My biggest challenge is binge eating. I have a terrible sweet tooth and it rear's it's ugly head quite frequently. As long as I control the sweet tooth I do well. Definitely a challenge though!!!! Fri, 7 Oct 2016 13:23:38 EST 12 weeks of BLC 30 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6148157 This BLC round we have gone to 15 weeks versus 12 weeks. I think perhaps the extra weeks have been too overwhelming for many of my team mates. We generally lose a few towards the end, but this round we have lost many, and many of these losses have been key cogs to the team. On a personal note, I have found this round to be personally taxing as well. BLC has had to take the back seat to my work load. I am still exercising and watching what I eat , but I find that I'm leaning toward easier... Fri, 22 Apr 2016 17:22:11 EST 1st 6 weeks of BLC 29 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6040196 This round and the last round have been more challenging for me than any others and I've been around since Round 8. Work seems to be more challenging as well and I wonder if I'm just ready to be retired. I feel like my coworkers rely on me to carry the ball a lot and I worry what is going to happen when I leave. I've also found my down time with my husband is much more enjoyable. I've still been able to maintain my weight and I still exercise every morning but it isn't happening as easily ... Mon, 30 Nov 2015 18:59:35 EST 1st 6 weeks of BLC28 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5962292 I feel that this is the first round that I haven't been able to give my full attention to the team.
Work has been so busy and then I threw in a vacation in the middle of that as well so I was gone for 10 days. In a way, I'm learning to wean myself from Spark. I have been a Spark participant since April of 2007 and when I retire I know I won't be able to participate any longer because my husband is so paranoid about internet social media. I've also learned that I have the skills to con... Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:52:09 EST BLC Dos and Don'ts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5896483 I know I'm supposed to blog about my first 6 weeks and how I'm going to change that up, but I've been a MoM (Master of Maintenance) for about 8 years now so I think I must be doing something right. I do know that to maintain I have to continue to learn and to try new things. If I become complacent and stuck in a rut I begin to lose that edge and start putting on weight again. I think that is why I love being on the BLC team and why I enjoy all the challenges. Being one of the older member... I will do 3 1/2 hour ST sessions a week for my pelvic area. I 've had some issues due to pelvic mesh surgery and then the removal of it.

2. I will drink at least 2 fruit smoothies a week for breakfast. I'm bad about not eatig till about 10 and I get up at 5:40 am.

3. I will limit my Starbucks to 3 times a week. The nutrition and fitness aspects were challenging and made me walk outside my comfort zone. The buddy aspect of it also put me way outside my comfort zone because I felt like I was really being deceitful to my husband by taking texts behind his back. Sort of ironic because I'm sitting in the car with my husband and he has it on some public radio station and what was their topic??? telling the truth and half truths by n... Mon, 17 Nov 2014 13:43:27 EST Life is a Struggle http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5816727 There are so many things in our lives that are hard to deal with. Then throw in self esteem issues and our problems are magnified. I struggled with self esteem issues in a big way after coming out of an abusive first marriage. I was a basket case-- I was 21 with 2 infants under 2, I had lost weight and was under a hundred pounds, I had no job skills, and I hated myself. It has taken 40 years of working on this to get where I am today. Small baby steps-- taking classes, learning skills, ... Fri, 14 Nov 2014 11:49:35 EST Who started Blogs any way??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5812653 Who was the person that started blogging? My first thought is that they must think a lot of themselves to think that anyone would be interested in what they had to say or what they thought. Truthfully, I do find other peoples thoughts very interesting and beneficial. I learn a lot from other peoples perspectives and experiences. So whoever that first person was that was brave enough to put their thoughts out there for the world to see--- kudos to you. Fri, 7 Nov 2014 14:36:03 EST My first 6 weeks of BLC http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5808310 I know this is supposed to be a blog about my first 6 weeks of this BLC, but since it really doesn't specify I'm going to to tell you about my first 6 weeks seven years ago. Back then I was just starting to get my weight under control-- I had 10 pounds left to lose-- I was just learning about drinking water, eating fiber and fruits and vegetables. I hadn't been exercising very long so I was a fanatic on doing videos -- Billy Banks and Taebo was the big thing back then. Doing it was empower... We've had a lot of our team members that have had to face some difficulties this round and their positive attitudes in the face of adversity have truly been inspiring. I feel very blessed to have shared this time with my team mates. I've actually reached my goal weight and have been able to maintain it since the 4th week of this round. Probably drinking water is my biggest downfall and a focus for in between rounds and for the next go round. I've maxed the TNT and SE every week so far. I plan on finishing out the round that way with a perfect 12 week score. I've really enjoyed our group and am sad that we've dropped so many along the way. I have also don... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 18:33:08 EST Weekend challenge #9 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5288017 I have actually reached my goal of 120 and have maintained it for 4 weeks so far. It has been helpful that I have given up soda pop (all soda) forever and candy for lent. I am finding that I need to get a least 40 min to an hour a day of exercise and to stay within 1300-1500 on calories to make this work. I have had a few treats but on those days I have increased the exercise. Drinking water helps to keep the system Um-- Moving properly-- don't know how else to put it. That has been the... We've had a different mix of members and it changed the dynamics of the team. I don't think this is a bad thing-- just different. Vacation and several illnesses paid havoc on me as far as keeping up with the thread and the challenges. I found because of falling so far behind, that I was always trying to catch up and never quite making it until the last couple of weeks of the challenge. My motivation fell by the wayside as well and my will ... During the holidays there are so many ways to fall off the wagon. The trick is to keep the goal in sight. I still plan to indulge in the goodies-- just have to indulge smarter. I have to watch how much and then make sure I off set it with more exercise than usual. The holidays are a time for sharing with your friends and family. The mirror is one way-- I hate to look in the mirror and see my tummy pooching out. (So vain) The scale is another way. If I get above 123 I panic. My clothes -- If I feel like I'm going to start shooting buttons I jump into action.

My team mates are my biggest help. I love a good competition between me and someone else. Fri, 9 Nov 2012 17:50:19 EST Tune Up for a life time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5104914 I’m taking advantage of the BLC20.5 and readjusting my attitude. For quite a few rounds I have been in MOM status and quite frankly my attitude has been rather cocky about it. I figured since I’ve maintained this long that I had it all figured out. I quit tracking food. My workouts were becoming less than stellar and so the scales gave me what I deserved----A HUGE WAKE UP CALL.

So my first course of action is to get healthy. Bladder and sinus infections have knocked the stuffi... Fri, 19 Oct 2012 12:08:52 EST Focus on NSV'S http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5069473 I've been a MoM for quite a few rounds now --I think since Round 11. That in itself is quite an NSV for me. My golden number is 120. It is where my clothes seem to fit the best and where I feel like I look my best. If the number dips below everyone seems to let me know I look too skinny, if I go above the golden number that nasty little paunch in the lower ab starts to appear-- so 120 it is. I'm actually happy with my measurements (with the exception of the lower abs-- won't be happy wit... Fri, 21 Sep 2012 17:13:48 EST 12 weeks plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5063902 This is really a lifetime plan not just 12 weeks. Maintenance is full time. If you let your guard down you can get in trouble very quickly . I plan to track my food. I plan to workout at least 60 minutes daily. Water is really hard for me!! I really have to struggle to get 6 glasses in but that is my goal. Sleep is important also, and most important is to be happy and happy with yourself Mon, 17 Sep 2012 20:50:39 EST Plans for Summer BreaK http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4973307 Slow and consistent is my new motto. For the BLC Summer break I plan to drink at least 60 oz of water a day. I may not break records for workout time but I will do at least 30-60 minutes a day. I will eat 5 freggies a day and I will try to organize one area of my house a day, like a closet or drawer, till I get my house back in order. This time is meant to stay at maintenance, but not in a heavy duty manner so that when September arrives I can kick it back into gear. LOL In the past 5 years I've made major changes in my life. I went from a couch potato to someone that works out daily. I've taken off about 20 pounds and have firmed things way up and actually have a little definition in my abs. I have dropped 3-4 sizes in pants. My long term goal is to stay at this weight and to continue staying fit for the rest of my life. Things that have helped my journey is most of all exercise, secondly tracking it and ... Wed, 16 Nov 2011 11:26:46 EST Blessings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4572730 It seems that we all tend to focus on what is wrong in our lives instead of focusing on our blessings. I have a tremendous amount of blessings-- health, a loving husband, 3 wonderful grown children, 5 wonderful grandkids a good job. There are so many people out there less fortunate than I am. I think I need to share my blessings with them. Mon, 7 Nov 2011 11:41:42 EST Happiness comes from within http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4570959 Seems like we all want to have all the newest items == go places , etc. but this is not the answer to happiness. It really is a state of mind and you have to be secure with yourself and your faith to obtain it. You also have to realize that life is thrown at you at times and your state of mind is what determines the outcome. Sat, 5 Nov 2011 11:50:42 EST Beach Blanket Bingo http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4568951 Gosh, probably most of you never saw the original Beach Blanket Bingo with all the dancing on the beach, bubble hairdos, crewcuts and two pieces. More of a time of innocence, although you couldn't convince my folks of that then. LOL!!! This is a fun challenge so far-- lots of options. Anyone that gets at least one Bingo is doing something good for themselves. Hope everyone does well. Fri, 4 Nov 2011 22:01:27 EST Who invented this? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4511910 I've always wondered who the heck invented blogs?? What is a blog anyway? Is this just a fancy way of saying I'm writing in my diary and you can look over my shoulder? Or is this a way to pass on valuable information that might help someone else in conquering a bad habit or learning a new good habit? I'm not really a blogger but I appreciate what I learn from others. Fri, 30 Sep 2011 11:01:18 EST Christmas is coming! I hope it's only the goose that's getting fat!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1613319 We had our first snow this weekend and it's has sort of added to the feeling of Christmas coming. I think I have finally come out of my doldrums and am looking forward to the holidays. It's so cold though it's hard to get in any exercise, but I'm not going to stress over it for a change. Actually without stressing I have maintained just as well. Tue, 16 Dec 2008 18:12:41 EST OOPS! Missed a Week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1594412 Where does time go? Looks like I missed a week. I did terrible over Thanksgiving. We went to my daughter's house in LA and b/c my DD does mostly take out (other than turkey dinner) I ate horribly and exercised way less than normal so I was up 2 pounds. The good news is I'm down a pound this morning and working towards a couple more (I hope). It's been a tough week at work with one fellow employee laid off and one sent to the hospital this morning. The rest of the week has got to get bet... Wed, 3 Dec 2008 16:17:39 EST Week six down http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1573795 Still no change in weight--- but I can't say I've exactly eaten well enough to expect a loss. In fact I'm thankful the scale hasn't moved the other direction. Getting excited about seeing my DD and her family over Thanksgiving. My DH hates LA , but I kind of like the shopping. We live in a small town and if you want to shop you drive an hour. So that will be nice. Wed, 19 Nov 2008 12:25:18 EST Week 5 and still coasting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1562878 It's week 5 and I'm at a standstill on weight loss. It seems the focus in this challenge has been exercise-- which is a good thing, but so many of us need to be held accountable for what passes our lips. I don't know about any one else, but all that exercise--- I work up a BIG appetite. Iguess I need to practice that one really important exercise-- ya know-- push away from the table!!! Wed, 12 Nov 2008 18:31:55 EST Week 4 BLC-8 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1549072 This challenge has been so motivating--as far as exercise--could use more help eating-wise. Halloween was a big disruption-- no willpower what-so-ever when it came to the 2 bags of candy. Fortunately I worked out enough so I didn't put anything on. I'm getting excited-- with this new tape I'm doing, Slim & 6 pack, I'm actually starting to see some definition in the abs area. I may get my 6 pack b4 I'm 60 yet. Hope so. Tue, 4 Nov 2008 17:02:44 EST Week 3 of BLC-8 Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1536502 Been exercising like crazy this week but the scale didn't budge. My coworker thinks I need to eat more and with all the exercise she may be right. I have trouble tracking my food on the weekends b/c my internet service is the pits. I started a new tape last night called Slim and 6 pack It's only 11 min but its all abs the whole time. I'm really feeling the effects this morning. Have a great week all.
192 198 Tue, 28 Oct 2008 11:19:40 EST Week 2 down http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1524730 Week 2 turned out to be heavy-duty in the exercise minutes. Yu would think with all that exercise I would have been down more than a pound---- but then we ate out a lot at the coast , which gave me more salt and fats than usual. It's okay-- It was fun and relaxing-- I was still down a pound and I needed the time away. Not sure if I can keep up that amount of exercise each week. I have a doc apt. Wed so that will cut down on my exercise time at lunch. Well I'll do the best I can -- that'... Tue, 21 Oct 2008 16:19:12 EST Headed in the right direction http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1514559 Well week 1 is over and I lost 3 pounds and did 700 mins of exercise. It actually feels good. I guess I just needed some accountability. I'm even tracking food and eating better. Yeah!!! We are headed to the coast this weekend. It's supposed to be nice so maybe we can get some tennis in too. Wed, 15 Oct 2008 19:23:00 EST Challenge is Up and Running http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1501496 I am so thankful for this new challenge. Already I find myself exercising more and eating better and eating less. I guess I just need to have someone hold me accountable. I really need this b/c my need to lose 5 pounds has turned into needing to lose 7 in just a week. Wed, 8 Oct 2008 11:50:30 EST
