It doesn't change on days that I eat less, work out or not work out. I must really be delusional or bad at basic math. If I am eating between 1200-1800 calories a day and exercising to burn 100-300 of those calories, why is my scale not changing? Do I need a new scale? Of course not. I don't ever feel any different. Clothes still fit as they did six months ago. Have scheduled my annual physical for next month - ma... Sun, 12 Aug 2012 11:06:16 EST Back from vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4984669 Don't know why I strayed from keeping up with Spark. I have a house full of guests and finally decided to resume my Spark journey. No weight loss since I began, no lifestyle changes to speak of. Just like WW, 6 months later, I have negligible weight loss. At least with Spark, no money is needed! Tue, 24 Jul 2012 10:40:20 EST Putting time between cravings and satisfaction http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4868202 For me it's not so much eating out of boredom as it is eating while reading. Old bad habit - while in junior college many years ago I would come home from school, take one of the four rows of saltine crackers from the kitchen, return to my room, finish my homework and the entire row of crackers. No problem when I was 19 and weighed 119.... Today I came home from a busy, outside active day, picked up the newspaper and right away wanted crackers, chips, whatever. I manage to stop after a han... Sat, 5 May 2012 21:49:17 EST Weight Gain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4854008 I am getting use to eating less calories although counting calories is harder when I eat away from my home. My exercise program is suffering this week and last week. Everyone has 10 minutes every day - where is mine today?! Cruising every aisle at Home Depot doesn't count for much of a workout! This is sounding more like a journal entry than a blog. Thu, 26 Apr 2012 21:48:12 EST Calories http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4849124 About 4 years ago I joined a popular weight loss program with my daughter and in 6 months I managed to lose .6 of a pound. No one was more diligent or honest than I was - imagine my disappointment. Not being able to afford to pay for that program with such dismal results, on my own I continued to track every thing I ate and was rather delighted that I was able to lose weight. I lost 12 pounds in about 6 months. Some days I even got to thinking, "Hmm I have already had 800 calories, why e... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 23:56:40 EST Dinner http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4845830 I read Beth's Blog, 'A letter to the Haters" a few days ago. The next night I had dinner out and had an eye opening experience, thanks to Beth's words. I was seated near a youngish couple and a baby. The couple were a good looking pair, mid thirties, the baby was 14-15 months. The woman was 100 or more pounds over weight. I watched what and how she ate, healthy food, large portions, no soda, no dessert. Thanks to Beth, I started analyzing why this woman might be so large. Maybe she has... Sat, 21 Apr 2012 20:59:22 EST Spark less http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4829617 Being away from reliable internet for a few days showed me how important my tracking and eating responsibilities have become. I was able to keep note or write down most of my 'behavior' but was bummed that I was unable to track, record, read spark messages and plan for a healthy day. I have downloaded the phone app - hope that next time I am internet-less, I will have some coping things to help me stay with wellness. Wed, 11 Apr 2012 00:03:11 EST Wellness http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4819285 is more than the absence of disease. It is an attitude, a way of looking at things all of the time. Wellness can be simple, it can be personal, and it can be learned. Tue, 3 Apr 2012 21:33:06 EST Meg's Taco Seasoning Recipe http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4817607 DD gave us a small turkey yesterday which we baked for supper and enjoyed with a small bit of dressing and some homegrown steamed carrots. Yum! Craving carbohydrates today, I chopped up some turkey and onion and made Meg's recipe for taco seasoning, cumin, pepper flakes and chili powder. Wow! Measured and folded into a whole wheat tortilla, a perfect meal. No problem drinking enough water after the zip from the seasoning! Mon, 2 Apr 2012 21:54:25 EST Cheese http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4815878 Hard to figure out some of my eating quirks. I am trying to stay on the low end of my calorie range and within the range for proteins, fats and carbs but it seems unfair that a piece of cheese is so deadly. With all of the activity and people around this weekend, I made sure of a 'path' for eating - I planned ahead and yet eating one delicious piece of Tillamook Cheese added 220 calories to my daily account today. I am gaining an understanding that I need to eat less & move more! Can't ... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 23:08:05 EST Portions http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4813017 A pat on the back for moving through the week with less than perfect health. Am feeling good, managing to eat right & no guilt when I splurged tonight with 2 oz of Kettle Salt and Vinegar chips. I like the tips from the message boards and hope to use more recipes next week. I never thought that I would be buying Almond Butter - does that mean that I'll start eating mayonnaise soon?! Sat, 31 Mar 2012 00:27:03 EST Feeling Better http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4809737 Sure glad that the acid indigestion or whatever has moved on. Difficult yesterday, hard to even drink water and I am not surprised that my calorie intake was too low. It is good that I am getting the hang of using Spark. I am certainly committed to the workout program (altho part of that is paying for a gym means using a gym to me). Wed, 28 Mar 2012 22:04:54 EST Week 1 Weigh In http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4806313 I weighed myself today for the first time since starting SP. The scale has not moved. I changed the battery. The scale remained the same. I changed the battery a second time. No change. Rather than brood all day, I made more careful measurements of what I was consuming and made sure that I was drinking plenty of water. I like the menu choices but haven't figured out why I can't just list what I eat rather than changing every meal every day. I never eat mayonnaise (yuck) so that choic... Mon, 26 Mar 2012 21:25:01 EST Garden Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4804859 Today I wanted to get some garden things done, but ended up recovering the patio bar stools. I used some cool material, blue and white stripes, almost a canvas but slicker, hopefully sun proof, and was able to do all 4 stools in an afternoon. A staple is a wonderful fastener! Once it started raining, I saw that I had made the right choice for an afternoon project. Mon, 26 Mar 2012 00:43:38 EST Spark Recipe - umm umm good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4803380 I made a Spark Recipe (Chef Meg's Simple Quinoa and Vegetables tonight. Loved it! Easy to put together, paired with salmon and a small glass of chardonnay. I am not passionate about cooking at all and really could eat a bean and cheese burrito every evening. I feel good, anxious to lose some weight, having a hard time not weighing til Monday. Am blessed with good health, no meds, and aside from my bad knee (skiing accident when I was young and daring!) I am thankful for my good health. ... Sat, 24 Mar 2012 23:37:37 EST Dining out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4802097 It was difficult today to eat two meals away from home. When tempted by appetizers & big helpings, it was hard to stay away from the food choices. Tomorrow will be better. Sat, 24 Mar 2012 00:06:54 EST Getting it. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4800521 I visited the library and the playground with Grandson. I ate my meals late but was satisfied. I switched my workout a bit, lots of stretching and some strength training even if today is not the day to strength train. Sometimes at a gym you have to go with which machines are available when you are available. Thu, 22 Mar 2012 22:20:37 EST Eating pizza http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4798878 After careful consideration and caution for breakfast, lunch and snacks, I joined family members for pizza and beer tonight. I had two slices of pepperoni pizza and about 20 ounces of beer. Great fun and I was able to stay within my calorie range. Wed, 21 Mar 2012 22:19:54 EST
