, about to start on my last week of work at this current gig. Had an interview for another position, but I don't think it went well. Haven't heard anything back from my company, anyway. So, as far as I know, I get a vacation starting next week. Not a bad thing, and really, would love to have a few ... Sun, 22 Sep 2013 23:16:26 EST the wheels on the bus go round and round http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5472195 It's september 1st, back to school time on so many friend feeds whether facebook or here. I don't have a dog in that fight, or child in that system, whichever metaphor you prefer (it's probably the latter, isn't it?), but I was at a 2 year old's birthday party earlier, and hearing the songs the little ones were warbling, and wondering what sorts of songs I'd be singing to any hypothetical children, at that age or otherwise, were they to someday to become real. I think they'd have to be along ... Sun, 1 Sep 2013 01:59:15 EST
