15MINUTES's SparkPeople Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.asp?id=15MINUTES 15MINUTES's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community SparkPeople.com http://assets2.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/logo_spark.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Saving Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5191953 I'm figuring the best way to save time in my day is to get off Fbook and email. Perhaps if I could plank on the half hour I would feel like I have accomplished something in my evenings. I'm hoping to have more energy as I get back on track, in which case I will bypass sitting on the couch reading and responding to people and will instead get in some exercise. After all, I can do anything for 15 Minutes! ;). It worked before--time to rebuild the habit. Sat, 5 Jan 2013 17:52:55 EST A List Brought Me Recognition of the Joy in Getting Dressed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3852286 Whenever I'm feeling like I'm just doing what I do with Spark because that's what I do, I read some exceptional blogs and lo and behold...I can feel the motivation starting to spark its way into my heart. Today I read a few and I'm finding myself drawn to the lists (because, I'll admit it, I'm a List-Kind-of-Gal). So, having now been sparked by some great bloggers out there in Spark-world, I'm posting my own and putting it out there for myself. Here goes...

I HAVE, SINCE JANUARY... Sun, 19 Dec 2010 13:51:15 EST Running for Literacy--Running for Me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3737308 Okay--it always feels good to support an organization that's focussed on helping people--to know you are supporting others is a bit of a feel good thought. The fact that I'm an educator and believe in this cause doesn't hurt. However, to support an organization AND to challenge myself to improve makes the endeavour all the richer. Today I ran in my first offical 5K race and I had 2 goals--run it in under 40 mins. and run the whole route). I am celebrating this evening (well, I have been al... Sun, 24 Oct 2010 18:53:28 EST Running--in my world, it wasn't likely to happen! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3434369 Ski season ended and my husband decided the next family project was running in preparation for the kids Bluenose Marathon (he wanted to run with the boys). I reluctantly agreed to try it--found the Couch to 5K on SP and figured if we started slow, perhaps I'd eventually be able to run for 5 mins. straight. Hmph...I hated it and was very slow so my husband and the oldest boy ran together while I ran with the 10 year old (about my speed) and the 7 year old, who wanted to run even less than I ... Thu, 15 Jul 2010 10:00:35 EST Forgive Myself and Get Back on the Healthy Horse http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3420402 It feels like the summer is going to ruin me--I'm a teacher on summer vacation who requires a routine if I hope to have any success. So far in 1.5 weeks of vacation I've doubled my exercise but I've gained 10 pounds. YIKES...but even though I see I'm up on the scale, I don't feel like I'm up 10 pounds so I'd say I'm still down inches.

That social food/people thing is killing me...as is being away from the house and eating in restaurants. I can't give up...if I do, I'll put all... Sun, 11 Jul 2010 14:09:44 EST Water Retention http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3399859 This is the start of Day 6 of my summer vacation and I've noticed since the evening of graduation (one week ago this evening) that I've been retaining water. My ankles are swollen each evening and, for that matter, I'm beginning to notice they are swollen during the day as well. Hmmmm...wondering why. I've not been eating well--we've been on the road a fair bit. I've been working out a lot more--to try to make up for the poor eating. It hasn't been so hot and humid that I would have expe... Mon, 5 Jul 2010 08:21:43 EST Life Happens http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3328781 I had a great week.

I dropped the gain from last weekend plus I dropped extra.

I planned for a weekend of indulgences with my youngest--it is our annual bonding weekend.

We walked and ate. We've had ice cream, penny candy and even potato chips.

We didn't walk as much as I thought we would yesterday but we walked. We spent the bulk of the day (except the extreme heat of the afternoon) outdoors.

We went out to dinner and we had dessert. ... Sun, 13 Jun 2010 05:36:21 EST Party Preparation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3305405 Getting up in the morning when I knew I had some running around to do all afternoon and a party to attend that evening was a great motivator for morning exercise. I rode my recumbent bike while I digested some professional reading (killed two birds with one stone).

We had salmon for supper and some great stir fry veggies/rice. It was a fantastic supper but I knew I would be eating that divine nacho dip when I got to the party.

Lots of compliments were received about my... Sun, 6 Jun 2010 09:01:03 EST Walk this Way http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3280551 It was a great day--managed to head out on 3 separate walks today with my No. 2 son. We picked up garbage in the ditches when we went on the first walk--today was our town's Spring Cleanup day. The second walk included heading out to my son's friend's house to buy a hotdog in support of Relay for Life. The third was to fill some prescriptions. The first walk was my usual 40 minute walk. The other two were shorter but essentially, any extra effort was worth it. I'm pretty pleased with th... Sat, 29 May 2010 19:36:31 EST Sparking with Friends--Part II http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3226972 I cannot believe that 3 good friends are now on Sparkpeople with me and how beneficial that is for me. I really enjoy checking in on their site each evening to see how they've been doing. I'm just so proud of all of us--and it's quite motivating to help encourage each other.

Let's go fellow sparkies. I'm cheering you on 224 Thu, 13 May 2010 18:16:22 EST Sparking with Friends http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3138064 It's a great time of year--everyone seems to have the energy that spring tends to ignite. And, speaking of energy and ignitions--my friends and I are Sparking together. It's a great way to keep the momentum going. I've got my husband sparking with me at home (in an offhanded kind of way) and my girlfriends sparking on-line.

Life is great! Mon, 19 Apr 2010 19:50:20 EST Exhaustion Breeds Contempt? NEVER!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2923840 It's been a heck of a week. Monday was exhausting at work. Tuesday was no better. Today was a nightmare (at least I got my water into me on Monday and Tuesday--today I didn't find the time to even go for a bathroom break!)

How do I fix this? My husband tells me to close my door or leave the office altogether and go elsewhere for some lunch. I like to keep working and snack on my lunch slowly. Perhaps on the next day I'm in the office I will take out the lunch and have it sitt... Wed, 24 Feb 2010 19:50:41 EST SNOW DAY http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2813997 Edit Note
SNOW DAY #1 !!

Since it's a snow day and didn't walk to work, I figured I'd read The Spark most of the day and do a little cleaning. Then, as I was reading, it dawned on me to go ride my recumbent bike while I was reading. A great idea. I told myself I'd ride for 15 mins. but I ended up going for 20. I may even do it again after supper once I bring the bike downstairs into my sunroom (I've said I'd do this 2 winters in a row and have yet to accomplish it). Locatio... Fri, 29 Jan 2010 16:09:00 EST Week 1: 1/2 Way Check-in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2711076 So far, so good. I've been tracking since Sunday and I'm finding I'm getting quite comfortable with the SparkPeople website. On Saturday when I looked at it I figured it was way too complicated and I wouldn't ever get used to it--it felt overwhelming. Only 5 days later and I'm feeling very comfortable and each day I'm discovering new and exciting features. I'm very impressed with the wealth of food options in the nutrition tracker.

I repeat, so far, so good! Thu, 7 Jan 2010 18:16:27 EST
