But I did take a break from spark people. I've realized that when I log my food, my choices tend to be better. Mostly because I hold myself more accountable with what goes in my mouth. Without a food journal of sorts, you lose that.

So I'm currently sitting at about 256, which is great! But I could do more. I want to do more. I could give everyone excuses about school and work making exercise and dieting harder, but it's really about t... It was my busiest work week by far and i let it affect how much exercise I got. I did get to walk almost every day at least 20 minutes so it wasn't a total loss. Overall the month was awesome though. I more than made up for it other weeks.

2)
2) Keep sodium levels in the 500-2000 range. - I've only gone over a couple days this month so I... Sun, 5 Aug 2012 23:21:07 EST My motivational collage. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4998804 Well folks, it's so busy at work that I haven't had much time to actually blog. But, I wanted to share with everyone my exercise collage I made. It's sort of a reflection of me, silly but at the same time serious about diet and exercise.

Here's a link to it, since Sparkpeople loves to resize my pictures to teeny tiny size ;-)

Thu, 2 Aug 2012 23:09:41 EST July WUB #3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4987153 Well folks, it's time for another fine edition of my weekly update blog. I think I missed a week, so this one is brought to you on this late date by the fine folks at Procrastination™! Anyways I like this week's biggest loser challenge, strength training, and goal visualizing. I have my goals posted on the fridge and on my computer at work, so I'm definitely spending time checking my progress. Here's the latest:

July 9th - 22nd:
1) Exercise at least 5 times a week with 3 days... Wed, 25 Jul 2012 23:23:29 EST Overcoming setbacks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4981698 So I wanted to make a quick blog about a setback I've been slowly overcoming. We all have them right?

Mine is Type 1 Diabetes, or more specifically, my control over it.

Before SP, I was very erratic with my blood glucose monitoring, and got into the habit of doing it only once oh say...a week. OR if I had a low blood sugar, or if my wife (bless her) made me do it.

I think my problem was I wasn't checking blood sugars for myself. It was for the doctor, or to... Tue, 10 Jul 2012 23:08:26 EST A Childhood Passion Reborn in the Kitchen http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4954545 Ok. Remember back in first grade, when your teacher asked you, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". I remember kids shout things like "a fireman!", "a cop!", "a forensic entomologist!". Ok so maybe not that last one, but I do remember what I said: "I want to be a frog!".

My childhood hero.

Well you may notice this post isn't about how I became a frog, or learned how to jump really high or ... Wed, 4 Jul 2012 02:55:25 EST My July Goals (MGB- BLC#15 Dune Rider Team) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4949736 I've tweaked and added to some of my previous goals to fit July. I'm very excited to be in a Biggest Loser Challenge and I know I've got a lot of work ahead of me to meet these goals. I do feel they are attainable though and I will post a blog each week explaining how I'm progressing. The toughest goal currently seems to be 5) 5) Run continuously for 30 minutes at one time and probably the last 3 on the list. Getting to bed on time and 8 hours of sleep is tough! I just need a nightly routine.... Sun, 1 Jul 2012 01:21:01 EST Still Motivated! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4947701 Ok so I weighed myself this morning and I was only down 1 pound to 271. I just have to remember, this week was not normal. It was my birthday week. I don't normally eat out 3 times in one week at anytime, let alone 3 times in a month. Also, I think could push myself a little more on the cardio and strength training and find ways to increase my calories, which have been running a little low for my goals. I don't think my body is in starvation mode or anything, I'm just not hitting the 1600-200... Fri, 29 Jun 2012 12:42:43 EST Like Two Birthday's Rolled Into One http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4946459 Ok so wow, yesterday was my birthday, and it was awesome. We stayed home most of the day but did get out to go to Longhorn Steakhouse. We were able to make sensible choices (flat iron steak w/ stuffed portabella mushrooms and a side caeser salad with green beans and a small baked potato) and not go too overboard. I went over on my calories a little. Afterwards, I had a mostly healthy piece of cake. But it's ok. If you want a breakdown, check out my food tracker from yesterday. And thank you a... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 15:26:10 EST Awesome news! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4943535 Wow.
I shared with my team at work how I had lost the ten pounds in a week using SP and diet and exercise, and wouldn't you know it, I've got like 5 people interested in signing up! Two just downloaded the iphone app and several others are interested. And I gave a pregnant friend on the team a recipe for a taco salad I made on sunday! I ran into her during lunch and she asked what I was eating and I guess she liked what she saw so she asked me for the recipe. I'm so happy that I've been... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 17:09:58 EST Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4941888 Well I just got an email from someone on spark people and she asked what my goals were. So I've decided to re-post them just to share with everyone. I've always heard writing down and being able to see your goals makes them easier to attain. I might print these out and blow them up so I can stick em' up on my cubicle. Prepare yourself. Here they are:

Short term goals:
1) Exercise at least 5 times a week with 3 days of strength training
2) Keep sodium levels in the... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 15:34:25 EST Ten Pounds Down! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4940861 Since joining SP a little over a week ago, I've lost 10 pounds! I'm now down to 272. And I've managed to keep my blood sugar levels lower than I have in a looong time. I feel better and this is just the first milestone of many. I found muscles I forgot I had in strength training, found new cardio ides, and ate over 6(!) new recipie combinations since we started. A friend of mine said it was just decreasing my sodium, but I know it had more to do with eating a well balanced diet, exercising, ... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 23:33:06 EST Taking Ownership of My Diabetes and Two Helpful Links http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4935619 First of all, thank you thank you thank you, to everyone who posted a comment on my first blog. Your words of encouragement mean a lot to me. I'd like to take some time and write about ownership.

As long as I can I remember I've had a problem with taking full ownership. Even more so with my diabetes when I was diagnosed back in 1996. And by ownership I mean turning my diabetes into something positive and doing the best I can to control it. Think of the classic quote from Spiderma... Thu, 21 Jun 2012 01:17:19 EST A New Beginning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4933536 See what I did there? Yep. Star Wars reference. But seriously, I'm excited to be a part of this community. I just started last week and I'm already noticing positive differences in how I feel, my energy level, and my drive. A huge thank you goes to my wife Angelique for introducing me to this community and being a constant motivator.
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=AN
GELIQUE271

So about me right?
