AGAMER's SparkPeople Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.asp?id=AGAMER AGAMER's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community SparkPeople.com http://assets2.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/logo_spark.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Eat your fruits and veggies! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4802765 I am curious (some would call it nosey) so I like to browse through other people's nutrition trackers. Sometimes I get good ideas from seeing what other people eat, especially vegetarians or vegans. However, I also see a lot of people who regularly eat few or no fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

You don't have to be a vegetarian to eat produce. People who eat meat should also be eating fruits and veggies throughout the day. Really, they are not mutually exclusive! 2... Sat, 24 Mar 2012 14:25:26 EST Energy that's better than caffeine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4793697 So I've been eating healthy foods for about 3 weeks, focusing on several servings of fruits and vegetables each day, lowering my carbs, eating more healthy fats and fewer unhealthy fats, and eating more plant-based proteins. After about a week of doing so, I started no longer feeling like staying in bed all day, or sitting on the sofa all day eating processed foods.

After a week of regular exercise, combined with healthy eating, I now feel better than I have in years. I've halved... Sun, 18 Mar 2012 17:56:15 EST Pre-diabetic ?!? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4791131 So I went to the doc last week for some chest pains I was having when I started working out again (they've since gone, and workouts are fine, and heart was fine). The initial doc did some bloodwork, and I was called yesterday and told I have a hemoglobin A1c level of 5.8 and that I was pre-diabetic. The lady who called said it so fast, and it wasn't sinking in, that I had to ask her to repeat it.

"Pre-diabetic" ??

I had started eating healthier a week prior to the ap... Fri, 16 Mar 2012 19:13:20 EST Good pain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4788221 Owies! Muscles ache just a wee bit as they've been so inactive lately. Another nice workout tonight. Too tired to read blogs. :(

I hope anyone reading this had a wonderful day today. Sleep well, and aim for a fabulous day Thursday.

You can do it! Wed, 14 Mar 2012 23:10:54 EST Wow, people still do step aerobics! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4786442 I just realized my profile pic looks lopsided. lol

The narrow left eye is from eye surgery, but I have no idea why my smile is crooked. I blame the lighting!

Did a 1 hour step aerobics workout today and can't remember when I last worked out for that long a time. It felt fabulous beyond words.

I googled for step aerobics 2011 and was surprised to find that a lot of people still do the step. I figured I might be one of the remaining few, with most having mov... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 22:56:02 EST Blogs vs sleep http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784614 Do you read people's blogs when you should be sleeping? Help me!

246 Mon, 12 Mar 2012 22:25:43 EST Heart doctors can't cure everything (long but light hearted) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784578 So I went to see a cardiologist today to get an exercise stress test due to chest pains I was having a little over a week ago when I started exercising again. Fortunately everything is fine according to the doc. Yaay! The appointment had a great ending but a very weird beginning.

As I was walking through the parking lot toward the medical building, someone turned very quickly around a corner. I stopped suddenly as I didn't want to walk out in front of the person's car. He stop... Mon, 12 Mar 2012 21:57:33 EST I don't know how to cook! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4782808 I'm over the 40 mark (/cry) and I still don't know how to cook. I was married once (and only once ... lol) and even then I didn't cook. I've been at my current house for about 10 years and have never used the oven except to store pots. I use the stove as a counter.

How does someone who doesn't know how to cook learn how to cook? I am referring to the basics. I don't know what sautee is (did I even spell that right) or how to steam anything (isn't that what microwaves are for... Sun, 11 Mar 2012 23:00:51 EST Trying to Become the Heaviest Woman http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4782289 No, not me. ;)

A woman in Casa Grande, AZ is trying to become the heaviest woman in the world. I have no issues with this. If people *want* to become morbidly obese that is their choice. But I DO have a problem with it when the woman has two children. Her name is Susanne Eman.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/new
s/3757881/Worlds-fattest-mum-Susanne-E
man-wants-to-be-heaviest-ever.html

There are pictures and videos at the above URL. Sun, 11 Mar 2012 16:29:35 EST 2 Weeks Later http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4782274 I started eating right 2 weeks ago and so far it's been relatively easy. It's mostly a matter of identifying the foods I would eat too much of, and not buying those foods. The "worst" things I have at the house are 15-calorie ice pops and 120-calorie pretzel servings. I have no desire to eat a lot of either, so it's a safe snack food.

I don't feel as sluggish as I used to feel, especially after a "healthy" frozen dinner. Those things always made me want to go nap for a few hour... Sun, 11 Mar 2012 16:14:47 EST
