I have been having a hard time walking. I was having trouble even getting out of a chair. The pain in my hips and allover was awful. My daughter has been suggesting that I try low carb again. I did it about fifteen years ago and lost 60 pounds, pretty easily. I started it yesterday. Within the first twelve hours the pain in my hips started easing. This morning, after just one day, the pain has subsided enormously. I still have some, but I feel lik... Sun, 3 Nov 2013 10:58:05 EST Trying to get myself back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5460702 I'm done avoiding what I need to be doing thanks to some encouragement from my daughter. I have been dealing with some stressful issues. First was dealing with going back to work after the summer off. It's very difficult making time to exercise when I come home so tired every day. I decided to go back to starting with ten minutes of treadmill just to get me going again. The other issue is that I have lost my hearing. Both of my eardrums ruptured. They have healed back over, but the ENT... Tue, 20 Aug 2013 07:35:30 EST Seem to be stuck. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422862 Boy, trying to go from 260 to 259 just seems like an insurmountable challenge. I get close then gain a little. I've been at 260 for a while now. I go back to work next Monday after having the summer off. I'm hoping that helps. Tue, 16 Jul 2013 09:51:27 EST Finally Ready Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5416638 I have been out of sorts for a little bit over a week. I took some time to visit my daughter in Phoenix and shortly after I got home my son and his girlfriend came to visit. I went out to eat very frequently and really didn't get any\exercise in. Fortunately, I only gained a small amount. Time to get on track again. Wed, 10 Jul 2013 11:04:17 EST Time to AutoCorrect http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5405315 I did not have a good week food or exercise wise. I made a juice today that I called Empty the Fridge Juice. It's a combo of ten different fruits and vegetables. I watered it down with an equal amount of water. That will be my drink for a good part of the day. It should help my system get cleaned out a bit. It also helped get rid of a lot of fruit and vegetables. Sat, 29 Jun 2013 09:27:37 EST Made it through yesterday! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5401320 Yesterday for some reason was a really stressful, off day for me. I ate a lot that I shouldn't have and I didn't exercise. Fortunately, I didn't gain any weight. Today I'm feeling better and back on track. I started the day with juicing (kale, carrot, celery, pineapple, nectarine) and a hard boiled egg for breakfast. Now off to physical therapy. Hoping for a good day. Tue, 25 Jun 2013 11:57:41 EST Pledge to Myself http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5400402 Today, I promise I will not quit.

I pledge that no matter, how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey.

I pledge to make a NEW START today, and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself.

I pledge to take control of myself, to stop making excuses, and stop blaming other people or situations.

I pledge to treat myself as I would my best friend, because that is who I am.

I pledge to stay in t... Mon, 24 Jun 2013 15:52:02 EST Having a Tough Time Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5400267 I'm feeling a lot of stress today for a couple different reasons. I am really trying not to binge. It's 10:30 and I already had my breakfast, snack and lunch. At this rate I'll be eating dinner by noon. I have to get this under control! Mon, 24 Jun 2013 13:31:33 EST Foot Taping A Miracle! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5399308 I have been in pain from my right foot for years. I have no arch in my right foot at all. It happened three years ago when I broke a bone in my foot where the arch is. It causes foot, ankle and back pain, because everything is out of alignment. I wear an orthotic, but it is being repaired right now which is going to take another month. I have been having a miserable time walking. This week a physical therapist taped my arch. I didn't even know that could be done. It's a miracle, no pa... Sun, 23 Jun 2013 16:39:45 EST Me and the Scale http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5398122 My daughter recommended that I weigh myself only once a week. I did give it an honest try, although difficult. I have decided to go back to weighing daily. Maybe, I'm too reliant on the scale. When I weigh daily and see my weight go up I know I need to work a little harder. I don't get disappointed when I gain. It just gives me incentive to try harder. When I didn't weigh daily that incentive was gone. So I'm back to weighing everyday and happy! Sat, 22 Jun 2013 09:36:33 EST I Did Two Chair Videos Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5397255 Since I'm having temporary foot problems suggestions were made to try the chair exercises. Wow, i didn't expect them to be difficult. The first I did was an 11 minute cardio because the Biggest Loser contest's task for today was to do a cardio video. I was only able to do eight minutes, and modified at that. The second was a seated core exercise video. I am really feeling that one. My abs and back aren't in pain, but they definitely feel like they have been worked. I'm going to do that... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 10:58:07 EST Trying to deal with pain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5393756 I normally wear an orthotic for a fallen arch. Recently my foot dr took it to be repaired. They handmade me a makeshift one in the meantime. It's going to take about five more weeks before I get mine back. I have quite a bit of pain when walking right now, but I don't want to give it up...it's working. I worry that if I stop I'll either stop losing or gain it all back. I just can't give up at this point. Tue, 18 Jun 2013 19:13:56 EST A Learning Experience http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5389713 I went to IHOP yesterday for lunch with my two daughters. It was decided upon to go while we were out shopping so I didn't do my usual look up of nutrition facts first. I could have used my phone to do it, but I felt like it would slow down everyone's ordering so I didn't do it. They had a chicken sandwich served with a small fruit bowl on the healthy menu at 410 calories. They also had a similar chicken sandwich served with fries, of course, no calories listed. I made the unwise choice ... Sat, 15 Jun 2013 07:26:32 EST Reason Behind My Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5385517 Today my coaching activity is to write about the reason behind my weight loss goals.
My main reason is my grandson. I absolutely adore being with him, but it is very physically tiring sometimes because I'm so overweight. I want to be able to take care of him, participate in activities, and frankly just be around to see him grow up. I am very aware that being this overweight is a great health risk. Time to end that. Tue, 11 Jun 2013 08:05:01 EST Hungry, hungry, hungry http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5384640 I don't know what is up today. I am usually very satisfied. Today I feel like I can't eat enough. At this rate I'll be through my calories by noon. Any suggestions? Mon, 10 Jun 2013 13:55:26 EST First Full Week Off Coming Up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5383158 I met and passed my goal for the Biggest Loser Challenge that I'm participating in! I lost 3.2 pounds this week. My goal was 2 pounds. I now have six weeks of being home. Every summer I have a list of things I intend to get done. I always end up going back to school with most of them incomplete. I hope that's not the case this year. I am trying to do a week-by-week list list this time instead of looking at everything that needs to be done. Hopefully, I can handle that a little better... Sun, 9 Jun 2013 08:35:25 EST Day 2 of doing a mile! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5381451 I just got off the treadmill and feel like I've taken a shower. Now for stretches. I hope this gets easier. Fri, 7 Jun 2013 12:24:25 EST Finally reached one mile http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5380380 I finally did it! It's taken about five weeks to build up to it, but I was finally able to do a mile on the treadmill. Next goal will be 1.25 miles. Thu, 6 Jun 2013 13:17:52 EST Need to Restructure http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5379544 Today was my first day off for summer break. I had a difficult time eating today. Normally, I bring a lunch bag full of lunch and snacks and would eat everything I brought. Being home, I did not eat as well. I did not to plan what I was going to eat ahead of time.. I need to fix that tomorrow. I still was on plan, just a little more haphazard. I think I'll put a sticky note on the fridge with the times and foods I should eat. I really need some consistency so I don't blow this! Wed, 5 Jun 2013 20:35:19 EST Ways I'm feeling healthier http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5374416 I noticed I'm craving fast food a lot less. As a matter of fact. In the past week I haven't had any except a planned breakfast that was only 250 calories. I am not dreading exercise anymore. I can't say that I actually look forward to it yet, but I'm not hating it. After a month I've noticed that I'm not quite as focused on food as I was. Sat, 1 Jun 2013 09:45:55 EST Pogo Stick http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5371213 I feel like I'm on a pogo stick. Twice in the past week I got down to 269 and the next day I was back up to 270. So frustrating. I kind of knew it would happen. I had shrimp yesterday and that always makes me hold water. Right now I feel like it would be a miracle to see 268. It will happen!!! I have to believe. Wed, 29 May 2013 08:44:53 EST Humorous http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5369010 Today is the first day since I've been using the treadmill that I have knee pain. Nothing serious, just a little uncomfortable. It's probably from the stretching exercises that the chiropractor has me doing. Anyways, when I started up Sparkpeople today the featured article is "11 Exercises to Decrease Knee Pain." It's like they know. Funny!
Mon, 27 May 2013 07:11:04 EST Quick and Easy Meal Ideas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5368185 My spark coach task for today is to list my quick and easy meal ideas here. I try to make double meals when I cook so I have leftovers. When I need two turkey burgers for my husband and I, I will make four. That makes weeknights easier. I usually stew a chicken on the weekends so I can use that meat during the week. I also use Safeway premade salads for lunch. They're delicious, low cal and have quite a variety. Sun, 26 May 2013 07:51:03 EST Getting back in control http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5367383 I had a lot of stress and pain this week and reacted as I usually do by eating things I shouldn't. Honestly, I wasn't as bad as I normally would have been, but still I did not stick to my diet as I should have and the scale knows it. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and was taught some stretching exercises that she says should help alleviate the back pain. My other problem, the "stress" is caused by the parent of a student. That, I don't know how to fix. Fortunately, I'm off work a... Sat, 25 May 2013 08:37:43 EST Starting to struggle http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5364336 I feel like I am beginning to struggle. Maybe, it's just the day. My back has been hurting after I get off the treadmill recently. It doesn't hurt while I'm walking, but starts immediately after. I didn't do the treadmill this morning. I hope to do it after work today. Hopefully, this way I'll be able to get through the day with a little less pain. I don't want to give up the treadmill because it's working. I'm just feeling down because of the back pain. I think I'll make an appointm... Wed, 22 May 2013 09:06:20 EST Made it today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5358268 Boy, going from 2.9 on the treadmill to 3.0 feels like a huge jump to me. Of course, it's not. I think it must just be a mental thing. Thu, 16 May 2013 08:09:58 EST Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5357199 I usually do my treadmill workout before breakfast. I have been doing twent minutes. this morning I ate first. I also had taken my shot before walking. I had to cut my walking short by five minutes. My legs were cramping. I guess for me it'll have to be exercise before eating. I feel much better that way. Wed, 15 May 2013 09:27:27 EST Sabotage Day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5352055 Okay, I think it is officially sabotage day at work. This morning someone brought me what I thought was coffee and a donut. I said I didn't want the donut, but I would take the coffee. Turns out it was hot chocolate. Our lounge this morning has bagels, muffins, and popcorn. All favorites of course. I left there quickly. Tonight is an end-of-the-year dinner out with friends at Chilis. I looked at the nutrition info this morning. Wow! The meal I usually get, the burger bites, is 1750 ... Fri, 10 May 2013 11:23:10 EST Need some advice http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5350746 Help, I need some advice today! Yesterday I was asked at work to go out to lunch with our school nurse for nurse's day. I had missed the secretary's day lunch previously and the principal insisted that she buy me and the nurse lunch at a restaurant. I tried to avoid it, but I felt that if I didn't go she would miss her lunch out and the principal was pretty much very kindly insisting. I had brought my lunch so I was completely unprepared to go out, mentally. The nurse picked Chinese. I ... Thu, 9 May 2013 09:02:58 EST Quite a suprise! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5349575 I wasn't completely pleased with my food choices yesterday. My daughter was over and left the Girl Scout mint cookies out on an end table. I don't even really like cookies, or sweets in general, but I ate three. Not too disastrous. I was still in my plan limits. My definite weakness is breads and fat. Anyways, I got up this morning not feeling very energetic. On the treadmill I had to walk at a slightly slower speed than I've been doing. I did the full time, though. When I got on th... Wed, 8 May 2013 09:18:01 EST It's going well! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5344141 I'm only on day four, but I'm feeling so much better. The treadmill is helping me tremendously. I didn't think I would like it in the beginning. I had a treadmill previously, but I had to lean forward to hold on and that hurt my back. I don't have enough balance to walk without holding on. This new treadmill has long handles. Problem solved! To top everything off I lost two pounds so far. Now if I can only figure out how to do this Spark People thing I'll be on a roll. It is a bit fr... Fri, 3 May 2013 09:08:35 EST Better day today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5343617 After only two days of exercising I am actually feeling a little less achy. I slept last night finally, which may have helped also. I was running late this morning and didn't really want to exercise. Now I'm glad I did. Thu, 2 May 2013 20:03:02 EST Heck of a day yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5342970 I had a really difficult day yesterday and responded by going way off my diet. I need to stop going to fast food when I'm stressed. That will be my number one thing to work on. Thu, 2 May 2013 09:05:36 EST
