Our three cats were so thrilled to have them come. It is amazing how much more alert they are while the dog is in the house. So, I thought I would take Lola on a run with me today. The temperature was in the upper 80's with a nice breeze blowing and the sun shining bright and we had a good pace going for about 2 1/2 miles and suddenly she went to the side of the road in a shady spot and plopped down in the grass... Sat, 21 Aug 2010 17:10:33 EST Jumping Rope http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3452895 My youngest daughter gave me a first class jump rope for Fathers Day. She had me try jumping rope on my last visit when she took me to do one of her Crossfit sessions. I had never tried to jump rope before and had little success at it, so she had me do a different jumping exercise in place of jumping rope. When I first tried to jump the rope (actually it is a plastic covered cable attached to a pair of handle with ball bearings) I had pretty much the same result as when visiting her, but with... Tue, 20 Jul 2010 23:17:39 EST My Three Year Anniversary On Spark http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3376878 I have been on Spark for three years now, but have only been seriously pursuing my healthy lifestyle for the last last year. It wasn't that I eat healthy foods for the most part, or that I didn't exercise, because i did do both of them. However, I did not track my food or my exercise and I was completely surprised to see how many calories I was consuming and how many more calories I needed to burn in the coarse of a day. Once my eyes were opened to these two important facts and I began to mak... Sun, 27 Jun 2010 22:07:15 EST A Good Walk http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3023399 When our youngest daughter, Kate, came home from her first day of kindergarten, she announced that she had made a new friend, Hannah. Over the next few weeks and months, our son, Josh and Hannah's brother, Josh, became good friends, as did the mothers and dads. We lived in the country and the lived in the city, but the father and sometimes the mother would come out to our house and we would walk together. A house down the road from us came on the market and our friends bought it and lived the... Sat, 20 Mar 2010 19:39:56 EST Twenty points on the wheel http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2733290 This morning when I went to spin the wheel I noticed that there was a space with 20 points on it. That is unusual, my wheel typically runs 1-5. So I spun the wheel, and what do you know, it landed on the 20. YEA! Also, today is the day that I got 25 points for a 30 day anniversary. So, YEA! YEA!

I hope you ALL have a great day! Tue, 12 Jan 2010 08:49:47 EST FITS Blaster http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2720180 Today I participated in, what our local YMCA calls, its annual FITS Blaster. A FITS Blaster is a introduction, of 10 minutes in each of the different fitness classes that the Y offers. The classes include Zumba, Pilates, Spinning, Step Aerobics, Kick Boxing, Power Pump, Belly Dancing and Total Body Challenge, and yes, I did attend all of the sessions. I had to set a good example, because my wife is the "FITS coordinator" as well as an instructor and a personal trainer. She had ask me to go an... Sat, 9 Jan 2010 16:54:21 EST Keeping on http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2629060 Well I am down another pound today, but I only have one more week to achieve my goal of nine more pounds. Even though I have serious doubts that I will not achieve my goal by the dead line that I set for myself, I will not give up. The goal is obtainable. It will come; I just have to be more patient and more diligent. I thank all of my Spark Friends and this site for the advice support and encouragement on my quest 252 Keep on keeping on! Sat, 12 Dec 2009 16:11:58 EST Back in town and down 2 lb. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2523567 I did my weigh in today after being out of town for half of the week on business, and to my surprise, I had lost 2 lb. I confess that I did not eat nearly as healthy as I would have had I been home, but I did make it a point to eat as much of the healthier foods as I could and less of the not so healthy foods.

On the good side of being gone, I will as often as possible take the stairs. I was on the 16th floor this trip and the door to the stairs was directly across from my room; m... Sun, 1 Nov 2009 01:15:45 EST Gained 1lb. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2505465 Today, was my weigh in day. I am not always able to weigh in on Saturday, but when I am home, I do. Today I was up 1 lb.; and even though that isn't all that bad, I only have 8 weeks to loose 12 lb. to reach my goal.

I have been using the food tracker, on the advice of some very nice ladies who
commented on my previous blog, and that has, I believe, helped me, but in the 7 weeks that I have been using that and all of the other things that I have been doing, I went down 2lb. a... Sat, 24 Oct 2009 22:18:54 EST How I got to where I am http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2380468 As a young boy I was very active, I was in the scouts and did a lot of hiking camping and other outdoors type activities. I would go to a nearby city park where there were lots of things for me to do. And I played organized sports as well as nieghborhood sports; so you can see that I was not a couch potatoe.
After getting married, starting a family and with work I did not do much of anyting physicaly and my diet became eating as much of anything that I wanted. So in the next twenty... Mon, 7 Sep 2009 16:58:56 EST
