For 3 solid weeks I ate nothing that had sugar, not even plain bread if it had sugar. I scrutinized every label for any sugar. I wanted the taste of sweetness to go away from my mind so I didn't use any artificial sweetners either. After about the third week I relaxed a litt... Thu, 6 Jan 2011 10:25:16 EST I Love you Optifast and SP! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3228978 I'm celebrating a milestone today. I started on Optifast on April 9th with the supervision of my doctor. I'm not on any program specifically, but instead I bought the product online and started on my own. My doctor approved me and asked me what I was going to do about the "support" component which is very important in a weight loss program. I told him I would continue to use Sparkpeople for that and explain what an incredible website this is. Today was my 20 lbs. weight loss day! This is the ... Fri, 14 May 2010 10:16:46 EST Back again. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2798468 I feel like that Romy and Michelle's high school reunion movie, you know, the scene when they're in Ramon's car and ready to get on the road to their reunion. Everytime they start the engine, the music starts and they yell, "Tucson, here we come woohooo!!" and the car dies. Then they start again, same thing, music starts and "Tucson, here we come woohoo!!" and the car dies again. The third time they just take off.
I get on my page and am so excited to start again, all gung ho, going "S... Tue, 26 Jan 2010 09:11:39 EST Lost 2 lbs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2475237 I finally have something to blog about. I lost 2 lbs as of yesterday. I started something new with my eating habits, or rather trying to break out from my eating habits. Since morning is the time of day when I feel the hungriest, I eat a good hardy breakfast in the morning, eggs, bagel or toast, a meat, coffee, sometimes potatoes, but not always want them. I feel satisfied in the morning, so for the rest of the day I eat fruit, yogurt, lots of raw veggies all throuhout the rest of the day. ... Tue, 13 Oct 2009 09:27:06 EST weigh in day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2435469 So today was my first weigh-in day since I returned to SP. I am the same as when I left off and that's what I wanted. I'm feeling good about logging my food and excercise efforts again. I see some people have lost more weight since I was away! That is so inspiring to me.
Well, this is all for now. Will check back next monday! Mon, 28 Sep 2009 13:14:45 EST Back again, reading the blogs and smiling http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2428245 So I went away again for a little bit. Some activity at home ( some good, some bad) have kept me away. I wanted to lose the 4 lbs I had gained back before I started logging my numbers again. I'm back where I left off and very excited to coming in daily and reading the blogs which inspire me so. I actually re-read my own blogs as well and it reminds me why I like this program so much. I weigh-in on Mondays, so my first weigh-in Monday will be September 28th. See you all soon again! 252<... Fri, 25 Sep 2009 11:25:02 EST Back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2344587 I was away from my Sparkiness for two weeks taking care of other matters of consequence. I didn't have the time to even log-in my food intake. This is the first time I'm away from my commitment to myself since I started SP. I realized how important it is to stay focus and continue to log the food. I didn't lose anything on Monday, but then again I didn't gain either. I think that's due to the fact that even though I wasn't logging my calories and eating by "guess" for two weeks, I still conti... Tue, 25 Aug 2009 10:24:15 EST Weigh-In Report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2302597 I lost 3 lbs this past week. I only expect to lose 2 lbs, so the extra pound is always welcome. Nothing different this week, except that I've been doing a lot of walking and my hunger level has increased. I didn't feel it the week before, but last week I felt the hunger level go up most of the week. I'm proud to say that I stayed within my numbers even when I had second servings on some of my items. I mostly try to get extra helpings of the more healthy foods. Last night I had an attack of i... Mon, 10 Aug 2009 10:14:35 EST The 10 lbs report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2282822 I made it to the ten pound mark and I've only been on SP for a month. This is a very significant weight loss to me because it is the first time that it feels that I'm not starving or depriving myself. It felt natural and easy. I've been tracking all my food and keeping within my calories, carbohydrates, protein, and most importantly, fat range. I've been eating anything I like, not always following my prescribed menu, but always portion controlling to stay within my numbers. My pie chart h... Mon, 3 Aug 2009 10:19:15 EST What??? I've been corrected, I lost five lbs! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2262721 It is five lbs not four!!! whoohoo! I love it even more!!! 236 Mon, 27 Jul 2009 09:56:28 EST My turtle finally moved!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2262696 Ok Sparkies, you better send me high fives!! I lost 4 lbs. Well, I'm going to guess that 2 are from last week and 2 from the previous week when I was retaining fluids. I feel great! My turtle is inside of the road now and ready to go, go, go!!!!

WhooHoo!! 104 252 91 Mon, 27 Jul 2009 09:52:56 EST A very cool "WOW" moment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2250975 So today I had a free coupon for a tall free iced mocha so I got one this morning. I knew it was going to be bad, so when I logged it I wasn't surprised when my breakfast numbers went thru the roof. But here's my "wow" moment. When I was leaving for lunch, I had all I needed for my lunch but I needed to stop at the farmers truck and get some veggies and fruit to balance my lunch. As I was leaving, I heard the girls in the office talking about going to get some cheeseburgers from my favorite h... Wed, 22 Jul 2009 16:31:54 EST I'm just saying... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2247006 How important it is to know our food. Look here, my tiny pat of butter, my little packet of jam, my small creamer container for my coffee and my two very small packages of sugar this morning, added to more calories and fat than my yougart and 7 strawberries together!!! I still want the cream and sugar in my coffee but now that I see, I can limit that coffee to one cup a day. I mean, why did it take me so long for this to sink in? We don't go to the bank and draw money without knowing how mu... Tue, 21 Jul 2009 11:22:17 EST Reporting that...there's nothing to report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2243640 Ok...short and to the point. First week on my new nutrition program. I did not lose. BUT, that's not completely accurate since it is about that time of the month and I retain fluids until I start. I will weigh myself again after I start to see the true weight. I did fantastic as far as my total calorie intake. I have cut it in half since the week before last. I stayed within my calorie range every day!
I stayed within my carbohydrate range 5 out of the 7 days , within my fat range 4 out... Mon, 20 Jul 2009 10:44:36 EST This is too easy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2231730 I wasn't going to blog until I weigh myself on 7/20/09, but I just have to say it. This is the most amazing program. The nutrition guide is so easy. I now buy my food to fit my numbers. I look at fat grams, calories and carbohydrates in the products I buy in relation to "my nutrition" numbers. The pie chart (I love the chart pie) is so clear and it stays in my head. Ever time I fix a meal I am constantly keeping my numbers in mind and without even looking at "my nutrition" can tell how many c... Wed, 15 Jul 2009 16:54:14 EST For young girls going to the gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2220926 I just read in a health magazine's advise column a comment by a young girl explaining how hard it is for her to go the gym when she finds herself surrounded by all the skinny girls just showing off their already slim bodies. She has to make an extra effort to come out of the lockers in her oversize shorts and t-shirts feeling like everyone is staring at her.
I'm older now and this is not a problem for me anymore, but it was. Back in 1991 I lost a lot of weight through exercise. But when... Sat, 11 Jul 2009 17:21:34 EST Thank you for all the support http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2220843 Thank you for all your support. I'm just starting with Spark people and am more inspired than I ever was on any other program! 247 Sat, 11 Jul 2009 16:18:34 EST I saw the light http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2220688 This week was a real eye opener. This was my week to keep a food journal as my first step to my spark program. Every morning I would come to work and log in the final late snack I had the night before, I mean everything! including a half glass of pop, a mint, whatever. I would then run the report and drum roll...aaahh!! whaaat?!!!
The first day I almost fell out of my chair. I've been calorie "aware" ever since I started trying to lose weight(many years), but I never kept such careful ... Sat, 11 Jul 2009 14:43:50 EST baby steps http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2217720 At the advise of my wise daughter I did not change my diet this week. I ate whatever I eat everyday and started a food journal as step one of my program. Because it is so easy to log into spark when I get to work , I have a very honest and true food account. I realized that adding the "little" things I often forget makes a big difference. I'm shocked to see how many calories I am consuming each day!
This week was for this reality check. My journal tells me a lot.
Baby steps. Fri, 10 Jul 2009 09:38:15 EST I want to set a goal today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2211242 Today I want to make a commitment to my body. I will start training for the breast cancer 1/2 marathon coming up February 2010. My husband told me something very wise the other day as I was again making up excuses such as "I need a gym", or "I need yoga classes" ect. He said to me that the only thing I need to lose weight is my own body. I feed it, I excercise it (or not). He said: "Feed it healthy food even when it wants bad food. Move it, even when it doesn't want to move. Your body will... Tue, 7 Jul 2009 23:16:18 EST
