Not much, but I ended the the Summer 5% challenge weighing more than I started with. I have to concentrate on the fact that my clothes still fit and I still feel great. But I also have to admit that the scale seems to mean more to me than it should. I have to concentrate on the fact that I am walking briskly more than I ever have before in my life and I've been able to get some running in too. I continue to go to Vinyas... Mon, 18 Aug 2014 14:15:53 EST Wow my spotlight day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5753728 I can't believe that Susan chose this day to make my Spotlight day. It happens to coincide with my 42nd wedding anniversary. My husband and I decided we can't celebrate until Thursday because we are both really busy but being in the spotlight is like a special anniversary present today for me. I love all of the people who come to visit my Sparkpage and being in the Spotlight brings the whole team here.

Woohoo. I'm a happy Teddy bear! Tue, 5 Aug 2014 15:28:25 EST I feel so secure! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5731443 Today was my Weight Watcher meeting. My regular leader has been on vacation and the substitute is awesome! I have heard so many great ideas from her. The one I got today I just have to pass on!

She suggested that you choose some computer thing that you have to log into with username and password every day and set your password to a thought you have to remember. We all went around the room and suggested new passwords like:

Iamsk!nny - I am skinny
NoSw33ts - No sweets... Wed, 18 Jun 2014 14:56:32 EST Who knew we were trying to be healthy? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5714242 Over 15 years ago we remodeled our kitchen. It really needed it (old appliances, avocado colored boomerang Formica and very dark cheap cabinetry). Why am I telling you about this now? Well 15 years ago I had no idea, I’d be eating a mostly, super healthy diet, being active every day and maintaining a healthy weight, but we knew we wanted to move my kitchen sink under the beautiful sunlit corner of my kitchen. The problem with that desire was that it left a huge pie-shaped area that was pretty... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 13:42:08 EST One more good bye for Dad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5711526 Last night our synagogue engraved my Dad's name on our memorial wall in their beautiful memorial garden. It feels really great to have his name there since he wanted to be cremated, it's nice to have a place to go to see his name next to my Mom and sister. It was nice to have my whole family there too. I felt really supported. The only minorly bad issue is that my kids wanted to go to an old favorite Mexican restaurant and I ate way too much fattening stuff but since it was their favorite, it... Thu, 5 Jun 2014 19:02:51 EST I refuse to let the scale own me. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5706259 I have been really bummed out for the last three weeks and I know why even though I'm having trouble admitting it. After over two years of maintaining a one pound range around my goal weight for some reason the scale has started to move in the wrong direction. In the last three weeks I've gained 3 pounds.

I know that doesn't sound like the end of the world but I am a person who really respects trends and I am trending upwards.

Logically, I know that this small increase ... Thu, 15 May 2014 13:58:54 EST Another spark of Joy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5693590 As I've blogged before, I'm fortunate to work at a company that supports our good health. They offer cash incentives to use a pedometer and walk, walk, walk among other things. Today I went out for my usual Monday power walk-45 minutes of 15 minute miles and when I hooked my pedometer up to my work computer to log my steps I found that I topped 10 million steps and I reached level 4 which gets me the top cash incentive that my company offers. <img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeople.com/nw/... For the 2nd year in a row I participated in my company's 5K race. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Perfect temperature, just the right amount of breeze. I invited one of my walking buddies to come along with me and she agreed. This meant that I wasn't going to finish too fast (last year I came in 2nd place in my age group) but we got a chance to really catch up with each other. Wed, 24 Apr 2013 15:03:39 EST What is my peaceful "perfect" weight goal and WHY?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5306915 I have always been an analytical person and when I started down this road I set my sites on a weight that would put me smack in the middle of my healthy BMI range. Then my dearest SparkFriend Jonnie (JAZZEJR) suggested I go for a weight that will put me about 2-3 lbs past my goal so that I could have a buffer that would fit my life style. So that is what I aimed for. Crazy as it sounds when I reached that new goal I kept losing so now I sit about 4 lbs below Jonnie's suggested goal and I have... I read about the one mile test on today's start page
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/Fitness
_articles.asp?id=1496
and I haven't really checked my speed since last year when I was only at 19 minute miles which put me at the lower end of the fair verging to poor category. I have been steadily improving my stamina this past year. I came in 2nd in my age group in a 5K last year and I just wrote about going snowshoeing. Well I timed ... Sun, 3 Mar 2013 19:07:21 EST Coffee plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5271379 Yesterday I sat down with my usual mug of coffee to think about how to cut down on coffee. I quit smoking cold turkey so maybe that will work with this problem too. I have my own coffee maker at work because I don't like the coffee at our office coffee area. So I went out and bought an electric water kettle for my office and a box of green tea yesterday to bring to work tomorrow. My plan will be to gradually substitute green tea and plain delicious water for several of my mugs of coffee. I h... I am typically a four cup a day coffee addict. I am going to cut down to one cup. This addiction not only makes me jittery, it comes with an addiction to half & half and equal. Two things that I don't need at all. I will discuss this throughout the week. Tomorrow I will outline my plan for cutting down. Thu, 7 Feb 2013 17:05:57 EST Yummy veggie side dish http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5218732 We've fallen into a regular rhythm of having Salmon every Monday since we need to get more fish in our diet and Salmon is so nutritious and tastes great. We have it on Monday since our garbage is collected on Tuesday morning and we can get rid of the fishy smell quickly. My retired DH buys the salmon and grills it each week and I have to come up with side dishes.

Our CSA provided collard greens and a huge head of Napa cabbage. I had some small red onions from last weeks CSA pickup....
